Threadworms? Black Strings In My Stools - Worms
Nov 19, 2014
For several months I have been experiencing digestive problems such as excessive burping, trapped wind, constipation, reflux and a lot of undigested food in my stools, even though I have stopped eating gluten, dairy, seeds and nuts. I have also recently been diagnosed with iron deficiency and have also been experiencing sinus congestion, excessive mucus in my throat and anxiety. On the advice of a naturopath over the last few days I have been taking magnesium-oxide as a colon cleanse of sorts. Today in my stools and on the toilet paper I noticed quite a few black string looking things, they were quite thin like a piece of thread and were not moving. The smallest were 0.5 cm and one or two were maybe 1.5 cm. Am I right in thinking these must be some sort worm? Could they be thread worms even though they're black and I have no itching? Any suggestions? Would it be inappropriate to take some into my doctor to what they are? I travelled to South America last year so I guess I could have picked something up there.

I'm an 18 year old female and i'm not sure if I have threadworms or not. I first had them when I was 15. Don't know how or why because i'm a pretty clean person. A few years past and then two months ago I somehow contracted them again. So I went to the doctors got tablets did the ritual of deep cleaning my bedroom, changing bed sheets everyday and washing at least 3-4 times of day (because it makes me feel horrible knowing I have them) Everything was fine and then about, 3 weeks ago I got this terrible itch once again. I had some tablets left over from the last time so I took my first and nothing improve and i've taken the second literally half an hour ago.
What i'm confused about is, i've never actually seen these pesky things this time around because you can usually see them in your faeces etc. and i've also checked and seen nothing in that region. (sorry for the tmi.) I don't know, if it's just physiological and nothing's actually there? Because I have anxiety disorder and have for many years now.

Been back and forth to the doctor for the past 6 month trying to find what is causing all of the abdominal issues I'm having.
Doctor has given me a working diagnosis of IBS with reflux and hemorrhoids (as i pass blood, sometimes frequently and then sometimes it can stop for weeks at a time).
I've requested that he refers me to the gastroenterologist as I'm not satisfied with his diagnosis for a couple of reasons.
The main reason is that when i pass blood, it isn't always bright red ... sometimes it is darker ... it's never really dark or black, but it's just simple a medium shade of red ... can internal hemorrhoids cause this color of blood on the stool? (There is never a lot and Its never mixed in with the stool, it usually either streaks the outside of the stool or is mixed in with mucus at the start of my bowel movement).
It's the darker colour of the blood that makes me think it's coming from further up the digestive tract though which makes me think it's not hems.

It all started a few months ago when I noticed blood on my toilet paper. It was just a few spots. Then I started to notice these random red lines and also orange lines on my toilet paper. Then ii also started to notice these black specks and spots on my toilet paper. That was two months ago and these symptoms are still concurrent. Lately though I find that my bowel activities are strange. Ive been having to a lot more lately, Diarrhea, Constipation diarrhea.
And also last week my poop was completely green, and this morning my stool has these weird yellow round things in it. I know it wasn't corn as I haven't eaten that in a few months. The blood is usually bright red and sometimes its more of a dark maroon color. A few months ago I also had a weird a cold that made me have blood in my throat when i would clear my throat but it went away. I have also had shortness of breath and abdominal pains once in awhile.
I went to the doctor and they said that they will send me for a ultrasound but what are chances that this cancer?
I'm going to list all my symptoms.:
Blood on toilet paper once in a while. (Brighjt red and sometimes dark maroon...)
Black Specks/Spots on toilet paper once in a while.
Orange little lines, and also little red lines on toilet paper...
Frequent diarrhea/Runny stool.
Green Stool all day yesterday.
Today = Stool has yellow round things in it, looks like corn.
Abdominal pain sometimes,
Shortness of breath
Fatigue a lot of the time
Blood when clearing throat a few months ago but it never happened again.
I also went for a blood test when i had shortness of breathe a few months ago and they din't find anything.
Is it colon cancer?

It may be now that you are free of the actual worms that you are suffering from delusional parasitosis. I have read of many cases where the person suffers all the irritation but they do not have the worms.
It may be that you could benefit from some anti-depressants.
I have been taking them, and although my situation if not the same as yours, I have really benefited from the.
No sympathy from the doctor because the swabs came back negative, and he felt that I should be grateful for the result that the anti-depressants gave me.
I will however, in the future when I have given my body a rest from both medication and 'so called' herbal remedies, I will try again.
As you have stated no-one understand the constant itching and irritation, and they have little sympathy.

This weekend I discovered some worms in my stool which is a first as with my current problems I have been quite observant of my body over the months. I'm planning to go doctors this week when I can call up Monday.
I've been to the doctors a couple of times over the past few months with problems, which I can obviously point to my new discovery, however I was diagnosed with the usual stress etc. after my blood deficiency tests a month back came back normal. I still knew something was wrong because of the patterns. Before this discovery I was pin-pointing it food allergies / sensitivities as my symptoms seemed to peak after meals.
It started with a fever back at the start of February. The next week I was getting chronic nausea and headaches (seemed to be shortly after eating). I went to the doctors and reassured I was fine. I was getting a lot of small muscle twitching, nerve pain, general fatigue, especially after meals and anxiety. I cut gluten from my diet and noticed my symptoms seemed to drop by 90%, although my whole diet changed so it could of included over things. After that point I've been sensitive to some foods e.g. after having a banana or orange juice I will itch and have felt a lump in the back of my throat which I assume could of been contributing to my symptoms. The banana gave me noticeable chest pains, maybe cause bananas are a known laxative and I was annoying the worms!
I will also mention I have a few cats and sometimes interact with dogs. I can eat rare steak quite occasionally. I'm in the UK as well and haven't traveled for a while, last was Sri Lanka December 2014.
What worms do the <attached photo> look like? Sorry for the grossness. I figured pin worms or hook worms from what I read but I guess the symptoms are a big clue. I will have to get a stool sample I assume, but obviously want to be on the biotics as soon as possible so I can return to normal as the last couple of months have really impacted me.

I first had worms young and around a year later I felt exactly the same. I keep taking the medicine but after a while it comes back. Is this serious?

As a kid I think I was 11? I was once pooping and had wurms at some occurrence I even pood out something weird and round that at the time I was sure was an organ. The last thing I never knew really what it was. But as a kid I thought it was my kidney haha!
Anyway moving back to the wurms I have had some worms in my poo at that time. I never paid it attention and as I got older I kept checking but couldn't find any wurms! The thing is I don't know if this has healed itself or if the wurms are still active and if so what to do.
I read you can get some medication take that and after two weeks take it again (because of the eggs.) I also read putting petroleum jelly on the buttocks can kill the eggs. What should I do?
Let's say I have no wurms can it harm to take that certain medication? I am quite disgusted by it and my memory is not as good anymore I am almost 22 now. So I would like to put an end to the wurm infection if I should have one.
Can you have wurms? Even if they do not show up in your poop and can I then with 100% certainty say that I have wurms and what medication should I go for then?

I am really nervous. I am having my 1st routine colonoscopy on Tuesday (I'm 50 years old) and I'm really nervous.
Colon cancer does not run in my family.
My stools are in all shapes and sizes. (fat, thin, big, small, flat, round, balls and watery). Sorry to be gross. This morning, my stools were somewhat big but I noticed 1 was semi flat. Twice today after eating, I had diarrhea.
Can nervous make you have diarrhea?
With colon cancer, will the stools always be thin or flat? Sometimes I have healthy stools but other times, my stools are small and thin. Never blood. Sometimes, it's yellow but then it's back to brown.
I don't eat well and I certainly don't get enough fiber in my diet but if (hopefully) my colonoscopy comes back normal, I will eat more fruit and veg and exercise.
I don't have any pain but I know I have a sludge in my gallbladder but for the last few days, I've been having pain which I think is all in my head and my nerves.
Could somebody please let me know what you think. Could it all be my diet and nerves?

I have had great difficulty in passing stool for about the past 2 or 3 months, I have mentioned this to doctors and all I have had back in prescribed stool softeners and soluble laxatives to help me go. But I am still only managing to go once every 10 days at best. In addition it is very sore when I do manage to pass stool and occasionally bloody, though not in the stool itself. I also have a very sore coccyx, or a pain in that area but nothing shows on the x-ray.

This should be a title to a horror movie, not the title of a post,in another attempt to gain some insight to what is inhabiting the largest organ of my body.
Am I really delusional? the dermatologist diagnosed me as being a cracked egg,I'm a victim of domestic violence and therefore,my brain has made up an imaginary situation, to take me away from the emotional trauma...he says I may also be psychotic, I've mutilated my skin, picked and scraped away at myself, simply because I'm convinced that I am unworthy of my vulnerable protection,my defenseless, pink skin...NO.
I HAVE SOMETHING IN MY DAMN PORES.
That man....he scared me more than any violence, domestic or random! I'm looking to find a slight insight, other than Demodex, scabies, botfly,or the largest bodied Demodex...the one that causes mange in dogs. They're very small but damn it...they're very visible! I thought I had pinpointed where they hail from predominantly... I was wrong. I researched myself...tried different creams...permethrin, high dose cortisone, tea tree...still popping out of the open pores, sometimes sebum sometimes alone. Thread like but also grain of rice like, can't see them move, think they may be in my mouth as well. When I haven't slept for 24 hours( I work a lot) they bite(?) And it feels like I walked through fiberglass, then they come out! Yep,uninvited terrorists and I'm the host. What is this?

I produce narrow stools for a long period of time now (2 months). I did it once few months ago but it came back to normal, but not now it lasts .
I'm so scared this can be a symptom of colorectal cancer. I'm only 30 and I don't have any family history with this cancer. I know I'm very stressful. I've seen a specialist who told me I had internal hemorrhoids (he did an endoscopy). Do I have to do a colonoscopy ?
It's like play doh stools ...
These narrow stools are driving me crazy.

I am posting this because I suspect that I have piles. It all started with minor constipation and with in 2 days it got severe (when I say constipation I mean hardness to pass stool). However, I still go to the loo daily. Anyway, long story short, I have been having severe bleeding, pain and constipation for over a month now. Without having a break. I suspect its piles because it runs all along my dad's family. But I am starting to fear this as it hasn't gone away yet. Is this normal? The blood is fresh and bright. However the pain at the bottom is unbearable. I am already taking enough amount of insoluble fibre, drinking plenty of water, and always had gone to the gym on daily basis. Could anyone throw light on this scenario and tell me if this is normal? I am thinking about going to GP but my work doesn't provide me the chance to do so.

This is my Second pregnancy and since i was 11 weeks i noticed some bleeding after passing a stool so went to see the nurse who did an examination down there and confirmed it was piles, i suffer with health anxiety so i wasn't settled with the diagnosis, anyway i relaxed and only had a couple of bleeding episodes, i'm now 24 weeks pregnant and recently have been have some bleeding when i wipe after a bowel movement, it also feels quite sharp when i poop like i'm tearing the skin and a small amount of bright red blood is seen on the paper ( there is none mixed in with the stool) i've had a look down there and i can see what i think is a pile, and also a tear i think, it feels sore now has anyone had any experience with this problem and should i be worried? i had the op 5 days ago, has been 5 horrible horrible days. Lots of very bad pain, etc.
now I have had traces of blood in all my stools. And have kept myself regular with movicol. But today, I had to 'push' ever so slightly nothing major, I couldn't stop it. Wasn't a major push ,etc and out popped a tiny more condensed poop.
its about 4 hours later, and was back on the pot, and was feeling like I needed to go, it felt watery again, and it was again a small bit. But this time a lot of blood. Before there were just streaks but this time it's was just blood instead of the mucous fluid with traces in.
is this normal, ? Due to the earlier little push. I was shocked as it's the most blood I have passed. Should I gear up for more of this and not be worried.
i have stopped the codeine yesterday and just on a ibuprofen . I'm in less pain which is good, but worried I might have torn staple or stitches etc hence more blood and less pain.
i'm waiting for my next bm , but have hardly eaten since the opp, today was a small bowl of all bran this am, I have dropped about 7lbs since opp. I'm going to eat a decent slab of salmon tonight, but worried with the consequences.

Is it possible to have regular BM twice daily and still have impacted stools in your transverse colon?
Also is the transverse colon above or below the belly button?
The reason I ask is because I have IBS and suffer terrible bloating in my upper abdomen mainly above my belly button to my sternum. However when I have a BM the bloating and hardness reduces a lot.

Doesn't make sense. Just sending back to original doctor. Anyone else? If so what was the cause?
