I've been on Mirtazapine for 10 days... at first it was all fine. I wasn't tired, not tomboyish and feeling good. For the past two days I've suffered serious diarrhea, joint and muscle pain and headache. Anyone else experience this? Does the diarrhea go away?
View 94 RepliesAfter taking a course of penicillin which had no effect on a nasty toe infection I was prescribed Klaricid 500 but have had to stop taking it after only 3 tablets.
Experiencing chest pain, chronic diarrhea, muscle and joint pain, tinnitus and coughing, The ghastly taste and smell I could have lived with but not all the other side effects.
I don't know what's going on with me. I keep going to the doctor and all they say is that i'm suffering from a stomach bug, but it just doesn't seem to be that simple. My symptoms are;
Nausea, headache, fatigue, dizziness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, weight loss and lower abdominal cramps, similar to menstrual cramps and I'm not on my period. Recently I've started experiencing shortness of breath as well. What could it possibly be?
For the past 18 months I have experienced joint & bone pain, predominantly in my fingers, hands, wrists and elbows but also affecting my forearms, feet, ankles, knees, hips and shoulders. I have spent months trying to ignore it and at other times have kept detailed diaries, but can find no pattern relating to the area and level of pain and what I may have been doing, eating, drinking or how well I've slept.
I am nearly always fatigued ... I do work hard but even when I have time off, I'm exhausted to the point of needing to nap or walking around like a zombie. I used to run a lot and completed marathons, but now can't face a short jog.
Whenever I go to give blood, 4 out of 5 times my blood is too low in iron. It's not considered a dangerously low level for me but it is too low for the blood service to accept. The last time I went I succeeded in giving blood but was borderline and they only just accepted me.
Diarrhea; like many women I usually have this around the first couple of days of my cycle. However in recent months this is happening more frequently. Again there is no pattern relating to what I eat, where I eat or who prepared it. When it happens I get cramps and an urgency to go, but no nausea, sickness or loss of appetite.
Finally, I've recently begun getting pins and needles in one hand / fingers in a pattern that suggests carpal tunnel syndrome. It lasts for a few days then fades.
All of these things could be related or entirely unrelated, I just don't know. Also, one or two on their own might be easier to deal with but combined they can really get be down. My doctor has recently given me blood tests for arthritis and they came back normal. Any other ideas please?
Has anybody tried Epsom Salt baths to relieve joint and muscle pain after total knee replacement surgery?
View 4 Repliesfor the past week I had severe joint pain and weakness, muscle weakness, bone pain in extremities ( had a blood test for lupus and RA[ no family history of either] Starting to get a bit better as long as I rest. recently sexually active with one person, now I just noticed feeling swollen like I was getting a UTI ( hurt when I urinate), but noticed it hurt in my vagina not urethra, checked and there are 4 small red bumps in my right labia minora and 1 in my left labia minora-odorless, feels inflamed and hurts now. Is this related to possible lupus or separate problem? I feel exhausted and run down.
View 1 RepliesI was diagnosed about 4 months ago with Hashimoto's. I'm on 75 mcg of Unithroid. I've started having extreme joint pain and my hands are always swollen. Some days it's a chore to walk up the stairs at work. The only time I feel really good is in the evening about 7pm. Any suggestions on what this could be? Who do I see for my joints to rule out other autoimmune disorders?

I have been into long distance running since long. Lately I started suffering from severe heel pain for which I had an MRI which says:
1. Minimal joint effusion is seen tibiotalar joint anterior and posterior recesses.
2. Soft tissue edema is seen in kager fat and anterior of ankle.
3. Minimal insignificant fluid in subtalar joint and intertarsal joints.
Its been two months I have not been running and I am feeling equal pain all the time. Pressing heel by thumb gives me worst pain. I can't move barefoot anymore. Orthotics insoles provide relief.
I have been dipping my legs in ice water and not running since 2 months but no relief at all.
I am 31 year old male, 5'11" and 78 kg.
I'm 16 years old, and I have now been sick for over a month (I first got sick at the end of November). I have been experiencing stomach pain/discomfort that comes and goes. It is generally all through the middle of my abdomen, but I have also noticed that I sometimes get sharp, shooting pains on the left side. The pain is worse after I eat, and it doesn't matter what I eat, the pain is still there. I don't have much of an appetite, but I have been trying to eat because I know that I should. This is extremely difficult, though. I have lost almost 10 pounds in the past month because I haven't been eating much, and really don't feel like eating. I've also been having horrible diarrhea.. sometimes I will need to use the washroom three or four times a day. I have tried taking Imodium for the diarrhea, but I always end up extremely constipated.. and the diarrhea only returns (I might have one regular bowel movement, but after that the diarrhea just comes back). I'm exhausted as well. I just want to sleep all the time, and I find it hard just to keep my eyes open throughout the day. My lower back is also constantly aching.. I just do not feel well at all.
I have been to see my doctor 4 times because I just don't seem to be getting any better. He initially thought that I had a viral infection, but after I did not improve after two weeks, he decided to run some tests. I gave a urine sample and he said that I probably had a kidney infection (but he wasn't 100% sure because I had my period when I gave the sample). He put me on medication, and sent me for blood work. I also had to give a stool sample. All of my tests came back normal, but the medication didn't help at all. The next time I saw him, he said that I might have an ulcer, and put me on apo-omeprazole, which I have been taking for about two weeks now. I'm also on medication for a case of bronchitis.
I am incredibly frustrated because nothing seems to alleviate my symptoms. I have missed 15 days of school because I just feel terrible. My parents think that I might be making it all up, or that it's all in my head, and my doctor has suggested the same thing (he told me that there was "absolutely no reason" a person my age would be experiencing symptoms like this for so long. I am NOT making this up, and I know that it ISN'T all in my head. I just wish that someone would actually take me seriously and believe me when I say that something is wrong. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday, but I just don't know how to cope at school until then. I'm also scared that the ultrasound will come back normal, just like all the other tests I've had done. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I'm desperate for answers and ways that I can cope.. I want to get back to school and my life.
After my mistake (HIV scare) I have all these symptoms heart wall pain, chest wall pain, radiating pain to the whole body, and headache, and cough and sputum. X-ray 6 times in 6 months and doctors can not see what is wrong with me. Do I have a virus going inside my body? A viral infection?
View 2 RepliesI'm a 17 year old female and I'm hoping somebody can help me out. I've been sick and out of school for over a month now. It all started with severe back as chest pains that were diagnosed as pleurisy. We later found out that I did not have pleurisy though. Through a series of blood tests my ANA came back very positive (I took it twice just to be sure, 2 weeks apart from each other) so my doctors were looking at lupus. Those were my only symptoms at the time though. Starting this past Sunday I've been having joint pains particularly in my wrists up my forearms to my elbows and in my hands. When I move my wrists they keep popping too which is strange to me. I'm always exhausted now which is so unlike me. I play lacrosse and am an in shape teenager but everything seems to be spiraling downward for me.

Yesterday i got better and today i thought i should eat Activia and so i ate it and guess what i've got gas pain and it's like crampy to. I went toilet it wasn't watery stools but normal and now i'm feeling really stressed why i ate Activia. Plz can anyone on here tell me is Activia safe to eat and does it it give you cramps..
View 60 RepliesI came across this syndrome when searching the Internet about extreme pain I have when I take the first bite EVERY time I eat and sometimes drink. That this could be a symptom of this syndrome but I don't know. I do have some of the other symptoms, i.e. neuropathy, blurry vision, muscle pain, fatigue but these can also be associated with Type 1 Diabetes which I have. Also, came across parotid/salivary glands are affected which also can cause the jaw to ear pain I'm having. Has anyone heard that the Coxsackie virus can have anything to do with it? How do you know for sure if it is Sjogren's and what type of doctor do you see about it - a primary?
View 1 RepliesI am on my 5th week post-op TAH (removed uterus, cervix and Fallopian tubes). I was recovering well in the past few weeks with reducing pains.
Of all sudden, I had a painful swelling abdominal and soreness/pulling pain around waist yesterday coupled with giddiness and headache. Is it normal having a regression during recovery period? Any remedy members could share esp. now I still can't exercise. I put on an abdominal binder now to ease the pain slightly.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago . After complaining of left sided pain .
Since then I am having pain left sided going over to the pubic bone area . Does anyone else have this ??
I admit I am also have lots of cramping and bouts of diarrhea and constipation but keeping pain under control with paracetamol only .
Constant for the past 3 months and doctor thought it was just heartburn but medicine isn't working. Cramps are through my whole stomach. I'm only 12.
View 1 RepliesI was put on doxazosin after a period of great stress (xmas), and although it's lowered my BP, I've had horrible side effects.
I've had the racing heart, swollen ankles, breast pain, chest pain (muscular), sore throat, sore jaw, headaches, anxiety, etc.
I was on 4mg for one day and my right leg gave out from under me, so I went down to 1mg.
Since then, I haven't had that the leg caving thing (thank God!), but I feel very unwell.
I feel heady, like I have a very bad cold. My nose hurts, my throat hurts, my teeth hurt, my ears hurt, and the roof of my mouth hurts.
The anxiety the drug induces is magnified because of the side effects, and the side effects increase the anxiety. The anxiety raises my blood pressure, and the cycle goes on, ad infinitum.
My symptoms were abdominal pain on left and right sides as well as diarrhea and constipation. Which turned to flat stools after that subsided.
After a CT, a colonoscopy with fasting AND prep, my results came back normal, yet my stool is still flat consistently. I'm worried and confused because people say this is cancer but others say IBS
Is this kind of occurrence of always flat stools possible with IBS?

View 1 RepliesI began to develop abdominal pain following a course of antibiotics prescribed for an overactive gland back in October last year. Since then my condition has worsened to the point where I experience lower abdominal pain on a daily basis. Often the pain can be present all day and I can find no way to relieve it. The only other symptom I have is occasional bloating, but no constipation or diarrhoea (always been regular and that hasn't changed). My health in general is very good and I exercise regularly (swimming and running).
At first I was prescribed Mebeverine but I found it had very little effect. I have had numerous blood tests, a urine test, and also an ultrasound, all of which were clear.
Around 8 weeks ago I was referred to a specialist gastroenterologist and my appointment is in 3 weeks from now. 2 weeks ago I visited my GP again because I was experiencing an unusually degree of pain. She said she would expedite my appointment with the specialist, however this is something she has been unable to fulfil, in part due to bad communication between them and the gastroenterology department and also due to the fact the specialist only works two days a week.
At this point I haven't been diagnosed as having anything specific, and If I'm honest I kind of feel like I've been hung out to dry by my GP whose answer on most occasions has been to wait and see, which suggests they aren't taking it very seriously.
My question really is, is it possible to suffer from IBS but only experience abdominal pain and bloating?
