Easy Bruising - Always Quite Hard Lumps
Feb 2, 2015
I have a problem with easy bruising. I am 40 years old, reasonably fit and have no major health issues. For the past year I have noticed that I have been bruising very easily, and in particular the bruises are always quite hard lumps. I even had some pretty big haematomas on my legs after a few knocks playing football.
Anyway I have been to my docs, and had all the basic blood tests and everything came back normal. Then I was referred to a Haematologist for another 2 sets of tests, all of which again were normal - some of the common bruising things tested for were - Von Willebrand's, platelet functions, factor 13, all of which were fine. I think I have pretty much had all the tests that can be had for blood disorders.
So I don't really know what to do now - the specialist couldn't come up with anything really. The bruises are more annoying than dangerous, but I'd like to try and get to the bottom of the issue. I don't have any other problems with bleeding.
One thing that happened that may be connected is that just before I noticed the increase in bruising, I had a second infection of Strep throat (bacterial tonsillitis). I had to go through 3 different types of antibiotics as I was mildly allergic to 2 of them - one gave me a mild rash, the other gave me a sore back (i though it was my kidneys but the doctor checked and said it wasn't). So it may be just a coincidence by it seem to me that this has messed with my immune system and caused the bruising problems.
Currently I am taking a course of probiotics to see if that can re-dress the balance, but it does not seem to be making a difference.
I have a healthy diet, play tennis twice a week and football once a week.

I just had a baby by cesarean. A few days after leaving the hospital i found a 2-3cm hard lump under the skin to me it feels like a bone. the lump is located right in between the hip/leg and vagina on the right side. it is not in the vagina or visible. i went to my doctor and the told me it is not a cyst and to just watch it. a few days later i feel more lumps right next under the skin to it but smaller. i does hurt when touched and sometimes when sitting.

Does anyone else have this? If so have you been to the doctor with it?
I have booked an appointment today and will be going to get it checked in the next few hours just needed to see if anyone else has the same?

Now, you've probably clicked on this link and have some serious doubts about what I'm going to say.
Quitting smoking is the easiest thing you can do and why? Because you don't want to do it in the first place.
Example 1: Let's say I invite you to your favorite food, would you say yes?
Of course you would, it's something you enjoy and it's free.
Example 2: What if I invite you to eat dog poo. Would you try it? Hey, it's free, right! But, you would probably say no.
So what do those 2 examples have in common? The #One you want to do and the other one, not so much.
Well, let's pretend I chase around the house, work and every area of your life, telling you to eat dog poo. Would you just give up and try it? Like really?
Because that's what addiction does it pokes you and chases you until you agree to do it.
I could write a whole essay on this, but I'll post some main ideas first and then will specify on some things.
Addiction is not a habit. Look it up in the dictionary. Not the same thing at all and the words are very different, even though they sound similar.
Psychiatrists classify addictions as a mental disorder.
So first admit and you've probably noticed that by being a smoker, you are different than other people. You think differently and you're aware that your life is dominated by cigarettes. When to buy, smoke etc.
If you smoke a pack a day, that's like 1 cigarette every 45 minutes, without counting 8 hrs of sleep. That is like brushing your teeth the same number of times a day. Doesn't sound like normal behavior right?
So, let's summarize this, smoking is an addiction that pokes you several times a day. And here comes the catch, why do you have to do it, just as the example with dog poo.
Because you think you are getting something out of it. Not the bad consequences, but you think it somehow lets you decrease your stress or keep emotions in control... etc..
There are two types of addictions, physical and mental. The mental part of the addiction is usually what makes it seem impossible to quit.
But there's an easy way.
Add your thoughts in some things I've said or ask more questions and I'll write some other posts that go deeper on why smoking becomes a problem and it's our mentality that makes us fail.

Have any experience of a Breath Easy group. I believe they are run by The British Lung Foundation. There does appear to be a local group for us. My husband who has just been diagnosed with COPD is not keen on this sort of thing but I thought I might give it a go. Does anyone know what goes on at these groups.

I'm a 5'5 22 year old female who started at 195 and I'm now at 145 in weight in about one month. I tried it when I was very young, started again when things were crazy difficult, but months or years in between has never been an issue. This past two weeks I was using around 1 gram a day. Lost that much weight in two weeks. I'm always almost fainting from never eating. Had to teach myself hydration. And today, it felt as if I've been doing it forever. I snort it, my nose hurts so bad all the time. I can visibly see my eyes getting droopy, they are usually really big wide eyes. My life is crap right now but without it it becomes so much worse. All I think about all day is using then at night I use and think about how to get more and the thing is my father supplies it to me, free. Top of the line from the man who cooked it up. So with that information, I used about 1/2 today within an hour. I want to stop. I feel sick I'm exhausted laying in bed my nose is running worried I'll make it bleed. I have to take a drug test soon and my question is, what are easy steps to move on with a short lived addiction and also detox and clean myself out as quickly as possible. I want to be DONE.

I am now 30 years old. I did not have serious acne problem on my face until the age of 27. Since the age of 27, my face started to have acne as shown in the images as attached. They usually start with little lumps under the skin. If I apply pressure to it, luckily there will be some grease in white color coming out from the pore, but more often the grease fails to come out, and the area becomes darker and darker, water starts to diffuse out of the area. Then the area starts to become painful ....

I'm going 49 yrs old thru perimenopause and lately I've been having breast pain it gives me pain in my arms as well as my chest. I check my breast regularly and can't feel any lumps or any other changes in my breasts, the pain is mostly in the left one. I also get painful joints since starting perimenopause. I went to see my family doctor and he checked my breast and tells me there's nothing to worry about. I ask him if I needed a mammogram he said no...I don't know if I should get a second opinion? No one in my family has ever had breast cancer.

I was getting dressed this morning I noticed a spot on my breast. It's yellowish and I scratched at it which made it all red. It is raised and fairly small. I have had my breasts checked on January but this spot is new. It's nothing I've seen before. Attached photo. I realize it might be from my bra but it's just strange. It is sore.

Does anyone else experience prominent lumps? By lumps I mean feel like bone. Last year I had a lump on my back where the ribs meet my spine I had acupuncture which actually reduced its size. But now I have two on my front on my ribs close to my sternum. The areas are quite painful to touch.

Got a couple of small lumps on my ball bag, little smaller than a pea, Don't hurt to squeeze them unless they are inflamed ( couple times a year), thinking they might be a sebaceous -cysts of the scrotum-, Hard when squeezed, small amounts of fluid comes out of them when i squeeze, I had one a couple years back but it eventually got smaller and smaller as is now gone, Not itchy, Not red or irritated, just sits there being all like " yo whats up im gonna look all ugly as fuck and chill here for a bit". should i just man up and go to the doctors about it ? no camera for today but tomorrow or the next i'll chuck a couple of picks up of them. they're white-ish.
also have smaller ones about the size of a pen dot which release cream coloured puss ish stuff when squeezed then they're gone.

After meeting someone on a dating site (getting along very well) a month later I started to itch and little lumps with a white centre started to appear. I thought I had been bitten by mosquitoes and treated them as such. Another few weeks past and they were getting worse not better. That's when I realised what they were. I told the person who I had met and they would do nothing about it so I discontinued the relationship. However I was left with this mess. So far i have used 20 tubes of lyclear and a bottle of tea tree oil. All to no avail. I am at my wits end now especially after reading a lot of the stories. This is horrific. I desperately need help in getting rid of this curse.

I was hoping for some feedback on panic attacks. I have suffered with anxiety for about 4 years now, I used to get little panic attacks whereby I would get lumps in my throat and struggle to breath properly, have head rushes etc. Last night though, I woke up during the night suddenly, feeling very sick. Then my heart started beating so hard and fast that I thought it was going to jump out my chest. My mouth went so dry that I struggled to swallow properly. I was also overcome by a feeling of impending doom and that I was going to die there and then. I was terrified and scared that I was having a heart attack. I also got diarrhoea (apologies for too much info) and the top half of my body was shaking. It took me around 1 hour to calm myself down again, enough to go back to sleep and I was very close to calling an ambulance. Does anyone know if these symptoms are typical of a panic attack?
