View 2 RepliesI previously posted about my night sweats but now I have a new symptom. Mostly in the morning, my forehead and sometimes my face feels hot but I don't have a fever. In fact my temp. will be a degree below normal. My body will feel a little warm but not as much as my face and forehead. Does this sound like mild hot flashes?
View 4 RepliesI have general questions on those 3 above. Recently I have experience side effects ( I think) from the above medication and would like to decide if it is worth taking anything in addition to prednisone. Side effects are mainly with stomach and lately with cramps in the leg muscles. First I had constipation for month or so; lately it is soft stool, and frequent bathroom visits. I think side effects are caused by complete change in the bacteria culture in the intestines killed by antibiotics. What also does not help is PPI interfering with mineral absorption and ( most likely) causing low potassium and magnesium levels and thus muscle cramps.
So:
- How often are antibiotics and PPI given along with prednisone?
- How necessary is PPI if I take split dose, 5 mg each, and with lots of yogurt?
- After taper, at what level of pred one does not need antibiotics and/or PPI?
I have my monthly appointment with rheumatologist this week and would like to prepare for it.
Unprotected sex with a female that I know well (but do you really know people? she says i have nothing to worry about) , happened approx 7 weeks ago. Approximately 3 weeks post, was diagnosed with Prostatitis. I'm a 46 y/o male and have crohn's. The provider stated usually caused by bacteria, or often times is an unknown cause. All my blood work CBC, CMP etc came back within normal ranges. We did a gonorrhea and Chlamydia test via urine specimen and it was negative as well. Antibiotic, seemed to clear it up, though still seem to have mild flare now and then.
I googled the condition just to look for some additional information. I see that it is one of the most common urologic conditions for men and seems to hit the 40-50 year range most. I was concerned when I saw that HIV was listed. To this I am freaked out and have become very stressed. The provider wasn't even going to do the G&C tests until I asked if we should - and she didn't seem too concerned.
Question:
1) Is Prostatitis an indication of an HIV infection? An ARS symptom? Do I have a need to worry? (understanding a test is the way to rule out, which I will have done)
2) Can my test at this point in time be considered conclusive once completed?
I was diagnosed with prostatitis and have been on FloMax since then. I haven't had any pain or complications from prostatitis for 2 months. I need advice if decide to have anal sex with a partner(of course, using a condom), will it cause any problems or negatively harm my prostate? In other words, is it ok to have anal sex considering my current condition.
View 1 RepliesAnyone on here have chronic prostatitis. I've dealt with mine for 6 + years now. It's debilitating! Not sure if it came from infected bladder stones or unprotected sex.
View 7 RepliesI am looking for herbs that can cure prostatitis. Have any of you found a good remedy for this? I am not interested in homeopathy as such, as I had bad experienced with that in the past, but just plain herbs would be great. If anyone can post their information up here, that would be so useful!

View 2 RepliesI have had a mild sore throat for 2 weeks. Last night I gargled with warm salt water and this morning it is twice as bad. My ears are popping a little and it is now a little difficult to swallow. No Other symptoms. I can not take antibiotics because they make me very sick, no matter what kind the doctors give me. What can I do?

View 2 RepliesHaving had Sepsis 18 months ago and not rid of infections, I now have Prostatitis with bacterial infections of the Prostate. Antibiotics do not seem to be working and i have been reading about Hyperbaric treatment to get at deep sourced infection and clean the blood.
View 1 RepliesIn short, I (27) was diagnosed with bladder neck stenosis and underwent BNI surgery 4 months ago. I was unable to pee at all. My urinary symptoms are much improved and although my flow rate is still on the low side (15ml/sec), I can fully empty my bladder.
I was in the hospital for a week before doctors diagnosed the reason for my urinary retention. A CT scan showed I had mild prostatitis.
Now I feel I have recovered somewhat but about 2.5 weeks ago, pain associated with prostatitis returned. I went to a Urologist who told me to get a few tests done: CBC, Urine DR, bladder PVR and uroflowmetry. He also prescribed 10 days of antibiotics. The tests seem to be normal with the exception of 4-6 pus cells in my urine. I have not returned to the doctor since.
The pain went away in about a week but has returned. No fever, just a mild constant pain in by upper buttocks area which gets better in the morning. I also have occasional burning pain between my scrotum and anus. My penis feels sore as if I just ejaculated. Occasionally there is sharp pain in the shaft of my penis. I am also experiencing frequent nocturnal emissions. My libido is almost non-existent but when I try I am able to achieve a decent erection.
I have had these symptoms on and off for a few years but although annoying, I did nothing. My GP just tells me to take painkillers. I have read about the kinds of prostatitis and nobody has been able to tell me what exactly is wrong. I have taken 4 rounds of antibiotics (7-10 days) in the last 4 months. It may be of bacterial origin; I was diagnosed with epididymitis 6 months ago with prostatitis symptoms and it cleared up with Cipro.
Have had flare ups occasionally for 30 years. Like most people multiple antibiotics never were helpful. A turp at 37 was a mistake. Prostatitis is caused by trauma; injury, cycling, excessive sexual activity, sitting, etc. some or all. For most people particularly younger guys, excessive sexual activity is the cause. This is like a sports injury to the gland, the nerves or the muscles in the area, just plain over use. Limit sexual activity, once a week or less if you can handle it. Eventually the symptoms, burning, frequency, pain, etc. will dissipate on their own after a couple of months things will improve a great deal. If you have irritated it once, remember you can do it again and the symptoms will return. Forget the ED meds till everything calms down and then moderation is likely best.
View 8 RepliesNow 22 , at the age of 13 , i started to have urination difficulties , standing in front of the toilet for about an hour , feeling the urge to urinate even though i know at the same time that my bladder is almost empty and finally a drop or two come , it continued for about a year then it was gone , for the last three years i have been having the habit of excessive masturbation ( sometimes 4 times per day ) , most of the time i go directly into sleep after masturbation , and as result the usual need to urinate after masturbation is suppressed and the urine is retained till i woke whereas i feel its reflux in the ureter , during this period whenever i go to sleep with full bladder ( regardless after masturbation or not ) , the urge to empty my bladder never woke me up , but what came up recently that i started to drink half liter of beer before i go into sleep directly every night for the last 3 days , yesterday i felt my prostate hard as rock , this sensation is mild so far , it is expressed more when i sit on something hard or try to urinate , now today this morning when masturbated after 2 days of cutting masturbation off , this mild sensation became to increase , then afterward masturbation when i try empty my bladder i felt more pain and couldn't pass urine , when i tried about 2 hours later , i managed to do it hardly after i tried to strain my bladder , whereas during these 2 hours i felt urine retention but with much less of the natural urge which drive you to the bathroom but i still feel the pain of reflux at up the ureters , the one thing which is so clear , that my pain is expressed from the prostate as hardening or feeling it like a rock , with mild sensation of burning . Also i think it is important to mention that at the age of 15 i got " pilonidal sinus " and underwent surgery to remove it but , i stopped checking it for the last 5 years and i have been feeling it pain coming back for about a year or more , but i ignored it , whereas i am referring that i may have a case of prostatitis with infection originated from the fistula , i also doubt it may be prostate cancer , even i know the chances of having it at such age is almost nil , this is why i am thinking to take the test of " PSA "

View 3 RepliesFew years ago, i was diagnosed with gonorrhea and I was left untreated for 1.5 months.
Later, my symptom of gonorrhea has gone. However, symptoms of prostatitis developed and lasted till now (its almost
3 years). I have taken so many antibiotics for a year. But finally they seemed useless to my pain of prostatitis (so i quit it). Now the symptoms are mild. But it really bothers me. I have thought to suicide, because I think i am still contagious of STD. I am afraid gonorrhea is hiding in my prostate, causing prostatitis.
I have done so many tests (PCR of semen, prostatic fluid). They came back neg. However, I wonder if these tests are false neg (because the false neg reports made me left untreated my problem of gonorrhea. I am afraid i would pass STD to my gf...I am afraid i could not father a child..these problems annoy me so much..Sometimes i would think its better to die rather than suffer..can someone professional or experienced help me?
