Orthopedics :: Popped Dislocated Ribs By Sternum

About two years ago I had pneumonia and while violently coughing I popped 4 of my ribs by my sternum. I went to the ER and they said it was fine that they were dislocated, then a couple months later to Urgent care and they also didnt see concerned. Well the past week or so they seem to have pushed out more and are in pain and my back has been hurting extremely bad on the same side as my ribs.
Question
1) Is this dangerous?
2) Would it require surgery?

I fell on the back of the hand with my wrist bent forward under my arm and heard and felt a popping noise and now it hurts to do anything with it. Idk if i should go to the doctor or not (it's not too swollen and I have full mobility. But it hurts when I move it at all and I can't pick up anything)

Back in may I dislocated my patella (left side). I am now able to walk on it okay without to much pain. But I have noticed ever since my accident if my leg is straight out and relaxed, if pressed or leaned on something pops in and then out, on the outside of my knee joint on the outer side of my leg. Best way to describe it is like the safety pop up on the lid on a jar of pickles once it's been opened. As it will pop in and then pop out once pressed. I hope that makes sense. I'm very worried. I am still unable to bend my leg fully without very bad pain, it had been 4 months now. Thank you. P.s my knee dislocation wasn't caused by any trauma it dislocated whilst dancing. I have been told I suffer with hyper mobility.

I recently noticed a hard knot between my breasts at the bottom of my sternum. I also have pain in my left upper back and sometimes down into my lower left abdomen. It is sometimes tender to the touch, but not always. I don't lose sleep over it, food doesn't bother it, just the aches and pains in my upper left back and shoulder, sometimes on my left side. It doesn't hurt constantly and Ibuprofen helps. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to costochondritis or ???.

Just a couple weeks ago I had a bump forming right next to my nostril and directly on my cheek. I've had it for over two weeks and just yesterday I had it checked by my doctor and she prescribed me a topical solution ( smells a lot like alcohol) called Clindamycin Phosphate. I've done everything she had mentioned to me as far as putting a warm compress on my face which I have done the past couple nights and later applying the solution. Well, just a while ago as I was searching for some advice, I twitched my nose then all of a sudden I felt a tingle on my face and was in a way relieved to see that the boil had popped! I washed my hands, took a q-tip and just dabbed all the puss and blood out. Not sure if I'm doing anything incorrectly since I can't seem to get all the puss out of it since the bump is still there. I waited it out a bit before washing my face for the rest of the blood to come out since it was still dripping a bit. I gently washed my face with aveeno and waited for it to dry as I later dabbed the solution on the boil which stung like bloody murder >;) ! I'm very worried that this bump will remain on my face as this is the very first time in my life to experience such a traumatizing experience. If there is any help, please I beg you, how do you treat a boil/pimple after it hasn't completely drained?? Should I just wait it out and continue to use my prescription? My doctor told me I didn't need a follow up for it, but I'm so worried I can't help it! Should I continue to apply a warm compress twice a day? What should I do?

Does anyone else experience lymph node pains with their sinus problems? The weird and scary pain I have just experienced is pain under my sternum and under my armpit lymph nodes. Thick and I mean thick clear mucus in my left nostril only. Had an MRI on my neck. And head. Only problem it said was my left cheek was filled with mucus. I had a tooth extracted after a botched root canal treatment. In December 2015 My cheek swelled up real bad and I had to Go to the E.R. To have my gum lanced to rid me of the poison. That was 3 and a 1/2 months ago. My symptoms (mucus) have been getting worse. I called my doctor(gp) and he gave me 500 mg. amoxicillin. Relieved me of my symptoms and chest pain for one day. This a.m. The pain is back. But it comes and goes! I need some help with this please. The headaches and neck pains suck. I'm not living right now I'm just existing.

After a bowel movement few days ago, I now have a large (large grape size), round, firm protrusion. I have always had a tiny "tag"/hemorrhoid since childbirth, which never really bothered much. But this new thing that has popped up (out, lol) is awful. It hurts to sit, touch, especially to stand up or sneeze (since such movements need to squeeze) and its difficult to bend down etc. However it does not hurt to go to the bathroom, does not itch or anything. It's just in the way and highly sensitive. The doctor's office (via email) thinks it's probably Hemorrhoid. It's just that the symptoms seem to match up more to prolapse which scares me. And will it just get better on its own, with proper diet and rest?

I am 36 years old, I am suffering from heartburn regularly with a sharp pain under my left breast close to my sternum. I have been following a low carb diet for 3 months and started cycling regularly. I experience the pain and heartburn while cycling, bending and picking stuff up all the time. I went to the doctor in December last year who had put me on proton pump meds for a month and never had any symptoms. when I finished the course it came back. I do have a bad taste in my mouth all the time and my teeth als feels rough almost.

I just have a question I don't really know if there is anything I can do but it doesn't hurt to ask...with my first baby I had no problem it was so easy but this time everything hurts especially my ribs I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas I could try to take away the pain anything helps please

I had pneumonia in my left lung 3 weeks ago which was very painful. I now have completed antibiotics but still have pain in my lower rib area that is very sharp when I yawn, cough, laugh or burp. This pain is not getting better. I had an ARNP tell me she does not hear any air movement in my lower lung. I'm curious What may be causing the pain. I never had it before the pneumonia and it doesn't seem to be going away.

I wonder whether anyone else has experienced this sharp pain simultaneously in their elbow and rib. Mine is on the right side and the pain is literally at exactly the same time and in my rib it seems to be directly adjacent from my elbow with my arm down by my side. It started two nights ago. I have been in touch with ra nurses but had to just leave a message, yesterday, but nobody has come back to me yet. It really is an odd pain, but really sharp and stops me in my tracks. It will go on for several minutes, breaking off every few seconds, then will go off for a few hours and then start again. Also my upper abdomen seems really distended, I have no idea whether that is connected in any way.

7 years ago i woke with tremendous pain in my neck. Took 5 years and many doctors before first MRI. MRI showed bilateral cervical ribs. Tests were performed which suggested TOS. From 1 specialist to the next, I have now been told to basically go home and live in pain. They won't perform the surgery because they told me 60% of patients are worse off. Have to live in this horrible pain forever. Lost in the system

On Friday I fractured 2 maybe 3 ribs in a skiing accident. I had a chest X-ray and an ultrasound. I also had a brain scan due to being knocked unconscious. Nothing came up on any of the scans other than the rib fractures. Today I've started bleeding lightly from below, like the end of a period. I haven't had a period for over a year due to being on the injection and I never get any bleeding at all. I've had a bit of stomach pain and feeling sick but that's it. Should I be concerned? Could it be related?

I am a 34 male with no family history of cardiac issues. I quit smoking 6 years ago. Recently, when running in had a discomfort right in the bottom, between my ribs. My left arm also aches, though the pain varies with position. I took a echo stress test in Jan 2015 and passed with flying colors. Also my most recent cholesterol were as follows: total cholesterol 181, HDL 41, LDL 108 and triglycerides 130. My BMI is 22.3. What are the chances, it can it be angina ?

I have just been diagnosed with pleurisy yesterday after an horrendous weekend of stabbing pains, in my ribs and back, but not particularly in my chest. It came on suddenly last thursday night in bed without any warning and was accompanied by fever symptoms similar to flu ie boiling hot one minute and freezing the next. I had flu about 6 weeks ago, got rid of it and it recurred again in the shape of a chesty cough which causes a crushing feeling in my chest and ribs. The doctor prescribed me strong antibiotics and was told to take paracetamol for the pain which has shifted all over my ribs and back, not staying in one place. He also ruled out a water infection whilst I was there. I still have a fever and can't do much more than rest as I'm tired much of the time but manage to keep my pain down to a minimum by dosing up with codeine/paracetamol every four hours, even managing to get some sleep last night. I hope this info helps someone else in the same predicament.
