I am a 21 years old girl.I am having a pain in the left upper back, under the left armpit and in the left chest for the last two weeks since I did some heavy lifting during shifting.The pain can be felt when I am stretching. The pain doesn't go with painkillers. I did some searching on the Net and found out that back pain is a symptom of lung cancer. Is it possible? I haven't experienced weight loss,fatigue or hoarseness.

View 1 RepliesI am 22 year old male. My question is why does my left shoulder and right should hurt. The right one is the worse. It pains from the top of the shoulder, down around to the back of the elbow. It's been happening for around two months and hope I don't need surgery. I've been bmx riding for over ten years. I've never badly hurt my shoulders before so it can't be a old injury aggravated. But I work delivering gas bottles that requires a lot of lifting with upper body strength. I've been doing that for nearly three years but I've never had previous problems during this job. So I hope I can get help, as it affects my work to a point but not serious yet. I can't ride properly anymore, and I need to sleep on my back.
View 1 RepliesI am 29 and Female. I have been under a great deal of stress lately. I have been having some minor health problems that cause my mind to go to that dark place. I am having very irregular periods and GERD/Gallbladder issues. Also, I am planning a wedding and my mother was just diagnosed with Lung cancer about 2 weeks ago.
My upper back across the "meaty" part of my shoulders has been so tight and painful. If my fiance rubs them, he finds all kinds of trigger points that are so painful to the touch I can't breathe. In the middle of my upper back I feel a sharp pain sometimes. My neck muscles are tight as well as the tops of my arms down to my elbows. On occasion my fingers tingle.
As of the past 2 days I feel a pressure on my chest right below my collar bone. If I yawn I can feel my throat muscles get sore. The very top of my sternum is tender to the touch. It almost feels bruised.
I did a little bit of research and it seems that all of these problems are connected. The scalene muscle group can cause all of these problems. I am going to see a massage therapist on thursday. Hopefully I get some relief.
Another bit of info, I have a desk job. I am at a computer for 10 hours a day. I work 60 + hours a week. I had a chest CT scan with contrast in July and it came back clear. ( unrelated incident ) So I believe I can rule out anything major. The scan is only 3 months old.
My question is; has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to ease your symptoms? I have tried muscle rub so far. Doesn't help much...I am going to ice the areas today and see if that helps.
I have a pain in between my diaphragm which leads through to my upper back, I have had for approximately 3 months but getting worse, if I lie on my stomach it hurts in both front and back. I have read all sorts of things that it might be from hernia to liver/kidney problem and gallstones... I did have a small incident where I strained myself trying to hold a motorbike up from falling down and I guess I have had the problem from then on, if I stretch out sometimes I will hear a click which radiates from the front to the back, if I push in my diaphragm it hurts. I live in a third world country so and worried about going to doctor.
View 1 RepliesFor the last 6 months I've been having quite localized pains in the upper left abdomen just below the ribs, accompanied by nausea and sometimes back pain mainly at nights. I sometimes have wind, but hardly ever heartburn. Two doctors have thought it a gastric problem, but Zantac and Omeprazole don't seem to work. I wondered whether it could be my pancreas, as I've been on Epilim Chrono for 4 years, which can affect pancreas. I've come off this now and am still getting problems, and my amylase is normal, although my liver function tests are elevated. One doctor thought it may be kidney stones and sent me for an ultrasound, which was normal. I was told though that the ultrasound couldn't see the pancreas properly, nor the stomach & bowel linings. I had a stool test for H Pylori which was negative. Any ideas on what this could be, or further tests I could do?
View 6 RepliesFor the last 30 days I have been extremely sick and in and out of the ER, the GI doctor, as well as my Primary Care Physician.
I have dropped 27lbs so far, without being able to keep little to no food down. Right upper abdomen quadrant pain is constant and sharp, fevers and chills on and off, lack of appetite, burping, indigestion, gas, and so on, and it has gotten to the point that I get dizzy very easily and also extremely tired no matter how much sleep I get.
My doctor put me on an IBS medication though I am not having any trouble with constipation. He asked me to perform tests "Try consuming things like: beer, cheese, peanut butter, milk. If it causes you pain then call and leave a telephone consult and I will get back with you" Beer test- it went alright other than the immense amount of pain it put me in, woke up after just deciding to go to bed, vomiting up with tiny chunks of blood. Cheese, cant eat it without pain, same with peanut butter and milk.
I have tried a very bland diet but nothing seems to stay completely down, I may get a small part of it digested but that is about it everything else comes up.
I have tried coffee, cant have that anymore because I cant drink it without creamer. I am already under a vegetarian diet for the last three years, but it is no use.
I have had a HIDA scan but the doctors said "You're gallbladder is at 60%. There is nothing wrong with you." X-ray, ct-scan, and ultrasound all came back with the same result. Of course, this coming from military doctors, so it isn't like the civilian world.
I have been going back and forth between the doctors for this last month, and I go through this nearly every year, two to four times each year, but this one is extremely long lasting and extremely painful. So painful that I start seeing spots and get very faint thus having to lay down. They gave me stuff for GERD as I already was in speech therapy two years ago because my Larynx closed up on me for a PT test, they accumulated it due to indigestion (something I do not ever get).
Can Cervical Spondylosis also cause pain in the Upper back

My lower back so been hurting and when I go to stand up its almost like my lower back, butt, and upper legs are numb and won't support me. it causes pain when this happens and it's hard for me to straighten my body up. the longer I sit the worse the pain is when I stand. when I bend over my upper legs try to give out on me. this has never happened before and as I don't have insurance I'm hoping someone can give me some insight as to what this may be and what I should do
View 1 RepliesMy 88 year old mother who has dementia has developed odd sensations and pain in her upper back. She's had two bouts of extreme pain which moved around but were in a similar area of her back - lower ribs on left side. The pain lasted only for a day each time and each time I saw what looked like sweat pimples but they were on her upper chest at the front - ie a different place. Now she often feels cold and shivery (when in fact she is hot) and puts more layers on to the point where she starts sweating, feels pain in her upper back and gets very anxious when she gets it (most days in the afternoon/evening). She gets night sweats. Does this sound as if it could be left over from shingles?
View 1 RepliesI've had some blood work done because I was extremely tired and have been for the last couple of months, muscle pain (mostly upper back and neck), headaches, muscle weakness, being emotional (bursting into tears) mostly because extremely tired. digestive issues etc.
Results came back, only thing wrong is D3 level at 6 ng/ml (minimum should be 30). I was prescribed 25000 UI a week for three months. I also sent a mail with the results to my endocrinologist. She says she doesn't think my symptoms come from a vitamin D deficiency. Now I respect the woman a LOT. She has helped me in many ways in the past and she's been the only one to find what was wrong with me years back when I had severe health issues and every other doctor thought I was just "depressed".
I am though very surprised by her answer. I've read of a lot of people having very similar symptoms with vitamin D deficiency, and for most of them the symptoms just flew away when their vitamin D level went back up.

For 6-8 years I've had on and off chest pain, left arm pain, neck pain, upper back, even pain in both jaw sides.
I've seen 3 cardiologists in the last 4 years. Blood pressure is a little high and also cholesterol is a tad high (again working on it)
They all say my heart checks out (like 6 ekgs, treadmill stress test, ECHOs and all checks out clean) been about 2 years since last echo and almost 3 since that stress test.
I also have GERD. Take Prilosec.
The last 2-3 weeks tho... On and off I've been having left arm, left breast pain. Throbbing. Stabbing. Aching. On and off. My neck has been hurting on and off too. My upper back, same thing. My jaw both sides on and off.
I have had an achy upper back pain for a few days now. I was attributing it to having slept funny, but now I am thinking it was a warning sign I missed. I woke up at 2am with horrible nausea and sharp pain in my upper left back. It comes in waves and was so severe it brought tears to my eyes. I have had kidney pain from infection in the past and while different I think this pain may be kidney related too. I am trying to find some way to get comfortable enough to sleep since it is the middle of the night and I don't want to wake two sleeping babies and drag them to the ER. I tried calling the nurse helpline provided by my insurance company, but he just told me to try a heating pad and some Tylenol.
I have a lot of prescription pain meds in my medicine cabinet because I have had 2 c sections and another surgery within the last couple years and I hate taking pain meds... I took an oxycodone. That along with a vibrating massage mat under my back seems to be helping with the pain for the moment, but the nausea is even worse now. Any suggestions for that? I just need to make it to morning so I can go to an urgent care clinic. There is no one to watch the babies right now and of course o would get sick on Sunday when my primary care doc is closed.
I want to know if running or anything like it increases height. If so, how fast and how long should I be running, also how much? I am 16 and 5'6. I weigh 150lbs and I want to grow taller.
View 14 RepliesI looked up some older discussion about symptoms after LLETZ, seems that everyone's condition is different.
I was told CIN 2 in Dec, 2013 after my pap smear and biopsy. And the doctor gave me a LLETZ procedure in the following week. I expressed my concerns of bleeding post op as i have had bleeding tendency, such as bleeding nose and easy bruise. My doc asked me to have a blood test and they found my platelet is low 140. The reference range is 150- 450, so they think it's okay for the surgery.
Had general anesthetic, and the op went fine(As i was knocked out in seconds). two weeks later, a heavy bleeding started after a short period. And the period was 2 weeks earlier.I waited for about a week to see if it got better, and my pads got soaked through in about 1 hour, i was scared. So I visited my doc and she used the chemicals to burn the wounds and the bleeding got a lot worse. There was this very wet flow i could feel even i was lying still for hours. I became lightheaded and tired after another horrible day of bleeding. So i rang the doc the next day and she admitted me to hospital and gave me another minor procedure to use electricity to burn the area.
A few days later, the bleeding came back again. And i wasn't sure if it is a period now. As i felt i have had PMS for a long time and the color was so bright.
Long story in short, i have been bleeding for 6 weeks after my LLETZ op now. My platelet is low 144 and clotting time is longer than normal.
In the meantime, i also have very upset and bloated tummy. The doc put me on antibiotics and iron. Some times i have constipation ( side effect of iron) and the next day it became diarrhea. I couldn't sleep during the night, tossing around with the mild fever, swelling gastral, stinging aching pain in my lower back, right under the center of lumbar spine. And i had to stay in bed most time otherwise it will cause more bleeding. It is a mental torment to have your vitality killed each day by more bleeding, fatigue and more pain....
After pints of blood loss, i think i definitely have anemia now. A few nights earlier, when the bleeding and pain made me sleepless and i opened my eyes, for ten second, everything i saw in the bedroom became pink! I was so scared that i might loss my vision. Now my vision just became blurry.
Sorry to give you so much detail, as i try to be specific that if someone has experienced the similar situation they can share some light.
My doc is super busy and i struggle to communicate with her and have her listen to my symptoms. And she didn't care about my gastric pain and lower back pain simply because that's not her area.
Did anyone have similar experience? I would like to know if i should see someone about my bleeding, lower back pain and pastoral pain? Is it a side affect from the operation? I really need to get my life back and get back to yoga and hiking again! Appreciated your sharing and comments!
I was hoping someone could help, every month I take my period I have massive blood clots some the size of a small orange, some months it knocks me right of my feet were the pain is that intense I can't walk with pain in my stomach and back..I have an awful smell, headache and feel very emotional, I have had children but this has only started from December..it's terrible I can literally do nothing for 2 weeks then only getting over it when it starts again, some months r worse than other does anyone experience this? If so what is it? My doctor puts it down to heavy periods.

Had stroke 13 years ago. Have suffered anxiety ever since. Mainly dizziness. Recently came off citalopram after 8 years, started on sertraline. Never felt worse in my life......including severe diarrhea. Dr now stopped sertraline and put me on propranolol one week ago. Still feel awful and dizziness possibly worse. Will anything ever work?
View 3 RepliesSince August of 2013 I have had 6/7 bladder infections. I have lost around 30 pounds without changing much about my diet or exercising more regularly. I have been experiencing pain in my lower back on the left side and want to know if it should be something I should be concerned with. I have had bad back pain for around 2 years now but this pain is a little more specific. August was the first time I have had a bladder infection however when i was 16 (21 now) when I went in for a physical and was told I had a bladder infection. I didn't feel any pain so I didn't take the medicine prescribed. I went in to see a doctor when I was overseas for another bladder infection and they took an X-ray of my kidneys about 3 weeks ago and they didn't find anything. They told me that I did have a problem emptying my bladder. I had an ultrasound done and had to drink water before hand and when I emptied my bladder the ultrasound after my bladder was still full. I don't remember exactly what they called it. I just finished a month long round of antibiotics for a bladder infection and it is still not gone. Before this medication about a week before I was on a week long medicine for a bladder infection and it returned a week later.
View 1 RepliesI had a hernia repaired in the groin 7 years ago and suffered no pain since. However a month ago i lifted a small weight at work and felt a small pull at the repair site. Since this i have had a sharp burning sensation just off the repair scar and my left testicle constantly aches. I have been to a and e and my Gp they say no hernia, had an ultrasound and they say no problem. I'm ok if lying still but if i move, walk, lift or anything remotely strenuous i get the pain.
View 1 RepliesI am a 34 year old male, no illnesses, suffering from hip pain for a while. The pain is on the outside of the hip in-line with the groin area, it doesn't hurt to walk but lifting and moving the leg when sitting/laying causes pain, as does doing butterfly stretches and bending the knee inwards/outwards. When it's particularly painful my whole leg will ache right down to the ankle.
