Thyroid :: Red Bumps And Skin Irritation With Hyperparathyroidism
Dec 24, 2015
I noticed before I had surgery I would have red, irritated and swollen bumps that would turn into nothing short of a raised mass on my inner thighs. It really hurt! After the surgery they all left. Well it's been since October 26th 2015 that I hadn't seen them until today. I have them again which leads me to believe that the hyperparathyroidism was not completely cured. They took one adenoma but left a complex nodule. I ask the surgeon to look at all of my parathyroid hormones and he flat out told me no. I'm concerned that when I go back to the doctor that my levels will be back up. If not then there is another issue I don't know about. However, I still believe my skin irritations are from nodule he refused to look at. I'm no doctor though. But if anybody is having this issue and still feels really weak in their muscles I could use some advise as to how I can help myself feel better. I still ache.

I have not had sex for two months. I had never had any sort of symptoms/irritation before (apart from one yeast infection years ago) but a couple weeks ago I began to notice a burning sensation in my vulva. There are no bumps, no foul smell, and normal discharge. But I have a constant burning and sometimes itching feeling, it is also very red. I tried using monistat soothing cream to aid the burning feeling, but it only made it worse.

I've been HSV1+ (oral) for 20 years. Several months ago I had unprotected intercourse with a woman 3 times. Within 2 days, maybe sooner, I felt irritated on the shaft of my penis and the irritation and redness have been almost constant for 6 months. I've had 2 IgG tests at 3 weeks and 6 months, both were HSV1+ and HSV2 neg. All other STD tests were negative. 4 dermatologists didn't think much of it but one thinks it could be a herpetic neuralgia causing the issue. Never had an issue before the intercourse with this woman and issue happened immediately after and I'm not one for coincidences. I've tried all types of creams and have been on valtrex for months with no improvement of symptoms. I've also had urinary incontinence - leaking, which started one month after skin irritation began. Any thoughts??

I was diagnosed with this some years ago after suffering for years with kidney stones, they did try and remove my parathyroid glands but couldn't find them, mine aren't where they should be and further tests have come up blank as to where they might be in my body (looking for a needle in a haystack was the term used!) I take Bendroflumethiazide (sp) alternate days to alter the acid in my urine. I'm constantly tired and fed up being told i need to watch my weight and i should exercise more, i'd love to exercise more but some days it's all i can do to get my head off the pillow. I could go on and on here just wanted to know if there was any sufferers out there and wondered how they cope with this condition?

I have Hashimoto's disease. Over the last year or so I have really started to experience some of the symptoms of hyperparathyroidism such as super bad fatigue, LOTS of pain in my bones, etc. Are the two connected?

I just wondered if anyone has any idea how common it is to have primary hyperparathyroidism?

I've been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism on Thursday 5th of November, I was wondering if anybody has had natural treatment for this please?
In the meantime I'm going ahead with being put on the waiting list for an operation, I have my ultrasound scan tomorrow, Tuesday the 24th of November .
It would be good to hear from those members who have used natural treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism and to find out how you are getting on now please ?
I have had "M.E. " for 19 years , I'm being treated naturally, this helps with my weight and also some of the other symptoms , however I'm still not well enough to work and need help at home etc

After a very painful kidney stone problem and thus being told I have Bilateral kidney stones; I have just been diagnosed with Primary hyperparathyroidism. The docs want to operate to remove the faulty gland(s) but I am very concerned about the procedure in the UK which does not seem to include the mini op or MIRP operation. Has anyone had this type of surgery in UK(either mini or other) and what were your experiences? I am wondering if I should travel to Florida for it?? I also have low vit D and they want me to take vit d supplements. I think this is dangerous to elevate my calcium level even more?

I have recently been diagnosed as having hyperparathyroidism and I am currently on the waiting list to have two nodules removed. On reading up on the condition sickness is a symptom but for some reason my consultant wouldn't say that my continued sickness for the last 18 months is being caused by my overactive glands. I am getting desperate now so is there anyone on the Forum who is suffering / suffered the same problem and after having the op felt human again ?.

About a year ago I noticed raised areas, like blisters under skin on the Palms of my hands(red), some pin head size others small nail head size some of the larger ones form a blister well under the skin...painful to touch. The others ones are just itchy, drive you nuts itchy. A doctor checked on Vasculitis and they think it is that...I seem to think there is a bacterial inflammation in my blood. Has anyone heard of this? I take Zyrtec 1 daily and if I miss two days the bumps come on me with a vengeance. A biopsy was done at the site of a bump and prevalent of Neutrophils. I had a corticosteroid shot for another ailment and it worked miracles on my vasculitis. Does anyone know of other diseases that I should check into. and will a full body pet scan reveal the source of this stuff.

Over the last few days I have developed tiny bumps under the skin of my fingertips and a few places on my palms. Both hands are involved and almost all the fingers. They do not hurt unless touched. It almost feels like I have a sliver of glass in the spot. I have had these before but only a few and they went away within a day or two. The ones I have now have been present for a week and it seems more are coming. What is going on?

I periodically suffer from dry skin on the forehead and cheeks, and now is another stint. It is far worse than anything I have ever seen this time though, with skin actually flaking off and being very visibly dry, and only on the forehead not on the cheeks as well. In addition, I have red bumps on my forehead that look unlike any pimples I have ever had. This has been going on for perhaps a week now. I have no idea what is causing this and really want it to go away.

Sunday I started feeling pretty sick. Sore throat, chills, mild fever around 100. Monday I still felt pretty bad so I took the day off from work. Today I felt much better still have a sore throat a little but I noticed when I was at work I have these red bumps on the palms of my hands. They are under the skin but some of them look like tiny blisters. Those are pretty sore. When I run my hands under water it looks like more seem to appear. Its really odd. I been putting some cortisone cream on my hands but the bumps that look like blisters are pretty sore. I just moved here like 3 weeks ago so I don't have a dr yet. I was thinking about going to a clinic if it doesn't get better soon. Its not spreading just the palms of my hands. Any idea if this is just some weird virus??Edit,I was just taking my daughter to bed and noticed my foot felt odd.Looked on the bottom and i noticed one bump near my toe on the bottom of my foot.It feels like im walking on a blister yet its not a blister.

Any idea what the bumps are?
She has had the tattoo around 2.5 years and she's unsure how long the bumps have been there.
They're not painful or itchy.

I'm 15 and I've noticed tiny bumps when my penis is erect and I'm worried, you have to look closely to see them when it's flaccid but not when erect, I masturbate almost everyday once or twice a day, sometimes more. I'm very worried it could be an STD, they don't hurt or itch and only turn pinkish red when I masturbate, there only on the upper shaft and I'm circumcised. I'm a virgin but I've come In contact with girls before just not sex.

For the past month, I have had this purple bump on my waistline that itches. It will break open and then come back. Yesterday, while at work it felt sore, so I went to the bathroom to take a look. It turns out I now have several of these bumps on the front of my waist (around where my belt line is) and little black dots that almost look like blackheads. Last night I put rubbing alcohol on one of them and it immediately burst open. Today, they are sore and itch.
I also suffer from keloid scars on my chest and back because of severe acne in my junior high days. I am wondering if this is just acne acting up again or something more severe. The use of google suggested eczema or scabies.

I 'm a 16 year old girl and for the past 2 months or so i've been getting these strange bumps on the backs of my legs. at first they started out as no big deal on the back of my right thigh. i can't remember how itchy or painful they were at first, but i occasionally put cooling cortisone gel on them. they started to get a little worse and since it's summer, they would become more visible since i was wearing shorts, so i started to make sure i scrubbed the back of my thigh with body wash and i used an acne scrub on it. i only did this on my right leg, since my left leg seemed to be fine. soon, it spread to my left leg, but still not as bad as the right. and now it occasionally pops up on the front of my thighs. i don't think it's contagious really, because it hasn't spread to anywhere on my body besides my thighs. the bumps are really strange too. they start out itchy, but they don't constantly itch (once they start, they itch like crazy though. like if you itch a bug bite once, you can't stop itching it) then they turn sort of pimple like. they feel like a pimple that you know is going to be big, like there's a lot of pus under the surface of the bump. they get a tiny white head at one point, but never actually pop except a teeny tiny amount of liquid. some bumps are much bigger than others and some leave a scar for a while before finally going away. i haven't found anything that stops them from popping up, but sometimes they'll go away completely for a couple of days, then they always end up coming back. tonight i think it's the worst they've ever been. my legs look disgusting and i'm embarrassed to wear shorts in public. i plan on going to the doctor soon, but every time i've made an appointment before, they're cleared up right before i go. has anyone else had this problem? i cannot find anything that can help it and i've tried a lot. i really don't think it could be bed bugs or flea bites or anything, because it doesn't show up anywhere besides my thighs.

I have hard, painless skin-colored, bumps on the shaft of my penis. Two looks like it's raised, the other one is much smaller. I shaved frequently down their but they don't hurt at all no matter how hard I squeeze them. I had them for about a couple of months. Yesterday I noticed I have developed a "pimple" near the same area, and it irritates slightly when I apply pressure.

My penis started hurting at the bottom of the head, then it started itching like mad after a day. I itched it real hard. The next day my inner thighs started itching and it has spread to a couple itch bumps on my stomach, many on my waist area / lower abdomen. I tried to refrain from itching intensely.I've done a buttload of research, eczema is all I've found to fit so far. It doesn't seem to be mites/bed bugs/scabies/chiggers. Jock itch doesn't fit. Neither does yeast infection, or any other fungal/bacterial infection. My penis has become less itchy but more try. The skin on the head is flaking. I've been using ice cubes to temporarily relieve the itch but it's not too much help. My sleep is becoming very disturbed.

i am a 19 year old asian male. I have developed LOTS of different kinds of skin problems. But about 3 months ago, i started getting itchy legs, I started scratching and developed patches on my legs that have small red dots. i also developed some sort of raised rash on my face (under my eyes, cheeks, and eyebrows). I have similar raised rashes as the one on my face on the back of my neck, and the crease of my leg (behind my knee). I also recently started to develop red dots all over my lower stomach, upper legs and thighs. they almost seem like an allergic reaction, but I haven't really done anything different than i normally would. I occasionally get a rash on my armpit. I will not wear deodorant when i have this, and it will eventually go away, but as soon as it goes away the other armpit tends to develop the same thing. I also have small bumps all over my elbows and part of my arms. THey feel extremely rough. If you were to rub it, you would think you were touching some sort of lizard. Also, my butt cheeks have been getting itchy and it leads all the way to my scrotum. The itch on my scrotum isn't unbearable
WIth all these different kinds of rashes last week, all the affected areas on my buddy (even though, they are different kinds of rashes) started to puss a yellow honey like liquid. I kept wiping it off, but when i woke up the next morning, they had turned into something similar to a scab. some of them peeled off, and i had a shiny smooth skin under it.
I don't' know what's going on. All i know is that im tired of itching, and not being able to sleep at night. THIs has been effecting my daily life very badly. I would like to see a dermatologist, but I do not have health insurance. If there is anyone that has any of the same kind of problems, or have any form of help, it would be appreciated sooooo much.
