View 2 RepliesI have a 'Frozen Shoulder'.
This was caused by an inoperative Humerus shoulder fracture because the orthopedic surgeon found an infection in my bone during surgery. ( I fell back on 10/6/14) Doctors were baffled how I ended up with an infection since I had no cuts and was in perfect health before I fell.
Surgeon put a drain in and closed me up. I was in a sling for 2 1/2 months and on IV antibiotics for over a month.
Dec 14 I started Physical Therapy, 3xs a week. Along with exercises at home. I have little ROM. Very stiff. Extreme tightness.
I have constant pain from the back of my shoulder to my elbow, bicep. muscles. The little knots are quite painful. I push, squeeze to ease the pain. Massaging the shoulder / arm eases it just for a bit.
Due to the infection that was found in my bone during surgery, three ortho surgeons said they will not operate on my shoulder.
Intensive therapy is all they said I need.
Ortho surgeon will not prescribe pain medication.
My primary care physician prescribed 10mg oxycodone which I cut in half. I only take a full pill when I have physical therapy. Scared what will happen when I run out of pills. Doubt my Dr will refill the prescription. (sad face)
I have tried Aleve, Excedrin, Advil, which doesn't help the pain. I even mixed them with benadryl to sleep. But that didn't help either.
Do to Medicare amount allotted for physical therapy, I can only go a certain amount of times. Which now, I only have a few more visits to go.
Been going to PT for about 3 months and haven't seen any improvement. This is really horrible!
PT said he will teach me what I can do at home and that I could pay $30 a visit if I wanted to.
But personally, I feel it would be wasting my money since I would be paying him just to rub my arm for 10 minutes since I do the same exercises at home. I bought a door pulley and therabands.
Last year I hurt my shoulder. I am not sure of the exact thing that hurt it, but I think it may have been golfing. I work out heavily(always accompanied by proper stretching) but one night I had a little too much to drink and went to the driving range. That's when it started. For almost two years now I've had debilitating shoulder pain. It was excruciating . I put myself in a sling for 4 no the and started to try and stretch it out and work it out lightly. It took a year and the pain subsided but I am unable to work out or lift much with it. If I swing my arm around it pops and crunches. If I do anything rough with it the pain comes back. Well I was doing some lifting at work yesterday and today I'm back in the sling. First time in like 8 months. The pain happens when I lift my elbow up from the side. If I lift my arm up wrist up to the front without bending my elbow. Its terrible. If my wife falls asleep on that shoulder. Its excruciating. I can't stand it anymore. I'm a college student and a cook. I have no Insurance. I have to admit when I started stretching it and working it out a little (I looked up good stretches for rotator cuff injuries.) I didn't stick with it very long because I'm pretty sure something is seriously wrong with it that strengthening won't help.
View 3 RepliesOn October 24, 2013 I had rotator cuff surgery. 3 weeks later I was in the ER with shortness of breath. I have right hemidiaphragm paralysis from the interscalene block. Has anyone else had this happen? I am now seeing a pulmonologist.
View 2 RepliesTo all who has had rotator cuff surgery when did you feel that you could sleep in bed comfortably?
Im coming up to 5 weeks post op on the 6th, I'm mostly still in the recliner but if I wake around 4-am I have been trying to go to bed, I have a wall of pillows behind me so I don't roll on that side and I have a small cushion I put under my arm for comfort, I'm limited to sleeping on my right side but I have been able to grab an hour or two sleep, sling comes off on the 13th, how did everyone sleep when the sling came off?
I had rotator cuff surgery this past May ((2013). For partial tear. The surgery itself was fine. Never experienced intolerable pain. But my shoulder still aches--especially when sitting at computer or driving. Is this normal?
View 1 RepliesI just want to ask could a rotary cuff problem generate a cervical problem?

View 2 Repliesif anyone here who has had rotator cuff surgery continues to have painful "catching" in the arm 18 weeks post surgery? I had a SLAP and labrum tear but only debridement during surgery because the surgeon felt the tears didn't need attention. PT has not resolved this "catching" issue in the upper arm which was one of the main reasons for surgery to begin with. I have had two MRI's (pre and post surgery). I have also sought a second opinion from a different surgeon who wants me to have yet another MRI, but this time with contrast.
View 2 RepliesI'm 19 and 6 months ago I had a SCT. In August 2013 I was diagnosed with ALL(acute lymphoblastic leukemia). During chemo and after SCT I had cycle but it was a bit different. For a few days I have been feeling bad, I am vomiting. Today I found that I am pregnant. What should I do?
View 1 RepliesI’ve been suffering from scleroderma for more than three years now and as the disease progressed my current treatment (Cyclophosphamide transfusion) seems completely unable to stop scleroderma to progress further to my lungs. So, ever since I got my diagnosis I’ve been searching online for possible treatments and one that came up is stem cell transplant that they seem to do in Singapore. The name that pops up most often when researching this topic is dr Loh Su Ming Yvonne – she is the one doing the stem cell transplants. I’m sure the whole thing could be too expensive, especially if she doesn’t operate in US, but still, if anyone went through stem cell transplant, could you please tell me did it help or not?
View 2 RepliesDoes anyone know of any U.K. hospital that carries out stem cell treatment for hips rather than hip replacement
View 6 RepliesMy mother in law suffered from Alzheimer's disease for 10 years . Now I'm seeing symptoms in my husband (He often forgets like the name of his friend, etc..). I was alarmed and asked help from a friend. She recommended me the stem cell therapy for Alzheimer in Asia where we tried and stayed at the medical clinic for almost 2 weeks. He is on his 2nd week of therapy and I really hope that everything goes well.
View 1 RepliesI have heard they have this to help neuropathy. Have not thoroughly checked it out. Has anyone tried this or know anything about this?
View 1 RepliesI was just wondering if anyone in USA or Canada has heard of this and what they thought? I have talk to a Dr. and a Nurse from the States and they say it does work, but cost a few thousand . No one has called me back in Canada yet. Before I spend the money, just want to make sure it's safe and will help.

Has anyone hear of Stem Cell Research involving this illness?
there is the Lung Institute here in the states and I signed up for a webinar next week.
Has anyone had Stem Cell Injection on Knee with Osteoarthritis? They will repair a torn meniscus. The stem cell injection is a new procedure that is supposed to help people with osteoarthritis to help grow cartilage back. It works in most people from what I am reading. Wondering if anyone has actually had this done and what is the outcome? I am facing a TKR in time but they won't do it now. This is my only option.
View 2 RepliesI have an appointment next week at Placidway to discuss whether I will continue with the stem cell transplant for Parkinson's Disease in Europe early next yr. I have many things on my mind and I plan on asking a lot of questions. I'll try my best to understand and be relaxed. Lol! Anyone can help me on what to expect?
View 1 RepliesHaven't posted in a long time- years....I have a family member that is an adult pain patient. In 2004 he began his journey when a surgeon damaged nerves during surgery and now he suffers severe pelvic floor pain that radiates into his legs and toes.
Medication regimen is MSir and methadone; pain levels are 5-10 without remittance. Pain specialist has tried every available block, implantable device and nothing has worked due to where the nerve injury is.
We've talked about a motor cortex stimulator but the chance of something going wrong (seizures, stroke, hemorrhage) keeps us at bay.
I recently read that stem cell therapy has been attempted with success on pain patients and was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of this potential therapy. Some centers use autologous stem cells and others are using banked, pooled cells. UCSF (I've heard good things about their pain service)
My Mother is 60 years old and recently she is diagnosed with cerebral atrophy. We have consulted neurologists for the same and all gave same opinion that physiotherapy is the only way to minimize the effects.
Then we heard that stem cell therapy is the solution, which will not cure this disease but one can live normal life with this. Please suggest is stem cell therapy really works that ways?
