Has anyone had or have a short cervix? If so how short and what did your doctor tell you or recommend?
View 2 RepliesI've tried every way recommended to kick start this labor. I'm 38 weeks & 3 days. I'm 4 centimeters dilated but can't go into labor, my cervix are still thick. How can I get them to thin out?
View 2 RepliesOk well my doctor said I dilated 2 and then she said something about my cervix is thinned out 70% I'm a first time mom so whAt did she mean when she said that about my cervix
View 2 RepliesAt 38 weeks and 6 days I was checked yesterday for the first time. My doctor seemed so amazed at the fact that my son's head is all the way down but I wasn't too amazed at the horrible pain I had to endure for him to get to my cervix :( Basically my son's head is sitting in front of my cervix. I read stories on women having their cervix pulled to the front during labor and it sounds like it hurts worse than how I felt getting checked and childbirth put together.
Does anyone have either of these or know of someone who does and was able to go into labor naturally, were able to deliver vaginally? Or did it just end in an induction and C-section? If you did deliver vaginally were you able to get pregnant again without big complications? I have this and my doctor wants to induce because I am due tomorrow and I still haven't even softened, but I have a large chance even without inducing that I will have to have a C-section no matter. Every female on my mom's side has it and all had to have C-sections, except my mom who had my brother naturally and should not of and had to be artificially inseminated(sp) with my sister and I because she was not able to get pregnant on her own after.
View 5 RepliesI just had my 38 week appointment and my doctor said that I'm 1 Centimeter dilated and my cervix is soft . Most people are upset when they are this far but only 1cm dilated but I'm really happy ! I'm a first time young mom and think that I've really progressed . Last week I wasn't dilated at all . Does this mean I could go into labor before my due date ?
View 2 RepliesAnyone dilating early? I'm 36 weeks and I felt like I would be starting to dilate but nope. Got checked today, the doctor said I'm still closed but cervix is thinning out.

View 2 RepliesLong story short I am miserable and ended up in labor and delivery last night at 38 and 4 due to being light headed dizzy nauseous and seeing spots. They checked me and the nurse said my cervix was "extremely posterior" but didn't explain anything about what this could mean. Apparently I am only 1cm dilated and 70% effaced as well. Anyone else been told this or know what it means? Am I not going to be able to go into labor on my own?
View 9 RepliesI've been having slight pinching pains around my cervix area the last few days and today they've been way more frequent and seem to be getting slightly more intense, just wondering if this is normal

View 8 RepliesI smoked some cannabis about 5 days ago and that night my heart starting racing, burning a little. It was doing it for a while so I went to sleep, and when I woke up my chest hurt it wasn't pain that bothered me, I could live with the pain because it wasn't bad. But I was worried, and now it still hurts on the left side, and every now and then I get a little pain in my head. None of this is pain that really bothers me, I'm just worried what should I do?
I've bin told by people that smoke it too that it will go soon, I just want to make sure.

View 10 RepliesI have very large fibroids, and I've been offered a few options by different doctors. The first surgeon I saw recommended open surgery. The risks associated with major open surgery are serious. The first, and biggest concern, for me is the risk of waking up without a uterus. I'm quite attached to my uterus. My second concern is the amount of time I'd be out of work. I freelance, and my job is very physical. I will not be able to return quickly, and I don't get paid time off.
I was not on any type of insurance when, March, I found out the problems I'm experiencing are due to fibroids, so I went on Medicaid to pay for medications. Several doctors have recommended that I go on Lupron, which is $800 to $1,200 a shot.
Being on Medicaid, I'm fearful that I won't get the same level of treatment post-op. A few nights in a hospital charity wing can be deadly. Let's face it.
I went to get a second opinion from a doctor who referred me to a the head of robotic surgery at the hospital. She told me my fibroids can be removed laparoscopically. I researched the procedure, and the surgeon I was referred to, and I'm on the fence about what I should do. The surgeon would need to break up the fibroid in order to get it out, and when the FDA began discouraging its use she was quoted in an article touting it. "It needs more research." Well, I'm on public assistance. I'm on public assistance and I'm not stupid.
I'm between a rock and a hard place here, because none of my options are good. Morcellation spreads cancer in 1 out of every 350 myomectomies, which is why the machine is being recalled.
Do I take that gamble? Open surgery sounds terrible, and it will set me back for a long time--and that's if everything goes right! So should I risk laparoscopic surgery and hope that I get on with my life safely, or do I get the traditional major surgery? My friends and family are pushing me to get a laparoscopic myomectomy but I have reservations. I've also been exposed to a lot of chemicals, because I'm a painter. I've since been more diligent, if not militant, about safety and protection... but exposure is exposure. I worry about it. Certain types of cancers do run in my family, ovarian, uterine, cervical, etc. not being among them. Other endocrine related cancers do run in my family, along with diabetes and endocrine conditions not related to cancer. My mother had endometriosis, and both my mother and sister would get ovarian cysts. I, however, do not.
