Can Lyme And Sciatica Be Related?
Apr 27, 2015
About 13 years ago I had a tick bite, then bulls eye etc, etc. Diagnoses was not good as I was living in N. Ireland where the disease was unknown at the time. For 9 months or so I was treated with antibiotic pills on and off until the symptoms went away. Over the last years I have been having more and more joint, muscle pains. Mostly in my legs, knees and hands and lower arms (maybe age: 1959). I also have back pains but they seem unrelated. Four months ago I got a pain in my back again but this time it went into my legs, mostly the right one. The doctor thinks it is sciatica and put me on medication and physiotherapy It it all helps a bit but the pain comes and goes and travels. I get a lot of tingling in my legs, the surface of my shin is completely numb and occasionally I get stabs of pain in the surface of my shin.
My questions are can Lyme and Sciatica be related and should I be tested for Lyme again.

I read somewhere if on abx for about 3 weeks and then take another Western Blot test that is would show up positive if you have Lyme. Can anyone confirm this?

I found a tick on my leg and it was not fully engorged and was able to fully remove The body with tweezers(stored tick in refrigerator with damp towel) and dumped rubbing alcohol on the bite site. Later that day there was a very small dark bruise like spot where the bite was, which I assumed was normal. next day early afternoon I realized it was red around the bite(small bruise spot still there) with a red ring on the outside, a little more red on the outside ring part but this was smaller than an American dime coin which is pretty small. I guess I should mention first, on the day of the tick removal I called my general practice doc over the phone and got prescribed doxycycline hyclate 100mg 2x a day for 14 days and started taking it the next day when I saw this redness. i have a pic if I can share?another thing to note is 1-2 days later the outer ring faded and is gone and now shows new very little amount of light bruising on the outer part.I had scheduled an appointment with my doc and showed pics showing this development and she told me she thought it was normal and not the notorious "bullseye" and said it was most likely irritation from dumping alcohol on the bite and was a normal reaction to bite. I am skeptical can the lyme rash be that small? she insisted it would be bigger I wish I could share pic are my chances good with this course of antibiotics I've read there are higher and/or longer doses people get.

I had an upper respiratory issue a few weeks back and am pretty much over it, but a week after the worst of it I started running a low grade fever almost every evening. My face and neck feels really hot like the heat is just radiating off it and I want to fan myself. I otherwise don't feel bad, not like I usually do when I have a low grade fever when sick, I just feel hot. My normal temps runs around 97.5 and I know that temps are lower in the mornings and can go up in the afternoons but I have never had it like this. It has been about 98.6, 98.8 and today it has been 99.3. But like I said, it isn't like a sick fever, and it is mostly my face and neck area that feels so hot. It starts every afternoon around 3pm.
Does anyone else experience anything like this? Could it be related to perimenopause? My cycle is really messed up right now.

I've had anxiety for maybe 8 years now and Health Anxiety since last year (probably longer but that's when I was diagnosed). I don't tend to get severe panic attacks anymore in the sense where I can't breathe and in a full state of panic etc, but I do seem to be in a constant anxiety attack. I keep getting a lot of dizziness, sometimes just generally lightheaded, but I also get random bouts of feeling like the floor or chair has been taken from beneath me, almost like I'm falling, but only for a second. I then go into a bit of a panic. Does anyone else get these sensations?

I rode in a HOT car on Thursday to pick up my husband's CT scan results and then read them on the way home. He has 8 areas of concern. By time my son and I got home, I had hives.
They come up, itch like CRAZY and go away then come up another area. Most are on my face with two that come and go on my side, one on my back and 2 on my shoulder.
I went to the doctor on Saturday morning when I woke up with about 6 on my face. By time I was taken back (20 mins?) all but one had gone down. He's the guy who treats me for anxiety and felt sure it was stress related since I've not eaten anything strange or new and since I broke out while reading this upsetting news. I had 2 or 3 more last night and a few start to appear on my jawline but I quickly used some Gold Bond Powder and they calmed down.
I was doing better today but took a long nap and made the mistake of covering up with a very warm housecoat while I napped. I woke with a VERY itchy hive in front of my ear (that one has bothered me at least once every day), one on my shoulder that went down very quickly, two on my side and two just starting to appear on my jawline. They were not itching so I grabbed the powder and only the one in front of my ear is really bothering me.
I can't afford to go back to the clinic and doctor had told me to use steroid cream and continue the Klonopin which helps me so much.
Has anyone ever had stress related hives and what did you do for them? The itch is pretty awful.

My co-worker takes fertility hormones. When she first started one hormone I noticed a change in my cycle. she recently started a new hormone (a couple months ago) and I've been having chronic mild yeast infections. Could there be a correlation? Could my body be affected by the hormones my co-worker is taking?

I am 19 and I have an anxiety disorder and I've been super stressed out from work related stuff, and personal things as well. I was having a conversation with my mother, then stopped and looked at my phone. Immediately afterwards I had forgotten what we had JUST talked about and couldn't think of it and got REALLY scared. I thought I was losing my mind and I still feel like I'm gonna lose my mind and I'm having an anxiety attack because of it. What could it have been? Is that normal? Should I be freaking out?

I had Perthes disease diagnosed aged 8, it was pretty bad and to cut a long story short I had a total hip replacement aged 19 (ten years ago!).
Since then things on the hip front have been good
I fell pregnant with my first child when I was 25, and sadly my pregnancy was badly affected by pre-eclampsia, resulting in my son being born at 30 weeks (he's fine now).
I've been doing some research about both Perthes and Pre-eclampsia, separately, and come across some articles that suggest both could be caused by blood clotting probs (thrombophilia/factor V Leiden etc.).
I just wondered if any ladies who suffered with Perthes as a child had any incidence of preeclampsia during pregnancy or pregnancy-induced-hypertension?

Have any of you begun to recover or recovered significantly from CFS?
I want to get a feel for if recovery is age related (do younger folk recover more quickly?) Or if it's related to how badly you suffered from CFS in the first place.
I've that broadly, younger folk get better quicker. I've also heard that if somebody has had sudden onset, maybe caused by a virus, then they are more likely to recover in about three years.
What do you know?

I have had several MDs tell me to not eat spicy or gas producing vegetables, whoever I can eat those with no problem. What sets my IBS off is becoming physically hot, through exercise, environment, or thermally hot food. And paradoxically if I become cold and then move to warmer environment rapidly or warm to extremely environment. Emotional upset can also set it off. And It can last for hours in bathroom. The only thing that stops it for me is the Medicine Donnatal. I've tried Imodium (.it might slow me down two days after episode, maybe), also Bentyl, so what more helpful for than Imodium. Does anyone else have heat related IBS and what are your management strategies?

My period has been very wacky lately. I've had spotting on the 28th-31st of Dec, then again on the 13th-18th of this month, and then yesterday I had light spotting that was brown. Later last night it turned into a pink spot, then back to brown. Today I've been having light brown sticky/stretchy discharge. It is only while wiping and I don't need a panty liner or tampon.
I'm not sure which out of these three random times is my real period. Also, my fiance and I have had unprotected intercourse on both the 9th and 23rd.
Is this possibly effects caused by my bc? Or is it possibly implantation?
