I'm pregnant with my second baby. With my first I developed preeclampsia at 36 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now and have been officially diagnosed with preeclampsia since 20 weeks. I'm glad I've made it this far with no major complications... I've done 2 24 hour urine collections
View 4 RepliesI had preeclampsia with my last baby (born June 3, 2014) and I'm about 7 weeks pregnant. I'm terrified of getting it again. I was diagnosed with it at 35 weeks. I delivered my son and he was in the NICU for 8 days. I've read that if it was severe and early there is more of a risk, but if it was later and less severe there's a 20% rate of recurrence. I gained 50 pounds with my first. I have been trying to eat better since I found out. I ate like crap the first time. I also didn't take prenatal a because iron made me sick but I'm going to try this time. I'm just so terrified of having it again and getting another bad Doctor. Is there any mom who has had it with their first & been okay with the second? Just to give me a tad bit of excitement rather than creeping fear.

View 1 RepliesSo i've been diagnosed with preeclampsia and the past few days i've had swelling in my right ankle and pain all the way up my right leg my blood pressure has been high i have a headache i don't feel right i called l&d they said it sounds like nothing and im worried i don't know what to do im scheduled to be induced next friday but i feel like my drs are just idiots with how they've been jerking me around here lately

View 3 RepliesThey think I have preeclampsia I have to do this 24hr pee test. I went in because my doctor said I was showing signs of preterm labor & the labor and delivery doctor said I wasn't and that my baby is fine and i'm 2 cm dilated. I'm only 35 weeks and they said it's normal. BUT now they wanna say I may have preeclampsia? What does it mean or have any of u had it ?? If I have it I may have to be induced
View 5 RepliesWell my doctors have said I am showing signs of preeclampsia and im 38w3d with a baby boy I keep having really bad headaches and spotty/blurry vision I also am very swollen have very high blood pressure and have a bunch of protein in my urine went to the emergency room last night because I couldn't manage the pain anymore and they did my blood pressure 6 times and it was really high each time then they checked my swelling told me i need to be put on bed rest and do a 24 hour urine collection ... im scared im only18 and i've changed and grew up so much for my son my sister almost died from preeclampsia I don't want my son to have anything wrong with him because they are stalling to deliver him and I don't want to have to choose my life or his life I wish they would do something and do it fast im in so much pain on a scale of 0-10im about a 20 someone please give me advice should I call the other local hospital and ask for a second opinion?
View 10 RepliesI had extreme preeclampsia with my daughter 6 years ago, so I took precaution on this pregnancy. I was watching my diet and trying to take it easy. But yet it seems the condition had not eluded me. I thought it wouldn't be quite so scary this time, since I knew more about it, but I was wrong. I'm not sure if it is because it was caught so much earlier since we were watching for it, I'm only 31 1/2 weeks, or what. Today I did the 24 hr urine test and tomorrow we'll get the results and then we go from there. Other than the preeclampsia, baby and I are doing great, which is why I'm hoping for the best tomorrow.

I also had a trace of protein in my urine. View 2 RepliesI'm 25 weeks pregnant with my sixth child I have been having Braxton Hicks everyday for the last 3 weeks they are stronger and stronger last longerthey seem to be 5 to 10 minutes apart I have never experienced this with any of my children so this is My first child in my 30's should I go into the hospital and get checked out? Or not worry and just wait until the 19th for my appointment?

Since then things on the hip front have been good
I fell pregnant with my first child when I was 25, and sadly my pregnancy was badly affected by pre-eclampsia, resulting in my son being born at 30 weeks (he's fine now).
I've been doing some research about both Perthes and Pre-eclampsia, separately, and come across some articles that suggest both could be caused by blood clotting probs (thrombophilia/factor V Leiden etc.).
I just wondered if any ladies who suffered with Perthes as a child had any incidence of preeclampsia during pregnancy or pregnancy-induced-hypertension?

I just know I'm going to be sick in the morning from lack of sleep it's nothing new :( only 2 more weeks then hopefully some time to relax whatever that is with a 2 year old also lol .... View 2 RepliesI am 21 weeks. 4th pregnancy FIRST to be successful. Our last appts have been 4 weeks apart. We went on the 22nd and go back the 20th. When we go back there is no U/S. I am not feeling noticeable kicks and such yet and knowing that we aren't having an U/S is just increasing tmour anxiety. If I was feeling him kick and move I know id feel better but the not knowing...... Any tips on working past the anxiety? We try not to worry and I know that worry isn't good for me or our little boy yet it's very hard not to worry.
