View 3 RepliesI quit smoking exactly 1 week ago today (though it feels much longer) after smoking for almost 7 years.
For the past month and a half, I have had shortness of breath, which came on suddenly. I went to Urgent Care for it, and the doctor, after listening to me breath/listening to my heart, said "everything sounds good", and she said my shortness of breath is due to the fact that I have severe anxiety/panic disorder and a sinus infection. That was in the beginning of February... A couple weeks ago, my best friend's mom (who has been an ER nurse for over 20 years) listened to me breath, took my pulse/blood pressure, and she, too, said my lungs sounded "perfect", and my other vitals were good as well.
However... here I am, late March, and I still experience shortness of breath (though it has gotten somewhat better).
Like I said, it's only been a week since I quit smoking (which I did BECAUSE I felt it might be why I was having shortness of breath), and the first couple of days? I felt great!
Now, I feel awful. I feel like I am dying. My depression has gotten much worse, my anxiety is acting up, I feel "empty" both mentally and emotionally... I have HA (health anxiety) and I fear I might have cancer, or COPD, or some such thing.
Also, physically I just feel completely drained. I feel weak all the time, exhausted, sluggish, my heartbeat feels weak (to me), etc... I have difficulty thinking clearly, my concentration is horrible...
But mainly what bothers me is how weak I feel... Sometimes I feel so weak that I am SURE I am dying. I lay there and think, "this is it, I am dying". It's absolutely terrifying!
I use a nicotine patch, and it DOES seem to help when I have it on, but it only helps so much...
Is this all normal? Before I quit this past week, I had been quitting on and off for a couple months, but my "quitting" would only last 2-3 days. This is the longest I have quit smoking.
I just feel something must be terribly wrong with me... Could this all be just because I quit smoking? No one ever tells you what to REALLY expect when you quit...
I want to stop smoking. I used to smoke in high school and then got pregnant and stopped cold turkey without any problems, then 7 years ago I started smoking again (long story) but started smoking again due to some very stressful events in my life. Anyway, my father in law just passed away about a week ago from a heart attack (but he was also fighting lung cancer that spread to his hip and brain). So now I am really thinking about quiting. My question is how/ what is the best way to quit. I have no health insurance right now, so taking prescription meds is out of the question. I also have high blood pressure.
View 1 RepliesI am 14 and i have just started smoking and i am 4 inch penis and some hair and i just wonder does smoking stop puberty happening ?
View 4 RepliesI used to smoke a lot. I won’t exaggerate if I say that I smoked almost 2 packs of cigarettes daily. My friend got me into quitting smoking. At the end I agreed to try with hypnosis. And I must admit that a hypnotist helped me to stop smoking. Are there any similar people here?
View 1 RepliesMy tonsils have been swollen for over a month, until last week they were painless, but now I have flu symptoms. Its quite scary, it affects my swallowing and I have a very very dry mouth, even when I drink loads of water all day. Hasn't affected my breathing as of yet, but feels like a lump in my throat is blocking it off.
This has been going for three days now.
Doctor said I need a blood test for glandular fever, which is next week.
I mentioned that I think I can feel my epiglottis swollen, and she laughed and said that is all the way down by my adam's apple and would have a job feeling that... even though i've seen many cases online where it's visible above the tongue and often can be felt.
I'm currently in prison, been taking methadone for about 6months 2 or 3 a day no more than 30 ml but I decided to quit because not the best thing to do in prison, ( I'm not even prescribed to it) it's been 3 days since I took my last one and honestly I'm not having any major WD , yeah of course I feel weak and uncomfortable but I still manage to eat and sleep so far, I just been reading other's post and most of em saying methadone WD takes weeks even months to feel normal, I don't wanna be stack in my cell for weeks and not be able to protect myself if needed, anybody knows how long does methadone WD takes.
View 1 Repliessore throat, fatigue, pain, no diagnosis Posted 10 minutes ago I'm sorry for the long post but I really need some help. I am 25 years old, female from Bulgaria. Everything started after 2 shots of progesterone done by my gyno. I had high prolactin levels and somewhat low progesterone and my period stopped so that is why she gave me shots. After the second shot I woke up with very bad pain and burning sensations in my sinuses,my whole body was in pain. And there it all begins. For 2 weeks I wasn't getting better, I had a fever (not very high),sinus pain and sore throat. Finally I visited a ENT doctor, she said that there was nothing wrong with me,everything-ears,nose throat looked fine but I asked for a sinus x-ray-it was also fine. Then my gyno advised me to culture my throat and nose. The results were staphylococcus aureus in nose and Moraxella catarrhalis in throat. I was prescribed cefpodoxime (due to antibiogram) took it for several days and I wasn't feeling any better, then my dr switched me to Cefuroxime,it did help at the beginning,I was feeling better but by the time I was taking my last pill all the symptoms returned. My sinuses didn't hurt anymore but my throat was on fire, muscle and joint pain, feverish feeling but no actual fever this time. So I was put on unasyn (Sultamicillin) on IV drip.I was getting no relief and was just feeling very sick from that med,so we stopped it. The I went to another ENT doctor and he told me there was nothing wrong with me, my throat looked fine and I had a little wound in my nose with blood. I had no runny nose. So I did a culture of my throat again and it happened to be Candida Glabrata ( may be because of all those antibiotics) I also had e.coli in my urine.I took one dose of Fosfomycin for my e.coli and it cleared up and I was put on IV drip again with fluconazole for my candida.I also had candida in my vaginal results. I started to get better on fluconazole but again it lasted 3 days and in the end of the treatment I was ill again. My ears started to hurt very badly, all other symptoms continued.I waited 2 weeks after the last antibiotic and did a nose and throat culture again in two different labs and there was no infection found, I also did a vaginal and urine tests again and the urine was fine, had some enterococcus faecalis but in small amounts from my vag microbiology. My gyno said that it is better to not treat it for now because of all the meds I took for those 2 months. Yes,it's been two months and I am only getting worse, my whole body is in pain,I am very fatigued, have the flu feeling sore throat, ear pain, lymph and joint pain,I feel very very ill. And the tests say nothing. On my blood test the only thing that was abnormal was my AST (antistreptolysin-titer) levels were high 310 (from 200 being the norm).Went to a 3rd ENT,he also said everything looked fine, my ears and throat are not inflamed and he said that it wasn't my ears that hurt but my face joints. So I am here, desperate for ome help, not getting better, not knowing what to do now.I started having very bad panic attacks because I think I am dying and no one can find what is that illness. Can it be some autoimmune response to the progesterone shots? I don't know anymore. It's a struggle to get out of bed really.
View 3 RepliesI'm on the start of day 5 now after my tonsillectomy and in the worst pain imaginable, I was aware the procedure would be painful but nothing like this did I ever imagine, the mornings we the worst, waking from my sleep with no pain resistance at 4am is horrible.
I would really like someone to help me make a plan so I can manage my pain relief better so I don't need to be in so much agony,il list below the medicine I have and the daily dosage told to take:
Paracetamol 500mg take 2 upto 4 times a day
diclofenac/volterol 50mg take 1 upto 3 times a day
codeine 30mg take 1 or 2 upto 4 times a day ....
The last time I smoked marijuana was around the 13th of January, but I still have the feeling of laziness and like I'm almost looking through some kind of film or something. Like I feel when I'm high. Is this normal this long after quitting? Or is this "hazy" feeling potentially due to a medical cause. My sight isn't really impaired, but my sight is like I'm high still, like I'm looking through a haze.
I smoked multiple times a day for about a year and a half. It doesn't go away, and it hasn't gotten any better over the time since I've quit.
For the past 3-4 months, I have smoked pot ONCE (depending on mood 1-3 joints) every night to help me go to sleep faster. I've never had insomnia problems or addiction problems before these few months (smoked 2-3 times a week for 6 months prior; and once or twice a month for 5 years before that). Now I find it extremely difficult to go to sleep. My body feels warm everywhere and even if I manage to fall asleep eventually, I never managed to fall into deep sleep and normally wake up within 4 hours feeling unrested. Any advice or similar experiences?
View 1 RepliesI had protected sex few weeks ago with a prostitute, but I don't know if the condom broke or not (I think not). 2~3 weeks later I had a mild soar throat (no fever, sneezing, running nose or headache only cough). few days ago, I noticed my tongue is covered in a white creamy thing. Also my fingers joints aches a little bit (few seconds and then it goes away. The feeling is just like when you press on your joints, or when you feel so cold) I'm really worried that i could've been infected with HIV
- how bad should an HIV soar throat be?
- how long does it take for thrush to start forming on the tongue after having the intercourse?
- how bad HIV muscle/joints pain should be and for how long does it take for a person to start feeling pain after having the intercourse?
Does anyone else have flare ups of a sore throat and sore oesophagus, the Dr thinks it's acid reflux, ppi's aren't doing anything, now being tested for h pylori bacteria, but can't help thinking that it may be connected to my ASR
View 8 RepliesI'm 15 years old... and i've been smoking since i was 12.. i am quitting, but since yesterday i have had this really bad pain in my throat, it feels like there is a lump of some sort, that won't go away, but then today, i woke up with the same throat pain (but worse) it hurts to breath in, it also hurts my left shoulder blade/ arm when i breath in, my nose, and occasionally my chest.. View 1 RepliesSo I am no stranger to adderall. I first got prescribed it when I was in high school (I am almost 23 now), but I have only taken it on and off, never more than maybe a couple months at a time. I'm really bad at staying consistent with medications. I started a new job a month ago in which I work 10 hours and have to be able to focus at all times so I went back to a psych and got prescribed adderall again. I started out at 20mg and it was just too much, it was giving me horrible anxiety. So I got reduced down to 10 mg, which was fine and all but it wasn't lasting as long as I needed it to, so I asked to get switched to 10mg time release capsules. Those have been great, and I only take them on days I work, although again I have been kind of on and off with it. I have taken it about 3 days in a row now and I've noticed my throat feels kind of swollen (doesn't hurt though), sometimes it is hard to swallow when I am laying down and my tongue has that feeling like after you burn it from drinking something really hot (but I haven't burned it from what I can remember). I've also noticed the inside corners of my mouth feel a little tender. Could this be caused by the adderall? I tried to do some google research and it said it could be allergies and the changing of the weather but I've never had something like this happen before due to allergies.
View 1 RepliesTwo to three years ago i spent the night at a hotel with my boyfriend and in the morning i took a shower after i came out of the shower i dried off with the towel that was placed there, after finish using the towel i noticed that there was a stain on it that what looks like dried blood. View 1 RepliesI have what feels like a sore throat but further down my throat. It comes and goes but it's more late afternoon when it comes on. I don't want to eat as it feels like my food is stuck or talk because it's so sore but when I wake up it's ok? I went to doctors Last week they reduced my beta blockers because I was so zapped out. I mentioned my throat but he wasn't concerned and barely looked. He seemed miffed that the specialist mentioned I need to be careful about sore throats due to thyroid med and white blood cells. He was annoyed about having a blood test. Dr hasn't rung back so I guess that's ok but is my throat normal problem for overactive thyroid.

View 1 RepliesI am a male of 31 years of age. About 38 days before I had sex with a CSW. It was protected vaginal sex and protected oral sex. Also there were deep throat kissing which lasts almost minute. Since last 3 weeks I have sore throat and mild joint pain. No real fever. Some times during afternoon time temperature raise up to 37.2 degrees centigrade.
The sore throat was mild but was a one point pen like feeling. During disposing phlegm stain of blood coming out. Phlegm was green or yellow in color. I went to doctor and he tested chest X-ray and found no problem.
I tested HIV 3rd Generation antibody test after 19 days of exposure, which came negative.
My questions:
1. Are my symptoms related to ARS?
2. How much possibility to have HIV contraction through deep kissing?
3. What can be the cause of blood in the phlegm?
4. One ENT specialist told me that the partition of nose is little bended. Is there any relation with this and my symptoms?
5. I am feeling little week, but that I think mostly because of anxiety.
6. Is there any significance of my 19 days HIV test result?
