Pain At The Back Of Eyes - Computer Use?
Mar 2, 2016
For over 18 months now I've suffered from a pain at the back of my eyes when using computer monitors, TV screens or other kinds of backlit LED screens (eg ATMs). It started suddenly when new, larger monitors were introduced at my workplace. It's not eye strain, because it happens immediately - more as if light or radiation is reaching the back of my eye that shouldn't. I've had my eyes checked numerous times and nothing shows up as being wrong, although I suddenly developed a cluster of 'floaters' in my right eye at the same time, when I had none before. I use blue filter glasses and they help a little (but not enough), and I've tried anti-glare and radiation-filtering screens, sunglasses, orange-tinted specs, etc, and just about every kind of eye drop known to man. It's been suggested that high-speed flicker may be involved but I can't understand how it could cause pain in a matter of seconds. I've been trying to work out what's wrong for ages, because it's affecting my work and home life. Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. I'm wondering if my eyes have been damaged in a way that can't easily be detected?

I have had a referred pain in the back for many years now which is worsened by sitting on the computer.
The pain is in the left neck but when I massage the area just below the left scapula it disappears. I also find that lifting weights help. I'm guessing my muscles are in poor shape, I'm pretty lean.
Here is a diagram of the area. [URL...]
I have been to doctors, physiotherapists, chiro and masseuses. All just disregard the area and also about the weight training suggesting it has nothing to do with it. They start cracking bones and massaging other areas and I feel no better.
There must be a link! Anyone care to shed some light on this?

I know that when you stare at a computer screen for long hours it causes your eyes to dry up, but does long computer use causes permanent dry eyes? so even if you stopped using the computer you will still have dry eyes because your eyes tear production has been permanently damaged or something?

About 2 week's ago I took 2 perc within a night and the next day I got sick, I thought from the pills, but than I was nauseous and have been for the most part ever since. My left side mid to lower back started hurting approx a week ago and it's gotten much worse last night and now I'm having pain in my upper right abdomen as if the pain moved. I'm on muscle relaxers for my back already but it's not affecting/helping my new pain though and the new pain doesn't feel the same. I was just curious if anyone had any idea what it might be, some say kidneys but does that pain or can it move from my back to my abdomen?

I'm 18 and i was diagnosed with scoliosis at a young age. I wore a brace to correct the curvature for about 2-3 years. The brace would put pressure on my hips and after some time I would have pain in my lower back, down my buttocks, down the back of
the leg and into the toes. It's sharp and searing and sometimes there's tingling and numbness. Could this be sciatica caused by the brace? Is it possible that it pinched the nerves and caused permanent damage? All I know is that it is extremely painful and hard to get to go away..

I have had Fordyce spots since I was 11 and I'm 14 now. Since then they have spread to my back, lips, eyes, nose, and all over shaft and scrotum. I know they're harmless but its just so hard to be confident like this. I have not told anyone about this except my best friend. Turns out he had them too! So anyone out there who has these stupid things I feel you.

Two days ago I was in the gym exercising my shoulders and whilst I was lifting weights, I moved my back whilst seated and I heard a 'click' sound in my back, followed by pain in that area of my lower middle back. I immediately stopped exercising and haven't gone to the gym since.
I don't know what I was thinking by moving my back like that, but since it happened there is a lot less pain and it feels like the pain may be totally gone in the next 48-72 hours hopefully.
On the night of the injury I found it hard to turn onto my side when in bed, but now I can do it without any problems. Now I can only feel some pain when I turn my upper body to the left or right or if I try to stretch my lower back.
Would anyone be able to give me some advice such as what type of injury I have or whether this may have a long term effect? Is it a very positive sign that the pain is decreasing each day?

2. B/L mild facet arthropathy is seen at L4/L5 and L3/L4 levels with tiny anterior paradiscal osteophytes at these level.
3. L5 vertebra us sacralised with rudimentary L5-S1 disc.

I have had issues with a frequent urination and a constant pressure on my bladder for over a year now. But since January of this year I have been experiencing extreme pain in my low low abdomen (like groin/cervix area). The pain also resides in my stomach and back. My ribs are sore to touch and I am constantly achy. I have been to the doctors who have done internal exams and say that everything LOOKS ok. I am 20 years old and my periods are regular. The pain is becoming a real problem and I'm becoming increasingly concerned. I have had ultrasounds on my pelvis and kidneys and they were fine. I've been put on meds to stabilise my bladder, but the gynaecologist won't see me for another 4 months. I know there is something further wrong with me - I can't understand why the pain keeps occurring. I don't enjoy having sex due to pain and a constant discomfort and pressure-like feeling. I'm starting to get very depressed as there is no diagnosis being made and all the tablets I am given do nothing.

I am 29 and Female. I have been under a great deal of stress lately. I have been having some minor health problems that cause my mind to go to that dark place. I am having very irregular periods and GERD/Gallbladder issues. Also, I am planning a wedding and my mother was just diagnosed with Lung cancer about 2 weeks ago.
My upper back across the "meaty" part of my shoulders has been so tight and painful. If my fiance rubs them, he finds all kinds of trigger points that are so painful to the touch I can't breathe. In the middle of my upper back I feel a sharp pain sometimes. My neck muscles are tight as well as the tops of my arms down to my elbows. On occasion my fingers tingle.
As of the past 2 days I feel a pressure on my chest right below my collar bone. If I yawn I can feel my throat muscles get sore. The very top of my sternum is tender to the touch. It almost feels bruised.
I did a little bit of research and it seems that all of these problems are connected. The scalene muscle group can cause all of these problems. I am going to see a massage therapist on thursday. Hopefully I get some relief.
Another bit of info, I have a desk job. I am at a computer for 10 hours a day. I work 60 + hours a week. I had a chest CT scan with contrast in July and it came back clear. ( unrelated incident ) So I believe I can rule out anything major. The scan is only 3 months old.
My question is; has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to ease your symptoms? I have tried muscle rub so far. Doesn't help much...I am going to ice the areas today and see if that helps.

I have a pain in between my diaphragm which leads through to my upper back, I have had for approximately 3 months but getting worse, if I lie on my stomach it hurts in both front and back. I have read all sorts of things that it might be from hernia to liver/kidney problem and gallstones... I did have a small incident where I strained myself trying to hold a motorbike up from falling down and I guess I have had the problem from then on, if I stretch out sometimes I will hear a click which radiates from the front to the back, if I push in my diaphragm it hurts. I live in a third world country so and worried about going to doctor.

I've had horrible back pain for over a year now due to a herniated disc at L5/S1 and a bulge at L4/L5. It's gotten better at various times during the interim, but I've never been able to bodybuilder/workout again. I usually do not have sciatica (only severe back pain) but every time I re-aggravate it I do get sciatica that shoots into my right heel. I visited my neurosurgeon and he told me he does not think I would be a candidate for a microdiscectomy because my primary symptom is not sciatica - but I want some second opinions. Did a microdiscectomy help your back pain from the herniation and not just the sciatica?

Small but geometric -ish shape. This changes in 1/2 hour or more, the shape gets larger forming a getting larger approximate 'C' shape to the left of center. It is almost like me seeing a crude kaleidoscope . Eventually the thing disappears to the left. The shape seems to be of small triangles squares, anything 'sort of' geometric. I can see past it but still have to see the shape. Whichever eye I close I can still see it; close both I can see it! It has now cleared completely as I have not being looking at the sun or any strong light. Is it 'just one of those things' to be tolerated every now and then. I am 75 and in general good health

I'm late 5s,have had floaters since my 20s,back then they were small black or clear dots, fast forward, late fifties, now i've had pvds in both eyes, vitreous gel shrinks and pulls away from the back of the eye,now i have these clear to gauzy larger floaters, plus one large clumpy black one and I can't ignore them anymore. PVD is age related. I am just lucky enough to have these awful larger ones that can blur and obstruct vision. How does a person deal with it. Oh yes I also am starting to have dry eyes. Both also can cause hazy vision. Unless you've experienced it,no one else can relate

I recently had a CT for another issue, however the CT showed a 6 cm cyst on the left ovary and a 3 cm cyst on the right ovary. I have had a lot of lower back pain, side pain, abdominal pain and constipation. Should I be concerned??

The squint(left eye) had been developed at an age of 3 or 4 years I think... A cataract was also developed in it.. It had been ignored by me as I was not able to focus on it while seeing things... Cataract was recently removed(At an age of 18) by a laser treatment... But after the treatment also I had not get my vision back for my left eye (lazy eye).. I'm not able to see with that I now... Can I improve my left eye's vision...? If I can't.. Then how can I correct my eyes appearance... My left eye is little outwards from it's actual direction.

I am presently on 7mg, and worry if GCA is starting: the dull pain I get is not at the sides of my eyes but about an inch above and slightly back. I do not have other indicators, such as jaw pain or sore head to touch, and am unsure whether all symptoms are likely to be present or only one. My GP seems to think I am OK- any advice as to whether the temple pain in GCA is by the sides of one's glasses or an inch or two above this?

I am not sure if what I have is a tension Headache or not so this may not even be the right forum but I figured I would see if anyone else has similar issues. I have been sick for some time now (brain fog, lethargy, muscle pain, stomach issues) a few months ago I started getting pain in my eyebrows (the bone) so I went to my Dr she had x-rays of sinuses done to check for polyps but nothing was found at that time she put me on doxycycline because all my symptoms pointed to lymes disease even though I didn't have the hallmark bullseye bite mark. A few weeks later I went to the eye Dr as my vision has seemed off (certain patterns were freaking my eyes out like when I was driving and shadows of trees would flicker I would start to feel weird) anyways he did a full eye exam and he said my eyes were fine so I went back to my Dr as the pain in eyebrows had grown worse. She checked my nose and said it was most likely sinus related and that the die off from the lymes was most likely causing inflammation in the sinuses and causing the pain to increase. She put me on methylprednisolone for 6 days which initially worked but a few weeks later boom the pain was back with a vengeance. She suggested I see an ENT which I did he checked everything and did a catscan of my sinuses and said there is no issue with my sinuses and I may want to see a neurologist(which I previously saw about a year ago when my symptoms started and she said she didn't think it was neurological. The pain is almost constant except in the early morning the pain starts at the beginning of the the eyebrows and travels to about the pupil it hurts to push on it and I feel like there is pressure behind my eyes.
