View 31 RepliesI'm currently taking this combination for postnatal depression my baby is 10 weeks old! The Venlafaxine was started alongside the Mirtazapine three weeks ago and at first my anxiety came back slightly however for two weeks now I've been feeling great and back to myself and been very happy😃 but now all of a sudden since yesterday I've been having feelings of anxiety again, having hot flushes and have this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach like a churning sensation! I have been rather upset today because I've been feeling so good because I was in such a dark place a few weeks ago! And now I'm feeling like this! What should I do? Will this pass?

View 22 RepliesI have been on lexapro 20 mg for approximately 10 years and now my GI doctor has prescribed me amitriptyline 25mg for irritable bowel syndrome. I really don't feel right about this combination. I tried weaning myself off lexapro first 3/4 a pill for 7 days, then 1/2 pill for 7 days and the 1/4 pill but after one day on the 1/4 I was a complete mess. Had many side effects. I don't even feel I need antidepressant meds anymore. I got back on the full pill but now I feel like everything is surreal. I'm anxious and can't seem to function normally. What should I do. I go to my primary care dr. tomorrow and want to know what I should be asking her.
View 1 RepliesI have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for over a year now but my blood pressure still is elevated at times. I have anxiety as well and recently went to Dr who prescribed me 5mg norvasc to take with my 40 mg lisinopril. Does anyone else take this combination and if so how does it work for you ?
View 4 RepliesMy partner and I had unprotected sex during my period (on 3rd/4th day). I'm to start using birth control pills for the first time on the 5th day. My period usually lasts 7 days.
Unfortunately I'm in a foreign country and pharmacies are closed till Monday which will be about 60hrs later when I can take plan b, and by then I'll be taking birth control pills.
Should I take plan B in combination with the birth control or should I simply go ahead with the birth control pills.
I am aware that what happened was irresponsible and unfortunate especially as I had already planned on being safe. Help and advice would be much appreciated.
If it helps, the Birth control brand name I am meant to begin using is Nordette. Doctor said I can start having unprotected sex once I begin using.
I recently turned 40 and have had an interesting year with health. I went from excellent cholesterol to very high, developed kidney stones, learned I have osteopenia and have developed chronic back pain caused by bone on bone. I am not a fan of medication and am trying to find the right combination of vitamins to help with these problems. I cannot take Calcium because it is causing kidney stones, but I am thinking Vitamin D and Omega 3 Fish Oil would be a good start. Any suggestions on other vitamins/dosage?
View 7 RepliesI have just started on the 30m Mirtazapine and it's my 3rd night taking them ans i have read up on a lot of different forums that there are patients gaining weight off these? well i would like to know what the odds are of gaining weight because i have always had problems with weight gain, i can never put on any weight, no matter how much i eat, i have a fast metabolism and i am wondering, will the mirtazapine surpass my high metabolism. also in some cases i've heard it slows your metabolism down too.. but it would actually be a benefit for me to gain some extra weight.
View 5 RepliesFor the first time in a very long time, I'm finally in a good enough place to make the step in coming off my Anti-depressant. I've been on Mirtazapine 45mg for the last 4/5 years and before that a string of various of medications.
Despite my anxiety been kind of excessive at the moment, after a discussion with my GP, he was happy to let me begin tapering down the dose. The problem is with my anxiety I feel it mainly physically rather than mentally so it makes me a little oversensitive to any changes that take place in my body.
I guess what I am searching for is some reassurance so I can stop driving myself up the wall, exhausting google search on mirtazapine withdrawal. 6 nights ago I started my first reduction so 45 mg to 30mg. In all honesty it's not been that bad, a few waves of nausea, headaches and random aches and pains. Those I was expecting so don't mind too much. The trouble is that for the last 3 days, I've found myself a little short of breath for most of the day. It's nothing that's outwardly noticeable at the moment, but it's there and is slightly concerning. Has anyone else experienced this when tapering?
I'm kind of freaked out a little because one of my fears that's arisen since the mirtazapine is the that i will develop random allergies and my brain is wondering if I've suddenly developed an allergy to my meds (ridiculous, I know!) The other thing is that the rest of my family has had either viral chest problems lately so maybe I've just picked up that and it's a coincidence? Or it could just be the anxiety.
I'm totally spinning myself in circles at the moment so any wise words are most welcome at this point. If I know it is just withdrawal and nothing that can actually hurt me then I'm fine with whatever effects it throws at me.
I seem to remember reading this somewhere -that once you are on an antidepressant , you're going to always be on one, but I don't want to believe it!
Have many of you tried going off, only to go back on? I think I read something about them changing your brain chemistry permanently.
Has anyone else tried or heard of Fetzima? It's somewhat new to the market (2013) and is classified as an SNRI. As many of you are quite familiar with- depression often accompanies fibro the majority of the time.
I wanted to share my success story with this med, as I've been on at least 8 anti-depressants since being diagnosed and although they work for 1-3 years, they suddenly stop, as if my body has built up a tolerance. After upping the dosage twice on one med, my doctor will switch me to try another. After starting Fetzima in late May, I have not felt this great mentally for years. If you're looking for depression relief, I can tell you this one has changed my life.
My menopause nurse has changed hrt from everol to levial I started first pill today but my gp gave me fluoxetine last week cause I was depressed.I am wondering what is one of drugs don't agree with me I will not know what one is causing the prob so am I better of not taking fluoxetine just to see if levial helps with my depression.
View 27 RepliesI have taken antidepressants mainly for anxiety for many years. I have had 11 different antidepressants, switching mostly because of side effects, or when they didn't work too well. I am currently taking Paroxetine, which works fairly well but has some nasty side effects.
Last Monday I saw a really helpful psychiatrist, and when I told her I look meds up online, she encouraged me to look up the two meds that she was suggesting (Mirtazapine and Pregabalin) and make up my own mind.
There are plenty of research papers and there's Wikipedia, and med sites, all based on scientific studies. Very useful but I think it's a bit limited because they decide what questions to ask people. I really would like to know more about people's own personal experiences of taking this stuff, because I don't see a lot of that on patient leaflets or online med sites.
So anyone who would like to share experiences (it worked, it didn't work, side effects etc), I'd like to hear from you.
My first priority is making a decision next week about having Mirtazapine or Pregabalin, but after that I would also be interested in people's experiences with other antidepressants, including the ones I used to take.
I used to take an antidepressant SEROPLEX ( escitalopram). I have been sweating excessively for 3 months, very difficult to sweat so much ; my doctor told me the sweating was due to SEROPLEX and I stopped taking this drug 17 days ago: yet , I'm still sweating a lot: is it normal ?
the chemist of the laboratory which sends this drug told me " 17 days is not very long and the secondary effects vary from one people to another"". One week ago I had a blood-exam and also a lung radiography which were normal. My doctor is on vacation in august and I don't know what to do.
Anyone can you tell me if you had any luck finding an antidepressant to work for you. I have tried several with no relief now I'm on paxil 20 Mgs I have severe anxiety depression fear medical related PTSD I am very scared all the time
View 3 RepliesFirst of all I am not diabetic but I do need help on the above tablet Duloxetine (Cymbalta) which I believe is given to diabetics for pain relief (or so my doc tells me). I have Cervical spondylosis which gives me extreme pain and for which I take 30 tabs daily plus Morphine and liquid Morphine. Doc has prescribed Duloxetine which is an antidepressant but which I believe also helps pain. Can anyone on this site who is diabetic tell me about Duloxetine or have they taken it and has it helped with pain? I am afraid to start taking it as it does not have good reviews and is used mainly as an antidepressant. There appear to be too many side effects, some of which I have already from morphine and it appears to be difficult to come off. If anyone can comment and help me with this I would be really grateful. I suffer chronic pain 24/7 and my meds at the moment are having little effect on controlling the pain. They just keep increasing morphine dose which I am a little afraid of. Does Duloxetine really work in controlling pain?
View 11 RepliesI have been taking antidepressant for almost an year. I changed few brands, nothing was helpful for me.
Recently I learned that there is a genetic test for antidepressant. I wonder if I can order it by Internet. I live outside of US and here there is no chance to find one.
Do you know if it's possible to order genetic test kid by Internet?
Feeling a little better taking hrt and 10 mg app citalopram - but almost immediately my libido has vanished - this is devastating. Anyone know a medication that does not interfere with this please? Love to hear your experiences?
View 2 Replies3 days ago I decided to stop taking mirtazapine 45 mg but since then I have not had any appetite for any foods at all. Is this a normal symptom.
View 1 RepliesI recently started a low dose (5 mg) of Brintellix 4 days ago, and I've had a headache every day. I'm wondering if it's common to get headaches when first starting an antidepressant and how long I should give it before I decide to stop. My Dr. said to give it a week, but I'm not sure that's long enough based on some stuff I've read. I can't tolerate most antidepressants, which is why I'm hoping this side effect will go away. I was just wondering what others' experiences are when starting a new AD, even if it wasn't Brintellix. Are start up headaches common, and do they normally go away?
