View 2 RepliesAbout two days ago I had a pretty hard fall where I caught myself with my hands. My hands were completely fine with the exception of my middle finger. The tip felt very sensitive almost like it was raw. Even the most gentle touch bothered it. I thought maybe there was a splinter in it, but no. The skin wasn't broken. Today the fingertip pain is gone, but is replaced by a tender bump that is in the dead center of the top joint right beneath my finger tip. It is very faintly blue also where the knot it. Never experienced this before. Anyone have an idea what it is?
View 3 RepliesI have a red blotchy rash on my ring finger. It does not hurt nor burn. It is not where my ring is, it is above past my knuckle. It comes and goes.
View 5 RepliesDon't know how I've hurt my finger, but have a hard knot on knuckle, whole finger swollen can't bend very painful? What is this?
View 3 RepliesI've got a finger with some hard skin on the tip. It does not layer and if you try and bite or pick it off it comes back. I can file it smooth. It seems to have not spread. Any ideas for a general treatment I can try on it?
View 1 RepliesI've had this thing on my pinky finger since I was younger. It just won't go away. I have no idea what it is. I've tried filing the skin but it temporarily make some of the hard skin go away. The skin keeps coming back.
View 1 RepliesI am 18 and back in May I guess I "jammed" my finger. I say I guess because I really don't know WHAT exactly happened. My two dogs got into a little fit and when I was separating the two of them I don't know what I did, but I really messed up my finger. After it all happened my hand hurt REALLY REALLY bad. It also started swelling pretty much immediately. I waited a couple days and then went to the ER because I figured maybe I dislocated my finger or something. They did an X-ray and came back and said there was nothing wrong, and probably a sprain so they sent me home with an ace bandage and some ibuprofen. Fast forward to now.
The swelling in my hand has gone away after about two months of not moving it a lot and keeping it wrapped up. But each time I completely straighten (like I am stretching my hand) out, my ring finger makes a clicking noise and kind of pops up. Moving it certain ways, making a fist, putting pressure, pulling, or grasping something wrong hurts extremely bad. I can feel it move down at the base of my finger (like my last knuckle). It has caused a problem for me because it hurts with most normal things that I do. Even typing this is irritating.
So I finally went to an orthopedic and he looked at my hand and X-rays and said he isn't sure what it is and he recommends me to see a hand surgeon.
I did. I drove almost 2 hours each way to see this doctor and here's what happened in a span of 3 different visits.
He suspected trigger finger even though he said certain symptoms were odd. He gave me a cortisone injection into my left ring finger and OMG that was painful. But to be honest that pain from the swelling of the injection was about as bad as my hand felt right after it happened. But sadly that didn't help. So my doctor sent me to get an MRI. With the results of the MRI, he told me that he saw swelling in my finger and that he thinks is in the sheath but said he doesn't know what is causing that. So he told me he was stumped and should see someone who is more of a specialist and gave me a few names. None of them take my insurance.
So I decided to put all of my info out here and see if someone has had something similar happen or knows what might be going on with my finger.
I will also post below the "findings" on my MRI report.
"There is a focus of marrow edema involving the dorsal aspect at the base of proximal phalanx fourth digit and adjacent dorsal aspect head of fourth metacarpal with a focal small cortical invagination of the metacarpal which may be post traumatic in etiology from previous impaction. No discrete fracture or dislocation is appreciated at the fourth digit IP joints pr MCP joint. The flexor and extensor mechanisms and tendons appear intact. No significant sized joint effusions. No significant degenerative or arthritic bony changes are appreciated. Visualized musculature has normal signal. Subcutaneous tissues are intact."
hello all, 2 months ago i wrecked my dirt bike, my thumb bent back and touched my wrist. my hand, thumb, and pointer finger swelled up and hurt bad. after a few days i noticed a bruise running from my elbow all the way to my hand. now the pain is mostly gone as well as the bruising , but i have a small hard knot right where my pointer finger and thumb come together. is this a torn tendon or should i get this looked at like i should have in the first place..
Also interested in hearing about surgery for trigger finger….both positive and negative.
View 1 RepliesI know there are numerous symptoms to Fibromyalgia which could be associated with other autoimmune disorders which leads to my problem. I went to the doctor last monday with a swollen ring finger at the joint. I also told him that I was exhausted a lot and getting dizzy spells daily. He tested me for lupus and RA, both coming back normal. He also had a x-ray taken of my finger which showed no fracture or injury. My finger is still swollen after 5 days of naproxen twice a day, still exhausted and still having dizzy spells daily. On top of that, my legs are now aching especially when I climb the stairs which never used to happen. The pain is bad enough that I have to stop for a bit until the pain subsides a little. I'm also starting to have hip pains as well as stiffness in many areas of my body. So, with that said, I was wondering if swelling is a common symptom of fibromyalgia and if so, any suggestions other than ice, heat and naproxen and ibuprofen??? I can't get my wedding ring off and I really don't want to cut it off (the ring, not my finger, hahaha).
View 2 RepliesI was just curious if anyone has had persistent ring finger numbness? I've had ct symptoms 6+ years that come and go, however, now I have this strange numbness that won't go away... primarily in my fingertip (ring finger).
View 4 RepliesI'm 25, and have recently developed symptoms (last 2-3 months). I had some mild sore wrists before but over the last few month it progressed to numbness in both hands. I did some physiotherapy and stretching and it did actually improve a bit but then my left ring finger began to develop pain and severe numbness, enough to stop me from typing with my left hand. I ice it several times a day which is keeping it at bay but doesn't do anything for the numbness.
Any comments or advice? I'm on a 1 month wait for an EMG specialist. The only thing that makes the numbness better is bending my wrist into a flexed position and holding it there for a few seconds.
I recently noticed a hard knot between my breasts at the bottom of my sternum. I also have pain in my left upper back and sometimes down into my lower left abdomen. It is sometimes tender to the touch, but not always. I don't lose sleep over it, food doesn't bother it, just the aches and pains in my upper left back and shoulder, sometimes on my left side. It doesn't hurt constantly and Ibuprofen helps. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to costochondritis or ???.

I have hard, dark skin on my lower back, I think it was due to my bed being broke some long time ago when there was a spring sticking out, it might have been scraping my back, but now it's like over a year that my bed is alright, nothing's really wrong with it, and the skin on the lower back is still dark, I tried TONS of different methods to get rid of it, but couldn't. I tried skin softener kind of cream or something, or wax, I can't remember, but it had something to do with sunflowers or sunflower seeds, it helped me at first, I used to put it on my lower back after every time I went for a shower, but then the dark skin started coming back, and pretty recently (about a month ago) I tried a special tea some people recommend, it helped as well, the dark skin was gone for maybe around a few weeks, and I used to pour the tea over my lower back after having a shower, and I didn't dry my lower back after shower so that my skin could absorb it, and well, the dark skin started coming back again, please someone help me! I've tried a million things! I also tried using sponges and what not to scrub the skin off, which didn't even do anything.
View 1 RepliesI have washed my hands just to see if it was dirt or something when I did yard work last night. The top of my finger is orange/bronze looking and I've researched it and it could be gangrene but I seriously doubt it, but never know. I came here to ask others what it could be.
I realized it about 2 1/2 hours ago at school during breakfast. I thought it was strange cause I have not ever seen it before. It doesn't hurt that I know of yet. Its just like below my nail not like underneath it but below it.
That's all I can really say about it right now. If anything comes up or affects any other places on me will let ya know
I have been having an issue with peeling skin on my hands, more so on my finger tips. I have seen my family doctor many times regarding the issue and have tried steroids cream, antifungal cream, standard moisturizers have been used plenty. I have been having this issue for about 2 years, no time of year is worst than others, the only thing that makes it worst is the shower.
There is no pain when the skin peels, It seems like little white blisters that are not filled with anything rise to the surface and the skin tears away. The peeling starts sometimes in the corner by my nails on each side and spreads to the center.
Sometimes it starts right in the middle by the nail and spreads. When this all started it was only on my small finger and then all my finger and now my whole hand. It comes and goes in cycles, I did visit a dermatologist and was told that there was nothing she could do as it was an auto-immune problem.
for about 2 weeks now my palms have been itchy(to the point of tears) and dry, my finger tips bubble up and peel(i'm down to a few layers of skin left on some)the remaining skin on my finger tips is turning yellow and is very hard.the bubbles are now spreading to my palms.i need to stop this before i lose usage of my hands!
View 3 RepliesI just had a baby by cesarean. A few days after leaving the hospital i found a 2-3cm hard lump under the skin to me it feels like a bone. the lump is located right in between the hip/leg and vagina on the right side. it is not in the vagina or visible. i went to my doctor and the told me it is not a cyst and to just watch it. a few days later i feel more lumps right next under the skin to it but smaller. i does hurt when touched and sometimes when sitting.
View 1 RepliesI have noticed a hard lump underneath the skin near the base of my penis but feels to be against my pelvic bone, it's not visible and I can move it around, it doesn't hurt or anything but is just there and has been for a few months.
