OK To Have Sex After Prostatitis (2 Months Back)
Sep 19, 2014
I was diagnosed with prostatitis and have been on FloMax since then. I haven't had any pain or complications from prostatitis for 2 months. I need advice if decide to have anal sex with a partner(of course, using a condom), will it cause any problems or negatively harm my prostate? In other words, is it ok to have anal sex considering my current condition.

6 weeks ago whilst at home relaxing I noticed a short sharp twinge down the right side of my scrotum. Within a few days this had developed into pressure type dull ache up my loin towards my kidney. I'd say about a 5/10 on the pain scale. I tried to ignore it but it wouldn't go away and my anxiety started to grow. Shorty after I became quite ill and developed a mild fever. No discharge or pain when peeing tho.
I visited my doctor and she thought I had a UTI and gave me trimethoprim for 1 week. She sent my urine off to the lab. A couple of days into the course I felt a bit better but by the end of the course it still hadn't shifted. I'd say about 3/10 on the pain scale at this point but the anxiety had gone through the roof because when i went back to the doc they said there was no water infection. I thought I might have cancer, aids and all sorts . I was sure I had aids and wrote a will (please don't laugh).
I plucked up the courage to go to the sexual health clinic for blood and water tests. To my relief I got the results a week later which we're clear. During this period i also noticed i was having a lot of gas and sometimes id go to the toilet for a no.2 and feel like id have to go again an hour later. I then went back to the doc for an alternative diagnosis but I was a different guy and he was useless. Just said I've got a groin strain which I thought was rubbish because I hadn't done any proper exercise in about a week before feeling the first pain. I also fail to see how a groin strain can cause gas and some minor upper abdominal pains which I'd also noticed (maybe caused by anxiety who knows).
I started to think did the sexual clinic miss something? Have I got aids (a test can sometimes give a false neg)? I've been constantly on the web scaring myself.
By week 5 I'd had enough. I was having groin / pelvic / lower back / thigh pain. About 3/10 on the pain scale. I decided to go to A&E. the doc there examined me for a hernia and that was negative. I suggested prostatitis because it seemed possible giving my many hours of research and he didn't dispel it but I got the impression he couldn't be bothered to perform a rectal examine. I think he took the easy diagnosis of a groin strain and after giving me pain killers told me to come back in 2 months. Arrrghh!
To summarise Do these symptoms sound like prostatitis?
1. Groin,hip,thigh,lower back ache
2. illness earlier in the process and a general feeling of unwellness for about a month
3. some minor upper abdominal pains
4. also noticed ejaculation is not quite as satisfying (possibly anxiety)
5.depression

I had Bell's Palsy last year and with in 14 months i got it back. First time i think it took around 6 weeks to recover 90%. I still have some signs of it. During First time - i had pain behind my ear for 3 days and on 4th day - I started noticing something wrong and by the end of the day - i had total facial paralysis on my left side.
Now for second time - it is so weird that i had pain for almost 5 days and on 6th day i started noticing changes and by end of the day i am still normal and by end of 7 day it got worse.
I went to Doctor and he kind of confirmed Bells Palsy ( not sure whether he is 100% sure) and gave me Steroids and Antivirals.
Weird part is why is it so slow this time - after 2 complete days of initial symptoms - i am still able to close my eyes ( forcefully and not like the other one) and i am still able to smile little bit ( very slightly). Is it something normal to Bell's Palsy or i have something else.

I come off the contraceptive pill in May & haven't had a period since, I have taken two pregnancy tests one in June & one 3 weeks ago. I have requested a call back from my gp but this won't be for another week. I have read on other forums it can be common to have no periods for awhile when coming off the pill?

It is now just five months since my RTHR and I think I'm back to normal. So hands up all you hippies who think, as I do, that, as a reward for my extraordinary courage and being a model patient, my wife should now allow me to purchase that lovely little classic sports coupé that I've seen for sale (quite cheaply) on the Internet.

I've been miserable for months with my right buttock area hurting while seated. It has recently also started bothering my while standing or laying down. I seem not to notice it when I am active. It's making my life miserable. I feel a knot/lump deep in the buttock tissue by my sit bone. Also, 3 times this month my whole right buttock from low back to thigh has become swollen. My leg muscles on both sides twitch. I've had 2 MRI's that show nothing except mild arthritis in my low back. I fell hard on my right side and broke my tailbone 2 years ago but just started experiencing pain this past year. Here is what I have tried:
Stand up desk at work
Yoga
Ice/Heat
Multiple Chiro appointments
Seen ortho specialist who told me not to concentrate on the pain!!
2 months of PT which seemed to aggravate the issue
Pain management doc says ischial bursitis and gave me an injection but didn't work.
Naproxen in case it is muscle related
Gabapentin in case it is nerve related

I have had lower back pain for a few months. I went to rub my back where the pain was and noticed a hard lump. It's on the lower left side about an inch from my spine. Should I be alarmed or see a physician?

I was just recently diagnosed with pleurisy after spending hours running through every test imaginable. I am also pregnant, 7 months, with my second child. I have never felt a pain like this before. The pain is in my right chest and back; at first I was tested for gallbladder problems and that came out clear. I was sent to the ER for further testing where they did extensive blood work ups, chest x-ray, tested for reflux and finally a cat scan. When everything came back clear, they diagnosed it as pleurisy and sent me home with a pain killer. Unfortunately, the pain got worse and I was readmitted to the ER by my OB for more testing. Again everything was clear, this time they were given the green light to give me ibuprofen but only for 3 days with a follow up visit to my OB on day 3 to make sure the baby was alright. So far, the ibuprofen is helping considerably. I hope I never have to suffer through this again. I found the information provided here about pleurisy very helpful especially since I had never even heard of it before this happened.

I had a kind of risky encounter about 7 months ago. I used the oraquick test at 1 month, 3 months (twice) and 6.5 months. All came back negative. Can I rely on these results as being accurate and not a false negative?

Unprotected sex with a female that I know well (but do you really know people? she says i have nothing to worry about) , happened approx 7 weeks ago. Approximately 3 weeks post, was diagnosed with Prostatitis. I'm a 46 y/o male and have crohn's. The provider stated usually caused by bacteria, or often times is an unknown cause. All my blood work CBC, CMP etc came back within normal ranges. We did a gonorrhea and Chlamydia test via urine specimen and it was negative as well. Antibiotic, seemed to clear it up, though still seem to have mild flare now and then.
I googled the condition just to look for some additional information. I see that it is one of the most common urologic conditions for men and seems to hit the 40-50 year range most. I was concerned when I saw that HIV was listed. To this I am freaked out and have become very stressed. The provider wasn't even going to do the G&C tests until I asked if we should - and she didn't seem too concerned.
Question:
1) Is Prostatitis an indication of an HIV infection? An ARS symptom? Do I have a need to worry? (understanding a test is the way to rule out, which I will have done)
2) Can my test at this point in time be considered conclusive once completed?

I am looking for herbs that can cure prostatitis. Have any of you found a good remedy for this? I am not interested in homeopathy as such, as I had bad experienced with that in the past, but just plain herbs would be great. If anyone can post their information up here, that would be so useful!

In short, I (27) was diagnosed with bladder neck stenosis and underwent BNI surgery 4 months ago. I was unable to pee at all. My urinary symptoms are much improved and although my flow rate is still on the low side (15ml/sec), I can fully empty my bladder.
I was in the hospital for a week before doctors diagnosed the reason for my urinary retention. A CT scan showed I had mild prostatitis.
Now I feel I have recovered somewhat but about 2.5 weeks ago, pain associated with prostatitis returned. I went to a Urologist who told me to get a few tests done: CBC, Urine DR, bladder PVR and uroflowmetry. He also prescribed 10 days of antibiotics. The tests seem to be normal with the exception of 4-6 pus cells in my urine. I have not returned to the doctor since.
The pain went away in about a week but has returned. No fever, just a mild constant pain in by upper buttocks area which gets better in the morning. I also have occasional burning pain between my scrotum and anus. My penis feels sore as if I just ejaculated. Occasionally there is sharp pain in the shaft of my penis. I am also experiencing frequent nocturnal emissions. My libido is almost non-existent but when I try I am able to achieve a decent erection.
I have had these symptoms on and off for a few years but although annoying, I did nothing. My GP just tells me to take painkillers. I have read about the kinds of prostatitis and nobody has been able to tell me what exactly is wrong. I have taken 4 rounds of antibiotics (7-10 days) in the last 4 months. It may be of bacterial origin; I was diagnosed with epididymitis 6 months ago with prostatitis symptoms and it cleared up with Cipro.

Have had flare ups occasionally for 30 years. Like most people multiple antibiotics never were helpful. A turp at 37 was a mistake. Prostatitis is caused by trauma; injury, cycling, excessive sexual activity, sitting, etc. some or all. For most people particularly younger guys, excessive sexual activity is the cause. This is like a sports injury to the gland, the nerves or the muscles in the area, just plain over use. Limit sexual activity, once a week or less if you can handle it. Eventually the symptoms, burning, frequency, pain, etc. will dissipate on their own after a couple of months things will improve a great deal. If you have irritated it once, remember you can do it again and the symptoms will return. Forget the ED meds till everything calms down and then moderation is likely best.
