Swollen Upper Arm
Jul 18, 2015
My left upper arm just above the inside of my elbow is swollen, I can notice the difference and it feels like the muscle although it's been like it for a couple weeks.I've recently been to the doctor as I had some breast pain she checked for lumps and checked my armpit and round nothing but I forgot to mention the swelling. She obviously didn't notice it but I'm away on holiday now and it's playing on my mind. I can't do anything for 2 weeks.

I had unprotected sex for like a week straight 3-4 times ,a day good intense session each time, with a girl i know is clean(STD Wise). Well thats what i thought(showed me legit papers so that's legit). Anyway the day after the final day of having sex, i notice a few red dots(little) appear on my head and shaft, and my scrotum got swollen red and shiny, and now today the pee hole has gotten a little swollen too. It itches no more noticeably then ever only a little bit(not like i'm itching every 5 minutes), doesn't hurt when i pee or ejaculate, its just freaking me out. I am going to get tested tomorrow but was hoping for some faster advice.
The thing is i shaved all of my junk for the first time(usually just trim) and got what i think is an ingrown hair or pimple (looks like one) on my shaft too, i don't think it's herpes but who knows, i'm just trying to figure what else all this could be.

I've had swollen glands in my neck, a swollen larynx, and hoarseness for the past few days. The outside of my throat is also sore to touch and gets red. The inside of my throat is fine and it doesn't hurt to swallow. No fever, nothing else. When it rains it gets worse. It sometimes goes away after the rain. In the past I had it and it stayed for over two years straight! The ENT could find no reason for it. Is this allergy-related? Has anyone else had this? If so is there anything that can be done? Nothing I do seems to help. I take 20mg reactine that is supposed to last 24 hours, avamys a corticosteroid nasal spray for allergies. I also take symbicort, ventolin, and singulair for asthma.

Has anyone had an upper UTI infection before? - I just got a UTI last night around 1am, burning while peeing, sluggish, etc, but later tonight I started feeling tenderness around my flank area underneath my rib cage, nothing painful, but I can feel it. I'm not sure if that's just natural gas or what. I've been drinking 100% pure cranberry juice for the past 2 hours with lots of water, so I'm wondering if that helps at all?

I am sixteen years old and had an Upper gastroscopy yesterday!
Firstly DON'T WORRY! Alls I did was worry and it really was ok.
I checked into the hospital, and waited in my bed for about half an hour. I was then taken to a pre-theatre room, where i was told to lie on my back. I had my throat sprayed and it numbed it instantly. I then had the sedation put into a vain in my hand. The doctor then told me to lie on my side, but I couldn't as I was already sedated (That's how quick it works!)
DON'T worry about the air being pumped into you, I didn't feel a thing!
The next thing I knew, I woke up and it was all over. The procedure only lasted for 5 minutes.
I waited around for about one hour for the sedation to ware off and then I went home with my mum and boyfriend.
Today I woke up with mild stomach pains due to the fact I had a BIOPSY took of my stomach, but as the day wore on they gradually got smaller.

I was recently informed by my primary care doctor that my liver enzymes are nearly twice their upper limit.
I scheduled to get repeat blood work done, but I was given the impression that those enzymes are most commonly elevated by binge drinking or large doses of Tylenol.
I am a young man and have not had any alcohol in the past year (and nothing more than a glass of wine in the past 4 years) and have not taken any Tylenol (or any pain killer) for the past 6 months.
I do take allergy medication daily (Zyrtec, occasionally Benadryl), but that has not changed since my last round of blood work, in which my liver enzymes were fine.
1) Besides disease, why could my enzyme values be so high?
2) What other tests/steps would have to be preformed to determine whether or not I have an illness?

I've been dealing with FS since Fall. That's when I noticed the dull achy pain that I thought was from a new bra strap digging in. In December I started having the zinger pain that would shoot down my arm with sudden movements. I saw a Ortho doctor in February who gave me a Cortisone shot and sent me to 6 weeks of physical therapy. Very painful, still can't raise my arm all the way, but I haven't had that zinger pain in a while so I believe I might be starting to see the light at the end of this long tunnel.
What I'm experiencing now is an almost constant dull aching pain in my upper arm, like where you would get an injection. I also have a lot of tenderness in the area around my upper back behind my armpit.

Yesterday, I noticed a grouping of tiny white spots on the outside of my upper lip located close to the inside of my lip. They are about the size of the tip of a pen and there are several grouped together. They become very noticeable when I stretch my lip out. Does this sound like oral herpes?
Also, a co worker shared some tic tacs with me on Wednesday and after she handed them to me and I ate them I noticed what looked like a cold sore below her lip. Could it have been transmitted this way?

Last week I noticed that a small bump was on my inner labia majora towards the top section, rather than the vaginal opening. Last morning the bump has turned into a slightly hard, but movable lump that hurts when touched. What's going on? Who should I see about this? Help please

I can see a Colonoscopy coming my way.
Just wanted to say about 4 years ago I had to have an upper tract endoscopy (tube down throat) and was beside myself over it. I'm the biggest wimp going and very frightened of invasive procedures.
Anyway, circumstance on the day were that if I had sedation I'd have no one to drive me home afterwards but I wanted to get it over and one with.
So believe it or not I asked for it without sedation. The nurse tried to dissuade me but I stuck to my guns. I did accept the throat spray though. I calmed myself as much as I could and walked into the procedure room.
I'm please to say I managed it without sedation and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. No pain and only minimal discomfort. I did mumble about getting the endoscope out quick just before the end but by then it was nigh on all over. The examining doctor said I'd done so well to tolerate it. That made me doubly proud of myself because at the time I suffered from severe panic attacks (now thankfully gone).
Back in recovery all my fellow endoscopes who'd had their procedure before me were snoring their heads off. I waited there a while because I wanted the numbness the spray had caused to my throat to wear off. During this wait I heard other patients who had been sedated fighting, groaning, moaning and shouting during their investigation. I'm sure that would have been me if I'd been left with no control.
Now possibly got to face a colonoscopy and heading to that section to see what the score is on that front.

I just thought I'd post my experience with my upper endoscopy/gastroscopy today, as I'd been putting it off for ages due to the awful stories I read online. I think people are more inclined to post their experience if it's an unusually traumatic one, so I'd like to add another good story to balance it out!
Background: I'm a 26 year old female. It was about a year ago that my GP pushed for a gastroscopy, but after doing my research, I refused. Even the thought of it made my heart skip a beat. I was in the hospital once for an ultrasound and walked by the endoscopy unit... I remember thinking, no way am I ever going in there! Then this year I suffered a few bad bouts of vomiting, and my GP again encouraged me to have a gastroscopy. By then I was so sick that I just wanted to do whatever I could to help myself.
So, in preparation, I read as many encouraging experiences as I could. By the time I arrived at the hospital today (University College London), I was in good spirits and excited to finally get it over with. I knew I was going to opt for just the throat spray and no sedation, as I always feel like my best chance of getting through anything is mind power.
After an hour's wait, I was led into the procedure room and prepared by two lovely nurses. The doctor sprayed the numbing stuff into my mouth (it kind of stung and tasted weird, but it didn't bother me). I was expecting to feel uncomfortable as my throat was numbed, but it wasn't bad at all. I could still sort of feel myself swallow. If you feel like you can't swallow and it weirds you out, just put your hand on your throat and feel yourself swallow from the outside.
The nurses then inserted the mouth piece, and the doctor told me to close my eyes. I felt the endoscope go to the back of my throat. He told me to swallow, and next thing you know I felt it (very faintly) go down my throat. I could breathe normally, as the endoscope was a lot narrower than my esophagus (I had pictured it as being so big it would block the air!), and I could even swallow without choking. Swallowing had been my main concern, because I find it hard not to swallow for long periods. But I was able to breathe and swallow as normal.
While the endoscope was in my stomach, I was comfortable enough - I could have lasted like that for another hour. A few minutes in, the doctor moved the endoscope into my duodenum, and this is when it felt a tiny bit sore for a few seconds. It was more like discomfort than pain. He took some biopsies, which didn't hurt at all, I just didn't like the general feeling of something in that part of my intestine. But that part was so short (20 seconds or so) and the doctor reassured me by saying the procedure was almost over. Next thing I know, he pulled it back into my stomach, then all the way back up my throat. The whole thing lasted about 5 minutes max, no gagging at all. I would do it again right away if I had to! I'm really glad I didn't opt for sedation, as being aware of how easy it was going is what kept me calm throughout. I was out of the hospital and on the bus home within 15min of being done.
Here's to reassure you about some common fears people have:
Gagging and being sick: The throat spray will do a lot to stop gagging, but even if you do gag, remind yourself that it's okay. It doesn't feel nice, but you're not going to die or have permanent damage, and there's probably nothing in your stomach for you to vomit up. I've had plenty of nights vomiting continuously for 10 hours, thinking I was going to suffocate, bursting blood vessels in my face from the violent gagging. So, absolute worst case scenario, I'm sure you can manage a few minutes of that surrounded by nurses that are taking care of you. But you probably won't be near that bad!
In preparation, I actually trained my gag reflex to be less sensitive. Touching your gag reflex over time will desensitise it. If gagging really has you worried, I suggest Googling instructions (sword swallowers do this, as do people who... ahem... deep throat). This could be especially useful if you're the kind of person who gags when they brush their teeth or swallow pills. Sensitivity should return when you stop "exercising" the reflex (it's not good to weaken it forever, as it's there to stop you from choking!). Making a fist with your left hand and squeezing your left thumb inside it is also said to suppress your gag reflex.
Not being able to breathe: Nothing to be afraid of here, there is plenty of space in your throat and nose to breathe.
Not being able to swallow: I managed to swallow just fine throughout, but you may not even need to, as the nurses suck out excess saliva with one of those dentist tubes.
Pain: Many people experience no pain, others just a tiny bit of soreness or discomfort at points. But probably nothing worse than the symptoms that have led you to do this test.
Panicking: If you are vaguely comfortable with things going past your gag reflex (as I was after desensitising it), you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I could hardly feel the tube in my throat. Thank goodness for that spray stuff! And just keep telling yourself it's a very short, safe, painless procedure, and each second you bear is one second closer to it being over. In the lead up to test, read other people's good experiences, and focus on the positive of how glad you'll be to have finally done it.
If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer. If you're still really scared about having a gastroscopy, just remember, I was exactly like you a few months ago! And I managed to change my mindset to the point where I was laughing and joking with the nurses as they prepared me.

I have had pain/discomfort in my leg for 3 weeks now it started as calf pain which changed positions from behind knee to lower down to ankle and shin. It would come and go throughout the day but seems worse when sitting down. There is no swelling or redness. It has now progressed and I have pain/discomfort in my bum cheek and upper thigh down to my ankle again it comes and goes and is worse when sitting doesn't really bother me when I'm walking around. It is mostly in my left leg although occasionally I feel discomfort in right leg also but majority of time it is my left.

I'm 17 and I was just looking in the mirror at my lips, because they had been really badly chapped two weeks before. I bought some kind of chap stick, and it worked really well... no more chapped lips. However I noticed today that I now have little white bumps on my upper lip. I've never noticed them before, and I was wondering if you could get these bumps from using too much chapstick perhaps.

I'm 15 and I've noticed tiny bumps when my penis is erect and I'm worried, you have to look closely to see them when it's flaccid but not when erect, I masturbate almost everyday once or twice a day, sometimes more. I'm very worried it could be an STD, they don't hurt or itch and only turn pinkish red when I masturbate, there only on the upper shaft and I'm circumcised. I'm a virgin but I've come In contact with girls before just not sex.

I have been having some strange issues going on this past week.. My lower back so been hurting and when I go to stand up its almost like my lower back, butt, and upper legs are numb and won't support me. it causes pain when this happens and it's hard for me to straighten my body up. the longer I sit the worse the pain is when I stand. when I bend over my upper legs try to give out on me. this has never happened before and as I don't have insurance I'm hoping someone can give me some insight as to what this may be and what I should do

So I have this red/pink 'spot' on the upper part of my nose (just slightly below, for instance, where your glasses would sit on). It's not exactly a spot, other than it's circular and red, it's flat and painless. With some concealer you wouldn't see it as the skin is not raised. It's about 5 mm in diameter.
Now the issue is that is has been there for at least 3 months... and because my skin is very fair, this red/pink circular mark is very visible! It doesn't do anything, doesn't change shape or grow. It just sits there looking red and rosy.
Can you help shed light on what it is? How can I get rid of it? I've googled around for answers, possibilities are broken blood vessels/veins under the skin.

A week and a half ago, I was showering and noticed that I have a nodule/lump on the upper right side of my vagina, on the labia majora [the soft, fleshy, pink area, not my actual skin, though it is closer to my outer skin than the inside of my vagina - when I stand up it's on the very outer edge of the lip, not entirely inside].
Of course, I freaked. I have been sexually active for several years. I have been consistent with using condoms, but several months ago when I was casually dating someone and we had sex, the condom broke, slid off inside me and naturally we had 'skin to skin' contact. So I am scared of HPV, I was scared of herpes too but I was relieved when I passed the 2 1/2 week incubation time for herpes and nothing showed up. He said he was tested every 6 months and he was an honest, if not blunt person and had no reason to lie. But I am worried.
To describe the bump: it's more under the skin than above it, if that makes sense. It blends in with the surrounding skin and it feels like a semi-hard lump that moves around a bit when I touch it. It's almost painless and it doesn't itch. When I pull back the surrounding skin [to expose where the bump actually is], it looks like a dark white color. I've done a few compresses and it's gotten slightly smaller, but otherwise hasn't changed. It doesn't look like any genital warts I've looked up online...in fact, it almost looks like a cyst but it doesn't have a head right now. I was shaving a lot, with not a very sharp razor either, often for the 2 1/2 months preceding the cyst. I have also been on 2 new birth controls recently, and I have been getting cysts on my face, so I wonder if you can get them on your vagina, too [?].
