Severe Pain In Joints And Muscles With Fever But No Arthritis ?
Jun 8, 2015
My symptoms are severe pain in joints and sometimes muscles that always come with high fever, sore throat and weird cough (small but forced cough) a salmon colored rash and weakness in my joints. The pain is so bad that I scream. I am unable to care for myself. I am so stiff for hours. The pain has progressed throughout the year. I am at a loss. I live in Idaho and my rheumatologist is sending me to Salt Lake City Utah because they have a university hospital with more specialist. I swear to her that I have Stills Disease but she sais I have the symptoms but not necessarily all of the blood results to match.
My cbc always shows an infection, I am always slightly anemic but ferritin is good, not low nor high.
Here is my recent lab work. This is how desperate I am

I do not like being on the prednisone because of the side effects but I can not handle the non stop pain when I don't have it. Such a little 5 mg dose saves my life. The pain is so bad that all I can do is pray to pass out. I can not take pain pills because they cause severe depression.

I have recently been diagnosed with Vit D deficiency...the level in my blood was under 10 (it was actually at 3) when it should have been at least over 50. I think it has been this low for at least a year. I didn't get any sunshine at all last year (severe hot flushes so avoided sunshine) without realising the consequences. My diet has not been ideal either. After several blood tests to test thyroid, and lots of other things, the locum GP came up with a severe Vitamin D deficiency.
Over the last 6 to 8 months my health has noticeably deteriorated with severe tiredness, no energy, really bad aches and pains, with severe pain in my joints, disturbed sleep, very depressed, etc. Plus I am pre menopausal and have depression, all of which are being treated separately and fairly successfully.
Anyway a locum GP put me on 20000iu of Vit D daily for two weeks which I finished this week...and now my usual GP has put me on a long term daily maintenance dose of 800iu Vit D (and didn't seem sure why I was on a daily dose of the 20000).
Anyway I had a business trip yesterday, 6 hours total travelling and 6 hours in meeting, and half hour walks to the station and back....and the result on my body has been catastrophic. Really aching all over, severe pains in my arms and legs, both much more than usual, bad back, and just generally feel awful. Is this to be expected? Is this normal with a vit D deficiency. How long will it be before I start to see any benefits. The doc mentioned it will be at least another 6 months before my blood levels are tested but I work full time, am a carer at home and really want to start feeling better soon.

I've just had a blood test which showed vitamin D deficiency. I have very little energy, my muscles and joints are stiff and painful, and my feet really hurt when I try to walk any distance. I've always been very fit and active so I'm wondering whether I should push myself to exercise even though I don't feel like it or whether I risk making my condition worse by pushing myself too hard. I'm taking vitamin D supplements but I've seen from other posts on this forum that it might take months to get better. I find swimming less painful than walking or cycling so maybe that is okay?

I believe a have a hemorrhoid. There is a rather large, hard bump under the skin just forward on the anal opening (1/2 inch) and a little to the left side. It started about 5 days ago with a slight irritation. Two days ago the bump grew and it became uncomfortable to sit. Yesterday and today the pain is unbearable. I have trouble turning in bed, sitting up, sitting on the toilet, or just moving about. This morning I noticed pinkish fluid discharge and I thought the hemorrhoid burst. The pain is even worse and I have trouble urinating and I have a fever. I've had this before in the past and it always burst and the pain went away immediately. However, this time it's a little different. Could it be something more than a typical hemorrhoid? I'm in Thailand and the medical quality is, well, I rather be back home at this time.

I have had moderate to severe joint pain since April, and was recently diagnosed with Parvovirus B19. Apparently the virus can cause severe Arthralgia that lasts upto 9 months. On good days my pain level is at a 3. On bad days it will go upto a 6/7. Yesterday I stepped on a metal wire and it got stuck in my foot. The urgent care center recommended I get a tetanus shot, since I have not had one in over 10 years. I asked what the side effects were, and they said my arm would be a little sore.
Well, " a little sore" does not quite describe it. My arm was in excruciating pain all night and still really bad today. I can't even lift it more that a couple inches. Also, all my joints on my left side ( side I got the shot) were in excruiating pain 8-9. I just sat in bed and cried last night. I took 3 tylenol arthritis's and an extra Meloxicam that I have for joint pain and it did nothing, My arthritis continues to be really bad today. I called the urgent care and asked if I could come back in to get some medication to work until the pain stops. They said they could not do that, and that the tetanus shot would not aggrivate arthritis.
Let me know if anyone else has experienced worsened arthritis symptoms after a vaccination or shot. I wanted to get the flu shot soon, but I am scared now. Can the Flu shot make me hurt this bad as well? Let me know If I should tell the doctor and ask for additional pain medication. Or if the doctor will just tell me " No".

And since i had also been cracking my toes the toes on my right foot make a pop too. I am kinda worried because I am only 13.

My BP when I take it at home is anything from 116/71 ,to 133/77 on the meds , I have stopped taking Losartan for 2 week's now and BP is 136/76 to 149/74 when I go to the docs the readings are always high 162/84 for example. I really can't cope with the pain when taking these tablet's especially in my knees has anyone else experienced this , is there even a tablet for BP that doesn't make you feel ill .I have stopped these but not told the doc yet as can't face being put on another tablet I am feeling so well at the moment I take my BP daily it's usually 140 something over 82 is that really too high for my age.

I am 62 with Multiple Sclerosis. and it was boggling my mind that the legs were aching and pain just like i had just run 17 - 100 metre dashes.Thought it was MS but it just did not make sense(after 35 years i know my MS)...and then I had two days of Heartburn like a Volcano and found this Forum and read about Heartburn problems and Muscles Aching.
My question --- does anybody know absolutely for sure that there travelling aches and pains in their muscles are from Menopause-- I had to stop exercising as my legs were so sore....I do recognize after 8 years of exercise it is the key for a low maintenance menopause

In the space of six weeks I have been put on two different types of statins. The first ones Atorvastatin, made my joints ache and I already suffer from osteoarthritis. I was then put on another type and my face swelled and I could not pass urine well. The doctor said to go back to the Atorvastatin but the chemical levels in my liver was high, the reason that I was taken off them in the first place. The doc said that it was ok! I have not taken any for a week now and I am just getting back to being able to walk! I am very confused and worried as my cholesterol is high. Having said this, I DO know why my levels are high, tis because I have not looked after myself for over a year due to having a lot of stress and eating rubbish. I am trying to look after myself now but I am very worried about the whole affair. I am 7 on the cholesterol scale

I had protected sex few weeks ago with a prostitute, but I don't know if the condom broke or not (I think not). 2~3 weeks later I had a mild soar throat (no fever, sneezing, running nose or headache only cough). few days ago, I noticed my tongue is covered in a white creamy thing. Also my fingers joints aches a little bit (few seconds and then it goes away. The feeling is just like when you press on your joints, or when you feel so cold) I'm really worried that i could've been infected with HIV
- how bad should an HIV soar throat be?
- how long does it take for thrush to start forming on the tongue after having the intercourse?
- how bad HIV muscle/joints pain should be and for how long does it take for a person to start feeling pain after having the intercourse?

After numerous medical consultations and exams I finally was referred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge to a specialist in the audiologist department.
It appears that I have an issue with the Stapedial reflex muscles. This causes me pain resulting from normal level sounds.
They have prescribed relaxation and sound therapy rather than surgical treatment at this stage.

Pain in buttock muscles, knee (with additional feeling of bubbling on back of thigh) and groin, is this sciatica?

I previously posted about my night sweats but now I have a new symptom. Mostly in the morning, my forehead and sometimes my face feels hot but I don't have a fever. In fact my temp. will be a degree below normal. My body will feel a little warm but not as much as my face and forehead. Does this sound like mild hot flashes?

I have had lower back pain for years. It always gets worse when lying down for long periods or bending over for long periods. I've also had sciatic pain in my left leg for years. It comes and goes. Recently I have started to get the same pain in my right leg. The sciatic pain as gotten severe. I also have some other new symptoms. One new symptom is searing pain in my knee sometimes when I'm standing or when I bend my leg all the way in. The other is sharp pain in my pelvic area. Are these connected? Can you please possibly tell me what is going on? The only notable health history I have is ovarian cysts.

So for the last few weeks or longer I was sporadically feeling a lumpiness in my throat, especially while sleeping. I thought it was how I lie in bed while reading. Then this lumpiness, this weird feeling that isn't exactly painful just awkward and uncomfortable is a daily annoyance. So bad in fact I felt nausea from the feeling in my neck. Sort of like something is rolling up and out; of course nothing ever did. So now this feeling his constant I feel like I'm either vomiting or choking. Lovely! So I also have asthma so my breathing is not 100% in the first place, add tightness to my throat and what? Full blown panic attack sure, lets not sleep tonight. So I finally drag my feet to a Dr. guess what PA says I have an enlarged thyroid, i.e. Goiter. So now I am to have a thyroid ultrasound blood work. Now this goiter is extremely uncomfortable, borderline painful; especially when I swallow, cough or yawn (oh yawning *****). Is this simply because I am now aware of this enlargement in my body. The pain and discomfort seemed to become more acute during a 24 hour fever spike, which is what motivated me see a Dr in the first place.

My 50 year old husband has been a Type 1 diabetic since he was 21. It was a late presenting of juvenile diabetes or so they said then. He has always done well managing his diabetes, wearing a pump for the past 15 or so years. In the past week or so, he has begun to have severe pain/tingling in his feet/ankles - mainly at night when he is trying to go to sleep. He usually has to get up and walk several times before he can finally sleep - he is only getting about four hours of sleep per night. He has an appointment with his dr - but not until the week after New Years.

Before I start I'll just state that I'm 19 years old, slim and generally healthy. I've been suffering with a cough for 3 weeks now, and it only seems to be getting worse. It is a constant violent cough, dry, but wet if that makes sense? I cough up clear mucus. It seems worse at night, I can't lie down without having a coughing fit and the pain in my throat and my ribs is unbearable I also have awful pains in my upper back, and weird shooting nerve pains in my arms. I've been to the doctors twice, first time he listened to my heart and lungs said they were clear and said I had Costochondritis which is causing my pain. Didn't say anything about my cough. So I went back to see a different doctor, by now I was also having pains in my left leg and googling this and as always it comes up with the worst case scenario... Blood clots which got me really worked up. She told me I didn't have blood clots, just by feeling my leg and saying it was soft, and said I have acid reflux which is causing my cough and all the other symptoms. I still can't stop worrying that my cough is something much worse and I have been misdiagnosed and there is something wrong with my lungs I also keep worrying about the pain in my leg, which is getting worse... I feel as if it was just brushed off but when I read online about others who ended up having blood clots their symptoms were just like mine and I'm so scared of this happening to me
I realise I have really bad health anxiety, but it makes it worse that I haven't even had proper tests or anything done to rule out the worst things!
I'm finding it so hard to deal with this, I feel like this anxiety is taking over my life Thanks to anyone who reads this essay of a post, I feel I just needed it off my chest.

Ok. So i have broken my fifth metatarsal and have been put into a non weight bearing air cast for two weeks.
Due to the break, the doctor has given me a blood thinner Innohep 4500 UI to take everyday to prevent a blood clot.
My problem is: For the past 3 days my calf (same leg as broken foot) has felt like it's been cramping. Elevating it relieves the pain a little but i am required to attend my courses at University - meaning i'm on crutches all day. Sitting/standing makes the pain increase. The pain has gone from mild to severe; i can almost cry from the pain coming from my calf.
It is extremely painful when trying to stretch any of the muscles in my right leg now, Should I be concerned about a potential clot? (I do not show any of the typical signs i.e. the swelling/heat/redness) Or is this muscle related? I have trawled through the net for similar cases but cannot find anything!
