Small Dose Of Bisoprolol And Alcohol
Apr 21, 2016
I am on a small dose of bisoprolol. It has taken a while to settle but I don't have any problems with the dose. I enjoy wine and wondered if this is ok. I take my meds in the morning.

View 3 RepliesAfter several years of on-off depression and anxiety I finally decided to try medication.
I started on 50mg Sertraline about 8 weeks ago. After a few days of horrible physical side effects I started to feel great. But in the last week I have started to feel not-so-great again. This could be due to a week away where I consumed a fair bit of alcohol and cannabis (after being very sensible since starting the Sertraline).
I'm thinking of asking my doctor to up the dose to 100mg.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced Sertraline "wearing off" after a few months, or being affected by alcohol?
Is anyone else stuck on such a small dose of suboxone. It's probably smaller than a sesame a seed. Still withdraw symptoms. If I don't take it 2 days I feel like I'm gonna jump out of my skin. Plus I already feel so weak tired and sneezing depression etc
View 2 RepliesI've been on FLUOXETINE for nearly two weeks.
Can I drink alcohol? Just a small amount?
I take about 10mg in all on most days, but I still weaken to just a VERY small glass of wine in the evening, anybody else do this I know I shouldn't really but kind of look forward to it.
View 2 RepliesI have been on Sertraline 50mg for 6 weeks, I saw my therapist and she asked how I felt, I told her I did not feel any different, she contacted my Dr. and the Dr. upped my dose to 200mg, this has frightened me, a leap from 50mg to 200mg, has anyone had this outcome, and what were the pro's and con's of this sudden higher dose.
View 8 RepliesIn Ukraine, the dog has bitten me. At the end of treatment, 6 doses of rabies vaccine is recommended in the report. They make 4 dose in Ukraine and I come to my home (Istanbul) and 5. dose is finished. But total five doses of vaccine are made in Turkey. I do not understand why they want to dose 6. I have a healthy body. 6. dose is important? OR optional?
View 2 RepliesI am 30 years old.
Well as the topic mentions i have really small testicles, so small that when my penis is erect they most likely go in me.
My penis is extremely small when flaccid , prob 2-3 inches top if its a good day, but when erect it is about 6 or so ( apparently what they call a grower)
Now i have been suffering from this since i can remember, It has taking a huge amount of my life away, i feel as i would of been a more successful man if i didn't, i avoid at all cost going OUT yes it sucks that bad, i go out only when necessary.
Here is what is weird i guess the good part? i have never been ashamed in the sex act, i mean i wouldn't pull it out until my penis was erect but never had a problem besides a girl saying i had small testicles.
Now i am married and have beautiful children, apparently extremely small testicles does not affect this :) Grateful for that, as in the back of my head i was always concerned if i was going to be able to produce children.
Ok so the problem the big huge problem....
The bulge in my pants... yes many of you might think this is stupid but this is the reason i tend to hide from public. I have considered shoving a sock or something down there but i think it would be worst or maybe it is just the fear of looking funny.
Please do not say people do not look or don't notice because believe it or not they DO, some are even loud and shameless to say "did you see that guy" some stare and some laugh, this goes without fail every single time i am out. Well i will not drag any longer, simply saying that i am suffering in this body i was giving. I wear baggy clothes ( don't like them but have no choice)
Please please !!!! Any solution is welcomed , i have tried using... pumps, stretchers, pills etc nothing does the job, you might be thinking im stupid for trying any of these things put i am desperate and willing to try it all. Sadly i was thinking in my head while someone was staring and laughing that i would gladly give an arm for a normal package ( i know that sounds extreme but it is true)
So again any help? i can not seem to find much information about the subject , i guess my main goal is the testicles since this would give me the bulge i want.
Money wouldn't be a problem, and surgery is very acceptable if it is an option, like i said there is just not enough info about anything.
9 years after 2 cardiac stents angina pain has returned. Doctor doubled my dose of Bisoprolol from 2.5 to 5 now I find my libido has gone from 50% to zero, no erection anymore, is this common, any way around it ?
View 1 RepliesAfter a mild episode of unstable angina I had a single stent inserted in 2010. Since then I take the usual quartet of ramipril (2.5 mg), bisoprolol (2.5 mg), aspirin and simvastatin. I started Phase 4 rehab in January 2011 and now go to the Gym 2/3 times a week. The man aerobic component is a 20 minute row. I was advised not to allow my heart rate to exceed 75% of [220 -73 (my age) -30 = ] 97 but as I became fitter the average HR during rowing is 105 and the peak 111-113.
I feel fine, have never experienced any cardiac symptoms and the HR drops below 80 within 60 secs of stopping.
Am I taking a big risk? If not are there guidelines on HR during exercise for people like me?
I also have Parkinson's (no tremor) and exercise is very helpful in maintaining lung function and muscular tone so I have two reasons for exercising!
I've been taking bisoprolol 2.5mg for about 2 years for my S V T. I'm 30
it's been a lifesaver for me. has all but stopped my palpitations. I'm now 17 weeks pregnant and have just been transferred from midwife led to consultant led at maternity .
she has told me she wants me to stop taking it because their is a small chance i could have a small baby.
i am so worried that my quality of life is going to go back to heart racing and feeling faint.. and feeling awful again...my doctor told me I could continue it. has anyone other ladies took this when pregnant. I get regular scans and baby is big for dates.
I have been on Bisoprolol since March and I have gained over a stone in weight, but no one else has mentioned any weight gain. Anyone else has gained weight, and if so how have they been able to control it. I am on a very healthy diet and don't eat any rubbish.
View 2 RepliesHi all,
about 4 weeks ago I was at our caravan with my family. At quarter to one in the morning, I started sweating profusely; tingling in arms and my heart was pacing very fast. I had no choice but to call an ambulance. On the ambulance they queried SVT and AF??
once at a and e they gave me Adenosine, which was awful. They then gave me another drug IV. After 7 hours! My heartbeat returned to a much more acceptable beat. I was then discharged on 10 mg Bisoprolol. Subsequent visits to hospital with "apparent" heart complaints and a combination of other physical problems a number of individuals have said that they thought 10mg was a bit on the high side?
since then I have developed an unwanted byproduct. I believe to be suffering from some sort of anxiety disorder. I don't believe I'm suffering from any side effects - apart from a slow pulse of 48, which my partner is somewhat concerned about, but I believe that is a result of the bisoprolol. I do feel a little "heavy" and "non energetic" but other than that just a feeling of being a little scared.
i get my 24hour ECG tape next Friday and hopefully an appointment with the cardiologist for a definitive diagnosis.
what I want to know is, is SVT a result of lifestyle and can I do something about it or is a congenital problem and there's nothing I can do about it and it was going to happen anyway.
I take Bisoprolol as part of a cocktail to reduce my blood pressure. I also take 40 mg Adalat and 10 mg Ramipril each day. I have been taking this medication for around two years now and whilst my blood pressure has been reduced I feel so so tired. I have always been healthy and energetic, I've never experienced this feeling of tiredness. I have gained weight, my hands and ankles swell up. I'm going back to my doctor to have my medication re-evaluated...
View 1 RepliesI have been on this drug (5 mg/day) since having an M.I. on Jan 2nd 2007.
I have developed a tickly cough that stops me getting to sleep at nights, my metabolism is in my boots and I have put on over 56lbs in weight.
I feel slow and lethargic all the time.
I spoke to my GP at my yearly review this week and told him I don't want to take this drug anymore. He said he can't recommend i stop taking it as it is "protecting" my heart.
I never had a BP problem before my Angina attack and the M.I. always being 128/78 all my life.
So, I have decided to stop taking both the bisoprolol and the ramipril and monitor my BP 3 times a day.
I think doctors are too scared about getting it wrong to try any alternatives.
I have been on 1.25mg of bisoprolol for nearly a year now. I was put on it due to an irregular heartbeat. my heart would either miss a beat or totally go into overdrive. The doctor never sent me for further tests. So my question is what causes this problem. My heart still jumps about but not as much. but sometimes when I do a little exercise I feel very odd for example can't lay on my left side because it hurts around my heart plus my chest can feel tight and today my heart rate is 52 where normally its in its 80's.
View 1 RepliesI have several mosquito bites that are really sore, is it safe to take antihistamenes whilst I am taking bisoprolol
View 1 RepliesI am 56 on statins and aspirin for cholesterol. ~2 months ago I got tinnitus out of the blue, thought it was hypertension, so I bought a heart monitor and found out that in fact, to my surprise, my blood pressure was 170+/90. Went to the doctor and he put me on Bisoprolol, first month 2.5mg/day (no change in blood pressure), last 30 days 5mg. My blood pressure has now lowered to 140/70 so I should be quite happy BUT 1, 2 and 3 weeks ago I got three scary episodes, waking up in the middle of the night with a feeling of severe tightness in my chest, very bad cold sweats etc. Back to the doc he thinks it's unstable angina and scared the &***!? out of me and that I should have called 999 etc. He's referred me to a cardiologist next week. My question is, since I've never had angina or heart problems in my life, could it be that Bisoprolol itself is causing these episodes and it is not angina at all? I know it is prescribed FOR angina but I also see it has a huge list of side effects.
View 1 RepliesAfter comments I read on here I went to my Doctor (I live in Spain) and asked why I was actually taking Bisoprolol, i have been taking 2.5 mg a day since Dec 2012, I had a stroke in November 2011, I take statins and sintrome *spanish warfrin* The only reason he gave me bisoprolol is because I told him I was slightly breathless walking up hills, I do not have high blood pressure but I do have a slight irregular heart beat........which may have caused my stroke.........they are not sure........I used to smoke and drink however which also did not help!
If I needed the Bisoprolol, why did the consultant not give it to me in 2011? when I asked the Dr he said it is to prevent another stroke, not to cure anything but I should continue taking.it.......I have not felt any advantage taking the drug and like many people on here feel more tired and have gained weight as I have little energy to do anything. Not sure what to do really, I am frightened to stop taking it, so going to try taking in the evenings and see if less tired.
Was prescribed 5mg bisoprolol 5 days ago after admission to hospital with atrial fibrillation. It seems to be working in terms of getting the pulse under control, but I have been suffering really debilitating tiredness, to the point where I sometimes barely have the energy to walk from one room to another. The medics at the hospital told me that if I got "short of breath" then I should go back into hospital, but it isn't so much shortness of breath as feeling completely leaden, especially walking up stairs.
Something I don't understand is whether this is the effect of the drug, or the result of the underlying condition, ie that my heart has been working very inefficiently. (Why doesn't anybody tell us these things?). Degree of tiredness also seems to be influenced by things such as whether I have just slept or eaten, time of day, and anxiety/stress levels!
Does anyone else have any experiences they can share about this?
I am new to this forum and really would welcome some advice..
In February following a period of sudden very high blood pressure I was put on Amlopidine 5mg and Bisoprolol 2.5mg. I had a few headaches, felt tired but my blood pressure and pulse reduced and was consistently at 128/72 and 66.
My gp suggested me reduce my bisoprolol to 1.25mg and as my blood pressure and pulse stayed pretty much the same has now suggested I stop taking the bisoprolol. I am now on day 3 of this and do not feel great. I am extremely tired, have headaches and although my blood pressure is slightly increased 132/80 pulse 76 I am concerned how I feel. I have also read that side effects can be serious.
