View 6 RepliesI have had pain/discomfort in my leg for 3 weeks now it started as calf pain which changed positions from behind knee to lower down to ankle and shin. It would come and go throughout the day but seems worse when sitting down. There is no swelling or redness. It has now progressed and I have pain/discomfort in my bum cheek and upper thigh down to my ankle again it comes and goes and is worse when sitting doesn't really bother me when I'm walking around. It is mostly in my left leg although occasionally I feel discomfort in right leg also but majority of time it is my left.
View 7 RepliesI'm a 21 year old female & I was diagnosed with Sciatica in December & it's been driving me crazy since. I have had back problems in the past as I done gymnastics from a young age & studied make-up artistry for two years, both which can strain your back, also my job of working in retail has not helped. I have been in & out of the doctor's & it recently got so bad I had to go to hospital, I have been referred to physio however the waiting list is at least 10 weeks long before I will get to see someone. I've been taking advice from doctor's, I am on medication however I don't find it is helping, I have been doing stretches, yoga, going swimming, walking for as long as I can before the pain gets unbearable & to no avail. It's gotten so bad I can't sleep at night because I can't lie in a position without feeling shooting pains through my calf or my thigh. I'm really at my wits end, I'm so frustrated & down all the time because the pain is constant & it's stopping me from living my normal life & going out at the weekend with my friends. Can anyone recommend anything else that might help? The pain started in my lower back & has now spread to my calf & in the past few days has been making my foot feel numb.

View 4 RepliesFor the past 6 years I've been having shooting agonising pains up both backs of legs for no apparent reason. (bending forwards can make it worse)
I lost 4 stones in weight when my dad suddenly died, the weight went from around my bum and thigh area. I've since put weight on - not as much as I lost.
I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago.
I'm told that it sounds like sciatica - from people who have the same thing and my doc said the same.
Recently it has got much worse, after walking for a few minutes both legs go numb from the foot up, I have trouble with my balance anyway (MD, Surgery etc) this makes it worse. I'm also in pain if I stand still - basically I can't, I have to sit or walk (i use a stick to help with inner ear balance trouble, which docs / specialist can do nothing about)
My doc has said "it will go away" - yes, right, when?
I am a RN and I have had years of low back pain with a history of herniated
discs from L3-S1. These symptoms would aggravate me from time to time but, being a nurse, with a
familial history of arthritis I thought it was just par for the course. Until three months ago when i
developed sciatica pain down my left leg and it was present every day, and it ruined my summer.
I couldn't walk without pain, bend without pain and basically was bedridden and depressed all
summer. I am healthy, took NO meds up to this point and I was always a pretty active person. I finally
decided to have the surgery. On Monday 09/30/13 I had a microdiscectomy and was pleasantly
surprised with how easy it was to go home the next day. My pain was minimal, honestly, I do not
think I even needed the Oxycodone, it wasn't that bad. However, I did need the Valium, I noticed
the incision was sore in the am and was happy to have the Valium. By day 3 post op, I was off all
of the narcotic meds and only taking ibuprofen and tylenol (valium at night). Day 5, I was walking, no numbness, no tingling, doing fine... Until I coughed. I literally re herniated from a cough and ended
up back in the hospital undergoing a second round of emergency surgery to remove the extruded
disc. I now have numbness in my left foot and toes that I am so sad about. I have read and read on
line and all that I have heard is that it very rarely goes away, yet the surgeon says it will? Who do I
believe? And how long does it take? I just want my life back (much like everyone here) so, any
information you can provide me with would be very much appreciated. I'm still not having any pain to speak of so, for those of you worried about post op pain, it's really really not bad at all!
Has anyone else had sciatica pain when pregnant or not? And what do you recommend for relief? My left leg has been hurting like a sharp pain with tingling and numbness off and on. I don't know what to do to help since Tylenol didn't help...
View 5 RepliesI've just recently started running. At first it went fine, and I began to gradually increase my endurance and speed, really happy, etc. etc, until recently, I've been struck down by a mysterious malady.
While I run, my calves tighten up, and it becomes nearly impossible to finish the run. It's not plantar fasciitis or achilles tendonitis (no swelling, for one thing), but I can't consult a real doctor because I'm living in Japan and have no insurance and a very limited command of the language.
I did purchase new and good shoes, but no dice. I've consulted numerous of my track-involved friends, who offered various bits of contradictory advice. One person advised about 20 minutes of stretching before and after a run. Another said to not stretch before running, and stretch each calf for 3 sets of 30 seconds each. Those are the two extremes, and most suggestions fall somewhere in the middle. I make a point of doing a couple minutes of stretching (basic calf and thigh stretches), but nothing extensive, and I'm not sure what alterations I should make to my routine. I also took some time off, and just walked for my exercise, but when I started running again the problem returned.
Please help, any assistance would be appreciated. I'm just starting to get into running and just starting to get into shape, and I'm afraid that if this affliction keeps on going I will lose the motivation I've managed to fire up.
Was diagnosed a few weeks back and steroid cream helped loads but tonight I have what can only be described as a tightness to my clit ( sorry tmi) almost like it's being pulled back ...
View 6 RepliesI had bilateral mastectomies ten years ago. I first had reconstruction with implants a year and a half after the mastectomies, and then I had the implants removed (they felt tight and uncomfortable) and DIEP reconstruction (where they used my abdominal tissue and fat for reconstruction) about two years after the initial mastectomies.
Now, ten years later, I experience chest tightness when I run. It is very uncomfortable, and I have trouble catching my breath. It feels like the muscles tighten up as I run. When I slow down and walk, the sensation abates. I even saw a cardiologist because of this uncomfortable chest tightening sensation with exercise.
Is this related to the intitial breast implant surgery, where the surgeon placed the implants under the muscle tissue?
How can I know if I am having cardiac symptoms vs. muscle tightness due to all the chest muscle and tissue manipulation after the mastectomies?
My 13 year old son had a cardiac ablation in late Nov 13, after being diagnosed with supraventricular re entrant tachycardia.
He suffers from continuous single ectopic beats which don't give him symptoms so he can deal with them even if they are a nuisance.
The problem is he has a few other symptoms - 3 or 4 ectopic beats at a time which can make him breathless - no flips or flutters but chest tightness, shortness of breath and throat pain during exertion- short of breath without any other symptom - and now last wed an episode of very strong palpitations which lasted for about 15 secs but were very painful and in his own words made him feel weird, he felt a surge through his body, (maybe a change in blood pressure?) Anyone had any of these post ablation? Also he ectopic beats flip and flops seem to get worse upon exertion
I am 20 hours post-op and I'm not having any pain. Once the pain medicine I got from the hospital wore off. I'm almost 100% free of discomfort (I would rate what I have as 1 out of 10 when walking, no pain sleeping or sitting).
So is this cause for concern? I'm ready to call my doctor but all the post op papers I got from him were concerning having pain, not being pain free.
I am stitched and very well taped up. No problems around the wound and it is tender if I touch it but nothing like I experienced when I got the vasectomy originally (I wasn't stitched or taped up for that one, just a small band aid as the incision was very small).
Is this ok? I thought I'd at least feel the slight burning sensation of normal healing but I feel nothing but a slight tightness around my scrotum and that could be just the bandage.
Or am I speaking too soon and will it hurt later?
I'm an 18yr male and I have this tightness in my scalp. It's like my hair is being pulled back. I got a haircut 2 days ago and this is when the tightness started. I don't style my hair or anything, just leave it towel dryed. My hairstyle is like Paul McCartney from the Beatles. I read that it's a tension/stress headache. I don't have stress just mild depression from time to time. It's really uncomfortable and I want it to go away. Anything I can do?
View 1 RepliesI am postmenopausal, 56 years old and had a hysterectomy at 42. In the past 12 months I have had all sorts of problems with Vulvar skin, burning, tightness you name it and I am terribly uncomfortable. I often feel like something is stuck. I have been to a Gym and don't have any sign of prolapse etc. but do have signs of "old Lichen Sclerosus" but I don't have typical white patches, itch but he absorption of labia minora. I am using some Ovestin now but perhaps not enough?

has anyone had anything similar?
I have heard a lot about lengthening the Achilles muscle to ease tightness in order to help kids who have cerebral palsy. My grand daughter finds her physiotherapy sessions so stressful and painful that she's not getting the benefit she needs and I am wondering if anyone has tried this surgery and can tell me has it helped? Any information will be greatly appreciated as it is heartbreaking to see a little one in so much pain and not able to do things a normal child can.
View 1 RepliesI am 4 weeks post TRH and was doing really well but went to physio today and mentioned that my thigh was aching a bit and so she gave it a deep massage to get the blood flowing and now it is very painful .
I have dosed myself up with mess for the night and hope it eases off .
Have any other hippies had bad thigh pain ?
could anxiety cause such symptoms?
View 7 RepliesI have a lump on the inside of my thigh, right beside my groin. It's not painful. It is under the skin, rounded and has a rubbery feel to it but quite solid. It's about 2cm in diameter.
Does anyone know what this can be?
I have a small red/pink lump on the top of thigh which looks like a bite. It's about the size of a bite, a bit smaller than a 5p. I went to the doctors about 4 weeks ago and he didn't seem concerned and said it was an inflamed hair follicle. I was wondering whether if there has been an infection or inflamed tissue it takes a long time to go away or it leaves scarred tissue. I am really worried about cancer as my mum had breast cancer last year. I am only 20 but im paranoid that its a cancerous lump as its hard and doesn't move.
