Thyroid Disorders :: Leg Foot And Toe Cramps
Aug 27, 2014
i have my lab results, and the same goes for me my dr. changed my prescription from .5 to .75, i think .75 is to strong for me so i talked him into me alternating .5 one day and .75 the next. i did this for 60 days and felt pretty good, i had leg cramps but not as severe as now. i am back up to .75 because of my lab test showing me to have very high numbers. its pretty much just my right leg cramping , you can actually see the muscle tighten up starting at my lower calve and climb right up yo my knee. my foot contorts and stays like that for a few minutes , its unbelievably painful. what should i change, I'm willing to do anything .

Well, after a year and a half on Erfa Thyroid, I had to switch back to Synthroid because the heart pounding at night on the Erfa just kept getting worse and worse.
Of course, with the Synthroid I'm now back to having severe foot cramps all night; by that I mean that my foot twists around on the ankle and I have to stand up and push my foot down to get it to go back into position. Sometimes it's both feet at once. Try sleeping with that going on!
Not sure which side effect is worse, and I feel as though I can't win, since neither medication allows me to sleep.
My doctor doesn't believe that switching back to Synthroid would result in foot cramps and won't offer any help. When I was on Synthroid previously my old GP game me quinine sulphate, which keep the cramps down to once or twice a week, but this one won't prescribe it.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? I take lots of calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D, and B vitamins, so I should be okay on that score.

I'm having a lot of pain on the outside bottom of my left foot. It came on pretty suddenly and has gotten worse over the past three days. It's not that swollen, but I do have very poor circulation to my hands and feet. I now have some bruising on ankle and shin that are specific to the areas that start feeling pain when it really starts hurting. In the morning it feels better but it only takes a little bit of walking for all the pain to come back.

I've suffered from these for years. When I told the GP he prescribed 200mg quinine sulphate but I still had cramps - albeit fewer. so he prescribed 300mg tablets. I still get the cramps, perhaps not as frequently but it's quite distressing.
Leg cramps can be eased by standing on the leg and stretching it. Foot on the leg and stretching it. Foot cramps are quite different, my foot turns inwards and my toes turn position. Nothing but time can resolve it, my husband watches in amazement, as do I. It's quite painful.
A son says that lack of salt can cause cramps, might this be so? We have very low sodium chloride intake.

its great to know i'm not going mad thinking i'm unique in this - i get cramp in my toes every single time i go to bed, if i dont try to nip it in the bud within a few minutes it moves to the rest of my foot and then to my calf muscle, i am wondering if i have a circulation problem, i did have Quinine for this and to be honest i noticed a reduction in the amount of times per week i got it then my husband said try an Aspirin which i did and noticed an aspirin in the morning then one at night reduced it even more than the quinine but, after a month of doing this, my cramps have increased to every night again whether i take aspirin or quinine, i am thin, relatively healthy but i am not a drinker of water so wonder if i should try that one next and maybe get hold of some concentrated Magnesium Citrate, i'll do anything to stop this, i even get it come on when driving and putting my foot on the gas pedal occasionally.

Throughout the past weekend I had begun getting abdominal cramps & becoming rather gassy. Yet, I thought nothing of the cramps, believing they just had something to do with my period then. On Saturday night, I had woken up with diarrhea accident & went to the bathroom only to have more yellow very watery stool. I tried to go back to bed, but it just happened again & worse. Sunday I slept in all day, and by the evening I had lost much of my appetite and ate just fruits, yogurt, cheese hotdogs & water. Monday I was relatively fine, I was more sluggish & tired than usual and didn't have an appetite. That whole day I only ate string cheese, salami pieces, butter on toast & ribs. I also drank a bit of milk. I realized that this milk was expired by a day only after I drunken it. I drank allot of milk on Saturday so that may be the issue. Thus, I drank a few glasses of another (non expired) milk carton. While I thought it was gone, it proved me wrong. Last night the same thing happen, yet not as bad.
Could this be due to the expired milk? Could I be lactose intolerant?

For the past month I've experienced stomach problems. It started with diarrhea and severe cramps that caused bleeding(I'm assuming hemorrhoids). So I went to the hospital and they said they think it's diverticulitis but never got back to me but sent me home with antibiotics. Its been a few weeks and the pain is awful and it is effecting my life and work. It happens whenever I eat or lift things. I can't sleep right now because the pain. Luckily I only have diarrhea sometimes now but still I feel weak and the stomach pain is too much.

On Sunday night my left leg started aching and I could barely walk because it hurt so much, also my hip hurt at the same time and my lower back on the left side, I stayed home from school for two days and then tried going there but that made the pain worse so both my legs started aching, it kind of felt like constant small cramps that sometimes got more intense, in my left leg it's my thigh and knee mainly and in my left leg my shin, I had to go home because the pain distracted me from being able to work.It later got a bit better but at night I had more intense cramps in my lower legs and feet.Today i've been pretty well, went to school again and now only my left leg is aching but not as much and mainly when I put weight on it but about an hour ago the left side of my face started to feel strange, I can't really explain it..but maybe a bit strained and also it burns, my jaw feels weird too.My parents says that I should not worry because I don't have any fever at all but I still want to know what the symptoms might be? I am going to see a doctor asap but there's no idea doing it now since I don't have a fever they won't take me seriously.Let me also add that I do not exercise and I sit behind my computer a lot, so it can't be some kind of injury.

My right foot has been having hot flashes and I been having shooting pain in my heel that I think is bone spurs, I've had the spurs for about a month but hot flashes just started. I work as a cashier so I'm on my feet all day. I'm worried it may be a blood clot but I have no swelling or redness. I'm a 52 year old female.

Also my calcium was high at 10.6 mg/dL and reference range from 8.6-10.2
Free T3- 4.3 ph/mL reference range from 2.3-4.2 , slightly elevated.
T-4, free- 1.5 B&G/dL reference range from 0.8-1.8
My main question is what is the tsh 3rd generation with reflex to ft4?

I am a 17 year old male and I have a severe hgh deficiency. I was diagnosed when I was 12 and have been put on a shot for the past 5 years and it has helped a ton. I used to have a very small head because I was hgh deficient and even now I feel it is small. The circumference of my head is 21.6 inches and according to Google that's below average. I really hope it doesn't look small but I feel like no one will give me an honest answer. I am still on the shot and will be for 3-6 months. If my doctor sees no growth next visit he will take me off it. I see my doctor every 3 months for a checkup to see how much I've grown and stuff. After I am done with the shot I have to see my doctor a month after to see if I make enough hgh without the shot or I will get osteoporosis, but I want to know if my head will still grow to the average size which is 22 inches around according to Google even without the shot. Also my head has grown a ton in the past 6 months. In the best 6 months my hats have increased in size. Please help me. If you need to know im 5'9" also I take the hgh shot 6 days a week.

I've been on Synthroid medication for 20 plus years and have done pretty well on it until recently. This routine test showed a TSH level > 100 and my Free T4 at .24 which is low. I've been placed on Synthroid at 300 mg and I'm waiting to see a specialist. In the meantime, I'm wondering what does this means?

I just received my latest thyroid lab results and my TSH was a 0.06 (range 0.34-5.60) and my T4 FREE is 0.99 (range of 0.61-1.12). My Dr said to continue my dosage of medications and we would recheck in a year. Should I be concerned

I've had Hashimoto's Disease for 12 years and started taking Levothyroxine. For the past 8 years, I've been on a constant dose, and been very happy with no symptoms of hyper or hypo. Recently I moved and had to go to a new dr, who is very upset about the low (almost zero) TSH even though my Free T3 and Free T4 were normal. She wants me to totally go off all Levothyroxine for 6-8 weeks to "reset" my pituitary. I am very worried about what will happen to me if I did this. I tried going down in dosage, but all my hypo symptoms (gained 10 lbs in a month, extreme lethargy, depression, etc.) returned. Anyone out there have any ideas on what to do?

I have had choking feeling for the last 2 months. It is now almost everyday. I sleep very well and do not wake up with it. I start getting it by the afternoon until bedtime. It is really bothering me. I have had hypothyroidism for 12 years but my tests are fine and my ultra sound is good too. The ENT doctor says it is stress related but I think there is more to it than stress. It is really bothering me and I do not know what to do?

Over the past one-two years I have been getting stressed about school work, my appearance, my friends etc. and I had a conversation with some of my friends and they thought I may have had anxiety. I thought nothing of it because it wasn't much at the time but lately it's been getting worse. I feel sick all the time and the most common thing is the choking part. I feel like someone is trying to choke me, but obviously no one is. I have trouble breathing when this happens and my throat closes up and I kind of feel a bit dizzy. I have looked at some websites and they all say it may be a certain infection or something but I want to know if this has anything to do with anxiety? I still have not told anyone about the choking thing except my mum because I want to be sure I am getting this right before I start seeking help.

I have an important question.
My last blood work from one mouth ago revealed a TSH of - 0.16. (ranges 0.3-4.5)
Though my levels of free T3 & T4 were midrange and maybe even slightly lower than they should be.
FT3: 3.30 (ranges 2.1-4.2)
FT4: 1.02 (ranges 0.7-1.8)
I'm on 112,5 levothyroxine and 12,5 cytomel daily dose.
Is it safe to have a TSH that low?
Can I even upgrade my meds to 125 levo a day? I still feel hypo and under medicated.
I did hear about the 'optimal' values between the ranges were a lot of people are on their best in their 'sweet spots'.
If the rule of thumb is that FT4 has to be 50% of the range and FT3 upper half to upper third, i's logical that I'm still hypo. This all being said, will my TSH drop even more when I go to 125?
I don't understand the link between TSH and the FT3 & FT4 results. How can I have such a low TSH and still not reach the recommended levels?
