View 3 RepliesIf you check the x ray (where i circled in red), I have a tooth decay because of wisdom teeth coming close to my last tooth. My options are to do a root canal on the decayed tooth and eventually get the wisdom tooth removed OR get the decayed tooth removed and let the wisdom teeth occupy its place.
And my wisdom teeth is partially erupted, so it is not out fully.
I have asked around for a few suggestions and everyone is suggesting to go for option 2 which is removed the decayed tooth and let wisdom tooth partially take its place.
Can anyone suggest if that is a good option. As you can see all my teeth are healthy and I just had bad luck with the wisdom tooth coming at an angle!
Diagnosed by dentist yesterday as abscess. Put on antibiotics. Given choice...root canal treatment @ £850 (Cannot afford) or extraction. Is this really necessary...will the antibiotics not clear up problem.
View 1 RepliesMy dentist took an x-ray of my mouth and found no sign of a tooth abscess, even though when she drilled the infected tooth (which had a filling), there was a foul smell, indicating an abscessed tooth.
There is also a swelling below my left jaw, and it is difficult to swallow and open my mouth.
The dentist didn't explain much regarding why the x-Ray didn't reflect the tooth abscess. When we asked about the swelling in my jaw, she answered (rather uncertainly) maybe, it was because of trauma?
I'm in head splitting agony with an abscess on my back tooth. went to dentist today and she told me I have to have to badly abscess teeth out. Was then given antibiotics and told to keep taking nurofen and paracetamol which do nothing. Why couldn't they do it now ? I won't be able to take the pain much longer.
View 8 RepliesLast week my tooth started to act up so I went to see my Dentist the very next day. I started on a Azithromycin that same day. My tooth still really hurt by Sat. so I called him and he told me to finish that up but also called in a rx for Clindamycin in case I still needed a antibiotic. My question is, has anyone taken that med for a abscess. I have done a lot a research on it and I think it's the last med I would take! I already suffer from acid reflux and this med is really harsh on the stomach. Would like to know if anyone has used it and what if any side effects? Forgot to mention, the abscess is not completely gone.
View 5 RepliesI've got terrible toothache under a crown on an upper back molar ... wonderful kind dentist has drilled through crown and "cleaned it out" and put me on 1,500 mg amoxicillin per day for 7 days - going back next week, hopefully for root canal. My problem is, I expected to feel BETTER after yesterday;s "clean out" of roots and starting antibiotics but awake half the night last night in terrible pain and felt far too ill to go to work. Pain is making me cry! Taking Nurofen "migraine strength" ibuprofen & lysine and oddly, swilling with boiling hot salt water provides relief even though I can feel throbbing. Has anyone been here? Can anyone tell me what to expect? I don't want to bother dentist if I dont have to as he's already been absolutely fantastic and I feel such a wimp ... but must try to get back to work.
View 9 RepliesI'm 20 years old, I suffered an abscess In October last year, it was the most painful experience of my life, I finally got a root canal in my tooth and I thought that was it all done, it's flared up again the other day started throbbing I knew straight away what it was, I went to the dentist today they took an x Ray and he even said it looked like it did before I had my last root canal, so was again infected, I've been put on antibiotics again until Tuesday but if it's not better I'm being referred to a Leeds specialist, can anyone tell me why it's come back so soon? I'm scared I suffered from this once before years again on the other side. What will happen now? I never want another one again and just want it sorted once and for all.
View 1 RepliesJust discovered I have both of these a couple months ago after noticing a lump in my gum. The cyst has been eating away at my jaw and has perforated it, I've had no pain, but will be getting surgery soon.
My question is what are the chances of the tooth infection contributing to my chronic fatigue? I have found a few only posts stating, infections can make you feel lousy, fatigued etc. But no real solid information or testimonials.
I'm taking clindamycin 300 mg every 6 hours and tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours (unless i'm a work it makes me sleepy) and the pain from my tooth abscess has gotten worse and now the swelling is spreading and my throat hurts. The pain from the tooth abscess has spread from the far left corner of my jaw to my ear and even under my chin. I can't see a dentist till next week and this is only getting worse. I already went to the er that is how i got these meds. The clindamycin is also making me very sick to my stomach. I ate some soup to take it last night and ended up hugging the trash can at my job for little over 20 min till nothing was left to come up. Please help this is getting out of control i can't even hardly help take care of my 2 month old baby because it hurts when she ends up touching the left side of my face!
View 2 RepliesRecently, I visited a dentist , and my teeth were cleaned. I was asked to be repeating that every six month. However, after the visit, a tooth became very sensitive to anything that touches it, whether hot or cold, or even ordinary water, a kind of pain sends me jumping.
I went back to the Dentist and he directed for an X-ray on the affected tooth. The X-ray showed a hole in between the teeth(an abscess). Some drugs were given to me( Amoxicillin 500mg; Flagyl 400mg; Cata? 50mg) which I have taken for some days. The pains are still there, and the dentist says the tooth will have to be removed, which I do not like at all! Instead, I have decided to to start brushing my teeth twice a day using Sensodyne toothpaste, and Listerine Mouthwash, twice a day. Doctor, will the alternative procedure that I have prescribed for myself eventually save me from the removal of the tooth, which I very much detest?
Had abscessed tooth on top under gold crown. At the same time bottom gums swelled and I was told that one of my back molars needed extracted. Had 3 teeth pulled. My gums are still swollen on bottom which all doctors say they look pink and healthy. I feel pressure in my jaw. I feel like I'm being strangled in my throat. Now I feel like I'm in a tunnel when I speak. All these symptoms came one after the other and I don't know what to do. I have had a CT scan, a scan of my jaw, and an MRI of my jaw. The doctors say they don't see an infection. I don't understand what is going on. What ever this is, it seems to be spreading. The last oral surgeon I saw said the symptoms may be due to different things but I don't think so. Has anyone had anything similar?
View 1 RepliesI had a small bit of root left in my gum so dentist did extraction today as an abscess showed up on x ray. I am keen to avoid antibiotics as they severely affect my other health issues. I can still feel the abscess ....will it start to come away naturally now the source of infection has gone ? How long will this take..I expected it to have gone once the tooth was removed.
View 5 RepliesI need some advice from someone who's had a tooth infection.
I just went to see a dentist today. He put me on antibiotics (amoxicillin), and gave me some painkillers (hydrocodone). I've been keeping up so far on taking my amoxicillin. But instead of the pain getting better, it feels like it got worse. The bottom of my face is sensitive, sore, swollen, and tender to touching and cold.
Before I got this stuff, I could lie down in an elevated position and fall asleep alright, but now if I lean back at all, pain comes rushing to my jaw and infected area, causing me to become alert and loose my progress on sleeping. I only feel comfort when sitting straight up or standing, I'm at a loss.
Is this normal? Does it get better from here and just an unfortunate first night symptom?
I recently had a fractured tooth extracted. I had previously had a root canal and crown on the same tooth. After the extraction, a bone graft was done. We are in the process of waiting to get the implant done. Today, however, I noticed a little mound in the space where the tooth was extracted. I popped it and the liquid was consistent with previous abscesses I had. I immediately cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and water. Seems like these pop up a little bit more when I have sinus issues. My question is whether not I should wait a little longer before getting the implant. Do I also need to go back to my oral surgeon and let him know? Not sure if this is normal or not.
View 1 RepliesI've recently undergone a circumcision and have some queries however the surgeon who performed the surgery is on annual leave for a week. A few days after the procedure I noticed something wasn't quite right so I went to ED and as suspected had an infection. Would the fact that I had an infection mean that it could heal slower/incorrectly. I ask as one side of the stitches seems to be a little stretched and not sitting as tight as the other side. I was also prescribed oral antibiotics as well as an antibiotic cream by the ED doctor. I was told to take the oral antibiotics for 5 days but was given enough for 10 days by the pharmacist. Would there be any harm in taking the antibiotics for the full 10 days?
View 1 RepliesI had 4 Wisdom teeth extracted on 12/3/2012. I initially went to get one tooth extracted due to the impacted tooth causing pain. The oral surgeon talked me into getting 4 extracted (I wasn't even aware that I had them as they caused no issues)
I am on day 11 currently and I am in SO. MUCH. PAIN. I have been experiencing pain since about day 5. I had a follow up on 12/10/2012. The oral surgeon looked in my mouth for all of 2 minutes, told me that everything looked fine, and that basically showed me the door. I asked him questions about all of the pain was having and he advised me that I probably clench my teeth when I sleep. I told him I don't really sleep because of the pain, and he didn't really say anything...The only extraction site that hurts is the one that the problem tooth was extracted from. The pain actually resembles the same pain I experienced before getting the tooth extracted.I have a very high pain threshold, but I can't knock this. I take two ibuprofen every 8 hours and It still leaves me basically paralyzed to the point I want to lay in my bed in Fetal Position. Could it be possible that surgeon slacked off on the check up and missed something? Warm water rinses leave me in discomfort. Using the syringe is critical, as food gets stuck in my sockets. When I use it, there is nothing that can stop the intense radiating pain that I feel for the next 30 minutes of my life. I have even tried not using so much pressure while irrigating with the syringe. What should I do?
I had a lower molar extracted 9 days ago & was wondering if spicy foods can dissolve the blood clot & result in dry socket? I obsessively check the extraction site & the clot is still there (even though it doesn't look as dark but maybe that's my paranoia) & if you do get dry socket does the pain happen right away or take a day or 2 before the pain starts? I ate BBQ chicken that was a little spicy & was worried I might dissolve the clot. I rinsed with salt water immediately after but have been getting occasional pings of pain since about day 5 but just discomfort & a few times the discomfort went to my ear but it didn't last long. How long does it take till the hole completely closes up? HELP! I'm so afraid the clot will dissolve during the night & it's the weekend! I've read that if you don't get dry socket by day 4 or 5 you're in the clear unless you poke @ the extraction site or something causes trauma to it is this true?
View 6 RepliesPlease tell me is my period flow normal. I used to get 5-6 day periods, heavy for 2 days, medium for 2 days, then light for 1-2 days until it tapered off and ended. It was this way even when I was on birth control.
For the past few months now, I have been getting 3-4 day periods, where the first day is really just some spotting indicating my period is going to be starting. The second day is my heavy day. The third day is medium light. The 4th day is light. I'm still on birth control. I am 30 years old now.
Also last month, my period color was dark brown and I also had some black colored clotting during my heavy day. I know some blood clots are normal during menstruation, I had them all my life. But this blood clot was black. Again this month on my heavy day, I had black colored clot. It was a dime size clot. Size was not large. Is black color clotting anything to worry about? I do not see red blood these past two periods like I am used to seeing. I am seeing mostly brown and/or black.
And how can I increase my menstrual flow. I am worried that my endometrium lining is thinning and can cause a problem when I do try for children.
For the past year i have had many strange symptoms in varying degrees, good days/bad days, good weeks/bad weeks.
Here is a list of my symptoms
Lack of energy, Extreme tiredness/fatigue,feeling faint (although never fainted),dizzy on and off but always dizzy up to a week before my period, one very bad period of 4 months vertigo. Jelly legs, shaky inside, feeling weak as though I've had the flu or something but I've not even had a cold this year.Palpitations, feeling detached, feeling like i'm about to loose consciousness (very odd feeling) the feeling you get just as you are about to go to sleep, Brain fog.Sensitive to light, eyes often become bloodshot. Headaches/migraine. Sometimes feel so cold inside & cannot seem to warm up.Periods of insomnia, bladder irritability especially in week before period, episodes of what i now call bladder fizz where bladder so irritable it feels like i have fizzy liquid in my bladder cannot sleep through this sensation sometimes accompanied by the feeling of a red hot needle going up the urethra (would be interested to know if anyone else gets this & any remedies please? A pain I get on either side low down about where pubic hair begins pain seems to radiate to back & sometimes down into the thigh on the side of where the pain begins, doesn't seem to coincide with ovulation & randomly happens (ibuprofen usually takes it off after a couple of hours) Bloating & times of excessive wind.Monthly cyst like spots on jaw line, hair sprouting on chin & upper lip (invested in a home laser scanner) Hair beginning to thin at temples.
Food cravings for something salty & chocolate particularly before period.
I am almost 53 so after reading forums on here have come to the conclusion that its menopause & not some mysterious illness, thought I might have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, just didn't realise there were so many different symptoms of menopause.
Last year I did have very bad night sweats & hot flushes but they have reduced greatly, I take vit 6, eat plenty of fresh fruit/veg/salads, chicken, fish, flax seeds/chia seeds.
I'm so pleased to have found this forum & to find i'm not the only one suffering through this and not going mad, hope this might help someone else.
i first saw signs of a dental abscess around three months ago, so made an appointment with my dentist, he then told me that 4 needed to come out, prescribed me antibiotics and then stated that a referral form would be in the post to undergo sedation to have them removed, 4 weeks later attended clinic for a consultation only, appointment made for a further 4 weeks away for work to be carried out, this last week has been hell i've not slept or eaten now for 4 days and spent the whole of sunday ringing numbers try and find an emergency treatment, even the NHS were no help, monday (today) contacted my dentist at 9:30AM for an emergency appointment, told they were 2 dentists down so no appointment could be given today, contacted the emergency NHS dentist and was basically told they would offer no help as i was booked in for work to be started at another practice to which is still 10 days away, is this what i've worked for all my life and paid into the national insurance, on sunday i was actually told by an out of hours NHS service that if i paid privately i would be seen to right away, unfortunately im not rich enough to have that privilege so here i suffer waiting another 10 days for treatment, i was taking paramol only to discover that paramol can actually increase the pain, so now im taking regular paracetamol and ibuprofen, this seems to be working
better but i still cant sleep or eat due to the pain, any advice that anyone knows of that i can use to get this sorted sooner than in 10 days would be great because as of yet the NHS has offered no help whatsoever or my dentist for that matter
