View 1 RepliesI'm 37 years old. I've been diagnosed with PCOS and Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease) when I was 25. My symptoms include: weight gain, water retention, leg swelling, hair loss, awful hirsutism, bloating, periodically growing cysts, and periodic urinary tract pain.
I don't eat red meat and dairy. I try to limit processed carbohydrates consumption (bread, pasta etc). I sometimes eat soy products but they don't go well with my thyroid. I don't exercise enough.
All the above mentioned symptoms have gotten worse in the last 13 months. I have a "beard" that I need to remove at least twice a week. I went from 125 lbs (56 kg) to 139 lbs (63 kg)! I can't fit into my clothes at all. My calves get so swelled during the day, I gave up wearing boots in winter and wearing skirts, because the look huge.
Right now, I'm having one of my "flairs". My right ovary is burning and so is the rest of my abdomen, urinary tract included.
Doctors are always happy with my results. And oddly enough my blood tests always come back normal. Hormones included, except the estrogen that seems to be on the (acceptably) lower side. I haven't tested my levels of DHT. (My doctors never prescribe that test. Well, they never prescribe the one for estrogen; I paid for that one myself a few weeks ago). Whenever I have an ultrasound they confirm the PCOS as well as the fact that my right ovary is enlarged. But they’re never worried.
My thyroid therapy seems to be off. My endo changed it two months ago, from levothyrox to euthyral (combination of T3 and T4). And I don't feel great. I always feel a lump in my throat. I'm experiencing lack of energy and enthusiasm (too little thyroid hormone), along with occasional heart palpitations (too much thyroid hormone). It was supposed to make me feel better and help the weight loss. It made me feel worse with the mixed symptoms of hypo and hyper thyroid.
I'm thinking about fasting (juice/water), going raw, eating only during 8H a day (mostly veggies nad fish), eliminating gluten all together.
My endorsement thickness is 6.4 mm at 13th day and right ovary small and left ovary follicles. is this normal?
we are trying for baby. My age is 29 .
Today I coughed, one single cough, and had a shooting pain around my right ovary. I am a mother of a 8 month old. And intercourse is very painful.
View 1 RepliesI was just wondering who was on metformin and what dosage i've currently been put on 500mg one at minute to see how i get on with it anyone else on this and how are you with it?
View 10 RepliesI was diagnosed PCOS around 1 year ago.
I was prescribed a month ago some Metformin and I was advised by the doctors I would have a bleed so far this has not happened for me, can someone tell me if it induced a bleed for them? My periods are extremely irregular my last one was December and before that I don't even know! I am 21 now and i have been with my boyfriend since i was 17 so we are obviously getting to a stage in our life were we want a family of our own and with pcos it seems impossible and it certainly has me questioning that after nearly 4 years of unprotected sex am i EVER going to have a family?
I've looked into the symptoms of pcos and I think I may have it. I'm 22, 5'7, very slim but in the past year or so I've come out in dread full acne all over my back, shoulders and tops of arms, chest and face. I also have hair all over my stomach which I've had for quite sometime, and now it's growing up to my chest . I feel so hideous!! Saw my GP a few weeks ago as the spots are very sore and she just said it's one of things and refused to prescribe me the pill as I'm not in a proper relationship!!! She didn't look at my back or chest she just looked at my face and said yes there are spots there and printed me off a sheet about pms which is from this website and pretty much said on ya bike!
I know it can affect fertility which I would be livid about.
I found out I'm pregnant 2 days ago on mine and my husband's birthday... However I'm a by worried, I lost an ovary 2 years ago and the only one that I have left I was diagnosed with pcos a couple months ago. My question is "does anyone know if this will harm the baby in any way?" I'm going to the doctor tomorrow but I'm just trying to prepare myself for anything that she might say...
View 2 RepliesI went thru transvaginal ultrasound today..it's my 10 th day today...
there are 6-7 follicles in each ovary ..
dominant follicle in left ovary
small follicles in right
Right ovary (0.6 * 0.5 cm) (0.6*0.5 cm)
left ovary (1.8 *1.5 cm ) (0.6*0.5 cm)
what does it show about my ovarian reserve ?
My second day FSH is 6.92mIU/ml
LH is 3.84mIU/ml
47 with what looks like a solid mass on my right ovary. Have been seen by a reputable gynecologist who doesn't think it is cancer. 2.9 cm. Took a the CA 125 test all normal. At first he thought it was a hemorrhagic cyst but, it has not changed size and has been there for close to 3 months.
No septations, no blood flow. He think it could be a fibroma but, not sure.
Going for an MRI. Worried. No history of any cancer on any side of my family. None of any kind.
Have been going through menopause for a few years. Periods are changing and some heavier than others. Been skipping off an on for a few years.
Cyst, mass is ovoid in shape.
Any ideas? So worried. But hopeful it is nothing. Hoping to avoid surgery.
I went to the dr for a BV infection and 15 days of light bleeding and heavy discharge. I was sent in for an ultrasound and the discovery was:
Thickening of the endometrium with irregular margins measuring at 23 mm at its thickest. also in my right ovary they found a complex solid appearing area measuring 22x17x17mm which they said could reflect a hemmorrhagic cyst though an endometrioma should not be ruled out. I have to wait until March 2nd to see the specialist on this and I must say I am beyond freaking out out on this... any advice
I am late on my periods by 6 days and i have no symptoms of pregnancy so far. I had two pregnancy tests done but both turned out to be negative. what should i do? I have pcos and don't know if i am really pregnant or is it the pcos which is delaying my MC.
View 4 RepliesA few months before I eventually got pregnant, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries after having an infernal scan. When I was pregnant, I will admit, I forgot about PCOS. My first period post pregnancy arrived when my son was 9 months and it lasted about 12 hours in total. My next period was a good 6-7 weeks after that, lasting about a week, then I had a period about 3-4 weeks after that lasting 7-10 days and then I had another 2 weeks after that. It has triggered, could this be PCOS? Should I see my doctor about the irregular periods or should I be expecting this after having a baby? I didn't know if PCOS could disappear whilst being pregnant?
View 1 RepliesI am almost 16 years old. About 8 months ago I was diagnosed with pcos. I have been so confused about am I infertile? can I have kids? And so on. (I don't need any lecture on how I'm to young so please don't.) I have recently been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend a lot. I took for birth control for two months and stopped before I met him. I have never missed a period but I haven't had my period in two months now. Can someone please explain to me what's going on? Could I be pregnant? I've had a few symptoms but I feel like my mind is playing tricks on me.
View 1 RepliesI've recently been diagnoses with PCOS after not having periods for 18 months and the only help I received was being told to lose weight, they didn't even worry about the fact I've not had a period for a year and a half (which worried me when before that I had a period every 28-30 days)
Me and my partner TTC on 17th June (after having a period and my cervix and mucus indicating ovulation) and I took a pregnancy test today (I know it's early but I am so impatient) and it came back negative. But I've been feeling all the symptoms of pregnancy, sickness, headaches, cramping, back pain, areolas darkening, breast tenderness, insomnia (I just can't seem to get comfortable) and I just know something doesn't feel normal as I know my body well.
I just wanted to know what I should do, I worry that if I am pregnant my hormone levels might cause a miscarriage as they only said my testosterone levels were high but didn't tell me how high or if it could cause a difficult pregnancy.
Should I just wait as see if I get a BFP or should I go to the doctors and ask for a blood test.
I am waiting for results to find out if I am pregnant for the first time since finding out I have pcos but one thing is confusing me and always has done, pcos causes your hormonal levels to become imbalanced and making the male hormones become too high so would this not mask the actual levels in your body for tests to pick up??? Because the way I see it and no one will explain it to me, surely it would have to elevate to become "normal" and then have to go even higher before a test will pick up the levels? If someone could answer this for me I would be so grateful as I have wondered this for literally years and now I have loads of symptoms including sickness, a 'pressure' just above my knicker line, constantly hungry (not like me at all!!), extremely emotional and easily start crying (again very much not like me, usually takes a lot to make me cry. ...usually) and always extremely tired. Have been to socs and she said it sounds like I am pregnant even saying the sleepiness was the clincher but I am worried about the test results.

View 3 RepliesI have had breast cancer and have been on lupron shots. I can't be on these shots forever so my doctor and I Have talked about tubal and ovary removal. I have had terrible joint pain in my knees from the shots which prevent me from walking and doing the active sports I love to do. Has anyone who has had this surgery experienced the same joint pain and have long term problems?
View 1 RepliesI've had scans which show suspected PCOS but my doctor couldn't diagnose is (weird). I have since changed my GP and he has booked me in for another scan. For the past 2 months I've had a small bruise on my left side. Just up and in from my hip bone. You can see a slight bruise on skin too.
I have a very irregular cycle especially since my miscarriage in October.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the bruising after a period?
I have recently been told by the doctor that I may have PCOS. However I have a few questions around my recent blood test results and therefore was wondering if anyone could help answer some of my questions.
To give a little bit of information on my background, I have suffered from back and chest acne since I was at high school. I also got it on one cheek on my face which has left scars. My chest and face cleared up by the time I had finished high school but my back acne was still severe and until this day it is still really bad. ( I am now 21). Obviously over the years I have been seeing a dermatologist who has given me many forms of medication and creams. NOTHING WORKED. I have also recently been on Roaccutane. HOWEVER... I have had problems with my cervix and bleeding and never got on with the implant that I had to go on whilst taking Roaccutane because I wasn't allowed on the pill as it cause my cervix to produce abnormal cells and bleed. I therefore was sent for tests and scans and it was then that the hospital sent over a letter to my doctor who said they suspected I have PCOS because of the cysts on my ovaries. The doctor however did not read this until after I suggested to him that as the Roaccutane did not work, maybe there is something causing my acne that we are missing, and it was then that he finally discovered the letter about them suspecting I have PCOS. (Roaccutane apparently does not work with PCOS).
Anyway... this leads me on to my question. I have had the blood tests which was meant to be on the 21st day of my cycle but I have come on my period late and therefore was wondering if this will affect the results? My results came back normal. I haven't had my 3rd day cycle blood tests yet though however. Can your tests still be normal if you have PCOS?
