I have custody of my 5 year old granddaughter, and she is displaying signs of autism or asperger's.....could this be related in any way to her mother's use of Paxil or marijuana during her pregnancy?

View 8 RepliesMy son is aged 2.8years. when he was 1.5 years he could speak some words, some time last year January the house was changed. after the new one came the boy couldn't speak the words he used to speak and again you could find him seating some where looking as if he is stressed. When i arrive home from work he could come running to the door but this days he is not concerned at all. When i speak to him the words he used to he can't speak them again, You call him and he doesn't respond. I'm a worried Father, What do i do, i want him to remember what he used to do, to say. Where did we go wrong in bringing the boy up. He is turning three May 29th, he can only speak just one world "hello" he repeats that all the time. Is there a medication i can give him to change the situation?

View 1 Repliesmy grandson is 4 years old and has been diagnosed for 2 years now with low functioning nonverbal autism, times can be hard but also very rewarding we are lucky he loves his kissed and cuddles but on his terms lol , the meltdowns can be mild but also very severe especially when it comes to cutting his hair , we are unable to put scissors near him for fear he will get hurt so we use clippers it is torture to see him in such a state , has anyone got any tips of how best to get this done without having to use so much force and upset on him any tips will be welcome

I am still "trembling" every time I had to do some things or to go somewhere. Friend of mine told me that Paxil helped her with hers problems. I have no knowledge of hers diagnose, but I wonder, could Paxil be used for my anxiety?

View 5 RepliesI am trying to deal with my depression and anxiety as best as I can. I have never thought that something like this could happen to me, I was always a calm person. But ever since my husband died two years ago I cannot get a hold of myself. It started like a regular depression that came and went but now it is a full time condition. Since I have been taking Paxil, I am starting to feel much better. Can you take Paxil sporadically? I mean, do I have to take it when I'm feeling fine?

View 2 Repliesi'm wondering what the physical consequences of alcohol and paxil are? i've read and been told everything from death to increased drowsiness, but have personally found that most of my problems occur after drinking, not during. i have noticed my heart beating slower, but assumed it was because i was relaxed.
lately i have been dealing with sleep disturbances and mental confusion, as well as anxiety. recently my paxil dosage was increased from 20mg to 30mg. i drink, on average, a moderate dose of whisky a night. (roughly half of a pint, to be exact).
I have been taking paxil for a few years, I love it!! but the weight gain has been making me very upset!
Please help! My doctor only says "stay active" I feel that I am active. Can you tell me what your definition of "active" is?
What supplements, vitamins or exercise will help to eliminate this weight gain side effect?

View 1 RepliesI figured I had OCD but not that bad and I suffered from anxiety and depression on and off all of my life. But, this latest illness really got me feeling very anxious and depressed. I tried Paxil but I built up a tolerance to it. After some time, like months of dealing with this for quite some time, I finally ran upon Lexapro; Which from what I've read works well. Why has this hit me later in life like this I'm 59 and appear mid forty's. My question is why have I got so ill with anxiety and depression this time? I have lost a lot of weight as well. Hoping this lexapro works for me. And why has this happened to me now so bad? I dread every day. Can anyone one respond to this?
I actually dread every day, the only time I feel a bit better is at night, but the next morning there it is - anxiety and depression. No relief till this new medication (Lexapro) kicks in. I'm exhausted.
And yes I have xanax, but if I take one in the day it puts me to sleep and I wake up with a panic attack from hell. But at night I take a xanax and can fall off to sleep and sleep 8 hours but I have wild dreams. Hope someone can respond to this...sorry for all the information just wanted to make it all clear up front.
I took Paxil for panic attacks three years ago for 30 days and then again for a year. Now, I am reaching third week without Paxil. I heard that the longer it took a person to become used to it at the beginning the longer it takes to withdraw and I am very worried if this is true. I feel nausea, seizures and dizziness. I need something to relieve the symptoms of Paxil withdrawal. This is the first time I have this experience with medication.
