I had new hearing aids 3 weeks ago having suddenly gone profoundly deaf in my right ear.
However my mild tinnitus in that ear has jumped to an unbearable level, which I cannot live with
for long. Also my hearing without the aids is now useless in both ears.
Anyone had similar experience or any suggestions ?
RECENT HISTORY
First, I am diabetic and have had a fairly normal healthy life except in the last two years where I gained 40 pounds, did not control my blood sugars well, and went off the rails. I have had a lot of issues this year, but to focus on my most recent issues, I had a A1c of 10.5 two month ago and went to 9.1 a month ago finally to 7.6 right before my single incision laparoscopic with robotic-assisted single-incision surgery to remove my infected gallbladder (Hida Scan 11% no gallstones). 6 month ago i started experiencing a lot of bloating, indigestion and took charcocaps that helped a lot after meals.
Two weeks ago I went out for a cup of iced coffee (huge coffee drinker 3-4 cups a day for a long time no problems for years), and something hit me, it felt like a sharp pain and instant feeling of bleh no appetite and sick feeling the rest of the day. This continued for a week before I knew something was wrong, I could not have anything acidic or felt like I could eat anything. I had just seen my doctor for a bike accident a month prior to get a referral to a PT and osteopathic doctor. I had a l3/l4 compressed nerve with a twisted sacral (this is much better now with some minor spasms in my right leg from time to time). With all of that pain (took hydrocodone and muscle relaxants to sleep, sleep was poor) and school, I figured I must have given myself an Ulcer. My doctor game me a ppi-omeprazole (i've never had reflux and didn't then) since I had symptoms of some burning sensations and this chronic dyspepsia so this would treat the possible Ulcer for two weeks while I was sent for an ultrasound to check out my gallbladder (family history - Mom, aunt, and uncle had their's out with gallstones). The ppi sort of helped but I just was fatigued, could not eat anything but a bland diet, I had chronic dyspepsia and general nausea that I could never shake. My daily caloric intake decreased with each new day and food just made me generally feel sick, however if I skipped meals it would still be bad, worse with food.
TEST RESULTS
After the Hida scan came back positive with an ejection rate of 11%, I scheduled my new a1c test, ekg (family history of heart disease), I was cleared and scheduled for surgery. I stopped taking the ppi as I believed this to be the cause of all my problems. btw, I was 254 the end of june and lost 25 pounds by the time of surgery (average daily caloric intake ~900-1200 prior to surgery
POST SURGERY
After the surgery 7/21-one week ago, I had my two days of pain and adjustment, and recovered decently with a soft food and liquid diet. I noticed the general sickness was gone! Hazzah!, except on Saturday I was feeling bloated, cramping, and I could not eat a solid one bite without feeling sick. I knew I was constipated. I stopped the pain meds the day before and I knew I had not eaten too much but it was over a week since i went. I took magnesium citrate and nothing after 7 hours, I drank another 1/2--then BOOM it was insane. I was sooo wiped out and tried to replace lost liquids but I believe I was dehydrated. I was sick that night and stomach was not happy.
Sunday was much better but I was wiped out still and felt generally just depleted of all my energy. I ate, walked a bit and then came back home. That night I started feeling very uncomfortable and the symptoms were somewhat similar to prior to surgery of the general dyspepsia and nausea chronically. I could not sleep because of my back problems (had to sleep upright on my back all week). I woke up in the middle of the night turned to my side and then all of a sudden I felt a warm rush of something just above my stomach and the constant burn in my stomach no reflux. I could not sleep until the morning.
NOW,
I have had really bad gas (low fat diet) for the past few days. I was getting and feeling better on day four but now this!
I felt extreme discomfort all day, felt like a low grade fever 98.6 (no fever) incision site is also slightly red, but the doctor said to call if I had a fever. I was worried about an SSI. The pain was like I threw up (I never have even starting out back in at the coffee shop) and that ache afterwards. The burning sensation let up later in the day after I took some antacids and saltines (I must have some acid issues, but I have read a lot of people suspecting many people may actually have low acid).
The thing is a lot of people have episodes after food, but mine is chronic with mild discomfort, burning sensations, upper abdomen and stomach discomfort (with some nausea), and food helps it initially and then it comes back. I feel week, slight low grade fever even though I don't have one. I keep thinking I have an infection of H. Pylori or something. Food takes a while to do much, I walk after I eat everything. I feel like I could eat but I get so much bloating and indigestion that it is uncomfortable. I drink plenty of water, but I wonder if I am low on essential things for the long ongoing low calorie daily diet. I can't eat more then 800 calories even with smaller meals-since Thursday.
Why was my gall bladder inflamed in the first place? I had no stones, and the surgeon said I had a very long a big gallbladder (ready to rupture!) that was really inflamed including a little on the liver. Pathology reports came back negative. I theorize my rapid change in weight and blood sugar levels inflamed the organ or an infection.
Possibilities:
diabetic Gastroparesis
H. Pylori
Peptic Ulcer (was never officially tested)
Gastritis
Anxiety
Low/High Stomach Acid
Low bile leak?
Sphincter of oddi dysfunction
What I feel could help:
HCL Betaine
Digestive Enzyme (Garden of life chewable vegetarian)
ppi (I would hate to take them unless I had to)
something to coat my stomach if I do have an ulcer to heal
ability to eat more so I can have more assimilated minerals, ect.
Anxiety med (first year i've had a lot of anxiety-mainly school related and upcoming wedding planning for next year

My burning anxiety questions:
When will I get my appetite back?
(i really suspected my odds were decently good that I would get better after surgery, I had a great surgeon)
Did anyone have any of these chronic symptoms? Is it due to an infection or some issue with surgery?
Have some people eventually been able to eat what they wanted after a period of time?
How many had these excessive bloating, indigestion, nausea and general malaise through the day, worse a little while after food or between meals?
I have a VERY mild soreness (if I can even call it that) just below my rib cage towards the right side, but only if I move in a certain way--it doesn't really hurt to the touch. I have no diarrhea, no fever, no back pain, stools are normal color---only a brief pang of nausea now and again, but it's not constant. Also, it doesn't bother when I eat greasy or fatty foods. I find it hard to believe that it's gallbladder related, but not sure whether I should see a doctor or not. It has subsided since the beginning of the week. Anyone else have this and it not turn into anything serious?
View 3 RepliesI had a blood test around 7 months ago which showed my blood sugar Hb1AC to be close to pre-diabetic levels, which freaked me out. My cholesterol was also a little high.
I cut down on sweet things (which I love!) a lot, and had my blood tested again a few weeks ago. good news is that the blood sugar levels have dropped, triglycerides low, liver function great. HOWEVER, my cholesterol has leapt to 6.6! So annoyed!
The nurse quizzed me on my diet and the only thing we can pinpoint is that I eat a lot of cheese, so have started eating low fat cheese or not eating as much in general. I generally eat what I consider to be a healthy diet, oily fish, veg, etc but not sure what to believe.
I read that a high fat diet is now the way to go with low carb, but whilst this seems to have helped with blood sugar, it has not done my cholesterol any good.
I have to go back in 3 months. Anyone else had this type of result?
so it started on thursday a slight pain in my tooth i just thought i had nicked my gum with something and thought nothing of it and by friday it had gotten a little worse but still thought nothing of it but now it's saturday and the pain is unbearable now
the pain has spread from the top left incisor to my front two teeth and to all the teeth on the left hand side of the top set and has spread to my left cheekbone which has swollen up like a balloon
my mother says its a dental abscess and have to wait but i have had 12 solpadeine max tablets with 12 ibuprofen which has done almost nothing to stop any pain i literally want to pull my teeth out
is there anything my local A&E can do to help because my dentist is very busy and i doubt i can get an appointment on monday nor tuesday i can not go 3-4 more days of this pain
I've been breastfeeding for a little over a week now. My nipples really started hurting like 2 days ago, and now the pain is unbearable!! It hurts so bad to feed her but I have to for another 3 days. Any advice?

View 1 RepliesI had a colonoscopy 3 days ago as I have Crohns and was awake for the whole thing. I told two nurses beforehand I didn't want to be awake for the procedure. Although I was given pethidine for pain relief there was still a lot of unbearable pain and I was shouting and crying but they just carried on. Afterwards they wanted the bed so I was given a cup of cold water and told to get dressed after about half an hour. As he was passing, the doctor told me he had taken several biopsies and the Crohn's didn't look too bad - then he walked off. I am now having nightmares and palpitations. I went to work yesterday but was sent home after a couple of hours as I couldn't stop shaking. I suffered sexual abuse as a child and this has triggered flashbacks. I can't stop crying. I will never have this test again as I would rather die.
View 1 Replies1 month ago i got vaginal yeast infection due to over-dosage of antibiotic. I went to dr and she gave me 3 day medicine therapy for yeast infection. I completed that course of medication but i was still feeling some itching i again went to dr and she said everything seems fine to her it's just my feeling so she again gave me flagystatin 500mg 1 ovule to use twice a day for 5 days. But as dr was satisfied with my symptoms i didn't take that medicine and forgot about infection after 2 days i tired to had sex with my husband but it it was so painful for me that we ended up in middle then i waited for week and again tried and same happened again, pain during sex was unbearable. Then i got my periods starts and i thought whatever it was it is gone by now but today looking my vagina in mirror i found a small white dot inside vagina and i am also feeling mild itching and vaginal discharge but it is odorless. So can you please tell me is it the repressed yeast infection that has shown again and i should take flagystatin or is it something else.

View 1 RepliesI am 40 years old & I had a hysterectomy in 2011, I only had one ovary removed. Since 2013, I've had several occasions when I've had to go to the er because I had unbearable pain due to ruptured cysts on my remaining ovary, the pain I deal with is horrible to say the least & each time I was just sent home with pain meds. Has anyone else gone through this after having only 1 ovary removed? & should I consider having the remaining ovary removed?
View 2 RepliesHad a letter from the rheumatologist to say that I have vitamin D deficiency which I can't understand because I get plenty of sunlight and I have a good diet.Going to GP today to discuss supplements.Rheumatologist also suggests that my GP checks my PTH which I assume is parathyroid hormone.Does anyone have any experience of this.My pain and fatigue are becoming unbearable and if vitamin D supplements could alleviate some of it this would be wonderful,but I Don't want to get my hopes up only to be let down again.

Yesterday the itchiness became unbearable so had to scratch now it is very sore. I think there is a swollen lump on my clitoris but not too sure. This most possibly is from me scratching but would just like to know if my thinking is correct?. Although yesterday looking back there was a certain part that was very itchy when touch it. Could this be thrush?. I have had herpes before.
View 1 RepliesI had a ruptured cyst on my ovaries nearly 3 years ago now during the summer and was in hospital for 2 days. The hospital staff couldn't have been worse and that is literally the only information I know, that I had a cyst and it burst. I never have any follow up appointments, my GP wasn't informed or got in touch so I thought nothing of it. 3 years later I have the most horrendous pain mainly after and something during sex. I have ovary pain throughout the month which becomes unbearable come mid cycle. It feels literally like someone is squeezing my ovaries. I struggle to use the toilet when at its worse. And overall I know there's more to it but doctors have always dismissed me and just told me I have bad periods and to take pain killers. I take 50g codeine that doesn't move the pain only slightly dulls it and makes me feel really ill and sick. It affects my work and sex life massively. I'm 21 and have had issues from being 18. Has anyone had continued pain after a ruptured cyst?
View 2 RepliesI am 48 years old and been suffering many years with pain all over my body, my hip pain is the worst, closely followed by shoulders, wrists and hands, then buttocks, more recently knees. My history has been a bit of a nightmare - diagnosed first as fibromyalgia, then early RA, then back to fibro, abnormal antibodies (autoimmune disease). Years ago I complained to my gp about mouth ulcers and was discovered I was low in vitamin D. Two years ago I started suffering extreme head sweats and a few weeks ago I realised that I was still getting mouth ulcers even if I was just a few hours late taking my Calcium Vitamin D and told my gp, adding that I was concerned that I was still low in vitamin D. Blood tests revealed that I am, even though I never miss the tablets, get lots of outdoors when able, eat loads of fish, eggs etc. So, doc thinks its a parathyroid tumour and according to the website the only 2 reasons you would have low vitamin D is 1- if you don't actually get any and 2 - you do have a tumour. So its looking pretty much like this is the reason and I am guessing surgery will be necessary. My concern is, my muscles and bones ache so much, I walk like a very old woman.
My life has really been mostly bed bound for the last few years with pain, having to use a stick a lot when I do go out - on good days I will be out as much as possible and walk as much as I can-yeah the consequences are usually the next day in bed, but I try to push it as much as I can. I have put so many things on hold, work and social and missed out on so much. Now, I am wondering - if and when this is sorted out, the tumour removed (if the doc is right and I do believe he is) will my aches and pains go? Will I have a better quality of life? If osteoporosis has set it - can it be reversed? I have also noticed very recently things becoming much worse. If I move my hand in a different way the pain is unbearable and feels like something has just broken - my index finger has started moving involuntary, kind of jumping - is this related to anything?
Have glue ear anyone else got it? I am a 56 female in distress.

The doctors have tested everything even when she was admitted into hospital, nothing was found on CT scans, MRI scans and no results from blood tests... She has just had a key hole operation to have a look inside and see what it is but they have said again there is nothing there.

So it's getting to that time of year again and I'm wondering if I should have the flu jab. I have mild asthma ( I only have symbicort and ventolin) and have never had a proper attack or flu. I was only diagnosed two years ago, but it's likely I've always had it (I'm 19) according to the nurse given that I have a history of breathing issues.
Last year the surgery I was with didn't receive any of the vaccinations until december. I was offered on but refused as it wasn't convenient at the time. I'm a student and had a two weeks of term left, full of exams and assignments. As I always feel unwell after jabs I didn't want to risk it!
Personally, I don't feel that I need it and I don't want to have one when people need it more than me, but I also don't want to be stupid and refuse it and then end up unable to breathe!
I am 17 now and I have had tinnitus for only about 6 months and I already think I is really annoying!! I'v got about 3 different ringing noises, one (the first) in my right ear, the second is a higher pitched one in the middle area, (I cant tell where that is coming from) and sometimes I get an extremely high pitched loud ringing in my left ear which comes and goes (It's so loud that when it comes I actually turn my head to see where the noise is coming from.)
My problem is that I have no idea how what caused it. I ruled out loud noises because I can't think of a situation where I have been exposed to very loud music.
One day I just woke up with tinnitus. My hearing was reduced for the first few days and then fully returned.
Recently I think it has got worse.
I have seen my GP twice and now I will be seen by an ENT DR. Tinnitus doesn't stop me sleeping, but it is the only thing I can hear at night and that is extremely annoying.
The worst problem I have is that I find it very hard to concentrate when doing schoolwork as this is when I would normally need silence. I find it very difficult to concentrate with noise so tinnitus upsets me quite a lot.
I am a 65 year old female, I have had tinnitus for as long as I can remember but lately it has become unbearable, I don't know why maybe just getting older I cannot cope with it as I used to! I have told doctor before about it and was told to live with it, which I have been doing! I recently went for a hearing test within audiologist and she said I have an age related hearing loss of 25% but not bad enough to need aids! I have bought a masker for one ear which thankfully seems to be helping the one side,but can hear ringing still in other side so have now ordered one for the other ear and hope that this will finally bring me relief and stop me having to get up every morning at 4am as I can't sleep any longer than that with the constant ringing! Anyone else found relief with maskers?
