View 4 RepliesI know that fatigue is part of pregnancy, but it I feel like I could sleep all day and night. It is even hard for me to stay awake at work, and I'm on my feet most of the day. By the time I get home I want to do nothing at all. Normal?
View 3 Repliesim 28 weeks 6 days. I can't go to sleep at night anymore. I toss and turn all night. I can't get comfortable anymore. Any suggestions on what can help?
View 2 RepliesI posted in epilepsy earlier. I couldn't find the sleep boards. I am suspicious I have epilepsy but I wanted to see if anyone else has experience with this. I have severe sleep myoclonus that occurs every night all night. It causes me and jerk and I usually see a flash of light and hear a clicking sound. This occurs over and over so I hardly ever sleep. Does anyone have any experience with this?
View 1 RepliesI'm lucky to get 3 hours of sleep even with taking ambien. I've tried every natural supplement there is. Within the past 3 weeks I wake up at 3am no matter what time I go to bed like clockwork.
Feels like a shot of adrenaline or cortisol at that time. Even though I'm exhausted my mind will not shutdown.
I have been diagnosed with hepatitis A 10 days & now am recovering from it but for the past 10 days am not getting any at night I could sleep for atleast an hour continuously is this a symptom of this infection ?
View 2 RepliesSo my main issue when dealing with my PTSD is the really vivid terrifying nightmares. I was controlling them for a while with trazodone, which I will admit I did not have a prescription for and received from a friend, but as I really don't feel like becoming addicted to medications, I've stopped taking it for the time being. Most of the other symptoms of my PTSD have so far not affected my day to day life but I cannot get a good night's sleep to save my life right and I was wondering if there was any type of meditation or something that you might recommend? I don't have the time or money right now to see a therapist or trauma expert.
View 2 RepliesI don't have any problem falling asleep, the longest it takes if 20 minutes sometimes. But I ONLY sleep for 5 hours, maybe 6 if I'm lucky. So I try to make myself stay up until 11pm so I can get up at my normal time of 5am. This is very hard because I will usually fall asleep in front of the tv around 9/930.I get up from the couch around 1030/11 and go to my bed, but then wake up at 3 am like clockwork. Last night I fell asleep in front of the tv at 930, got into my bed at 1030, but then woke up at 230! I usually can't fall back asleep either, or maybe dose in and out if I'm lucky. My mind is already awake then.I tried Melatonin years ago, and it worked for the first couple of days to a week. But then I built up a resistance to it and I had to keep increasing the dosage until it didn't help at all anymore.I have gone through different prescribed meds that didn't really work. The one that worked the best(Trazodone) had a side effect that I didn't like(woke up with an extremely dry mouth), and I built up a resistance to that too. I just wanted to see if there were any other meds out there, OTC or prescription, that may work?
View 1 RepliesI'm a 40 year old female who has dealt with palpitations and set my whole life. I had a successful catheter ablation back in 1999. I have always had a run of pvcs from time to time, but this time for about 6 months or so, they are constant. I even have runs of pvcs that will last literally 30 seconds only to straighten out for a second, and start up again. I can't sleep at night, because they are constant. I am miserable just waiting on them to pop back up. I work a full time high stress job. Not sure how much more I can take.
View 1 RepliesI've been diagnosed with G.A.D and have serious problems sleeping. Was taking 3 mg of diazepam for the past fortnight but have run out last night im just wondering if i can take 1mg of lorazepam yo help me sleep tonight before i see my doctor again tomorrow. Just wanna know if its safe due to my anxiety.
View 3 RepliesI've been on Propranolol 80mg for my migraines which have worked very well. One issue with them is that I can wake up during the night and I have great difficulty in getting back to sleep. This results in me being quite tired during the day, as I drive 45mins to get to the office and sometimes 4-5 hours if I'm on site then it was a concern.
I saw the doctor on Friday and he suggested trying Pizotifen, he told me they can cause drowsiness but if I take it at night then I should be OK by the morning.
I've been reading through the experiences here and I'm not too sure about taking them now, I haven't been to the pharmacy with the prescription and I'm unsure whether to bother.
Hi since last ear in April I've had really bad anxiety . Its to the point where I wake up and in my head I say ' whats the point of living if I dont eat much , if I'm constantly thinking of things , and the fear of me dying soon ' . Is this normal ? I'm scared to sleep at night cause I'm afraid I won't wake up ! I often pray to God that he doesn't take me or neither of my family members yet . Not till we're 100 !! But I feel like he will take me soon . This is really stressing me out ! To the point where my appetite is off and I overthink so much . I'm in tears.
View 1 RepliesIts been almost two months since i had a good night sleep..Since then, i'm lucky if i can have 2 to 3 continous hrs of sleep..I tried relaxing myself, followed some techniques and even meditate. but with no help..my mind is so hyped up thinking about almost everything..i need to have a good night sleep because i'm working as a senior lecturer, how can i perform well in front of my class if i'm like this?? View 3 RepliesI have been experiencing hallucination when waking up suddenly in the night. The hallucination is usually a huge spider in the room and I always wake up people in the house screaming "look!" or "Oh my God". And in a matter of a minute or so the image disappears. I have ignored these hallucinations for sometime, but recently I hallucinated that their was someone in the room. I panicked but I could not move my entire right side. I some how managed to wake my partner and I could still not move. When I finally hard arm and leg movement back, it was difficult to move my muscles and felt I could not control them. I gets bouts of tiredness during the day and nap a lot. Is this a sign of narcolepsy? My grandmother had it. Should I worry?
View 1 RepliesI'm 16 years old, and i've been suffering from insomnia for almost a year now, and recently i've been suffering from sleep maintenance as well, with me waking up 3-4 times a night. It feels like i'm sleeping very lightly, and i always dream when i sleep now. I don't know what to do anymore. Im seeing a psychologist today, and i hope she can help me. My appearance, health and grades are going down because of this. It's making me very anxious. Even if i relax, i can't fall asleep sometimes. I've started exercising 2-3 hours before bed and it helps me fall asleep a bit more quickly but doesn't help me stay asleep.
View 2 RepliesI have not had a good night sleep in over 20 years. I am female 45 years old. I have had pains in my body and also have night sweats. Where I have been only just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in Aug 2014 and also
I know I am not going through my Menopause, I just can't get a good night sleep. I don't like to take meds but have tried in the past and also have tried herbal remedies. I also have tried with having a bath before going to bed, as well as having a milky drink before going to sleep.
I have also had CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) which helps with mindfulness and breathing techniques but just can't get my sleep.
This is the third time this has happened and I don't understand it.
I wake up in the morning and can't remember what time of day it is, have I woken from a nap? is it morning or night?
This morning I woke up feeling it was evening and it was 6.45 in the morning. I am really worried about this wondering if I could have dementia etc. I am hypothyroid and have Graves and Hashimoto's, would it be anything to do with thyroid?
I am an intelligent person who likes to keep busy. The only thing I can credit it to was perhaps an upsetting argument with my husband last night, but as I say it's happened a few times now.
I've been having magnesium baths for a while (epsom salts). I do get anxiety and not only do the baths calm me, it really helps with a good night sleep, aching muscles but the next morning helps with going to the loo too!
it is thought to be a natural detox too, help rid of toxins from your body (deodorant chemicals etc)
I buy a 25kg bag as its significantly cheaper but you can get smaller bags just to try.
i have 3 a week and add about 300-400g per bath and submerge as much of my body as i can for at least 20mins.
magnesium is a natural mineral which our body needs. You can make a drink with it apparently which is a VERY effective laxative (I haven't done this)
can you help me, when I sleep in the afternoon I get cold and wake up shivering but when I sleep at night I get to hot and have to sleep on top of the blankets
View 1 RepliesLast week I had what can only be described as my first Night Terror - it fit the bill from the research I've done online. Last night though, something happened which has really unnerved me - I'd been watching TV with my wife and kids and fell asleep on the sofa. I woke up, very sleepy, and went to the toilet. In the toilet I started coughing, I was struggling to breathe, and then I blanked out completely. When I became "aware" again, I was on my knees in the hallway, crying like a baby in my wife's arms. All I can remember is the coughing, a feeling of desperately NEEDING to escape, and that's it.
My wife tells me that they heard a massive noise from the bathroom, rushed out to see what was happening, and I was literally smashing up the bathroom by flailing my arms, and then sunk to my knees and crawled out into the hallway.
Now, I was awake (although sleepy) when this started, so... and, I just don't know. Am I potentially a danger to my family? I have no control over this, how far can it go? How can this happen when I am awake?
Also, this morning when I woke up, it was almost on me again, from waking up, I shot out of bed, panicking, breathing ridiculously hard, right on the edge - luckily i was able to reign it in and stop it from developing.
Help please, I have no history of panicking, I am a man who really doesn't fear anything, and suddenly I am scared out of my wits about what is happening. The "after-feeling" from these "attacks" leave me shaking, terrified, checking the dark corners of the rooms, and this is really not me.
I'm 14 years old and yesterday school started after two weeks of holidays. I went to bed at 11 PM and woke up at 4 AM. I tried to go back to sleep but I just couldn't. At 6 AM I got up and got ready for school. After school I was really tired and took an hour long nap, but I was still extremely tired. I went to bed at 9 PM and fell asleep in a second. I woke up at 2:30 AM and tried my best to fall asleep, but it didn't work. Its 6 AM right now and Ive done some homework, as I couldnt do them yesterday because I was so tired. The thing is, this didn't happen in my holiday, and I get really cranky when I don't get enough sleep. Do I have insomnia?
