STDs :: Small Bumps On/Near Vaginal Opening
Jan 6, 2016
I'm a 28 y/o heterosexual female. I am confused as to the nature of small, flesh-colored bumps I have near the opening of my vagina and am hoping someone can shed light on what these can potentially be. Firstly, please note that I have made a gynecologist appointment for Friday morning (1/8). I'm sure we're all familiar with the agony of waiting for an appointment, and then waiting some more to receive test results, so I'm hoping that describing the ailment here will help me narrow down the possible causes and relieve some anxiety.
Please bear with me--there are several variables to my situation, including my having the Mirena IUD placed, as well as developing a yeast infection post-placement (common when changing birth control methods, as the disruption in hormone levels affects the pH of the vagina).
Timeline and Facts:
I recently began a monogamous relationship in mid-November, 2015. My male partner and I used condoms in the beginning, but stopped once he was screened for STDs (including HIV and an HSV blood antibody test) and got a clean bill of health. I had been tested in August, 2015 and my results were all negative (my tests included the standard screening, plus an HSV blood antibody test). To date, all of my Pap Smears have been normal.
On 12/27/15, I noticed mild irritation near my vaginal opening, but believed that was due to either 1) frequent intercourse the previous two days, or 2) the beginning of a genital pimple. I've had a genital pimple before, which I learned to recognize by its white head, individual presentation, and rapid disappearance after treatment with a hot compress. When I've developed a genital pimple in the past, it was after either masturbation or intercourse wherein I didn't clean myself thoroughly enough and some remaining fluid clogged my pores. Because I'd been having frequent intercourse 12/25 - 12/26, I thought perhaps I was getting another pimple, and so I treated the area with a hot compress.
On 12/28/15, I visited my gynecologist to have the Mirena IUD placed. Placement, although somewhat painful, went well and fairly quickly. I had some spotting and cramping for three days afterward (to be expected after an IUD placement), but nothing alarming. During the IUD placement appointment, I asked the nurse to draw blood for STD screening, as I hadn't been tested since August and wanted to be sure I was still healthy. I was tested for HIV, HSV 1 & 2 (blood antibody test), Syphilis, and Hepatitis A, B, & C. All results were negative. I was not tested for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, HPV, or Trichomonas because the nurse did not perform a pelvic exam or swab.
My partner and I waited two days after the IUD placement to have sex (12/30), and we were careful not to be aggressive, as an IUD can sometimes be expelled from the uterus. The morning after having sex (12/31), I noticed that my vagina was somewhat sore and inflamed. I believed this to be related to the IUD placement coupled with having sex shortly thereafter. However, the soreness and inflammation continued and grew more intense, and by 1/1 I was also experiencing itchiness on and around my labia. Having had yeast infections before, I used a hand mirror to view my vulva. My labia were red and inflamed and I saw some white discharge. On 1/2 I treated myself at home by drinking fresh lemon juice and eating yogurt with live bacteria cultures. My symptoms improved overnight, and while I was happy to have physical relief, I decided to also treat with a Monistat suppository on 1/4 to be sure that the infection was gone.
On 1/4, while inspecting my vulva again prior to inserting the suppository, I noticed two small, smooth, flesh-colored, slightly raised bumps on my labia minora, immediately outside of my vaginal opening (the vaginal opening itself was still slightly inflamed). The bumps don't appear to have any kind of head on them, aren't open sores, and have no pain, discomfort, or itching associated with them. My previous soreness and itchiness had been located higher on the vulva, between the folds of the labia and closer to the urethra--so I was surprised to find bumps, as I hadn't had any pain or itching near my vaginal opening. Today (1/6), the bumps are still present, even after my yeast infection symptoms have disappeared.
I am confused as to what these bumps could be. I've always tested negative for HSV 1 & 2 (including my most recent testing on 12/28), and I had the Gardasil HPV vaccine as a teenager, before I became sexually active. I know that Gardasil protects against the cancer-causing strains of HPV, as well as 90% of the wart-causing strains. I suppose this could be warts caused by one of the strains not covered by Gardasil--how soon after exposure would warts appear, if this is the case?
To add even MORE information: my male partner's last relationship lasted ten years, was monogamous, and ended in June, 2015. He had not been screened for STDs in four years, which is why I asked him to be tested in early December 2015 when our relationship was getting more serious.

Today I noticed a cluster of small bumps around the bottom of the opening of my vagina, they're kind of red. I am sexually active with my boyfriend and I'm slightly worried he could have given me an std. We have oral sex too though and there's nothing wrong with my mouth.. We have sex a lot so maybe it could just be irritation.. I'm not sure but I'm scared. I have pictures but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post them.

Last night I noticed I had a few small bumps near the vaginal opening. They're not painful unless I touch them then it becomes a burning sensation and it'll cause burning when I pee. I have checked photos of genital warts and herpes and none seem to match.

I feel my vaginal opening is small and tight, which causes pain and difficulty in penetration. I used to do digital penetration and am able to insert two of my fingers together, but it doesn't seem to dilate while penis insertion. What could be a possible treatment? Would dilators work or will I need to undergo a surgery?

I don't really remember when these symptoms FIRST appeared, all I know is, these past 2 months have been hell...
I am 17 years old, I have had 2 sex partners. Every single time I have had sex, I've ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS used a condom, it has never broken before and there has never been a rip in it to cause a leak.
My symptoms are hard to describe.
1. I have NO discharge
2. There is NO smell
3. There are NO symptoms including "fevers, headaches." anything that pertains to my body, it is all down in my vag.
4. I have 3-4, small red bumps around the opening of my Vagina, not on the rim part, but like that in that deep part of your vagina that's hard to look at...
5. It BURNS AND ITCHES SO BAD but really only when touched...
6. It used to burn to pee, but that went away after 24 hours.
7. It is NOT spreading.
8. I tried a 3 day Vagistat yeast infection treatment and it didn't do anything.
9. The bumps DO NOT look anything like Herpes or Genital Warts, they do not bleed, they look like "extra flakes of skin" ??
10. NEITHER OF MY PARTNERS ARE EXPERIENCING ANY SYMPTOMS.

This is embarrassing but I found a pea sized lump in my vagina. I'm still a virgin and I have my period and have had them for about 3 years and their normal but I first noticed this when I tried to use a tampon but it hurt. And then a few days ago I tried to finger myself (my friend suggested that I shout try it) and I only used one finger and I felt small bumps and it felt like when I tried to use the tampon... But like I said I have never had sex and the pea sized lump freaks me out heaps and I'm not sure if its because I'm a virgin or yeah please help me I'm to scared to see a doctor or tell my mother!!!
Also my hymen doesn't fully cover my vagina "hole" but it looks small but yeah anyways.

My vaginal opening is too small that it can take only a finger. I'm a virgin...I don't want to use dilators or sex toys neither I want to masturbate. My bf was not able to insert his penis into my vagina due to tiny and small vaginal opening and I was very wetty too. How to overcome this.

A few days ago my boyfriend and i went to the beach. I left my suit on all day after swimming, and we walked everywhere. I'm pretty sure there was sand in my suit also. We had sex that night like most nights. The next morning my vagina was sore- externally not internally. It's been about 3 days, and now it feels like there a little cut right where the lips meet at the top, and it is extremely sore right outside the bottom of my vaginal opening. When i pee, the urine hits my vagina and it burns like crazy! I also have about 10 small bumps that are beneath the skin, they almost feel like zits, but are not painful at all. Those also didn't show up until yesterday. My boyfriend has been my only sexual partner for over 6 months, and before that i had sex once over a year ago. So i doubt it's an STD. This is the first problem I've had down there so if it's something obvious.

16 year old male here. I have a big lump on my penis just under the neck, on the top of the shaft, and my external urethral meatus appears to be swollen. Whenever I masturbate, the big lump starts to hurt.

I have discovered a small lump right on the opening of my anus.
It is about the size of a pea and looks almost blue or black in colour.
It feels exactly the same as a pea - solid behind the skin covering it.
I am extremely worried as I don’t know what it is. It is very sore, especially when passing stools.
Initially it wasn't painful at all and now it is. Yesterday I got it little open using surgical blade and small amount of blood came out.

A few weeks ago, I noticed I was bleeding slightly after I let my boyfriend finger me (sorry if that sounds vulgar, I just really need answers). At first, I thought it might be where he didn't actually break the entire hymen when we first had sex (note we are sexually active). I noticed the bleeding a few more times after that incident. Finally, I decided to look around my vagina while the bleeding was still occurring. I noticed what looked like a small cut near the opening of my vagina. I told my boyfriend about it and he thought maybe his fingernail caught it or there was too much friction. We decided to not do anything sexual, and we did that was about a week and a half. What's confusing to me are a few things: it doesn't bleed during sex, only after he fingers me; it doesn't do it every time he fingers me, only half of the time; it burns when I go to pee after he's done that to me; neither of us have ever had a cold sore (I asked him when I read about guys passing it from going down on their girl, although I'm not sure about the other type of herpes); I'm always wet throughout the duration of the activities.
I kept reading and the only things I got were too much friction or not enough lubricant or herpes or recurring infections. And nothing matched what I was experiencing correctly. Anyone have any ideas? Honestly it looks like a tiny cut or maybe a raw spot, I noticed it bled from two or three small areas. It resembles a paper cut or something that was rubbed too much.

About 4 months ago I found a black mark on my labia, next to vaginal opening, it isn't painful, and hasn't changed size or colour during the time I've know it is there. Yesterday a lump appeared next to my clitorus it hurts when touched, is quite firm and is the same colour as surrounding skin. Will it go away? Is there something wrong with me? Please help I am really worried, oh and I am 15, not sure if that helps.

Tiny, red bumps appear on shaft of penis on and off again. About a mm in diameter. No pain, no itchiness. I've recently been tested and everything came back negative.
They show up in my pubic area, too. Could they just be clogged pores/ingrown hairs?
They first appeared about 5 months ago. I had protected sex with a girl I didn't know well. She did also performed oral sex on me. First symptoms showed up about 20 days after.
They normally appear for about a week, then disappear. Went to the doctor and got checked for a variety of STDs including herpes -- everything came back normal.
I've been symptom free for about 2 months now, but it looks like they're back. I haven't had sex with anyone since that encounter. Help?

I am 26 year old virgin and having vaginal infection, it was swollen and itchy with thick white odorless discharge. I went to gynecologist and told symptoms without any examination cause i was requested her not to do so and she gave me candistat for candida infection treatment. Now the itchiness and discharge is almost gone, swelling is no more but it is reddish pink from inside what i checked by taking images, and I can see a lump kinda thing at the opening. I am afraid if it is some kind of bad lump that need some attention. I can attach the image here.

I'm 15 and I have this weird fleshy bump in the entrance of my vagina. I am a virgin, although I do masterbate and know that I have broken my hymen. It doesn't hurt when touched but if I press on it , I feel like I'm gonna pee. Is it my g-spot? It is also visible to the eye. It sort of looks like a bulge.

I'm 17 years old and I am not sexual active and I am a virgin. I have an important question about my body, my hymen to be exact. At least I think so. Anyways for years I've always had this lump looking thing between my urethra and the top of my vaginal opening, it's soft, I think it only hurts a little when it's touched with dry skin which is hardly, It's never bothered me but lately I've been wondering if that's even suppose to be there, I urinate fine without pain or burning and I get my period normally too. Now to describe it better, there's my urethra and then connected is the lump that's fairly large, not BIG but if a doctor checked me; its impossible not to see, then it connects inside with my vaginal opening but just the top of it, then I have a normal vaginal opening below it, and I can see what looks like my hymen, looks normal to me there. I've used tampons with no problems and such but I'm thinking if I have sex in the future, it would be painful or impossible to just pass it without rubbing it which would hurt I'm thinking. So about 2 years back I went to the doctors because I was sure I had a yeast infection, they checked me out down there and did a pap smear, I didn't mention the lump because I was there for another reason but the doctor also didn't say anything about it so I had been relieved and thought it must be normal then but when she put the metal thing during the pap smear; I felt it hit the lump and it hurt but then after she pulled out; I felt no pain at all, but then I think about how it would be if I had sex in the future and how it might be a problem, I just can't figure out what it is. I'm thinking of just getting a pelvic exam in general and have my doctor just check that all out to make sure I'm fine but I honestly feel completely alright and just want to know what it is.

I recently had a yeast infection and about five days ago it went away. The next day I had sex with my boyfriend a few times and was sore for a few days. Today I just noticed a tiny hard bump on my outer labia. He is clean, and I have had unprotected sex once with an ex at a party about a month ago....he was clean when we were together and had told me earlier he hadn't slept with anyone since me. I really don't think it's herpes, but what else could it be. Nothing itches, nothing burns, nothing hurts, but there is a solid bump, I was trying to squeeze it to see if it's an ingrown hair. I don't have insurance right now otherwise I would go to the doctor, especially after the unprotected sex. Help please? What could this be?
