Can acupuncture affect fertility? Have anyone had such experience? They all promise good results, but I am skeptical about it. As I've been told this means that the different combinations of acupuncture points play a role in the release of the hormones responsible for regulating our cycle.

I know it is pretty dangerous medication with many side affects but I would like to know if it may affect my fertility.

View 1 RepliesI am 31 years old and my husband is 46. We have been ttc for 2 years and then 8 months ago I had an ectopic pregnancy. They managed to save my tube. I never had any issues with ovarian cysts but after my ectopic I started getting a vaginal pain. It felt like a deep pain and sometimes it burned when we were intimate. Initially I thought it could be a yeast infection. I have never had a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis but all the symptoms of a YI was a bit like the pain I was experiencing. I spent a lot of money on otc stuff but they seemed to aggravate the pain. The pain was affecting me daily and at night I could barely sleep. The only thing that would help a bit was when I lay in a hot bath. I started getting spotting mid cycle which was something I have never had. I started seeing a new doctor which is a specialist gynaecologist. On the ultrasound she picked up a 35mm cyst on the opposite ovary as the one where the ectopic was. It looked like a functional cyst but she said she would like to remove it surgically as she could then check my tubes to make sure they were open so we can try and prevent a repeat ectopic. So I had the cyst removed via laparoscopy and it also showed my tubes were open. After surgery the pathology reports showed that they cyst was actually a complex cyst. My doctor was surprised and said it showed all the features of a functional cyst. She said it was a mucinous cystadenoma. On my follow up appointment she found that there was still some of the cyst remaining of 10mm. She said that these cysts has the potential to turn to ovarian cancer but she didn't want to rush back to surgery because she was scared of damaging the ovarian tissue with more surgery. I was then monitored with CA 125 blood testing. Right after surgery the blood test was 40 then it gradually came down to 24 and lastly 14. I believe its supposed to be below 30. The cyst was benign though but could turn malignant. Yesterday I went back for a checkup and the cyst was now at 20mm. My doctor wants to go back into surgery because she said the ovary is playing up and the cyst will just grow again to the size it was. Im still having some pain but its basically 100% better than it was before the 1st surgery. My doctor was against removing the ovary but now she asked me if she could remove the ovary if she goes in and the ovary is damaged. She will however try her best to save it so that my fertility doesn't take a knock....
Does this sound about right in the situation? How will it affect me having one ovary only? Can this type of cyst affect your fertility and does it affect your hormones as I'm having very sore boobs for a few weeks now?
Anyone have luck with acupuncture for vestibular neuritis ?
View 1 RepliesI have been treating my frozen shoulder with traditional physical therapy. About three weeks ago I started acupuncture. After the first session my calves started to ache. They do not put needles in the back of my legs. I was doing exercise in the doorway that would put stress on my calves for 2 months prior to acupuncture. At that time my calves did not hurt. I find it strange that the calves began aching with acupuncture.

Acupuncture will help by lessening withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms are (not limited to): stress, anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, and emotional distress.
View 2 RepliesI got bells palsy worse condition on my face. I was under physiotherapy treatment for 10-15 days.But still i haven't recovered completely from it i can say only 60% has recovered till the date i have same issue .
1. When i smile my eyes sinks it looks like its almost closed but its not.
2. when i speak lower lid of the eye part goes up and down.
3. My left eye looks little smaller than the other.
4. If i try to pucker my lips the affected part(leftist part of the lips will always move to the righter part) this is not normal
I am planning to go for acupuncture treatment i am confused.
Had injection, acupuncture and this week had second physio session which yesterday and today I am in agony with it.
It keeps me awake at night and I'm in a desk job using the mouse on pc during the day.
Its now going into the neck and even though im on naproxen too twice a day and I have rolled my head from side to side and done gentle exercise, it's the worst its been today and I feel so sad from it and in tears most of the day just for some relief. Unfortunately no partner to rub it better.
have had frozen right shoulder since dec. this really is a debilitating condition and it is good to find somewhere to vent frustrations and get advice. had cortisone inj in feb, this has helped a little bit, but still in pain. i started acupuncture 6 weeks ago and am finding that it keeps the pain at a manageable level. am aware now that this is not going to be a short road to recovery, but would love to put on my bra the normal way, get undressed myself, brush and style hair at back of head and take off a jacket without first going through the rigmarole of shaking the left arm til jacket fall off. sorry lowercase but can't hold down shift.

View 12 RepliesI was struggling with Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction but feeling it was not worth the risk of pancreatitis to go ahead with the endoscopic sphincterotomy and would like to share my success using self-administered acupuncture.
My SOD had two pain styles. My daily pain is very successfully managed (99% pain free days) using 30 mg amitriptyline each night and 10mg Buscopan 3xdaily. Before drugs my daily pain was so bad that I was hardly eating - not a long term strategy.
I also get (used to get) episodic severe night time pain attacks. The upper gastric / chest area pain is extreme (as you'll know if you have SOD) and I used to take 20mg oxycodone. Each morning after an attack I woke with migraine, vomiting and general weakness, needed a day in bed. These night time attacks became worse and more frequent until I started acupuncture.
A GP friend taught me to do acupuncture to myself, the most useful points are GB34 and LR3. I do electroacupuncture weekly as a preventative measure, since March 2012. My night time attacks are now infrequent, very mild indeed, and I can stop them by using manual needling in GB34 only. I don't even have to get out of bed, go straight back to sleep and can get up and go to work as usual in the morning.
This has transformed my experience of this horrible condition.

I was diagnosed having Parkinson's Disease in 2002, but symptoms began in 2000. I worked as a Senior Environmental Health Technician at the time, when I was diagnosed, I was so ashamed of myself, apart from my husband and children I did not tell anyone, I carried on working as normal but didn't tell my employers, in 2004 my condition became worse, one morning I woke up and could not walk at all. after being off sick I was referred to occupational health, who recommended early retirement. so I lost my job for sometime I was sad not depressed,, my mobility is impaired quite badly and I lose 50% of the day due to off periods, i.e. when I am unable to walk or function normally.
so I took up hobbies such as painting, embroidery, mosaics, crosswords etc to keep me occupied during my off periods.
My conditions is steadily worsening, I try to find out new treatments or complementary therapy,
I have not given up yet, I had a go at acupuncture, massage, physio and hydrotherapy, chinese massage, chiropractic, osteopathy, homeopathy, acupressure
I attended a pain management course, and recently has a thai yoga massage, the future looks grim and it worries me but I shall fight this disease till end
Hi All, I've been diagnosed on April 20th. It was hell for 3 weeks... then I started Vestibular Therapy and acupuncture. I have also increased my Vitamins and started talking to someone about the anxiety related to the ongoing symptoms that is caused from the Vestibular weakness... we'll I have improved! It's a very slow road but if you told me a month ago today that I would go out for a 2 mile walk I would have thought you were crazy. Well I did, today and it felt great. Yes the last half mile I felt off but after coming home to relax it passed. I've be decided that the dizzy and the anxiety will not control me any longer. I'm taking control of my life. I guess this post is for all who are giving up hope like I felt not too long ago. I still have a ways to go..I haven't seen my friends yet and haven't gone back to work yet but that will come in a few weeks. A Lot of it is mind over matter. And when I feel off and dizzy I talk to it...and do meditation. MEDITATION does work! !! So basically just do whatever you can to get by... eat better and drink water. I know VN is hell and the Vestibular weakness that comes with it. JUST DON'T GIVE UP!

Hi I am a 32 year old third time sufferer of bells palsy. I always seem to get it at this time of year - May/June and am thus starting to wonder if it is related to my intense hay fever. While I have used the standard steroid/acyclovir combo each time I have also found acupuncture to be helpful and I am undergoing treatment twice weekly at the moment as I am in the acute stages of the bells. I also take Methylcobalamin B12 as a supplement to protect nerve tissue. Dont let Bells take over your life! If you can manage the pain and breathe through the experience you will come out stronger the other side.

I'm 27yo now and for over 2 years I've been having heel pain. It started after running a couple of miles with a lot of uphill parts and sore achilles tendons after a couple of days. Ignorant of achilles injuries, I continued training hard until the pain was to much to bear.
What followed was months of
> manual/friction therapy
> extracorporeal shock wave therapy
> NSAIDS (until it ruined my stomach)
> physical therapy
The pain evolved from being in my achilles to more on the inside of my heel.
Since medical imagery never revealed anything, I had an EEG.
The foot specialist examining me saw a good enough reason to go ahead and open my foot up to perform a tarsal tunnel release surgery.
But after 2 weeks of a half-open cask and some additional weeks of recovery, the pain was still there.
Eventually going into taking natural anti-inflammatories (think turmeric) and just trying to go easy, the pain kind of evolved again to being more on the bottom of my foot now close to and on the heel.
Having had custom orthotics (which didn't help), acupuncture, some more physical therapy, I'm just completely lost..
This influences my life so much.. I'm in an active job, -was- an complete sports lover, loved to go walking, go out in the weekends.. It's all accompanied with a lot of pain, making me miserable and desperate.
Having had PF for going on 4 years I have been seeing an osteopath for the last 2 months This has helped the PF to a degree however a year ago I felt there was more going on as the joints in my feet were extremely painful and I had to have my medication put up. 600 mg pregabalin as well as tramadol on bad days. I was recently referred to orthopaedic biomechanics who have now diagnosed me with Tarsal Tunnel syndrome and currently awaiting further appointments with biomechanics and physio for acupuncture and laser therapy. Has anyone else been diagnosed with same and what was the outcome?? I am desperate to be pain free and be able to have a life again. I have not worked in nearly a year and getting so frustrated not being able to get about much or get back to work.
View 1 RepliesI am recovering from foot surgery and am experiencing pain on bottom of foot/heel that is similar to plantar fasciitis. I have other pains related to the surgery that are improving, but this one is persistent. My PT suggested dry needling in trigger points, which is similar to acupuncture. I also have PTTD developing in my other foot, and she suggested it may also help with that.
View 1 RepliesI was wondering what my consultants (two have said it) mean by 'she has a slightly odd affect'? Do they mean I have something wrong with my head? Why have they said such a strange thing when it was nothing to do with my condition - ent and orthopaedics? Did they maybe mean my physical condition puzzles them slightly and they have not had anyone like me with this hip, etc problem presenting like I am with symptoms?
Have any of you experienced people had this too and did the consultants, etc, give you an explanation as mine did not and just wrote behind my back (so much for patient-centred care!) and never offered an explanation themselves.
