I've recently discovered that i have flashes(just tiny little ones) sometimes, and it happens when i look to the left then downwards. My prescription is -1.75 and -2.00 and i haven't experienced floaters so far. Is this normal?

View 1 RepliesI have been having some concerns with my vision to start off I have myopia and astigmatism, but recently I had noticed a flash of light. It happened when I was sleeping, so I'm not 100 percent sure if it was part of a dream or if I really saw it. I also noticed that if I turned my heart really quickly from right to left I would see what looked like a gold light around my eye that last for maybe a few seconds. I was super worried at that point and went to see my eye doctor as soon as possible she didn't see any tears or any signs of a detached retina but did notice that my vision prescription had changed. To be on the safe side she suggested I go see an opthamologist in a few weeks. I of course was too worried to wait a few weeks so I made the appointment right after my eye doctor visit.
The opthamologist checked my vision and told me my eyes were healthy and everything looked fine. She suggested that the flashes could be caused by ocular migraines and told me unless I am seeing tons of flashes, floaters, or dark curtains over my eye then its okay to see a few. I was very relieved with the news, but I still am worried something is wrong. I thought I saw some flashes today in my peripheral vision and my vision seemed a little off. My vision seeming off is most likely due to needing new glasses. I noticed some of the possible flashes today when I was in an area where there is bright lights. Could really bright lighting/sunlight causes eye flashes or my vision to act weird?
I also use my smart phone quite a bit and notice it when I'm using my phone for extended periods of time. Could that cause flashes or vision issues? and could having too much caffeine cause vision problems? I don't really feel like going back to my doctor every time I see flashes, but I just worry if I don't maybe it could be something serious. I have just been stressing and having awful anxiety about it even though I was just told my vision was fine literally a few days ago.
Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you if you took the time to read this I know its super long lol. I'm just not sure what to do I mean maybe I'm just being paranoid or just letting anxiety get the better of me.
Has anyone experienced 'flashes' in an eye - (totally different to floaters)?
If so, how long did it last - have been told could take up to three months.
Did it get worse with deteriorating peripheral vision - a sign of retinal displacement.?
Suddenly today I noticed that I seemed to have a film over my right eye and I was experiencing floaters. I had multifocal lens replacement surgery a couple years ago. Everything went well. It was the best thing I had done. I wore glasses since I about 7. I had a couple small floaters before the surgery but only saw them now and then. I had put some oil on my face earlier today and was wondering if some had gotten into my eye , would it have caused this to happen? I put saline drops in my eye and visine thinking this may have been the cause. trying to rinse out my eye. It did not help and am getting worried that something may be wrong. What worries me is that it came on sort of fast and has been the same all day. I also have been under a lot of stress lately, working long hours. Would really like some advice on what to do.
View 1 RepliesI am just recovering from shingles. I have never felt so ill in all my life or been so tired. I have been left with intermittent pain in my hairline where the blisters were and also in my eye. It seems to come on every afternoon and last all night. My eye waters and I have developed floaters and blurred vision. I have tried paracetamol which helps with the pain but not with the sensitivity to light and blurred vision.I go to bed with a cold damp flannel but it doesn't seem to help much, my scalp also itches unbearably.
View 1 RepliesI've been doing a lot of reading about black spots in vision and the term 'floaters' doesn't seem to apply in my case. I first noticed it a week or so ago when I was reading on Kindle. There is a black spot that is constant, in my left eye, its small and I can see it pretty much all the time if reading at the right angle I can use it almost like a pointer moving it along the line of text I'm reading. I've also had blurred vision but I put that down to tiredness from reading from electronic device. I've also noticed a 'cobweb' like line in my other eye that again is constant. I'm booked in for an eye test but its not for a while I'm starting to get bit worried.
View 14 RepliesOk so i have this weird problem with my eyes. Randomly (happened a lot when a year ago but stopped until now) i start seeing distorted lines. Kind of like millions of tiny prisms are rotating in a line. The lines often start in the center of my vision (making it hard to read) then migrate to cover the left or right side of my vision (but no longer the center)
It appears to be transparent but it is actually not due to the flashing of colours all over it.
They often take shapes but they seem abstract and are hard to focus on. Kind of like a multicolored distortion prism floater (the lines that you can see floating sometimes) although it grows to cover ~30% of my vision.
The "distortion" often stays visible (or moves out of sight) between 20 minutes and 3 hours.
I have not discovered any trigger for this "distortion"
I just wondered if any of you guys see things in the corner off your eyes like flashes and things going across the room and floaters..

View 1 RepliesI have been seeing pin point flashes in my eye for a long time, a few months now. they vary in color from red to silver. they last for half a second and appear out of nowhere with no warning signs. i have also been seeing a lots of floaters which appear as moving dark black lines rather than squiggly bubbles ( i see the squiggly bubbles too but they happen rarely). the dark lines don't usually bother me unless im looking at a wall or when i'm outside. if i'm outside during daytime the frequency of seeing the dark lines greatly increases even if i'm just looking at the ground. oh there's also something else, whenever i look at the sky at daytime i see a lot of glitter moving around almost looking like shooting stars.

Over the last week I keep having them and swing my head round, like a flash has gone off.
I am pregnant with my second child and 20 weeks into the pregnancy. I have had some really bad headaches this entire pregnancy so far but the dr told me that's typical as I had some severe headaches before pregnancy. Now the headaches have gotten worse, about a week ago I started suffering from blind spots in my right eye and every time I would close my eyes I would see this bright ring flash in both eyes. After about two days of this I went to my eye dr who said my actual eye is fine but it may be a neuro issue. Well it has continued but I don't have insurance nor a lot of money so I have been to another dr yet and last night and today I am also suffering from temporary hearing loss when my headaches get bad and my vision starts leaving me (now in both eyes) . I am scared out of my mind and just trying to figure out some type of explanation as to what might be going on.
View 3 RepliesI'm not particularly worried about this but I'd rather know what it is. I quite commonly will get, after stretching or getting up suddenly, flying black dots in my peripheral vision. These tiny black dots just appear, fly in a direction, then disappear. A bit like a swarm of flies in the corner of my eye except they keep appearing and disappearing individually. It might last up to five seconds or so. Then it's gone and I feel fine. I'm pretty sure I've had this for years.
View 1 RepliesI think I am going insane... I have been suffering from episodes of hot flashes followed by cold chills with 99.1 to 99.7 degrees fever for about 4 years now.. I have had Blood tested for almost everything- Lupus, Thyroid.-Aids, Sed rates.. etc... and nothing comes back... The dr's can not find anything.. This last episode is lasting 31 days and counting.. I am starting to get a lot of anxiety, my body aches and I have headaches that come and go..
I am 45 years old and feel like I am90! I have been in relatively good health.. Is is possible that this is perimeno? I just started hormone replacement therapy and My obgyn has me on a very low dose of progesterone - pills and testosterone..I am hoping this helps.. I am so sad and scared, I don't know what to do.
I am currently suffering a severe bout of anxiety - the 4th in my life. I am 41 and a single parent I'm trying to manage without medication although have taken it in the past. My body is testing me with different symptoms every few weeks. The one i'm struggling with at the moment is bad eye floaters. I know i have them its just they 'appear' (i hope) to be worse and this is making me really stressed and panicky. Has anyone else had this and then they improved or their attitude to them improved? I feel like i'm going to go blind or something and it is really getting me down. I am a trying to manage this so i can have a life with my son.
View 10 RepliesI call them "my mosquitoes". At first I thought they were and was swatting at non-existent bugs. I didn't notice them before the capsulotomy. When I asked the ophthalmologist that did the procedure if they would ever go away or would I always have them, he just shrugged.
View 1 RepliesI would like to know if anyone else (and I know there are many) who have floaters that turned into PVD. Mine started on Oct.2011 with small black dots in left eye. From there it got worse and having to see a Ophthalmologist for the first time and her sending me off to see a Glaucoma specialist with out giving me any information scared. The glaucoma specialist said everything looks fine come back in 2-3 yrs. Well I was hoping all would get better with the floater situation, but it gradually got worse. When I look back I realize the floaters weren't so bad, but it was not being educated in what they were didn't help and only led me to becoming very anxious and eventually depressed. It has been 3 years now, the floaters got worse and affected my right eye too. My left eye had crystal worm like floater that would get right in the center of my eye. All in all I went through a year of this. Went to a neuro-opthamologist and a retinal specialist. I finally had a vitrectomy in my left eye and 3 months later had to have cataract surgery. (Prior to this, I would see afterimages, which caused more anxiety. Became light sensitive.) The cataract surgery had some after-affects. I became more far-sighted which has caused a diopter difference between the two eyes and the cataract eye also has dysphotopsia, where I see the edge of the IOL. Again on top of all this I am very sensitive to light, see spots if something is glaring off an object.
View 1 RepliesWent to eye doctor last week and found my retina fine and saw a floater. It's awful won't go away. I have tried to ignore it but I get more nervous trying. Does anyone else get anxious due to these buggers?
View 2 RepliesI have a question about floaters I dont have the clear ones I only see the black strongly ones about nearly 2 months ago I got the bug then the flu and then severe anxiety 4 around the 1st 4 weeks my eyes just felt blurry and out of focus but in the last 2 weeks the floaters have come I mostly only see them when i'm out in the sun or look sideways I can look at my tv and phone screen without seeing them I had a ct scan it came up clear and have been cleared by the optometrist twice in the last month my questions are will they go away if it's sinus related as the ct scan revealed bad sinus and I didn't see the floaters before this spring I also cant look at the white walls ambi stuck with this is it the sinus and will it all clear with the weather and if not can I expect to get worse
