Pain / Pressure Under Right Bottom Rib
Nov 21, 2014
I am 33, female. I have had pretty much a constant pain under my bottom right rib for about a year now. On a daily basis, it mainly feels like pressure with dull aching that sometimes radiates under my right shoulder blade. Eating sometimes makes it worse, yet there doesn't seem to be a specific "trigger" food. Laying on my left side tends to make the pain turn to more of a stabbing feeling. I can specifically point to exactly where it is. It's tender to the touch; sometimes worse than others. Occasionally, I feel like I'm fighting infection (feverish, achy) for no reason. I don't drink or smoke, am pretty active, and I am pretty good about what I eat (healthy weight) I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder last year that came up negative; I will get the results from another ultrasound on Tuesday but I have a feeling that I will get the same results. I've looked up as much as I know how and I can't seem to find anything that fits the symptoms. I've tried everything for any gastrointestinal issues and nothing has helped at all.

I've always had back pain in some form, but however, for the last few weeks especially, there has been horrible pain. To explain where the pain is, the major part that has a lot of pain to it, it like on the right side of my lower back, and I can feel something in there when I lay down on my back especially, something throbbing, and when it twitches really bad, it is almost like a shock. I can feel something near my spine when I twist and turn as well that hurts. I have to be careful how I move a certain way, because the pain makes me jerk a little bit. Another example of this is I had to go to a job interview where you had to go through a physical. The nurse told me to lie down on the bed there, and then she took my right leg, bent it at the knee, and slowly pulled it to the right. As gently as she did this, my lower back hurt a lot when she had done that. There was one time about 1 one week ago where that pain in my back seared up a little bit, and then went down my leg, almost felt like maybe the sciatic nerve was pinched or something. But that went away, but the pain in my lower back is still there.
Now, I do have a hunch back. I always have, and its growing worse. I'm overweight too. I've been sick for the last year, and haven't been able to drive or work. I am going out though this month with a friend to make some money doing low impact work. I sit at my computer, scrunched over yes, and its hard to remain straight. This makes the bottom of my rib cage hurt so much if I sit this long of a time. It feels like something is missing in there somehow.
To give you some stats on me:
I'm 25
Height is 5 foot 11 inches
Weight is 272 pounds
Belly is big lol, chest is small. My grandma told me the other day i looked like I was pregnant.

I have had this 3 times in the last few months and never before. My last one was last night. Yes they have all woken me in the middle of the night. The pain was so excruciating I didn't know what to do with myself. I tried putting a cold towel on the spot but it didn't really help and I went very dizzy and was on the verge of passing out. I blamed the cold towel, but now I know differently. I took some painkillers but I couldn't believe when after about 20 minutes it went then I was fine. I put it down to chronic wind! The next time was about 6 weeks later and a similar thing but not quite as bad, I rolled around the bed then walked up and down in a fast pace and eventually it went. Then last night, it was as bad as the first, I was really worried, again, I hoped it wouldn't last and didn't take any painkillers. I again paced for floor in a serious walking to and fro and found that was the only thing that helped. I will still go to the doctors just to be on the safe side, but I am pretty convinced that I have proctalgia fugax.

I am extremely frustrated. I have been sick since Aug 27 with extreme back pain. The pain is right below the bottom of my bra strap on the right side (slightly above where the I thought the kidneys are located). I am also having pain in the right side and rt groin area. The Dr's say that I have a lot of blood and crystals in my urine, but the CT scans don't show any kidney stones. The CT scan did show that the right kidney was swollen and the ER DR said that either the urethra or ureter (can't remember which) was swollen and enlarged as if I had passed a stone. I had an appointment with a urologist last week, and even before introducing himself, he told me it wasn't a kidney stone and referred me to an Ortho DR. He didn't examine me at all - did not touch me. He did suggest that I have cystscope, but said it would not help my back pain. Therefore, I didn't do it. I am usually a very tough girl. When I gave birth to my son several years ago, I didn't utter a single complaint (natural childbirth). But several times over that past few weeks, I have found myself in tears because the pain is so bad. I have had everything checked - gall bladder, liver, pancreas, spleen .....everything. What is a girl to do? I don't normally take any pain meds or narcotics. I am usually extremely healthy.

4-5 days now i been having this annoying pain in my bottom 2 front teeth. I do not know what to do. I brushed, i've taken advil for the pain and it still is not going away. I been told by family its because i rub my tongue against them all the time. Could that be it? Is it something else more serious? Should i go to the dentist? I just want answers on what this is and want it to go away because it is driving me insane.

I have been dealing with the first few months of CRPS which started as burning hot and has changed to a freezing foot that turns blue or purple. Lately I have noticed the bottom of my foot will be ice cold but the top of my foot is normal temp, my toes are like ice. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am battling the workers comp nightmare right now and I hate to tell them about this as it may complicate an already horrible experience dealing with them.

It is my right foot only. Heel pain, and basically all of my foot. I wear inserts plus an extra heel cushion. I been to the foot doctor and gave me a antibiotic and he recommended icing and heating and stretching bottom of foot. Any other suggestions?

I had PTTD reconstructive surgery on Feb. 24th. I am still NWB and in the hard cast.
I have been good about icing and elevating, and now the swelling is rarely an issue. However, now that the cast is much looser, I am very aware of the feeling that my foot is turning inwards... as in...It feels like i'm "standing" on the outside of my foot. If I prop the foot up so that the bottom of my foot is all fully touching the bottom of the cast, I have significant pain along that outside area from what feels like right under my ankle to just below the ball of my foot. Is there any chance that I am healing "crookedly" due to the cast being loose? Although I can't put weight on it, just straightening my leg completely will cause that "rolling out" and pain.
On an unrelated note:
Is there anything that I can do for nerve pain at this point in my recovery? I am no longer taking the "heavy" pain medication. I am just taking Advil and Tylenol. I am finding, however, that these do nothing for the nerve pain. Is there anything that I can do besides going back to narcotics? I'm wary of taking them for too long, but the real issue is that I would rather be clear-headed.

I'm having a lot of pain on the outside bottom of my left foot. It came on pretty suddenly and has gotten worse over the past three days. It's not that swollen, but I do have very poor circulation to my hands and feet. I now have some bruising on ankle and shin that are specific to the areas that start feeling pain when it really starts hurting. In the morning it feels better but it only takes a little bit of walking for all the pain to come back.

I am a 32 year old male and currently my BP is 225/180. And that is on Adalat XL, HCT, Carvedilol and Fosinopril.
Other than hypertension I am a healthy non smoker, likes a glass of vino every now and again, tried weed once when I was 16 and no other drug use ever. I am an avid mountain biker, always hiking outdoors with my dogs. I am 6'1 265lbs, I do crossfit and power lift (although I have gained 10 lbs since taking a break for a minor shoulder/bicep strain)
Doctors have given me meds for depression and anxiety and ruled those out. Have had MRI, CT, MIBG, ECG's, EEG,s ultrasounds looking for pheochromocytoma.
My last heart trace showed abnormal T-waves showing my heart is starting to see stress, and this does worry me.
One sign of my high blood pressure is suboccipital pain, while always there it does increase in relation to my BP. While doing physio for my shoulder my therapist indicated there is some artery impingement in my neck. Having read that the carotid artery do to constriction can cause impingement on the vagus nerve, is it possible that the suboccipital pain isn't a result of hypertension but a causing factor?

I sprained my ankle a couple weeks ago and everything is feeling great except if I sit Indian style and apply pressure to the outer side of my heel I get a very. Sharp pain that goes away as soon as I let off of it. It doesn't hurt at all when I walk or run and put upward pressure on the heel. Only when pressure is applied from the side of the heel bone. Any ideas?

For about a week or so I've been having some slight numbness. It started as tingling in my lower face, but now much of my body has a slight numbness to it. It's not complete numbness, as I can still feel pressure/pain/temperature, but it seems to be getting worse. I've had a small amount of back pain recently as well, but no real injuries/trauma that I can remember. Can a simply back issue be causing this diffuse numbness? Is there any chance this is all permanent? Or could a chiropractor/PT set things straight?

Started over a year ago with head pressure in back of head and upper neck causing nausea and dizziness. The symptoms also come with neck soreness and stiffness. Sometime it's a burning pain up the neck to where it connects to brain and radiates to forehead. It's so miserable. I have had sinus ct scans, Mri, mra, and tons of blood work and can't find nothing. The weirdest symptom I get and want to find someone with insight on is that during this my top of head and neck get ice cold to touch.

I am a fit, healthy 28 year old guy who has spontaneously developed severe high blood pressure, temporal pressure headaches, dizzy spells and blocked ears. The symptoms vary, with acute periods lasting a couple hours and occurring on a weekly basis. Generally an acute period is characterized by severe headaches, needing to lie down, blocked ears and extreme lethargy.
I have had CT’s and MRI’s of the brain and cervical spine, PET scans, ECHO’s, a multitude of blood tests and various other tests with no abnormalities.
I gym 4 times a week, eat healthy and work as a hairdresser, so my lifestyle is pretty healthy overall.
This condition is starting to limit my lifestyle and with two years of no answers I am putting it out there for someone to recognize or provide advice about what could potentially be going on!

For as long as I can remember I have always had a fast heart rate, I can often feel my heart beating in my chest and it feels like I can hear it in my ears. I also have low blood pressure, although it isn't low enough to need medication. Often I feel light headed, I don't know how to explain the sensation but the closest I can describe it is that once I fainted and got a similar feeling just before, it is almost like a rush of blood to the head? Sometimes I get a pain in my chest that is sudden and like a stabbing pain, it happens in the centre of my chest, slightly to the left, where you assume your heart is i guess. When this happens I can only take very shallow breaths or I get more stabbing pains, this happens fairly infrequently which is why I haven't been to the doctors about it. Does anyone know what might be wrong with me?

26 yr old female. Blood pressure is 120/80 exactly with a heart rate of 73. But I suffer daily with chest pains all over the place and back and neck pain. Everyday...panic related? Over exaggerated? Are my readings normal? Should I worry about the pains in my chest with this kind of reading? Also...as you can tell my mind races. Feeling so exhausted and very alone.

Iv'e been feeling head pressure and slight ear pressure for over 3 weeks now and it has been a nightmare for me. I went to the ER a couple of times and they diagnosed me with tension headaches. I do have a history of anxiety but I must say that I've never experienced such discomfort. Tylenol, Naproxen, nothing helps it go away thus far... I had CT of my brain done which came back normal as well, blood work too and that came back normal as well. I'm currently taking antibiotics because I was told that I have fluid in my ears but the antibiotics are not helping at all. I guess I'm not convinced that anxiety is causing these symptoms. Normally, during my anxiety attacks I experience heart palpitations, hot flashes and shortness of breath and it lasts only like 15 minutes or so, but this head pressure is ongoing all day nonstop. It makes me feel like I'm going to pass out but I know I'm not. Each day I wake up hoping and praying that it's gone for good but that day has not gotten here yet.
