Stopped Taking Thyroid Meds After 4 Years Of Complete - Insurance Won't Cover

I had a complete thyroidectomy four years ago (removed thyroid, two parathyroids and two lymph nodes) and have been taking my meds (112mcg) regularly until I lost my insurance 6 months ago. I can't afford insurance and can't get help with insurance anywhere! I'm now back to work and my health is RAPIDLY declining. I'm retaining fluid like crazy, tired constantly, headaches, severe body cramps, lymph nodes in my neck are so enlarged other people are noticing them, constipated, blurry vision, deep and severe spine pain, ect. I can't afford to pay out of pocket to see a doctor so they can renew my thyroid meds for me! The appointment will cost me around $400 for visit and bloodwork. Are all of these symptoms from being off of my thyroid meds? This has never happened before but I've always been very strict with taking my thyroid meds until now. Btw I'm only 27 years old.

I would like to know just what happens when a person stops taking their thyroid medication; I had a TT a few months ago. Like apparently a lot of other people, I have lost medical insurance. I want to know literally what happens to the body once I quit taking the levothyroxine, and is it painful? How long before a person's body shuts down and coma happens?

Say my Zoloft pooped out and I increased to 75 with no help in 4 weeks, what should I switch to that will help GAD, panic and possibly some agoraphobia?
One dr. says to try Luvox and just switch out the dosage with no weening.
Then I am thinking switching to Lexapro is there a ween process here?
Or, I am thinking of adding in BuSpar to the Zoloft since it has minimal side effects.

Had a thyroidectomy in the middle 90s, and was put on synthroid. Due to insurance changes I haven't been able to get meds for almost 2yrs now. Is my health in danger ?

I am dealing with an intolerance to Thyroid meds. Having been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis 5 years ago my family doc has prescribed every Thyroid med she could think of and various strengths. Side effects were thick itchy rashes, shakiness, massive headaches and tremors. I stopped taking the Thyroid Meds for 2 years and believe me it was no picnic. I had no strength, terrible digestion, heat and cold intolerance, memory loss and on and on and on. I am now on a very low dosage.025mg. My last t3 & t4 test indicates that my levels are very low but because of all the negative side effects I have experienced my doc is terrified to increase the dosage. Along with Fibro,Celiac,Diverticulosis and Hashimoto's life is a bowl of cherries . I would like to hear from someone who is also iodine intolerant and is there a different path I could take..

I went to a new rheumy who specializes in fibro. He spent an hour with me my first visit. I really like him. He typically treats many people with synthroid for fibro because he feels we really have a hypothyroid even though our numbers are good. i do have many symptoms of thyroid, always cold, used to have constipation, dry skin and eyes, heavy periods, etc
He called in a script for synthroid name brand for me, I haven't picked it up yet I guess I am nervous to try it.
He did do my bloodwork, TSh was in guidelines, free T 4 and T3 were in range but at 50% of the range.

I have been on the pill for a year and I stopped taking it just over a month ago. I was having sex just up until I stopped taking it (long distance relationship). Just after I stopped taking it I had a light period but since then I haven't got a period again and it's currently 12 days late. I had some PMS right before I was supposed to get my period but it never came. I'm scared that I could be pregnant because I know a girl who didn't know she was pregnant until it was too late because she was still getting her period! Do you think I could be pregnant or that my period is just irregular (my period was regular before I took the pill).

I've just started taking Citalopram a day ago but already feel the side effects starting. Is it normal for them to start so soon? I feel weirdly sleepy and keep yawning. I also feel a bit shaky and for some reason I can't stop grinding my teeth. Are these symptoms or am I just imagining them because I know that I will be experiencing them soon? I would love for some people to share their experiences with the drug, it's taken me a while to get to the point where I've been comfortable enough to finally talk about my depression and start taking them.

I am a 59 yr. old male and a disabled Veteran. I have been taking Testosterone for the past 15 years every 2 weeks. My doctor took me off of it on June 4th because my red blood count was too high. My body doesn't produce Testosterone anymore because of Hemochromatosis, which is a blood disease which produces too much iron in my blood.

Diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer an year ago and had both glands removed. Did iodine-131 after that. Cancer scan did not indicate any cancer cells spread. Thyroglobulin numbers in my blood was dropping along with my first I-131 treatment until it stopped dropping, that was when my doctor advised me to take a second pill which was about a month ago. Today went back to the doctor and he said that the numbers aren't dropping anymore, so he advised me to check up my lymph and lungs to see if there are cancer cells in those areas.

I have been really happy on this drug for three years now and envisaged staying on it for ever because it suited me so well. I was on 15mg at first which stopped working after a few weeks and then went up to 30 mg which I have been on for three years. My depression has been controlled and I was sleeping really well. Before the mirt, I had to take temazepam every night, but for the past three years I have only had to take it once a fortnight or so, but it is very difficult to get doctors to prescribe it now. Anyway, I have suddenly stopped being able to get to sleep. I have frequent need to urinate and my heart is beating too fast when I can't sleep. This used to be only a couple of nights a month, now it is every night virtually. Also, my depression and anxiety have suddenly worsened.
Do you think the mirt has stopped working? I am reluctant to up the dose if it is going to poop out again, as it will make it more difficult to withdraw from it should I need to. Has anyone else been on this drug long term and had similar experience? I have a doctors appointment a week tomorrow, but was wanting to hear others' experiences before I go.

I've just been diagnosed with Hashimoto, and been doing quite some research. My MD and I decided on Nature-Throid. The lowest dose possible 16,25mg. But I'm terrified of taking it, cause I keep reading about heart related side effects. I must admit that I suffer from anxiety, which doesn't help any. I was wondering if at that low of a dose major side effects are likely? Any experience with Nature-Throid?
My thyroid levels are:
TSH: 3.4
T4: 1.31
T3: 3.5
TPO: 170
TPO: 170

In 2010 I was rushed in hospital with Projectile vomiting and my GP put me on Omeprazole which I have been taking ever since. Should I ask my doctor if I can be taken off them now as I've been alright since then.

I spoke to my Dr. today, he does not want me on Harvoni since I treated with S & O and he feels my carrier will not pay for the meds.He also mentioned I could have build resistance to Sovaldi and I will have a better chance with new meds coming out next year.He gave me appt for March of next year so I made appt with new doc and hope I can achieve what others have done here with the approval process to get Harvoni.

I was diagnosed with gonorrhea by a urine test. The doctor gave an injection/shot and some antibiotics. I am afraid that I also have this bacteria is also in my throat. I want to know if the shot and the antibiotics will kill the bacteria in all my body or if need more antibiotics or another kind?

Has anyone had complete avulsion of hamstring plus tendons. Slipped on decking in October 2014. Still in a lot of pain in sit bone!!. Has anyone got any advice re recovery. Am due to have steroid injection in bum and drain any fluid still there. It just seems a long time I;ve been in pain. I keep being told by medical professionals this is very rare injury!
