View 1 RepliesHusband having trouble breathing, especially when lying down, lots of gagging, and trouble swallowing. Been to the doctor several times. Elevated white count, enlarged lymph node in neck, one with black spot. Still 3 weeks until we see the ENT specialist. What can I do to help him while we wait 3 weeks to see a specialist?

20 yrs old I smoke a lot of weed. But have never had problems before now all of a sudden I have to take in deep breaths or yawn to get enough air. I haven't ever had breathing problems before and I don't know what it could be I've read a lot about stress and really can't think of anything that could have stressed me out and caused this.
View 1 RepliesDoes anyone have speech therapy for multiple sclerosis for swallowing or breathing?
View 7 RepliesAre these symptoms of throat cancer? please help! have difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, weight loss, cough out blood , have dark-brown mucus, been smoking for years....
View 1 RepliesI've been diagnosed by my doctor three weeks ago. going to a specialist on the 22nd of this month. Just want to know what happens now? It's going on three years having trouble breathing. They said i had asthma.
View 13 RepliesI was initially diagnosed with LPR for my symptoms, which were constant post nasal drip, hoarse voice, and a click when I swallowed. I have since figured out it wasn't LPR at all, and that all the protocols for LPR only make things worse.
I came here to hopefully help others who may have been told they have LPR when really, they have something else.
The symptoms of LPR are exactly the same as the symptoms of nutritional deficiencies of B vitamins, vitamin A, and iron.
In particular, a riboflavin deficiency will dry out the soft tissues of your throat so that you feel every tiny drip of what is actually normal mucus. Riboflavin is a B vitamin that is not stored in the body and you must eat it every day. Dairy products, something many of us with mucus are told to avoid, are very high in riboflavin, and one of the best sources. Stress, illness and certain chronic conditions can increase the body's requirements for riboflavin, causing deficiency symptoms, like a dry, post nasal drip in the throat. (In my case, I became deficient due to an undiscovered thyroid issue. When the thyroid is not functioning properly, you do not metabolize riboflavin.) Mild riboflavin deficiency will also cause dry, itchy or burning feeling of the eyes.
Other B vitamins which affect the throat are niacin and folate. Iron deficiency causes tongue and throat swelling and can even cause webbing of the esophagus. Vitamin A and zinc also affect the mouth, tongue and throat. Iodine is essential for the salivary glands.
Certain health issues can affect the metabolism of nutrients. You can be deficient even though you get plenty of it in your diet. Your genetics, your diet, and your current health conditions all affect your nutritional status.
Proton pump inhibitors and acid reducers can make things worse by reducing your absorption of nutrients.
If you want to try some vitamins to see if they will help, start with the water soluble B vitamins. I recommend taking coenzymated sublinguals which melt under your tongue, so that you don't have to worry about whether you are digesting and metabolizing them properly.
Anybody else feel like at times you have trouble breathing? Im almost 32 weeks. Im guessing its just the baby getting big making me feel this way.
View 5 RepliesHi ladies lately i have been having a lot of breathing problems I am always shortness of breath even when just laying around. I am 16 weeks and not even really showing is this something normal or should I be worried
View 4 RepliesThe other day, I checked myself into the hospital because I was having difficulties breathing and a slight chest pain. The doctors ran a plethora of tests, including an EKG, MRI, and X-Rays. All of the tests, according to the doctor, came back "100% normal". The ER staff said there were no signs of anything serious and it should pass. Perhaps it's a muscle being weird or something?
The chest pain is mostly gone but breathing is still a challenge. It's difficult to take a FULL breath. No coughing. No wheezing. Anybody ever experienced this? The other day I went to the grocery store and I was winded afterwards. It does not seem right.
I'm going to see the doctor for a follow up on Monday, and I'm monitoring the situation closely. Are there breathing tests they can have me do? It seems like cardiac-wise everything is fine, but something is still up. I know to go to the ER if it gets too bad, but I'm curious if anybody has seen / heard / experienced something like this.
Anyone having trouble breathing?. Every Night when I get into bed I began to have trouble breathing even with pillows under my head or body , I just can't seem to position right and have a hard time breathing.
View 1 RepliesI'm 33 weeks and I'm having so much trouble breathing and sleeping is anyone having this problem or had this problem ??
View 5 RepliesFor about 4 months now, I've been having trouble breathing at work. it started out as 15 minutes to a maximum 1hour. I'm thinking it came around the same time the air conditioning came on at work. Now it can start before my lunch(noon) and go on till I'm home(5:20pm). Which gives me 20 minutes of not being at the office and I can now breath normal that I'm out of the office.
View 1 RepliesFor the last few days its very difficult for me to take a deep breath, or to feel like I have enough air going into my lungs. I'll try to breathe deep and it's like I just can't reach that point. I feel like I'm breathing fine but I could be taking in more air. When I'm laying in bed I can take breaths better if I'm sitting up. It's really aggravating and hard not to notice. It's been staying this way since yesterday and today, other times it was just an off and on type of thing. Another thing I noticed was if I gently press on my chest I feel a slight pain, maybe like pressure, or sensitivity. I don't know what to do about this, and it's really scaring me. I can't imagine having something wrong with me.
View 4 RepliesI'm 19 years old, female. I think I have anxiety.. Mostly about my health. I'm always freakish out thinking I have cancer or something serious, I make myself think I have something wrong with me.. A few months ago I was sick and I could have gotten better sooner if I didn't worry so much, it took me a month to get better because I kept telling myself I was too sick and I wasn't getting better but once I stopped thinking about it, I got better. Also with my tonsils I always think they're gonna be swollen so they are when I think that. But my worst issue is breathing.. I always feel like I have trouble breathing even when I'm not having an anxiety attack just randomly I'll feel like I'm breathing shallowly or just not getting enough air and when I REALLY think about it I start hyperventilating and almost pass out until I call someone and they tell me to calm down. When I have anxiety attacks I get all shaky, I get dizzy, pale, feel like I'm going to pass out and have really shallow breaths.. Idk what's wrong with me I think it's from my past or because I'm always so stressed out about my family. I also I have a problem going to the bathroom.. Tmi sorry but I can't poop anymore I'm always constipated and it always comes out in balls or logs but lumpy, I really don't know what's wrong with me so if someone could help that'd be amazing. Also, when I was at the ER months ago they checked my lungs and everything and said everything's fine, just said I have low potassium, idek why but when I was sick I didn't eat for a week so maybe that's why?
View 2 RepliesI can't get a full deep breath after ejaculation and become winded very quickly during exercise thereon after. It generally takes two or three days to recover. I am otherwise in very good shape (23 yr old male) and normally experience no problems during/after intense exercise. It's gotten to the point where I avoid ejaculating during sex because of how much it messes up my breathing during future exercise. Is this normal? If not, any idea what's up?
View 5 RepliesSo, I had bad wheezing after a cold from last winter. A regular doc prescribed me Symbicort. I had been taken it regularly, but recently my wheezing went away, so I stopped taking the Symbicort just to see what would happen with my wheezing.
The wheezing has gradually died down, but now I have trouble breathing at certain times during the day especially at night around 8 o'clock and on. I can't tell if the wheezing going away is a good thing or a bad thing. Also, sometimes, I also feel a murmuring sensation in my upper chest when inhaling.
The biggest thing is when I inhale I don't feel like I'm getting enough air. I want to go to a pulmonologist, but it looks like it might be a while before I'll get in. I have a few doses left of my Symbicort and want to save them.
I'm uncomfortable going to sleep and I'm also nervous about things like the "silent chest" since my wheezing has really died down. It's also really humid where I am right now, so I don't know if that's factoring into my trouble breathing. Lastly, I also have had panic attacks in the past, so I'm always hesitant to go to the doctor over things like feeling like I'm not getting enough air.
How can I tell the difference between a panic attack and asthma?
Do you think it's asthma? Why does it seem to happen from 8 o'clock at night and up? What can I do so I can sleep?
A little less than a month ago now I moved from Florida to high in the Rocky Mountains. I didn't have any unusual trouble with the altitude change at first but about 5 days ago I've suddenly had a lot of trouble with my breathing. I feel like I'm not getting enough air into my lungs, especially when lying down (which makes trying to go to sleep a huge pain). I was actually just trying to sleep a few minutes ago but I couldn't stand it. It felt like I was being suffocated very, very slowly. Even now, typing this while sitting up straight, I still feel a little dizzy. Besides a slight cold there's nothing else wrong with me right now. I've actually always had very good health, and the only other time I've ever had any trouble at all with my lungs was when I got pneumonia when I was 13.
Besides the altitude, the only other thing I can think of is that I was prone to anxiety attacks in high school, and I have been pretty stressed lately, but besides the shortness of breath this just doesn't feel the same.
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I really need to get over this quickly because I need my sleep! My new job is physically demanding enough without being tired all the time
Over the years I have been having issues breathing as well as chest pains and a host of other symptoms. I was diagnosed with another condition however recently doctor's at discovered that I indeed have Chiari Malformation 1 and not what I was previously diagnosed with. The past two days my breathing have been terrible, I feel as though I am struggling to breathing, which makes me light headed. I also find that I have to take deep breath in-between speaking. I also have been having mental lapse as well. Is this normal with Chiari?
View 1 RepliesI am 16 years old and have been experiencing my latest (and worst yet) bout of tonsillitis for the past 4-5 days. I have been taking soluble aspirin and paracetamol, and today my GP prescribed me some soluble penicillin antibiotics to help fight it off. However, I am experiencing lots of thick green mucus in my throat and a yellow-greenish coating of mucus on my tongue that just will not go away no matter how many times I spit it out. The mucus is causing many difficulties for me in terms of swallowing food and drink, as (with drinks) either I swallow some of the mucus with the fluid or the drink mixes with the mucus and ends up stuck in my throat.
I am going on holiday to Egypt for a week on the 26th June so I really need to get this cleared up before then! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can alleviate the pain and get rid of all this mucus?
