What Is The Meaning Of Odd Affect?
Sep 3, 2013
I was wondering what my consultants (two have said it) mean by 'she has a slightly odd affect'? Do they mean I have something wrong with my head? Why have they said such a strange thing when it was nothing to do with my condition - ent and orthopaedics? Did they maybe mean my physical condition puzzles them slightly and they have not had anyone like me with this hip, etc problem presenting like I am with symptoms?
Have any of you experienced people had this too and did the consultants, etc, give you an explanation as mine did not and just wrote behind my back (so much for patient-centred care!) and never offered an explanation themselves.

I know that I am meant to take the pill at the same time every day. I usually take it at 6:30, but sometimes I am 15 minutes off, sometimes half an hour off. But it is always between 6 and 7. I know that typical use reduces the effectiveness of the pill to 91-92%.
What I would like to know is: is taking the pill within 15 minutes or half an hour of your usual time still perfect use?

Can acupuncture affect fertility? Have anyone had such experience? They all promise good results, but I am skeptical about it. As I've been told this means that the different combinations of acupuncture points play a role in the release of the hormones responsible for regulating our cycle.

I'm Feeling generally weak, if I push through and do things regardless, eg walking up stairs, I end up shaking and get palpitations. Depending on how much I've done that can last for days and I end up in bed. I've cut out doing so many things that basically all my heart has to do is keep me alive, I worry about if it deteriorates further, what's going to happen?
If I get a day where I feel stronger I will take full advantage and do as much as possible.
does SVT affect anyone else like this? I haven't had an actual episode for years but can feel one trying to override the meds sometimes.

I've been on 100 mg Nortriptyline for months now for my chronic migraines and one night I felt like I was suffocating so I stopped taking them cold turkey. It's been about a week since I stopped them. Is there any chance it will affect my menstrual cycle? While taking them, it was never at the same time, it was always early or late so I'm not sure what to do.

I recently decided to get a blood test done for HSV 1 and 2. No typical symptoms, but I was reading that some people never have any symptoms, so I wanted to get checked out. I have had about 10 total sexual partners, and only one that I really gave oral sex to. A few women I just kissed a bit down there, but I have always used a condom. I have noticed a slightly red fordyce on my scrotum, and some small zits around my mouth. I also take coconut oil as a general health supplement, one tablespoon a day and use it on my face before bed. I know that it can inhibit viruses including herpes, but I was wondering if it would affect a PCR or an Antibody test for the virus? I expect labs back Monday, and hopefully it comes back negative, if so I will still have to get retested in a few months since I have had recent partners.

I was diagnosed last year. I also had an early menopause as a teenager so we are looking into IVF to have a baby. I am struggling to find info on how LS affects pregnancy and birth if we are successful? Also thinking that the steroid cream can't be good for pregnancy?

I recently did routine blood work and came up equivocal for type 2 herpes, twice. The tests were two weeks apart which I know is early but I am going back for a 3 one in three weeks.
Although, I was sexually active with someone right before they got chicken pox as an adult. Could Somehow chicken pox throw off or affect the blood
Work?

I am 28 unmarried but would like children someday. I recently found out that I have an 8cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary. I have an appointment with a surgical physician in about a week and a half. They found it during an ultrasound as I have been having pain in my lower right pelvic area. The ultrasound tech told me they generally remove them with surgery but that is about all the information I received. The call after the ultrasound was just to schedule this f/u appointment with a surgical physician. Am I right to assume surgery? I would like to be a little prepared before i walk in there.
I would appreciate anyone who has had a similar situation to tell me the likelihood of surgery, how the procedure went, recovery time, etc. I understand everyone is different but I am having a hard time finding concreting information. And am working myself up worrying about it. Especially if its going to effect my opportunity to have children.

I am 31 years old and my husband is 46. We have been ttc for 2 years and then 8 months ago I had an ectopic pregnancy. They managed to save my tube. I never had any issues with ovarian cysts but after my ectopic I started getting a vaginal pain. It felt like a deep pain and sometimes it burned when we were intimate. Initially I thought it could be a yeast infection. I have never had a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis but all the symptoms of a YI was a bit like the pain I was experiencing. I spent a lot of money on otc stuff but they seemed to aggravate the pain. The pain was affecting me daily and at night I could barely sleep. The only thing that would help a bit was when I lay in a hot bath. I started getting spotting mid cycle which was something I have never had. I started seeing a new doctor which is a specialist gynaecologist. On the ultrasound she picked up a 35mm cyst on the opposite ovary as the one where the ectopic was. It looked like a functional cyst but she said she would like to remove it surgically as she could then check my tubes to make sure they were open so we can try and prevent a repeat ectopic. So I had the cyst removed via laparoscopy and it also showed my tubes were open. After surgery the pathology reports showed that they cyst was actually a complex cyst. My doctor was surprised and said it showed all the features of a functional cyst. She said it was a mucinous cystadenoma. On my follow up appointment she found that there was still some of the cyst remaining of 10mm. She said that these cysts has the potential to turn to ovarian cancer but she didn't want to rush back to surgery because she was scared of damaging the ovarian tissue with more surgery. I was then monitored with CA 125 blood testing. Right after surgery the blood test was 40 then it gradually came down to 24 and lastly 14. I believe its supposed to be below 30. The cyst was benign though but could turn malignant. Yesterday I went back for a checkup and the cyst was now at 20mm. My doctor wants to go back into surgery because she said the ovary is playing up and the cyst will just grow again to the size it was. Im still having some pain but its basically 100% better than it was before the 1st surgery. My doctor was against removing the ovary but now she asked me if she could remove the ovary if she goes in and the ovary is damaged. She will however try her best to save it so that my fertility doesn't take a knock....
Does this sound about right in the situation? How will it affect me having one ovary only? Can this type of cyst affect your fertility and does it affect your hormones as I'm having very sore boobs for a few weeks now?
