Treatment / Remedies For Fordyce Spots On Lips?
Jul 19, 2012
Has someone found a topical cream that actually works? I went to see my doctor today who didn't even have a clue what Fordyce spots/SP was. when I filled him in he refused to prescribe me Tretinoin! Anyone know where I can buy this in the UK? Also would love to hear about any home remedies people have tried RECENTLY. I've been taking vitamins everyday and eat sh*t loads of garlic now but it still seems to be getting worse. Or maybe I just think it' getting worse being paranoid about it. Would it be worth me going to see a dermatologist? Would there be anything they could prescribe? I really wouldn't feel comfortable stabbing holes in my lips and squeezing these things out + there are to many my whole top lip is covered!

I have had Fordyce spots since I was 11 and I'm 14 now. Since then they have spread to my back, lips, eyes, nose, and all over shaft and scrotum. I know they're harmless but its just so hard to be confident like this. I have not told anyone about this except my best friend. Turns out he had them too! So anyone out there who has these stupid things I feel you.

I have flesh coloured bumps on the shaft of my penis i haven't been sexually active so i have read that it's rare that they are genital warts but i'm still scared, i am hoping that they are just fordyce spots ...

Well Im a male and Im 16 and not sexually active. I have these a bunch of white spots at the base of my shaft and like two mid shaft. and they are all over my scrotum. When they are popped, a white pus type stuff comes out (like popping a whitehead on your face or nose or whatever) I don't pop them, but i did when i first noticed it when I was about 13 years old. I've looked around and the closest thing i can come to is that it's fordyce spots? I really don't want to go to a doctor as this is pretty embarrassing even though its their jobs and all but yeah. Btw when i was taking accutane for my acne they sorta went away? Idk i cant remember clearly but i think i saw less of them but i don't remember. I'm off accutane now but yeah.

I have a weird cluster of bumps on my penis. I have always had this and never thought much about it, but i just want to be sure. I researched a bit about it and it looks like fordyce spots. I want to know what is exactly is and why it has appeared. Is there a way to show you what it looks like?

Can anyone who's been in a relationship tell me whether or not they think they developed fordyce spots (on their genitals or lips) shortly after having contact with another person who has it, or who had it before the relationship and the person they're with developed it after the relationship began. I know doctors say its not contagious/infectious but I want to try and make absolutely sure before I get into a relationship, especially after reading a post by a person who noticed the spots shortly after dating someone who had them.

I'm a male, 25 years of age, who has braces, so I chronically get some ulcers in my mouth due to the braces and drinking and such. This past week I drank an abundant amount of alcohol. I also smoked some dabs (very concentrated form of marijuana) which I normally never do. During the week I drank out of multiple random beverages that people had drank out of. I also kissed a girl/ she gave me oral sex, which happened about 2 days ago. I messaged the girl asking if she had ever come into contact with any STD's. She said no. I have an ulcer or two in my mouth and on my tongue that I chalked up to heavily drinking and the braces (figure I may have bit my tongue being so drunk). They looked fairly normal compared to any other ulcers I had received in the past and began healing as usual. I noticed some small white bumps or spots (because they aren't really bumpy) on the upper part of my lips and in the corner of my mouth (still on my lips). When I do research on the bumps they closely resemble the pictures I see for Fordyce Spots. They don't really resemble the pictures for oral herpes. They aren't posing any problems of pain either. I was heavily exposed to the sun this week (almost everyday) and didn't really possess the best hygiene. I went to the doctor today and he really wasn't much help because he didn't even really look at my lips. Just asked if I had been sexually active, I told him yes and what happened. Then he automatically assumed it was probably herpes and prescribed me some meds. Then said to come back in two weeks and get tested. I plan on getting tested this week and then again in two weeks as well, but I'm not sure if it's Herpes or the Fordyce Spots or just me being paranoid. Or if it could be something caused by smoking the marijuana and heavily drinking. I also don't know if it's an allergic reaction of some type. But I'm freaking out.

I have acne and have just started accutane course (two weeks in). I also have fordyce spots on penis before treatment, fairly little and i could live with it. I read online many people think accutane gets rid of them and they do short term unitl you stop the drug but when they come back they come back 10 times worse. I really don't want this to be the case, and am seriously thinking stopping the course coz i dont want my penis covered when before I had them but could live with it just about.

So i've had these spots on my penis for as long as i remember and they really destroy my self confidence, i'm 20 years old and never had a sexual partner mainly because of this, did fool around with one person but they only touched it with their hand, any insight would be great..
Its mainly the ones around the base of my penis that bothers me/ When i spread the skin out they're like mini spots all together.

I've had Fordyce spots since a very early age and it seems to be getting progressively worse is there anything anyone can tell me about my condition. Is it going to get better or worse

I'm 17 and I was just looking in the mirror at my lips, because they had been really badly chapped two weeks before. I bought some kind of chap stick, and it worked really well... no more chapped lips. However I noticed today that I now have little white bumps on my upper lip. I've never noticed them before, and I was wondering if you could get these bumps from using too much chapstick perhaps.

I have had scrotal sebaceous cysts since i was about 24. I also have fordyce spots on the shaft of my penis and balls. I tend to sweat alot which i believe can be related to my condition. I would say I sweat much more than normal person. I believe my cysts formed because my fordyce's spots get irritated and I started to itch them way too much because it felt really good. While doing this I noticed that cysts started to form because of rupturing the gland. The cysts form because of blocked glands which can happen on their own but can happen more frequently when irritated by rubbing or itching.
Here is an example of what Fordyce's spots are. I bet most of you have this too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordyce's_spot
I also shaved my balls and it absolutely did not help the problem because the Fordyce's spots are usually around the hair follicle. I have gotten some cysts from ingrown hairs as well.
This problem has been so embarrassing for me and it took me 6 years to actually go to the urologist to get the cysts checked. I made an appointment - The doctored confirmed that they were cysts. ----Note--- tell the doctor that they bother you and that they are uncomfortable and that they keep growing. If you tell the doctor that it is a purely cosmetic issue the insurance company will not cover the removal procedure.---- The doctor then scheduled me for surgery which I went in for today. The procedure was not that bad other than the embarrassment i felt when the nurses asked me what I was in there for. Much better than feeling the "Are those herpes" question from the chicks you are seeing. The surgery took about 45 minutes. I had 5 cysts about the size of peas removed. The procedure was pretty painless and they give you good drugs to manage the pain after. I already feel much better about my decision to get them removed. I feel in control of my life again. There is not too much information on the web about this condition and I feel its important to tell my story. I will update on how it turns out as time goes on. I read through every post on this thread and here is what I can tell you.
1. Don't Rub or Itch your sack or penis.
2. Do not shave your balls because of risk of ingrown hairs
3. Do no use products such as lotions on your balls because you may clog the pore. Clog Pores lead to cysts.
4. Go see a urologist - Do not waste time with a mediocre dermatologist. Urologist are actually real doctors that go to real med school. There are many dermatologist and few urologist. Why do you think that is. Its easier to become a dermatologist.
5. Do not try and remove them yourself. Could you imagine getting an infection down there and losing your balls or worse everything.
6. Wash yourself thoroughly down there to make sure you clear your pores.
I know how embarrassing it is to deal with this problem and I know what it is like for a woman to make you feel bad about yourself because of this issue. Don't let it rule you. .. Be proactive .. Get them removed. If this post has helped you please let me know. Or if you have any questions feel free to reply. I will answer as I am still going through the recovery process

I have recently discovered scaley feeling small red bumps on my perineum. They can only really be seen when the skin is stretched. They do not itch or hurt, however if i scratch them they bleed. I am really worried that they may be a std! Or could they be Fordyce spots?
