has anyone had side affects to do with bone marrow, ie sore throat or mouth ulcers after taking carbimazole, if so how long was you taking them before you noticed these side effects?
View 1 Replieshas any one had a really unbearable sore throat and mouth ulcers i have suffered with htis for 15 months and finding it unbearable, as i cant enjoy anything, and am fed up of docters and a and e.It feels like the ulcers are in my esophacus and i have a horrible wheeze when i lie down.I have had 2 cameras through the nose and had a barium swallow today.My stomach is very bloated all the time and i feel shattered all the time because the pain wakes me up the camera didnt show any cancer thankfully awaiting the results of barium swallow. I take omeprazole and gaviscon.

I read in the leaflet that came with it if you got sore throat STOP taking the tablets and see your doctor, what I would like to know is how bad must the sore throat be to stop taking the tablets? View 22 RepliesI was diagnosed with overactive thyroid just over a month ago-after a few days I had a sore throat-stopped the drug and went to doctor whos said my sore throat was nothing to worry about-no temperature and did a blood test ok and went back on the tablets. I have another sore throat-my appointment with the Consultant isn't until April 17th-what should I do? previous message on this subject are quite old?how bad a sore throat does it have to be before seaking an urgent appointment?
View 10 RepliesHad a sore throat around a week and a half now. Doctor gave me antibiotics for ear and throat infection not working at all. I also got a blood test referral to go for went into get it but the queue was massive so walked out had to get to work. Anyway I have totally forgot about getting bloods done to check if carbimazole is cause of sore throat. Doctor did not tell me to stop carbimazole. Right now I am in so much pain throat is like razor blades and so much pressure in ears. Maybe it is just bad infection anyone else had this while using carbimazole??
View 4 RepliesI have been taking Azathioprine for crohn's for some time and have been lucky not to have had any side effects. For a while I have had a sore throat but not needed any medication. When I read the possible side effects on websites they mention sore throats. Any one else experience this, if so have you spoken to GP or consultant.
View 3 RepliesEaster Sunday i woke up with a strange taste in my mouth. Having had a Lamb curry the night before i thought it was this, however, as the day progressed, I found that everything I had to eat had an aftertaste of manure and made me feel sick. My throat is sore to one side and I feel generall unwell. Yes I have been to the doctor who I thought would give me antibiotics but he just said , you have a temperature, swollen glands, he could not see a throat infection and said it was a virus and I should get better within about 10 days. He sent me to have some blood tests which are due back tomorrow. I do feel generally unwell which is not like me at all.

Its quite scary, it affects my swallowing and I have a very very dry mouth, even when I drink loads of water all day. Hasn't affected my breathing as of yet, but feels like a lump in my throat is blocking it off.
This has been going for three days now.
Doctor said I need a blood test for glandular fever, which is next week.
I mentioned that I think I can feel my epiglottis swollen, and she laughed and said that is all the way down by my adam's apple and would have a job feeling that... even though i've seen many cases online where it's visible above the tongue and often can be felt.
About 7 weeks ago I had been to a roadside food stall. The guy preparing the food wasn't wearing any gloves while preparing the food. Within a minute of preparing the food, I consumed it. I didn't notice any cuts, or bruises on the guy's palms but I couldn't get a close look. Also, I had a very very small ulcer in my mouth (Otherwise my mouth is in good shape) .
I'd like to know if this was a low risk situation and I need to get tested for this?
What's worrying is that I had a very small ulcer then and the food wasn't heated to kill the possible HIV if at all present.
Also, have you ever heard of, even outside your organisation, of any HIV infection through food or through any other non-sexual way?
I've got a question regarding really painful mouth ulcers, I feel like my mouth is full of them right now and just general mouth pain sometimes I can barely open my mouth for the pain in the back of my mouth and jaw, my tongue has a yellow coating a lot of the time Does anyone get this?
I'm finding it hard to deal with it the pain is incredible , then it disappears But a few weeks later will be back I do gargle with salt , use dissolving tablets the gp have corsodyl mouth wash etc I've been losing my voice a lot lately.
about a month ago I messed around with a guy who was HIV positive and newly diagnosed without medication since then I been freaking out. I never had unprotected anal sex and I never will. View 6 RepliesAfter being very ill for over a year I was finally diagnosed with UC I've not managed to get into remission yet I'm on two foam enemas a day and eight tablets plus three iron tablets. I feel so miserable I don't feel like myself anymore I'm constantly tired and weak, joints ache, ulcers in my mouth, acne around my jaw line which has slightly improved since being in the medication. I feel very alone my family and friends have no idea how bad UC is and to be honest neither did I before I was diagnosed I never thought id ever feel this ill I've always been such a positive motivated person, up for going out, walking having fun now I don have the energy at all my sex drive has disappeared and some days I just don't want to get out of bed the only reason I do is to get my son to school! I just want to feel normal again ! Has anyone any advice or suggestions that could help, to be honest I've not been oven any advice on diet although I am a vegetarian and have been since I was 8 I'm now 34!
View 2 RepliesMy son was diagnosed with OLP when he was 8..... But his mouth ulcers started when he was 3! He's 10 now. He has good weeks and he has Horrible weeks. No one has been able to help us relieve his pain. We do have some meds prescribed but none are miracle drugs (I know that doesn't exist. . I just wish it did). The medicine prescribed to him is Methotrexate 2.5 mg tablet - 6 at a time once a week. Also he's to take folic acid with this med. He's not started this yet because he must have blood work done routinely since there is a chance this med will effect his liver .... And he's terrified of needles. He uses Chloraseptic mouth spray very often for the pain. He misses school very often. He sometimes has "mystery fevers" and feels just awful inside. He gets bad headaches. I read on one thread that someone mentioned an OTC med for thrush and an enzyme for candida. I think I might try that for him. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? My sweet boy is in pain and has been for so long and I'm worried that his childhood is being negatively impacted by all these mouth ulcers.
View 33 Repliessore throat,fatigue, pain, no diagnosis Posted 10 minutes ago I'm sorry for the long post but I really need some help. I am 25 years old,female from Bulgaria. Everything started after 2 shots of progesterone done by my gyno. I had high prolactin levels and somewhat low progesterone and my period stopped so that is why she gave me shots. After the second shot I woke up with very bad pain and burning sensations in my sinuses,my whole body was in pain.And there it all begins.For 2 weeks I wasn't getting better, I had a fever (not very high),sinus pain and sore throat. Finally I visited a ENT doctor,she said that there was nothing wrong with me,everything-ears,nose throat looked fine but I asked for a sinus x-ray-it was also fine. Then my gyno advised me to culture my throat and nose. The results were staphylococcus aureus in nose and Moraxella catarrhalis in throat. I was prescribed cefpodoxime (due to antibiogram) took it for several days and I wasn't feeling any better,then my dr switched me to Cefuroxime,it did help at the beginning,I was feeling better but by the time I was taking my last pill all the symptoms returned. My sinuses didn't hurt anymore but my throat was on fire,muscle and joint pain,feverish feeling but no actual fever this time. So I was put on unasyn (Sultamicillin) on IV drip.I was getting no relief and was just feeling very sick from that med,so we stopped it. The I went to another ENT doctor and he told me there was nothing wrong with me, my throat looked fine and I had a little wound in my nose with blood. I had no runny nose. So I did a culture of my throat again and it happened to be Candida Glabrata ( may be because of all those antibiotics) I also had e.coli in my urine.I took one dose of Fosfomycin for my e.coli and it cleared up and I was put on IV drip again with fluconazole for my candida.I also had candida in my vaginal results. I started to get better on fluconazole but again it lasted 3 days and in the end of the treatment I was ill again. My ears started to hurt very badly,all other symptoms continued.I waited 2 weeks after the last antibiotic and did a nose and throat culture again in two different labs and there was no infection found, I also did a vaginal and urine tests again and the urine was fine, had some enterococcus faecalis but in small amounts from my vag microbiology. My gyno said that it is better to not treat it for now because of all the meds I took for those 2 months. Yes,it's been two months and I am only getting worse, my whole body is in pain,I am very fatigued,have the flu feeling sore throat, ear pain,lymph and joint pain,I feel very very ill. And the tests say nothing. On my blood test the only thing that was abnormal was my AST (antistreptolysin-titer) levels were high 310 (from 200 being the norm).Went to a 3rd ENT,he also said everything looked fine, my ears and throat are not inflamed and he said that it wasn't my ears that hurt but my face joints. So I am here,desperate for ome help, not getting better,not knowing what to do now.I started having very bad panic attacks because I think I am dying and no one can find what is that illness. Can it be some autoimmune response to the progesterone shots? I don't know anymore. It's a struggle to get out of bed really.
View 3 RepliesI've just started taking carbimazole and Citalopram and wondered if there is anyone else taking these meds together please? The Citalopram is for anxiety caused by the hyperthyroidism. Has anyone else been in the same position and have you found they've helped or have you had any side effects?
I take my meds at night before I go to bed. So far, I've had a terrible headache and when I get up in the morning I feel almost 'spaced' out and really groggy but nothing major and I'm hoping these will pass once my body gets used to it?
Does anyone else have flare ups of a sore throat and sore oesophagus, the Dr thinks it's acid reflux, ppi's aren't doing anything, now being tested for h pylori bacteria, but can't help thinking that it may be connected to my ASR

I've started my new prescription about a week ago and experiencing symptoms like loose stool and dry mouth etc, is this due to re starting the tablets again? Has anyone else experienced this?
View 2 RepliesI have had them for the past 5+ years now and I have them in my mouth, and throat, sometimes they get around my ear canal, and even have got so back I cannot talk. Most of the time when they are acting up it is hard to eat anything mostly drink lots of ice cold water, or Milk, and eat anything that will slide down easy. I am glad to see that I am not alone in this struggle. I usually feel tired or flu like for a day or so then the sores come in and after a couple days of wanting to crawl in bed and stay there then I cannot eat or talk much because my mouth and throat are blistered so bad. I was beginning to think something was wrong with me until I read your posts. I did not understand why I had them all the time and some people get them once and not again. I guess I have a weak immune system but otherwise I am healthy never have ate a lot of junk, but stress is over the top and this came on when a family issue started. It is in the past but now I get the remnants from all of that for the rest of my life!! Gotta love family. I do by the way love my family, but it is hard sometimes to deal with the drama!! Anyhow Thank you for the posts and making me feel better about being crazy.
View 12 RepliesMy husband has had a weird infection under his nail for years, it comes and goes. Swollen, gross rash, then normal for a while, then flare. After every known treatment for nail infections failed, we found a doctor that said it was a herpes viral infection, that it was likely a form of the herpes encephalitis virus, not herpes simplex virus and that it didn't come from a sexual situation, but likely droplets or contact, which makes sense because he worked in a mancamp for a long time that was very unclean and they got all kinds of junk from each other for lack of hand washing, etc. Anyway, the doc said not to worry about the finger infection spreading unless the sores are open. Not long after he got a skin rash on his back and was diagnosed with shingles, but the rash comes back every now and then and has spread to a small area near his armpit. We don't live in the same state anymore, so we can't go back to that doctor. But recently, a friend of mine in medical school showed us a picture of a herpes encephalitis rash on a man's lower back that he saw in a text book and it looks just like my husband's rash... but we both get regular std testing and have always been negative, but this skin thing has gone on for years. Is it possible to have a herpes virus of some kind, with recurring rash, but NOT have genital herpes or the cold sore kind?
