View 1 RepliesI notice lot of people talk about treating arthritis but does anyone here have prostatitis due to reactive arthritis or arthritis caused by prostatitis?
View 1 RepliesThe best way about a vasectomy is to NOT have one. Anyone who thinks that they have got away without problems just can not say anything as PVPS can come on at any time until we die I know a friend who is in his mid-seventies and has more pain than in the whole of his life.
View 4 RepliesHi I am looking for help I have just had my second vasectomy done just 2 weeks ago due to a failed vasectomy the first time. I have 2 large lumps 1 at the incision site and 1 and the opposite end of the incision and they are both causing me a lot of pain which runs down my leg I have seen my doctor but has told me to give it a couple of months but I didn't get any pain like this the first time. Can a second vasectomy increase any chances of side effects or chronic pain.
View 1 RepliesI suffered from anxiety as a side effect of a postnatal thyroid condition - my child is now 18 months old. I was treated with Citalopram and my thyroid condition was treated successfully. After weaning sensibly off Citalopram before Christmas I was feeling fine but still not 100%. I was given Trimethoprim for a suspected UTI infection last week and the next day I suffered a full on anxiety attack whilst at the shops. I seemed to get more anxious by the day, and my physical symptoms got worse - raging thirst, swollen and white furry tongue, aching limbs but numbness all down my right leg, numb fingers, clumsiness, tearful and felt slow mentally - my speech even became affected. The lower back ache that prompted the urine test got more persistent and I now have a pain in my left hip socket. I thought I was suffering from MS which only heightened my anxiety. I didn't really connect it with the antibiotics. I then looked on this website and saw a LOT of negative comments regarding this drug. I stopped on day 5 and went to the doctor yesterday feeling very tearful. I was then given 20mg Citalopram and some painkillers and was told it was probably a trapped nerve and not down to the antibiotics. The worse thing was that my urine sample had been normal so needn't have taken it in the first place!! I took one Citalopram yesterday and was completely spaced out and felt sick. Luckily my husband took a day off work but I can't function like that as a full time mum to a toddler. What I would like to know is has anyone had an experience like this and should I wait a few days to see if I feel better without the Citalopram, in the hope that the anxiety was caused by the Trimethoprim. Ideally I don't want to start Citalopram only to go through withdrawal etc. We also want to add to our family at some point so ideally want to be drug free. Am considering a more herbal approach if the anxiety presents itself again like St Johns Wort
View 10 RepliesUnprotected sex with a female that I know well (but do you really know people? she says i have nothing to worry about) , happened approx 7 weeks ago. Approximately 3 weeks post, was diagnosed with Prostatitis. I'm a 46 y/o male and have crohn's. The provider stated usually caused by bacteria, or often times is an unknown cause. All my blood work CBC, CMP etc came back within normal ranges. We did a gonorrhea and Chlamydia test via urine specimen and it was negative as well. Antibiotic, seemed to clear it up, though still seem to have mild flare now and then.
I googled the condition just to look for some additional information. I see that it is one of the most common urologic conditions for men and seems to hit the 40-50 year range most. I was concerned when I saw that HIV was listed. To this I am freaked out and have become very stressed. The provider wasn't even going to do the G&C tests until I asked if we should - and she didn't seem too concerned.
Question:
1) Is Prostatitis an indication of an HIV infection? An ARS symptom? Do I have a need to worry? (understanding a test is the way to rule out, which I will have done)
2) Can my test at this point in time be considered conclusive once completed?
I was diagnosed with prostatitis and have been on FloMax since then. I haven't had any pain or complications from prostatitis for 2 months. I need advice if decide to have anal sex with a partner(of course, using a condom), will it cause any problems or negatively harm my prostate? In other words, is it ok to have anal sex considering my current condition.
View 1 RepliesAnyone on here have chronic prostatitis. I've dealt with mine for 6 + years now. It's debilitating! Not sure if it came from infected bladder stones or unprotected sex.
View 7 RepliesI am 32 years old male. I was diagnosed with prostatitis. What does it mean? Anyone have prostatitis? I also have fever. Can antibiotics help me?
View 1 RepliesI am looking for herbs that can cure prostatitis. Have any of you found a good remedy for this? I am not interested in homeopathy as such, as I had bad experienced with that in the past, but just plain herbs would be great. If anyone can post their information up here, that would be so useful!
View 1 RepliesIt has brought so many problems.
View 1 RepliesI suffer from prostatitis. I am on therapy now, but my doctor didn’t give me any instructions on what I should avoid drinking or eating. Anyway, my main concern is coffee. Can I drink coffee if I suffer from prostatitis?
View 1 RepliesMy husband humerus was broken six weeks ago on left arm. Doctor is trying to heal with brace. He has stopped wearing the sling, and his hand and arm are extremely swollen. Is that normal? What can he do to reduce the swelling. How long before the brace comes off?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to tell what caused scars on your lungs just from a CT scan? Do different causes look different?
View 2 RepliesI have been experiencing extreme menstrual cramping since my sophomore year of high school (I am 19). It usually occurs the first two days of my period, accompanied by nausea and gas. I have been prescribed ketorolac by my GYN, but it has not been working lately. Last month, the cramping caused me to faint twice and be sent to the local hospital. The emergency room doctor (after the pain went away) told me to ask my GYN for an ultrasound of my uterus. I was not able to schedule an appointment, due to my college being in an extremely small town. Now my period is about to come around again. Is there anything I can do? What should I ask my GYN when I see her? And if I faint and vomit again, should I even bother going to the hospital again?
View 1 RepliesI used Flonase for 10 days. And I know that it is not a side effect listed by the company by have had really terrible anxiety every since. It started as nervousness then a feeling like I had drank about 20 cups of coffee in a sort time. I could not relax, i was overly emotional - crying... Which is SOOOO not like me. I couldn't eat or sleep...Then my body started tingling all over - especially the feet and legs. All of this is constant... not in waves.... At the ER they attributed it all to anxiety and said that I possibly had a reaction the steroid. That anything was possible. They gave me some good anti anxiety meds and sent me home to ride it out. So the good news is i can now sleep because of the meds but each morning when I wake up I can still feel the tingling starting to come back. And every morning I am hopeful it's just going to be over and I won't have to take more drugs. Can anyone who has experienced the similar tell me how long it was until you felt normal? I stopped it 5 days ago! I'm getting worried I am never going to feel normal again.

View 2 RepliesOnly been on Gabapentin for 2 weeks and at a low dose but I have developed acid reflux. I have been off this medication for 6 days so I was hoping the acid reflux would go away. It hasn`t. My doctor told me to try Zantac but that hasn`t worked. I fortunately do not have heartburn but the bitter taste in my mouth constantly is just taking it's toll. I'm cutting out dairy and changing my diet but of course I am in the early stages so have just not got into this sudden dietary change. I read so much on the next I would have thought there was a prescription drug or over the counter drug that would help.
View 8 Repliesafter I had TIA stroke, or mini-stroke 3 years ago I’ve been on Plavix, together with Zocor (I’m taking the generic simvastatin since last year). Even though I’ve completely changed my eating habits and I try to be as active as possible, I seem to be gaining weight constantly. I’m now some 20 lbs heavier compared to when I had the stroke.
Is it possible that Zocor is contributing to my weight gain? And if that’s the case what can I do about it?
Having had Sepsis 18 months ago and not rid of infections, I now have Prostatitis with bacterial infections of the Prostate. Antibiotics do not seem to be working and i have been reading about Hyperbaric treatment to get at deep sourced infection and clean the blood.
View 1 RepliesIn short, I (27) was diagnosed with bladder neck stenosis and underwent BNI surgery 4 months ago. I was unable to pee at all. My urinary symptoms are much improved and although my flow rate is still on the low side (15ml/sec), I can fully empty my bladder.
I was in the hospital for a week before doctors diagnosed the reason for my urinary retention. A CT scan showed I had mild prostatitis.
Now I feel I have recovered somewhat but about 2.5 weeks ago, pain associated with prostatitis returned. I went to a Urologist who told me to get a few tests done: CBC, Urine DR, bladder PVR and uroflowmetry. He also prescribed 10 days of antibiotics. The tests seem to be normal with the exception of 4-6 pus cells in my urine. I have not returned to the doctor since.
The pain went away in about a week but has returned. No fever, just a mild constant pain in by upper buttocks area which gets better in the morning. I also have occasional burning pain between my scrotum and anus. My penis feels sore as if I just ejaculated. Occasionally there is sharp pain in the shaft of my penis. I am also experiencing frequent nocturnal emissions. My libido is almost non-existent but when I try I am able to achieve a decent erection.
I have had these symptoms on and off for a few years but although annoying, I did nothing. My GP just tells me to take painkillers. I have read about the kinds of prostatitis and nobody has been able to tell me what exactly is wrong. I have taken 4 rounds of antibiotics (7-10 days) in the last 4 months. It may be of bacterial origin; I was diagnosed with epididymitis 6 months ago with prostatitis symptoms and it cleared up with Cipro.
