Just wanted to hear people's journeys, advice etc of taking sertraline. I myself have been on 50mg for 5 weeks and 1 day. My side effects lasted for 7-10 days and included loss of appetite, heightened anxiety, tense jaw, fatigue. I'm still not feeling where I want to be but much better than I was. How long did it take other people to feel like the old them?

View 4 RepliesI'm about to increase my sertraline dosage. The side effects in the first few weeks when I started were pretty bad and I felt really rough at times, mainly with nausea, dizziness etc. I was wondering: will this happen again on increasing the dosage? Or should it be OK now my body is used to the drug? If it's likely I'll get some side effects, how long are they likely to last and how bad might they be?

View 13 RepliesI suffer from bipolar and sleep disorders. My dr. prescribed many different things and nothing worked until the dosage of Seroquel was up to 600mg per night. Even at this dose I'm not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. My weight has soared from 130 to 195 over the past couple of years. I'm afraid to try something different but am also scared of long term side effects
View 2 RepliesMy husband has been suffering with unbearable headaches for 15 years. Over the last few months they have become so much worse to the point that he is in a ball, crying in pain, he can't see, can't walk, he was ranting during one attack that he was going to take all of the tablets he could find. He has no memory of saying these things when the headache has eased. He tells me the headache is there constantly but gets worse really quickly. He usually wakes up with the headache although they sometimes come on during the day. They are usually at the sides of his head above his eyes but swaps sides and sometimes goes down his neck. He gets them everyday for a week then has a few days to a week then they start again. He has had a number of GPs all of which have said he doesn't need to be referred to a specialist it is migraines as if it was anything 'serious' we'd have known by now ie nOt a brain tumour. He has had many preventative medicines but none have helped. His latest GP has prescribed gabapentin which was prior to his last and worst attack so far. When we explained what happened she merely raised the dosage and gave imigran for pain relief. I just wondered if anyone has been prescribed gabapentin long term for migraines and if there are any long term side effects as I've heard there are a number namely vitamin B 12 deficiency, pulmonary problems, long and short term memory loss.
View 29 RepliesI started the Nuvaring July 11, which was the first day of my period. I did notice that my period was lighter than usual. I couldn't really tell when my period ended because I've had a mostly brown discharge that followed my period. (TMI I know sorry) It's now the 23rd and I was really wondering for how long does this brown discharge usually last? Other than the discharge I haven't had any other side effects. Did anyone else develop other side effects after having discharge?
View 1 RepliesI suffer from recurrent moderately severe depression. I've been on Venlafaxine for about a year now. Previously I was taking the "Californian Cocktail" of Citalopram and mirtazapine but the weight gain of 3 stones and sedation to the point of regularly falling asleep at my work desk and whilst driving convinced me it was not for me - though it did relieve my depression.
My current dosage of venlafaxine is 375 mg per day (that's five 75 mg slow release caps) having read through most of the posts here I cannot find anyone on this level of dosage.
Am I a lab rat for an experimental psychiatrist?
My depression has largely been under control for most of this last year on Vn and the worst side effect, after the first two weeks, has been in the bedroom department but I am concerned at the long term health implications of this medication. Also and over the last 2 months my depression has slowly been returning which has prompted me to return to my psychiatrist.
Has anyone else had a similar experience of using Vn for a long period at this high dosage?
I would like to start an honest and frank discussion as to the possible effects of impotence drugs such as Cialis and Viagra.
Do you feel that since using these medications your erections have improved or deteriorated?
If you have been prescribed these long term, do you now need to take a higher dose to achieve the same effects or has taking the medications improved matters so that they are no longer required?
What unrecorded or additional side effects have you experienced?
Are there any side effect of taking vitamins(e.g. vitamin D+calcium) for long time as 3 months or more.
Does "Omeprazole 20mg" cause any harmful effect in long term use ?
I have switched from being on 40mg of cital. 3 weeks ago I switched to Sertraline and have not really noticed any improvement. Still depressed, no appetite, anxiety and panic attacks. Seems like the medication is not working. Also not sleeping great so started taking Trazodone on 3rd day at 150 mg. do not like the feeling. I am able to get some sleep but takes awhile to get to sleep. No motivation.
View 42 RepliesI just started on 25 mg of Zoloft for one week & now I'm on 50 mg for another week for anxiety/panic. I have yet to feel the difference? Does it take this long to take affect? I really want this to work. I almost feel like I'm worse! It's been 14 days and really not much of a difference.
View 60 RepliesI recently started Zoloft for depression and I started out with 50 mg and didn't have too bad of side effects. Went back to doctor after 2 weeks and she upped me to 100 mg. It has been 2 weeks now at 100 mg and I still don't see any changes. Do I have to wait the 6 weeks to see if it kicks in?

I've only been on them for 4 weeks.
After several years of on-off depression and anxiety I finally decided to try medication.
I started on 50mg Sertraline about 8 weeks ago. After a few days of horrible physical side effects I started to feel great. But in the last week I have started to feel not-so-great again. This could be due to a week away where I consumed a fair bit of alcohol and cannabis (after being very sensible since starting the Sertraline).
I'm thinking of asking my doctor to up the dose to 100mg.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced Sertraline "wearing off" after a few months, or being affected by alcohol?
Just wondering whether I can drink alcohol on sertraline? Iv been 50mg daily for about 2 weeks now. Not intending on getting drunk but just want to see how the effects are on other people first.
View 3 RepliesI am on my second frozen shoulder, now in my right arm. My left arm still does not have full movement.
My only relief is knowing that the pain will eventually subside.
The sleepless nights, the difficulty dressing, brushing hair, putting on seat belt, reaching for anything are all getting me down.
Every day I am hoping for it to be a little better.
I tried physio and cortisone injections with my first shoulder, but eventually gave up with it as there was no improvement. I have decided to let it run its course this time.
Have been suffering only 5 months so far and I remember the pain lasted for about 18 months before, so have a long way to go yet!
No one seems to sympathise and you look like you are making a fuss about nothing. But it is very painful, sometimes if I catch it funny it is such agony I cannot move for a few seconds while the pain subsides.
Sometimes the pain also travels down my arm and into my hand.
a have been on sertraline 50mg for 4 weeks now into my second week on 100mg a feel things are getting a lot better it is just the headaches at times are quite severe am having to take strong painkillers a know it is a side effect but are they meant to be so severe or should i go to the doctors ?
