When they say that your face and nose can enlarge because of nasal polyps, what does this mean? Face enlarge as in widen? Thank you. This is bothering me because I am already highly disappointed in my appearance.
View 1 RepliesI have just been diagnosed has having Nasal polyps. My symptoms have been so bad that I haven't worked in 14 years. I have the usual symptoms of breathing difficulty, stuffy nose, facial pain & a post nasal drip. I also have other symptoms like dizziness/lightheadedness, blurry vision, pressure in my head. I feel like I am walking on a bouncy castle 24/7. i wanted to know if anyone else who has nasal polyps, has ever experienced any dizziness or eye sight problems. I have had my eyesight checked recently and its near perfect yet I cannot see properly.

The side effect has been that my sense of smell is non existent .. I just put up with the alternate runny / blocked nose etc etc
The one development of late has been strange, when in the shower I often clear my nose rather robustly as its the best way to blow in an unrestrained manner .. I have now noticed that I suddenly get a very sweet flowery taste / smell when i do this .. My daughter jokes that its brain fluid .. hopefully not.
Anyone with any ideas as to what it might be?
I get a nose polyp more on one side of nose than the other, also the ear on that side also has a lot more problems with blockages and pain and whatever. Researching online I saw some posts saying that it is unusual for it to be more one side than the other and can be cancer! Now am worried sick. Please tell me your thoughts but please don't say stuff like go to the doctor.
View 5 RepliesThe nasal polyps were very unpleasant, causing continual blocked nose together with the sensation of the polyp moving as I breathed. I had them removed by surgery and it was completely pain free throughout, although the anaesthetic injection was a bit sharp. I had no postoperative pain at all and only a trace of bleeding.

Is that normal or is it something else? I already had two ents put a scope inside my nose and both said it was normal. Were they wrong or am I wrong?

i've had them since november last year, i have a bad mucus in the back of my throat, all the time, and no sense of smell, no taste of food .my boyfriend says i snore and i think this is overriding my personal life and would like to hear from anyone.
I have nasal polyps, but now my the muscles in my neck ache. I don't have a sore throat, except when I go to swallow. I get a very hoarse throat, daily. What could this be?
View 1 RepliesI have nasal polyps and what a life-ruining condition. I can't breathe. I can't sleep. I have trouble eating & breathing, drinking & breathing. Sometimes it's difficult to speak clearly. Kissing & humming are difficult. I go through oodles of kleenex. I take antihistamines, use Nasonex spray, take Melrose oil internally, enjoy "Halls" lozenges. I've tried Prednisone, but the side effects are too dangerous for me. I wish I could get some relief. AND it is different every day. Some days my nose is totally plugged and thumping and the next day my nose is dripping, running and I can't stop blowing. It's never normal. Again, I wish I could get rest & relief.

View 1 RepliesI recently have had sinus surgery and suffer from severe Asthma, now that I have been getting Xolair injections my Asthma is almost non existent. My doctors say I should use a nasal wash at least once a day if not twice! The problem is when I use the nasal wash it plugs my head up and my nose runs constantly! Am I doing this wrong?
View 6 RepliesI'm a 32 year old woman I've been diagnosed with chronic migraine I've suffered from this horrible illness since I was 18 from 18 till 28 my headaches were throbbing one Sided and intense the last few years my headaches have changed to a chronic daily headache which is mild to moderate sometimes intense pain I do take painkillers daily which help cut the daily pain from what would be a 8 down to a 2 also my pain isn't always throbbing it's one Sided but not throbbing sometimes it can throb if I move my head I've told the neurologist that it's not throbbing yet he diagnosed it as transformed migraine . Since my headaches have changed I've gotten different symptoms such as a tingling sensation on my face under my eye near my nose on my cheeks etc , sometimes I'll get a dragging sensation on one side of my face like my eye is getting pulled Down , and the most frightening symptom I sometimes feel completely detached from my self or my surroundings it's very scary also I get Alice in wonderland syndrome when I get all these symptoms I don't always get a headache or if I do it will be very mild I'm waiting to see a neurologist again plus I'm booked in for a mri on my brain I'm curious if anyone gets any of these bizarre symptoms I'm very nervous I should mention I've had these odd symptoms for about four years but the detached feeling has gotten more frequently.
View 4 RepliesI have suffered with Nasal obstruction(breathing difficulties)and Nasal Drip(continuous mucus draining down the back of throat)for over 8years and have been prescribed all the usual sprays,anxiety pills,breathing strips, etc.
My latest consultant advises I need an operation to treat a deviated septum(restricted airway on one side of nose).
I was also told by one consultant that I had collapsed airways due to my age(70) and nothing could be done.
Has anyone had this operation,and if so, did you have relief from nasal drip and improved breathing through the airways.
My quality of life is poor,with low energy during the day and nighttime breathing problems that cause me to be awake most of the time.
I am looking to make contact with someone that has had surgery or experiencing the same symptoms as mine.
Two weeks ago, I woke up with pain in my left nostril. I thought it was a pimple and would go away, but the pain is shooting into my left eye and temple area off and on. Is this nasal dryness I am experiencing or could it be something more serious? It is strange that I suddenly felt it overnight. I have history of polyp in this area but wasn't big enough to cause a concern 2 years ago. I am trying to keep area moist with argan and almond sweet/vitamin e oil but hear that I shouldn't keep doing that, lipoid pneumonia may result in repeat use. Saline spray makes it worse. I will go in eventually to check it out, but this ENT Dr. I have usually blows me off. He is not the compassionate type and to see another specialist is an hour away.

View 3 RepliesI'm 40, and was born with ACF. As I age? My face twists more. My neck muscles are obviously larger on my right side, and now my neck aches from constant strain. My parents always said it was no big deal. Any help? I don't know where to go, I'm not sure my Dr. has ever heard of it.
View 1 RepliesJust got home a little while ago after a 10-hour day at the hospital. For anyone new to my situation, I was supposed to have an ovary removed that appeared to contain some type of mass, in addition to having a couple of small uterine polyps removed. My doctor ordered lab work on hormone levels and cancer markers that was all normal. She said that the mass was contained within the ovary and appeared to be solid. So this is everything we knew going into surgery.
Well, I had the surgery today, and guess what... there was nothing in the ovary! I was awake in the recovery room, and extremely dizzy, when my doctor came in with a big smile to tell me. She explained that I have a benign "floating" fibroid outside of my uterus that has been positioned in such a way that it has been pressing on the ovary. The ovary itself was a yellowish color, not the whitish color that it should be, but she said it was not the color that it would be if cancer was present. However, to be sure, she removed it and a frozen section was done on it that confirmed no cancer.
She also removed the two uterine polyps, in addition to a cervical polyp that also turned up, and these are all expected to be benign. The other ovary has a functional cyst present that she said will be gone in a few weeks. She also did a D&C as expected. The pathology results will be back on Monday or Tuesday.
I am still in total shock about the ovary. Since I was so dizzy when she told me, I couldn't process what the doctor told me at all. After they put me back in my day surgery room with my mom (I was allowed one person with me there), she explained it all to me. They gave me a pain pill and I slept for about 2 hours and then a nurse with really cold hands came in to wake me up. I had some juice and crackers, and a couple of cups of water, and after a while they made sure that I could urinate and sent me home. I'm staying with my family while I recover and they are a huge help.
So that is everything for now! I learned a lot today. It has been crazy and the outpatient day surgery unit was very noisy, so I am grateful to be home. I will have a follow-up appointment with the doctor on May 4, assuming that no emergencies or complications arise.
I have recently become anaemic, I suffer from uterine polyps that have been 'quiet' for about 6 years ever since menopause, however about a week ago I started bleeding heavily, the past couple of days I am so tired, wobbly on my feet and look as white as a sheet, also heartrate is up a bit, anyone out there who has experienced the same or similar? and what happened regarding treatment were you put on iron tablets etc? I know I have to see the doc and will be ringing her tomorrow but am sitting in bed fretting about it.
View 6 RepliesI am very sad because my nose was fractured 2week ego and ENT doctor use one metal suction to stop my nose bleeding and I am not sure that suction was clean or noi f suction wasn't clean ,for example with blood of another person ...(but i am sure that 5-7 minute before me no one was in the room )
is this risk of hiv?
