I just got my results and it says that I have increased protein in urine? What are the possible causes of high levels of protein in urine? I would like some explanation.

View 2 RepliesFew, weeks go I had routine urine test. Doctor told me that I have proteinuria and hematuria. I feel well I don’t have any other symptoms. Doctors recommended me a physical examination and urine testing once or twice a year. Do I need kidney biopsy? Is this serious?
View 2 Replieshow do you remove protein from urine, I got it from using certain kind of chemo.
View 1 RepliesI have increased level of proteins in urine. My doctor said that I need to collect more urine and bring to examination to determine what kind of urinary disorder is that. What can cause increased level of proteins in urine?
View 1 RepliesOn a doctor's visit back in December, it was discovered that i had microscopic blood in my urine. This went on for a few months, and increased with every doctor's check up. A urologist did an ultrasound of the kidney/bladder back in February, and all was normal. He also did cystoscopy which was normal too. He also did a test which shows my bladder holds sufficient amount of urine. The problem is, we never really figured out what the cause was, and recently i have had a new symptom (mucus tissue looking things in my urine). I am considering going back to a different urologist, but has anyone experienced something similar, or know what tissue looking bits in urine is?
View 4 RepliesIm 29 year old female, i've always thought my painful bladder and urination was from chronic bladder infections for years until my doctor recently sent me to a specialist and sent off for urine culture and came back negative. .have all the symptoms of a bladder infection. Have large amount of blood (4+) ..Urologist sent my for a ct ivp to look for stones or look for something abnormal with ureters or kidney, nothing ..everything came back normal..now the urologist ordered a test to look at the bladder with scope through my urethra and also take a biopsy of bladder wall to look for cancer cells..owww. Any answers on what this can be I have all the symptoms of bladder cancer but im young and no family history of bladder cancer im a non smoker /alcohol drinker.
View 2 RepliesTest show that I have a enlarged kidney, I have protien in my urine, severe back pain to the right side, strong smelly urine, blood pressure very high now on 10mg blood pressure tablets, Doctors have done tests on my kidneys and say the test shows the kidneys are functioning normally so I have not to go back to hospital for six months.
View 3 RepliesI am a 32 year old female. With Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and otherwise very healthy, except for a recent issue this summer with C.Diff/Clostridium Difficile after being given Augmentin antibiotic for bronchitis back in May. It killed all my good bacteria.. and have been on Flagyl and Vancomycin to treat the c diff damage Augmentin did. Back on Vanco a 2nd round.
Anyways, a month and a half later after the cdiff started, I developed this weird "burning" sensation around and inside my urethra. I had no idea what it was. Never had a UTI before that I know of. Then, I noticed these little "specks"/particles that looked like teeny little skin flakes in my pee and sometimes its cloudy with it... and weird little "bubbles". there were 4 occasions.. where something that resembled a shred of lettuce, very small, but looked, like.. lettuce, even the little veiny lettuce leaf things... came out during urination. oddly, i had lettuce the day before 2 of those events. I am pretty sure it came out with my urine, as the toilets were perfectly clear beforehand... and it happened at my work toilet and at home. and i did not do a #2 during any of these incidents. these were all in afternoons/evenings. and i normally only have BM's first thing in the morning. even with cdiff. i never saw such a thing in my pee before. then again, i never exactly looked all the time at my pee. until the burning thing started... then yeah, i was paying attention.
So, I do not have insurance, and was under the care of a Gastroenterologist at the main city hospital for the cdiff and he was letting me see him for free for 3 appointments as a courtesy thing. So, I told him how I thought I had a UTI, and if I have a UTI, I am in BIG trouble because that means I would need an antibiotic.. and I cant be on any other antibiotics as it would cause me to have a major c.diff setback or even kill me.
So, he ordered me to get a Urinalysis by Microscopy and Urine Culture test at the lab downstairs to their office. The urinalysis came back all normal/negative.. except trace ketones and trace mucus. everything else was fine. Urine culture came back and no Leukocytes, etc. BUT... it had 3 bacterias.. but within "normal limits". it just said "#1.. gram negative rods 2,000 count #2. gram neg rods 3,000 #3 Lactobacillus species 50,000. colonies per ML. Lab paper just says most likely sample collection contamination due to the mixed bacterias found. repeat if they wanted to. and that was it. doc said they don't treat unless its over 100,000 colonies. and they considered it a non-UTI. is this correct?
So... question is... is this actually even an "infection"??? The burning went away for several days, actually.
BUT I am currently taking probiotics.. for the cdiff treatment. LOTS and lots of Lifeway Kefir...which contains.. lactobacillus.........
so, could this be that its somehow getting into my urine? or... vaginal contamination how i did the sample collection? just funyn how it happens to be.. just that bacteria.
I know docs thought perhaps I may have IC back in 2007, but was never tested for anything. That was after I was having chronic urination... im talking 20-30 times a night. AFter they ruled out other problems and diabetes.
Also, can baking soda help fix this "problem"?
Urine flow rate is 7.4 ml/s. What does it indicates? any problem with this?
View 1 RepliesToday morning I waked up after sleeping about 9 hours (without going to the bathroom and after drinking a lot before the sleep). After going to the bathroom I felt pretty acute pain in my lower abdominal. It became milder during the day, still preserving though and appearing sometimes with more strength while changing position (sitting, or standing) and also reminding about itself sometimes after urinating (but not always). It kind of feels like muscle pain and earlier could be felt also while touching the muscles close to the penis. Now it is way milder, but didn't go. Can this be a result of muscle stretch or something like this?
View 1 RepliesI was getting a few pains in my belly yesterday which got really bad. I ended up getting a nurse around and she took tests and found out I have a trace of blood and protein in my urine. I'm worried because she mentioned something about my kidneys, I'm on antibiotics worried if the infection goes to the kidneys.
View 1 RepliesCan any pregnant women have protein in their urine is that bad or something normal??
View 12 RepliesHad two tests done, one was a full body check which detected high cholesterol in the blood and rbc count of 22 in urine where 13 was the borderline and nothing else. For the follow up urine test a month later there was protein detected but rbc was down to 13. Now what's getting me worried is that the doc said there might be a kidney or other organ problem and that i'd need to see a specialist. Unfortunately I won't get to see this specialist for another month and im getting worried with what the problem might be and if waiting another month might make it worse. As far as symptoms go, I feel fine, or at least i'm not in any pain, previously or now.
View 3 RepliesI just got back from my Drs appointment. I'm 19 weeks 2 days and they told me I have protein in my urine and it's been sent off to see how the level is. Has anyone had this or going through this? If so could you give me advice on it? All I was told is that it can be a problem.
View 2 RepliesPregnant with my 5th baby and have had pretty crappy morning sickness I'm currently 16 weeks and since my first apt At maybe 7 weeks I've been showing a lot of protein in my urine, the first time it was 2+ and the the pat two times it was 3+ the last one was just today at my drs. My Dr is concerned because my actual urine analysis showed no signs of infections or illness at all besides this ton of protein always in my urine. She says its way to early for pre e and isn't really sure what's wrong so she is having my kidney function checked, she's is always checking all my sugars because I keep continually whiting out to the point of almost fainting every time I stand up! I've never experienced anything like this in any of my other children or even my m/c has anyone experienced very high urine protein levels and whiteouts and actually get a diagnosis? I am still pretty sick puking wise but nothing as bad as when I couldn't even keep down water at first .. Ok well now I'm rambling lol so any info or insight would be greatly appreciated im sort of freaking out as I don't even know what to expect. Does this mean I'm way more likely to get pre e once I hit my third trimester? Ugh I hate the unknown.
View 5 RepliesMy mum was told she has high protein in her urine and the doctor suggested taking ramipril 1.25mg, but once she starts she will always have to use this medication.
This is obviously concerning her and she also worried as this medicine is normal for other conditions and not this.
I'm hoping that someone can help to alleviate my severe stress level. For my annual checkup a week ago, I had a urinalysis done. This is the first time I've had this done, as I have a new doctor. The results showed that I was a 1+ for protein. Specific gravity was 1.015 and everything else was negative. There were no red blood cells, no white blood cells, no epithelial cells, no bacteria, no crystals, and most importantly no casts. The one very strange thing was a PH of 8.5, which seems way out of wack. I took my PH here at home, and it's around 6.0. I have read that a high PH can cause a false positive for the protein. So, my doctor said that he wanted me to come in to have it checked again. In the meantime, like an idiot, I went searching around on the internet about chronic kidney disease. So, I was freaking out for almost a day, and gave my second test the next morning. However, when I urinated in the morning, the water in the toilet foamed up like a mug root beer! Then I REALLY started freaking out, reading that foamy urine means protein in the urine. I do NOT remember seeing foam in my urine before this. I do have a long history of anxiety and panic issues. I do NOT have a history of chronic hypertension. If I'm at the doctor's office, or times when I'm anxious and panicky, my blood pressure can get above 140/90. Most of the time it is below 130/90, and I can get it to 120/80 or lower when I'm completely relaxed. My prior doctor almost always told me 120/80 when I was in for checkups. Also, back in November I had blood work done, and that showed that my creatinine level was on the high side of normal (1.19), but still in normal range, and I have no idea if I exercised the night before, ate meat, etc. More importantly, my blood albumin level was right in the middle of normal at 4.4, and total protein was also in normal range, and my BUN was 15. I have read that stress can cause there to be protein in the urine, and I'm REALLY hoping that is what is causing what I'm seeing, because everything else seems to look good in the tests, especially that there were no casts found. One further thing...there was ONE time since I had the second test that I had a long stream of urine, and there was NO foam in the water...completely clear. This was after I had spent some time with a friend and was fairly calm. However, every time since then...the last 2 days...foam every time. I'm to the point where I'm not even looking...just turning my head away. I'm hoping that someone else has had a similar experience and can tell me that there is a chance the foam can be caused by my stress level, and that I just need to calm down and relax since all the other tests look good. I have some hope because of no casts being found, and because of the prior blood work and the one time I urinated with no foam.
View 1 RepliesHas anyone ever had normal lab values but over 500 protein in their urine? And Bilirubin was only slightly elevated. Normal creatinine levels no diabetes or high blood pressure, have had severe weight loss appetite loss and night sweats which is what I went in for (thought thyroid but was not!) Was referred to nephrologist, not sure what to expect.
View 1 RepliesIs there a food or drink that causes it or could it be combination?
View 4 RepliesI am 27 weeks pregnant with my third child. I had to have a urinalysis done yesterday and it showed that I have high levels of protein in my urine. I don't see my doctor for two weeks. My pregnancy so far has been pretty smooth. I have pcos and have had a cyst but that's it. Has anyone ever had high protein in your urine and if so what was the outcome?
View 2 RepliesI had a count of over 500 protein in urine than two weeks later 100, primary dr says not too concerned....
