What Symptoms Are Considered Normal With Sciatica?
Aug 22, 2015
Just to give a brief overview I've been suffering with sciatica for quite some time (approx 4 years); this was picked up by my personal trainer after a particularly nasty 'attack' I had in front of her however I have been seeing the doctor for years and referred to physios who until I have paid to see one privately have just given me the various unhelpful exercises to do. I am 26 years old. I have been trying to manage the pain by exercises from my new physio which do help, as well as using a TENS machine - which helps slightly. As well as taking ibuprofen on a regular basis. My question is what is normal when it comes to sciatica and when do people know when its worth visiting the doctor again? I have noticed for some time that my (mainly right) leg gives way quite a lot when I've been standing and walking for some time e.g. if I go out shopping. It means I have to drag it along for 5 - 10 minutes until it recovers any feeling. I have also noticed my 'attacks' becoming more and more frequent. My definition of attacks being the point where I'm laid on the floor having suffering from severe spasms. These sometime pass quickly, other times not so quickly. My fiance is adamant I need to see a doctor as it seems to be getting worse however I'm unsure whether this is wasting their time.

Before I ask my question I would like to stress that I easily get scared hearing about disease, so I am asking that please, no one begin telling of anyone having the symptoms I have and then it turns out to be xyz terrible disease that they died from, because then I will just get so extremely scared. My question is strictly regarding hyperthyroidism.
I am hoping someone can calm me I am new to the forums and new to hyperthyroidism. I have been on medication for 2,5 months and mostly feel just fine, but in the early mornings, from about 05 am, I feel symptoms, which wake me up- heart racing, feeling anxious, a little shaky, preventing me from going back to sleep. It seems to peak at about 07.30 am, and then gradually lessens until it is completely gone at about 09-10 am. But during my period and ovulation and also if I have not slept well (I suffer from insomnia) it seems to linger somewhat longer, sometimes through the afternoon or even the entire day.And this scares me, because I am medicated and my bloodworks say I'm within normal range.
One doctor said yes, I can be feeling symptoms despite medication/normal bloodworks and then another doctor said no I cannot, so now I don't know what to think :'(
The doctor who said I cannot be experiencing symptoms suggested it is mental anxiety, but that just does not match what I am experiencing, because if I get anxious about something, there is always a trigger that will get my mind going and then my body follows. But this is right opposite- it is my body that starts going and then my mind follows. It feels just like the symptoms I had before I was diagnosed and got treatment, it does not feel like getting anxious about something, it starts in my body, not my mind.

I'm planning a trip south next month by public transport and although I don't have a disabled 'sticker' or anything to say I am disabled, I'm wondering if anyone has? I have been told I'm disabled because I have an 'artificial hip' but never considered myself disabled? I walk with a stick outside more often than not, and my hip aches at times but......disabled?

I don't have mono but this was the best place I could think of to ask this question since an enlarged spleen is a common problem of mono. I've had pain in my upper left abdomen since March and finally had a CT done of the area. Lady I saw at the clinic originally thought I had mono from where my pain was and my fatigue, but test was negative. CT report I got from the hospital shows 12.9 cm spleen and I'm a 21 y/o female if that makes a difference. I'm in the process of trying to find a PCP instead of just random people at the clinic, so once I get that settled I'll make sure to ask them. Just wondering if this might possibly be the cause of the pain or if I should look elsewhere?

I am taking natazia and took the first pill of the back about 12 hours later than normal. In the packaging it says 12 hours is considered late. I had sex 2 days later when i was still spotting on my period. The next day we had sex again. How likely is it that i could be pregnant? This is just a few days ago and will use backup for a week or so after this. Should i be worried?

I admit I have had multiple Anxiety attacks, I am a cashier at Walmart, I usually get them if I had rude customer like after I had a nasty customer who came down from self-check to customer service towards me, I was in tears before that, then my manager told me to hide behind the Customer Service desk. My worst anxiety attack I had a lady who's coupons would not work, I took the coupon price off the items she could not understand that and told me to take the items off period and demanded I give the coupons back to her, I already did. My brain got foggy so I asked her if she wanted me to take the items off, she said yes so I kept doing it, suddenly I wasn't feeling to well, I went to go see my manager to ask for help when I started hyperventilating, my manager had me sit down right there at the empty register. Another cashier was able to take over and finish it for me. My manager helped me over to the bench at customer service, where I suddenly lost feeling in my hands, they ended up curling up from the pinky in. I tried prying them apart using the metal bench but that didn't even work. That scared me, the same manager asked if I was okay I told her that I couldn't feel my hands, staring down at my fists. They finally unfroze after 10 minutes. The lady was so upset with me she left all of her items.
Anyway I will get dizzy, like it ranges from feeling as though I am spinning, I have to clutch on to something to keep from falling over, to the world tipping around me with every step, to not being able to see, not sure if that's exactly dizziness, but it started with dizziness. I'll get flushed randomly. I'll have PAC's. There have been a few times I have almost fainted, one time it was from not breathing, like I noticed that I wasn't breathing, my body was just like woah what's the matter you aren't breathing, I had to have a manager finish while I sat down. I was up and doing my job before I was supposed to so I did not feel well the rest of the day. My arms will also get exhausted suddenly if I have to lift them to head level, like I can barely do a pony tail without them being exhausted, the kinda feeling you get after a hard work out.
I've had the flushing and dizziness when I was talking to my mom and hanging out with my friends. My friends all know and are really accepting if they need to stop doing whatever so I can sit down.
My doctor originally thought it was POTS if anyone knows what that is, I'm getting a tilt table test in 2 weeks, now he seems to think it's anxiety. I'm sitting down while working just in case, it does seem to help slightly. It's just annoying, this has been going on for 3 months and I'm sitting down because of the time I have almost fainted also. Anyway people will say you're lucky you get to sit down, I don't consider everything and almost fainting lucky.
I'm not sure if it is anxiety since it is just physical symptoms, I've had no mental or emotional ones. Just feels like mental ones from fear of my physical ones.
I've done a stress echo and a holter monitor and blood work done.

My son had some blood work done due to chronic diarrhea among many other things (he's on the autism spectrum, ADD, sweetest kid ever-had to throw that in) and we were trying to rule out celiac and who knows what else. Anyway his TSH and Free T4 were normal, but his Free T3 was slightly high. We rechecked it 4 weeks later and it's still just slightly high, with the other numbers being normal. His doctor thinks we shouldn't worry and should just monitor, I'm just looking for any advice if anyone has seen this because I keep reading that typically Free T3 is high when TSH is low?

For just over a year now i've had pain in my left leg. It is mostly in the side of my calf but can also be from my thigh to my foot. I also have a weird feeling like slight tingly, buzzing feeling in my left foot and have noticed a slight pain in my back(not sure if related). Im only 17 so im worried of course what this could be! I have no redness, no change in temperature in my leg that i have noticed compared to the other one.
However i have heard that you can get dvt without symptoms!

I was diagnosed with sciatica yesterday morning by my doctor, he prescribed co codamol 30/500.
After taking two, the pain did subside but I felt really dizzy and sick but was just glad that the pain had lessened.
I took another two at bedtime and am still awake at 4.50am! I can't sleep for scratching! I am so itchy. Has anybody else had this terrible itching?
I remember being allergic to morphine following my hysterectomy, I came out in hives. Is it that I can't take these type of drugs, ie codeine based medicines? Tramadol has also caused itching in the past.

I just want to get a feel of the pain differences... from, nah it's not so bad to how I am suffering .. where I cannot sit or stand, I am just laid flat, and have been for the last week. I'm on diazepam twice a day, pregabalin twice a day, Naproxen twice a day and paracetamol, And have just come off morphine.
I'll be upping my pregabalin in 3 days and the diazepam. .. I have never felt pain like it. My husband had to dress my bottom half, he has to help me in and out of the shower, and be around to make sure I don't slip..
I've been referred to the spine clinic who are ringing on 3rd Dec for a phone assessment. . They will then get me in for a scan.
I also have a bulging disc at L4... that didn't help either!

My dr. did a CT scan on my left side to see if I had sciatica as I had a lot of symptoms of it. It showed minimum damage to the nerve. I was not told what to do next? Should I get a follow up with what kind of specialist? Would a MRI show more information then the CT scan?
