Has anyone else had sciatica pain when pregnant or not? And what do you recommend for relief? My left leg has been hurting like a sharp pain with tingling and numbness off and on. I don't know what to do to help since Tylenol didn't help...

I lost 4 stones in weight when my dad suddenly died, the weight went from around my bum and thigh area. I've since put weight on - not as much as I lost.
I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago.
I'm told that it sounds like sciatica - from people who have the same thing and my doc said the same.
Recently it has got much worse, after walking for a few minutes both legs go numb from the foot up, I have trouble with my balance anyway (MD, Surgery etc) this makes it worse. I'm also in pain if I stand still - basically I can't, I have to sit or walk (i use a stick to help with inner ear balance trouble, which docs / specialist can do nothing about)
My doc has said "it will go away" - yes, right, when?
So I've decided to bite the bullet and move up to 20 mg after being on 10mg for 4 months.
The side effects aren't as bad there manageable which is a plus.
I do have pain/numbness/tingling in the back right hand side of my head (I think it's where the mind is located) I was wondering if this will go away as it's driving me crazy day in day out .
I am a RN and I have had years of low back pain with a history of herniated
discs from L3-S1. These symptoms would aggravate me from time to time but, being a nurse, with a
familial history of arthritis I thought it was just par for the course. Until three months ago when i
developed sciatica pain down my left leg and it was present every day, and it ruined my summer.
I couldn't walk without pain, bend without pain and basically was bedridden and depressed all
summer. I am healthy, took NO meds up to this point and I was always a pretty active person. I finally
decided to have the surgery. On Monday 09/30/13 I had a microdiscectomy and was pleasantly
surprised with how easy it was to go home the next day. My pain was minimal, honestly, I do not
think I even needed the Oxycodone, it wasn't that bad. However, I did need the Valium, I noticed
the incision was sore in the am and was happy to have the Valium. By day 3 post op, I was off all
of the narcotic meds and only taking ibuprofen and tylenol (valium at night). Day 5, I was walking, no numbness, no tingling, doing fine... Until I coughed. I literally re herniated from a cough and ended
up back in the hospital undergoing a second round of emergency surgery to remove the extruded
disc. I now have numbness in my left foot and toes that I am so sad about. I have read and read on
line and all that I have heard is that it very rarely goes away, yet the surgeon says it will? Who do I
believe? And how long does it take? I just want my life back (much like everyone here) so, any
information you can provide me with would be very much appreciated. I'm still not having any pain to speak of so, for those of you worried about post op pain, it's really really not bad at all!
I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my second child and I'm getting this sharp pain with period cramping in my right side and then every time it happens I feel like I'm peeing I go to the bathroom and it's not like a flooded my pants but there is a tiny bit of fluid each time anyone experience this?

View 1 RepliesHas anyone experienced sciatica pain? I went to my doctor yesterday for my 20 week check up and told her about the pain because it has started a couple days before. She referred to me a physical therapist for sciatica but who knows how long. Anyone have tips/tricks to help with this? Should/when should I call my doctor again since the pain has gotten worse. I can't move,walk or stand without the pain being terrible. Defiantly a 9/10 at least.
View 2 RepliesI had this problem with my first pregnancy from about week 14 until like week 20, and then off and on from there.
We'll it's back with a vengeance, it's killing me. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting, standing, walking. I'll move just right and I'm almost either in tears or afraid to move because the pain is so bad. I have a 14 month old and trying to chase after her or carrying her is becoming extremely difficult. I'm afraid I'll drop her.
My doctor didn't have many suggestions for relief. We just moved and I have no idea where my heating pad is.
Any ladies experience this and what did yall do to help alleviate the pain
I wonder if anyone else has had numbness and tingling in extremities? My GP had thought that the issues in my right hand were due to carpal tunnel and related to my swollen elbows. I had thought the numb toes on my right foot I had in winter was due to raynauds. But it's summer now, my elbows are much better, but I'm waking every night from numbness and tingling in left and right hands and right toes and heel.
I don't see this listed as a side effect of plaquenil or as a symptom of lupus. It's not a huge deal, but does result in less sleep. Does anyone else have this or know the cause?
I am forty five years old and was given a confirmed diagnosis of RRMS in 2009. Since my dx I have been on one DMD, Rebif. I was on it for a year and had to stop due to the side effects. Right now I am med free except for vitamin D supplements. For the past 3 months I have had numbness and intermittent tingling in my right ear canal. I feel numb above my ear (mastoid bone) as well as behind ear. The numbness does not go away however I do experience tingling intermittently. I also have reduced sensation on the right side of my forehead and head. My ear feels full and the sensations I feel are strange. I notice it more at night.
My primary doctor and my MS specialist are not aware of my latest symptoms because I have had sensory issues for years and I am assuming this is all MS related. I am wondering if anyone else here has had similar symptoms. I have no pain just the numbness and tingling.
I will be seeing my specialist sometime in the New Year to review my MRI of brain and C spine. It was ordered almost a year ago (routine) MS doc just wants to see the disease process as he wants me on another DMD. I just had the MRI a week before Christmas.
Having MS is difficult because whenever I have health symptoms I automatically think it is MS related and so I just leave it alone and don't go to the doctor. I am worried that perhaps I could be hindering my health by assuming everything is MS related. Anyways, thanks for reading this I have been lurking for some time and today I decided to post.
I'm a 41 yr old who has been suffering with tingling and numbness in my face, hands and feet and my tongue deviates slightly to the right. I have also had periods of dizziness. I have been hospitalized twice in the last month. Every test has come back negative... One neurologist suggested I could be having Tia while another said its not. I have a strong feeling that my menstrual cycle may play a part in this. I was looking at post from 2011 and their were other women who have similar symptoms!

Has anyone else had this problem with their tongue and lips I need reassurance that it is not something sinister.

I don't have any pain. I also have a slight case of scoliosis. Its not visible but it might be a contribution to the numbness in my leg?

View 2 RepliesI'm a 30 year old female who lately has been going through a tough time. I have always been a worrier, especially when it comes to health. Since I was 9 years old I've worried about different diseases (especially after googling) which made me convinced my life would end several times in my life. Right now I'm going thru a bad phase which I don't know what to do. It all started last year when I started getting lots of numbness and tingling in face and legs. Then in November I started getting left sided chest pain which is 24/7 stabbing pains. I've been to emergency twice since Feb. And they did EKG, xray and blood tests which supposedly came out fine. Then, in February I started getting heart palpitations, skipping beats. At this point I was convinced I have heart disease. 3 weeks ago the mild dizziness started where I felt I was gonna faint. During the time it started I remember going out to eat with my hubby and kids and I literally felt like I was not there, as if I was in another planet, everything felt unreal. I've been really tired too. I've been seeing a cardiologist who did an EKG, heart Echo. And tomorrow I'm having a stress test and a holter monitor for 24 hours. He thinks its anxiety. But I am not convinced. I'm just extremely scared of dying because I have 3 children who are all under 7 years old. By the way, I did want to mention that from October thru March I was going thru a big worry with the law. Don't want to get into details but I was very worried for 5 months that I was going to go to jail. Everything turned out fine however, I don't know if that worry triggered physical anxiety symptoms.

View 4 RepliesI am 41 years old and have been taking this drug for the past 7 years (As at April '09) I suffer from all the symptoms; sickness, numbness, tingling etc. I forget to take it more than I remember. The advice I give is:- unless it affects you as a driver then don't worry about it but if you are concerned then speak to your doctor. I am a professional driver (Coaches) and if I went off sick every time I had a side effect, I would never work again. Then I would get bored.
