I keep getting red, blotchy and sometimes dry skin on the side of my face that I sleep on (i.e. the one I rest on the pillow). It is usually there when I wake up in the morning and it's getting embarrassing because one side of my face is clear while the other one is red and blotchy. It extends to my neck occasionally too.
View 6 RepliesI've had really bad hives since June, their out of control and all over my body and beyond itchy! I've tried switching laundry detergents and other stuff and it hasn't worked at all. It's so bad where I have to cancel my plans because it's all over my face and it's embarrassing. I've become depressed because of these hives I have cried so many times and the itch gets so bad sometimes that I can't even sleep at night. My doctor prescribed me some Apo-hydroxyzine first at 5 mg it worked the first week stopped, then the hives returned so went back and he upped the dosage to 10mg that worked for a week but stopped working and the hives are just really bad I feel like I'm allergic to EVERYTHING!! We don't have a dermatologist on the island unfortunately and I'm so fed up and done with this I've tried to stay positive but I just feel really down and moody.
View 6 RepliesI seem to get rashes often from different antibiotics. My allergic to or sensitive to list is ever growing. I recently was taking clindamycin and got a "rash" that looks like little white and red pimples. It started just on my face. I haven't taken any in over a week, but it's still all over my face and back and front of my neck. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there anyway to make it go away. I've grown accustomed to hives, but this is different. I should also add, I had an infected tooth and my period. Could these have anything to do with it?
View 1 RepliesI've been dealing with this rash on my butt for a few years now. It only shows up in a sort of red "ring" where the cheeks touch. It's a little itchy (my anus is not itchy or red) but mostly just painful. Sometimes it will go away for about a week but it's generally there in some level of severity.
At the advise of a doctor (I went in about a year ago), I tried using clotrimazole 1% for two weeks at a time. It doesn't seem to do a whole lot of good.
Any ideas? I'm really tired of the near constant rash.
I wish I knew what this was, but I honestly don't know. I recently moved into an apartment in southern Indiana from Northern Indiana. Within the first week I started getting small itchy bumps on my hips, and my roommate did too. I had my fiance come spend a weekend here and she developed the same rash. After 3 months of living here, it has now spread to my hands, both the tops and the palms, my inner thighs, my penis, my legs, especially behind my knees, my arms, my chest, and my back. My face is still okay (thank god, I might have to leave work if it spreads there), but the itching is unbearable. The bumps aren't too noticeable and my leg hair covers most of them on my lower half, but they are there none the less. The itching is especially bad around my ankles and on my feet. I've scratched both feet raw in places, I can't sleep, showering is unbearable, and I guess the rash actually hurts for my fiance. I went to my parents' house for the weekend a while back and they didn't get the rash, oddly enough. My roommate has been to her university's on campus clinic and they didn't know what it was, but they prescribed her Triamcinolone Acetonide, which hasn't really helped anything but temporary relief from itching. It's not contact dermatitis, no one else in our complex seems to have this problem so I doubt it's the water, we have a pet rabbit but it's never been outside or around other animals, and none of our furniture is not made of anything that fleas or bedbugs could live in (water bed, air mattress, leather couch.) It's actually killing me right now as I type this, and I really really need some help with this.

View 5 RepliesI've just switched from 2.5 to 5mg Ramipril, when I suddenly had an allergic reaction.
Very swollen feet, ankles, wrists and hands.
Now the following day I'm covered in welts, hives and a rash.
My doctor has put me on a course of steroids and antihistamines, but my skin feels like it's still on fire!
Have been taking Andopoline for about 5 weeks, and was then prescribed Ramipril 2.5 two weeks ago, then up to 5mg last week.
Took the first 5mg on Thursday, and started getting the symptoms first thing Friday morning
Has anyone else suffered from this, and how long does it last?
I have been suffering from a rash on my ankles. The major symptoms I would say are a very itchy rash that waters when I scratch, and more prominently, 'dead' skin forms around my ankle and peels. The skin also seems to be getting tougher (maybe due to the scratching).
I have been to 2 doctors so far. The first felt it was contact dermatitis and gave me a corticosteroid (mometasone furoate) which cleared it up for some months but then it came back again. I've been to another doctor 2 weeks ago who gave me an antifungal cream (daktarin), but after 2 weeks of applying, I can't see any significant improvement to be honest. In fact, the infection spread to the left ankle only after I had started this treatment. I don't know if there's a connection. I would be seeing a specialist next if this treatment fails but I would like to have a good idea of what it might be.
I am 12 weeks pregnant and my skin on my bridge of nose/eyebrows, are immediately to the left/right of nose, and on the sides of my mouth down to my chin won't stop peeling. I have tried olive oil, coconut oil and nothing works. I didn't experience this with my first pregnancy nor is my skin ever like this.
I have to exfoliate in the mornings (use baking soda) and gently scrub those areas so it doesn't look so awful but within a few hours, cracked peeling skin. I have tried not exfoliating, nothing works.
Any ideas on what I can use? do? Should I go see a dermatologist?
Was prescribed Trimethoprim for a UTI. 7 days into a 28 day course I have developed an horrendous skin rash over the entire body. Some are small blisters which are quite sore. Having not visited a doctor's surgery for three years and having never taken antibiotics before this is not a good introduction to modern medicine.....I will have to on the verge of death before I visit a GP again....
View 2 RepliesI've gotten eczema rashes for the past few years in very small patches on my upper arms and back. While annoying, it was not a big deal. But last week I washed my face and it felt irritated on my forehead. The next day when I looked in the mirror, the entire left side of my forehead had become a rough leathery patch. I was able to get it to go away by softly rubbing away the thickened skin in the shower, but over the course of the week, I have started to develop the same irritated, flaking and thickened skin on my eyelid, below both my eyes, under my bottom lip and on one of my cheeks. I went to the dermatologist who prescribed a ketoconazole and to start washing/moisturizing with cetaphil.
But I'm pretty embarrassed about these patches on my face and the dryness is super uncomfortable so I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get it to go away faster.
Does anyone here experience inflammation of skin of their face?
View 10 RepliesI am 29 Years old. I was having problem on my face skin. So i visited a Doctor who prescribed me Adalen and Glycolic 6. After using that, it was better.
Now I had a function to attend so i used tan pack and have done facial.
After that the affected area got swollen and red. I applied ice cubes and Lacto Calamine. Now the swelling up is not there but the red patch mark is still there.
The affected area got very dry and..when i stretch the skin and leave it. The skin gets lines and squeezed type.
woke up this morning with a fish lip, an a itchy rash on my skin my hands are swollen as well, only been on carbimazole for nearly a month now. Going the doctors soon to see if its these tablets am on. I look a sight going like this looks like i have had botox which has gone wrong. hopefully i get it sorted otherwise am going to have to drink radio iodine, am only 22.
View 1 RepliesDefinitely have the Mohs procedure done and not radiation on the face. I had it just done, they had to cut the size of a nickel out, and did a skin graft over. But it's gone, and over. I am healing now.
New to the forum..and quite frankly this is all still a bit surreal to me. I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on my face above my lip. I never knew it was cancer and initially, when it first appeared on my face (when I was 18!), I thought it was a huge pimple. Eventually it healed into a flesh toned bump and it looked like a raised flesh colored mole, about 0.3 cm in its largest surface dimension.
This whole time I thought it was a poorly healed acne spot and now that I am 24, I decided to go see a dermatologist to have this removed (for cosmetic reasons). He ended up sending it to get biopsied to be safe and it ended up being cancer!
Now, I'm torn between doing Mohs or proceeding with radiation. Since it was in my face for 6 years, I'm afraid maybe the root grew deeper into my skin and they would have to cut out more tissue. All the Google images of post Mohs surgeries look so scary and I'm beginning to feel a bit traumatized that I'll have to go through this on my face.
Can anyone weigh in on how their Mohs surgery/scar healed? If they were to cut out a dime-sized area on your face, would they stitch you up after or would they leave it as an open wound and let it heal that way? What are the implications of how they close the surgery on the scar you are left with afterward? How many days/weeks do you have to wait for the open wound to start looking like a healing scar?
Because of this, I almost want to proceed with radiation so that I don't have to deal with waiting weeks for the scar to heal (I work full time in an office and enjoy going out to hang out in my leisure time, I would not want to be out if I had an open wound healing on my face). I like that it's less invasive and I know that they won't be cutting out a huge part of my face. What worries me about Mohs is that I won't know how big of a chunk they'll be taking off my face. I know Mohs is the gold standard for removing all of the cancer, but radiation treatments can have up to 95%-98% cure rate. IF my basal cell were to recur after proceeding with radiation treatments, would it recur in the same place or would it pop up somewhere else on my face? How does recurrence usually work with basal cell carcinoma?
I have a rash on various parts of my body which is very itchy & I scratch which makes it worse occasionally it goes away but now it is really bad & my doctor has prescribed a short course of steroids. Is it safe to take them since I have closed angle glaucoma?

The next day my inner thighs started itching and it has spread to a couple itch bumps on my stomach, many on my waist area / lower abdomen. I tried to refrain from itching intensely.I've done a buttload of research, eczema is all I've found to fit so far. It doesn't seem to be mites/bed bugs/scabies/chiggers. Jock itch doesn't fit. Neither does yeast infection, or any other fungal/bacterial infection.My penis has become less itchy but more try. The skin on the head is flaking. I've been using ice cubes to temporarily relieve the itch but it's not too much help. My sleep is becoming very disturbed.

Looks somewhat like blotches of birthmarks around my bikini line. Its lighter when my skin is dry. Right out of the shower it turns more red. Outline is a darker red. Inside is lighter shade....?
View 1 RepliesAbout a week and a half ago I woke up to my left eye completely swollen shut. Doctor gave me antihistamine and antibiotic to cover allergic reaction and infection. Swelling significantly went down but never 100%. Eyelid still throbbing on occasion and throbbing to side of eye and in corner. Swelling has moved to side of face and under chin. Had cat scan and ultrasound and nothing abnormal but everyone notices the swelling except my doctor down plays it. Something is going and I'm super frustrated with what it could be.

It aches when i open my jaw, around my right eye, and had a sore nippy hot feeling in my throat all day, a couple days before , b waking up with a sore face, i've been getting lightheaded spells as well, could this be something to do with it as well?
View 1 Repliesi found out i had bell's palsy 2 days ago i can't move my face on one side i was really scared because it came on over night i only realised when i went to eat something and it felt really weird i asked my partner is my mouth working and he said one side of my mouth was frozen and when i went to get it checked out they said it was the condition called bell's palsy could anybody help me and let me know how long it takes to recover.
