I suffer from headaches quite frequently. I also get episodes of a numb feeling down my right side. The headache is not always there.
My GP and a neurologist think it's migraine. I take propranolol and it doesn't stop it.
Could it be migraine?
I've been having migraine headaches, pressure headaches, dizziness and nausea. I kept chalking it all up to menopause. Because as most of you know, so many of these symptoms are menopause.
Last Friday, Jan 2nd at around 7:30PM my boyfriend and I were leaving a restaurant, suddenly I started getting shocks in my right leg like my leg was falling asleep, while I was walking to the car. This shocking feeling quickly radiated up my arm and into my head, all on the right side. My boyfriend quickly started toward the hospital. On the way I lost the ability to formulate sentences and words. I would say one sentence and a totally different sentence would come out. I would try to say one word and a totally different word came out. Being a former medic the only word I wanted to relay was "stroke". It felt like someone had tasted my right side. It was the most frightening thing I'd ever experienced and I was awake for the entire ride. After getting to the hospital I was in the ER for about 3 hours. Then sent to Neurology/Stroke ward. For the next few days I had a battery of MRI's, EEG, EKG's, CT Scans, Blood Work, Ultrasounds and a Spinal (Lumbar Punch). Within 6 or so hours I was able to formulate sentences and say words again. I forced myself the entire time. My right side started getting feeling back within a few days. I still have some numbness in my right hand and am experiencing peripheral neuropathy symptoms in my right leg and foot.
The neurologist found a mass in my brain. Thanks be to God that it is benign. I just found out yesterday that I am cancer free. However, they still don't know what the mass is. It could be a tumor or a jelly bean I stuffed in my nose as a child. (joking) But we won't know for a while.Also it might be inoperable too. I will be seeing the Dr on the 13th for an MRI Rx. In a month we'll do the MRI and see what has happened with this mass. Is the edema gone, has it shrunk or grown? Things like that.
Is anyone else getting headaches like constantly? I literally get headaches every day sometimes more than once. Some times like a migraine, sometimes just like a little pinch in my head, I don't know what to do.
View 5 RepliesM.29. Good health and have been getting serious headaches while masterbating. This has happened before and but never on this magnitude. I was in the shower mas. And as I became closer and closer to ejactulating this headache appeared and became so strong I could not continue mast. I have never had a migraine before but this headache hurt so bad I couldn't move. I had to call for help to my wife in the other room. Long story short. Aspirin ib or whatever was in the house I took. Hot caffeinated tea. Coffee works too. Quite dark room. Focus on relaxing and breathing. Lay down and put ice pack where on your head. Feels like u wanna get up and rip ur head off but don't do it.
View 1 RepliesI decided a few days ago that I am going to try a Migraine free diet. I love to eat (I'm lucky I have always been thin) and this is a desperate measure, I must tell you. I had 3 migraines last week. If anyone has read my last thread you can see that I used to have only 1 real migraine a month and daily mediocre to severe tension headaches. 3 migraines in a week made me feel broken. I didn't have a headache all weekend, weird, but welcome! My husband is being really supportive and that is a huge plus. Anyone have any advice or thoughts on this diet? Or on reintroducing items?
View 4 RepliesOver the past year and a half, I have been struggling with headaches every other day. I also have been having a racing heart, but not as often. Once a month or so. I've been to a PT, massage therapist, a headache specialist, and a chiropractor. My chiropractor thinks it is from stress, but when I am visibly stressed - I don't get a headache. I was thinking it was from something that I am eating, but I cannot find a common pattern in my food diaries. Maybe gluten or dairy? or is it really stress??
I did notice today that I had a monster migraine when I got to work. I was anticipating a very stressful day at work (it was fine though) and after I got home and had dinner - my headache was gone.
I've been diagnosed with hyperlipidaemia and high blood pressure. I've started taking 20mg of Lipitor few weeks ago to help me maintain LDL and total cholesterol levels. My doctor who prescribed Lipitor told me that it should also help with my hypertension. But since I've been taking it I got a terrible migraine headache. I was literally unable to get up or to do anything. The migraine pain is especially severe during the night. I could barely sleep. I never had a migraine before, just regular headaches, but not too often. I also got diarrhea and really bad smell when passing gas. Sometimes I feel nausea and cramps in my stomach. I've read that ingredient of Lipitor called atorvastatin calcium could be a cause of migraine headaches and other symptoms I'm experiencing. My doctor is unavailable until January, so I discontinued Lipitor by myself because I think it actually caused a migraine. Has anyone had any experience with Lipitor and migraine headaches while using it?
View 8 RepliesI had a minor car accident 18 months ago and my neurologist diagnosed. Me with post concussion. Syndrome which is basically migraine symptoms.
However since October 2013 I have not only suffered severe headaches I have had increased headaches using computers, phones, reading and can not even go near a tv screen without setting off a major migraine attack.
I am currently taking lamotrigine and zonisamide for my migraines.
Does anyone else suffer with similar symptoms and if so is there any help out there as this is life debilitating. I cannot work and it has changed my family life considerably. I have not worked since October last year.
I never suffered from migraine attacks until I was in my mid-40's.
They seemed to be linked to the beginning of hormonal changes related to the start of menopause. I would get a pain over my left eye (usually, though right occasionally), with a feeling of nausea and sometimes slight numb feeling on the side of my face. I would turn quite a pale white colour, and also feel very tired, yawning a lot. I would take medication, migraleve tablets and lay down in a darkened room. Usually, I would recover within 24 hours, though I would feel 'worn out' for a few days after the attack.
Since I have discovered by self analysis, that citrus fruits, especially orange juice (which I no longer drink), chocolate and strong coffee all seem to be triggers, which I try to avoid.
For the last five years, I have been clear of migraines, but have now started to get them again. I have passed the menopause but have had a lot of stress in my life recently, so I wonder if this is the cause of the recurrence? My last attack was quite different from the others I have experienced, in that I was feeling fine (though had been really tired the day before for no apparent reason) when I suddenly developed black zigzag lines across my left eye (very frightening at first). These went on for about 10 minutes and then slowly I developed a severe migraine, though this was not over one particular eye, but both. I had feelings of nausea and also felt cold at times. I took Migraleve pink and yellow but the headache is still persisting the next day. I wonder why I developed these other symptoms of visual disturbance. Can stress really do this to your body?!
PS I know there is a family history of migraine.
I had classic migraines through my teenage years which stopped for a couple of years before continuing at on average one every couple of months with the odd instance of a back to back cluster of 3-10 at once. They were always the same 20 minute aura then axe in the head pain and repeated vomiting for 6 hours followed by a 24hr hangover. Over the years I have tried all preventers with only Epilim and Topiramate working for 18 months. I built up tolerance to Epilim and Topiramate gave me side effects that ended in a blood disorder so cannot take either any more. Beta blockers and antidepressants never worked and Lisinopril was also a short lived waste of time. The only triptan that ever worked was Maxalt rizatriptan but again it lost its effect after 6 months. Something weird has now happened and I wonder if others have had this? I am now 36 and in the last 6 months my migraines have totally changed. I still get the aura but if I take Express Nurofen and an anti sickness tablet straight away or use a heat pack on the back of the neck no pain or sickness comes just 6 hours of extreme tiredness. I always used to throw up any tablets so this is a miracle however the frequency has stepped up to between 5 and 20 a month so it is really impacting on my life. I have had an MRI and all is normal. I have also tried supplements and alternative therapies with no success. Botox and nerve blockers are the next suggestion but will they treat this scenario if there is no pain? Will it stop the aura too and prevent the whole episode? Help!
View 13 Repliesi had sex 3 to 4 times on 30th of march then next day i took unwanted 72..my periods were due on 6th april..and i got them perfectly on time but a day earlier then my periods i started getting one problem i.e of frequent urination..and its continuing till date! almost reaching the end of urination i get a weird feeling and i am not able to distinguish whether it's burning sensation or of coming!
and yes by frequent urination i mean two times within half an hour!
if i put pressure after urinating few drops always come and i also get the feeling that bladder is not empty yet.
im facing too much of wet dreams .... after every one day ... at night i go through this ... sperm comes out in quite good amount ... but this has become very frequent .... and i feel some pain in my penis when sperm comes out ...
View 6 RepliesWhenever I stand up after sitting for a few hours, I feel extremely dizzy and sometimes my vision just kinda black out and become blur for at least a few seconds. I know this is common if you have been sitting for too long. But I have it very frequently, at least 2-3 times a day. I don't used to have this last time even if I sat down for quite a long period.
I have been eating well and sleeping well. My blood pressure measures 92/62 which I suppose is in the healthy zone. My family and boyfriend said I have lost weight, but I still look the same
From 5-6 days I have been experiencing frequent and excessive urination. The urine is totally clear. And as soon as I finish urinating I feel that I want to urinate more with the feeling that the urine gets collected above the privates. The urine is colourless. And all my urine reports have been clear with specific gravity of 1.010-1.012 and some 4-5 hpf of pus and epithelial cells
View 1 RepliesI am not constipated as stools are soft and formed but my problem is incomplete bowel movements. I can go at eight o'clock in the morning and then get an urgent desire about one hour later and then again and all this before lunchtime. It causes difficulties for me with keeping appointments and my bowels rarely feel empty for very long.
I am wondering if adhesions could be the cause of this phenomena as I have had four lower abdominal operations over a period of years.
Been suffering from migraine since I was 18. I am now 41. My migraines are changing and at the mo the pain is coming from my neck and back pain. I have had this horrible migraine for more than a week now. Pain in the neck, back of my head and side of my head. I feel sick and dizzy. I have been signed off from work, but need to get better as I can't afford to be off work. I am at the end of my tether. I feel so down and to top it all I came on my period today and am in pain with that. I don't know what to do anymore.
View 1 RepliesI already have a low to medium risk for diabetes. I have PCOS and Hashimoto's disease, am overweight, And my grandmother had diabetes (but is currently in remission). I ask, because I've been looking At a few online sites, and symptoms I've had for years (or even most of my life) seem to be dead giveaways for diabetes. Fatigue, frequent urination (including at night) way more than the recommended 8 times a day, I recently put on weight for no obvious reason, I am constantly hungry (if not starving), even after eating, and recently I've been very thirsty.
I've been tested a few times, and when I was pregnant they checked too, and it's always come back negative. Could I be boarder line? Or do I just have a bunch of symptoms I'll never get rid of?
Since I had CABG 4 (quad by-pass heart surgery) 10 years ago I have (too) frequent urinations. These aren't just a false urges, but the real McCoy. At night I have to get up 4-5 times. When I get up in the morning usually around 6 AM I have to go, afterwards in less than 6-7 minutes the urge is there again. I have measured typical urinations in the daytime to be usually 5-6 ounces. Last week on a long trip that required a full days drive I was within 20 miles of home and on a long bridge tunnel system in heavy 4-lane traffic when the urge hit (big-time.) I had made a rest stop about 40 miles back, but the urge was back. There was no way to stop and it could no longer be held. As I entered the tunnel I managed to shift a newspaper under my bottom in order to maybe not soak the seat. Fortunately, I had a large mouth empty water bottle, which I managed to arrange (I thought.) In the long tunnel and very heavy traffic at 55 mph I gave it a go, which was about 65% successful. My meds are Simvastatin, Metoprolol, Welchol and Tamsulosin (Flomax.)
View 5 RepliesSince doctors don't seem to want to help me figure out what's wrong, I'm trying to investigate my various symptoms to find potential diseases to rule out.
For the past two and a half years, I've had a problem with frequent urination. No incontinence of any kind, but I tend to pee on average 12-20 times a day. Sometimes I'll be up one or two times at night, sometimes more and sometimes not at all. I DO drink quite a bit of fluid. I tend to average 50-100+ ounces of fluid a day. Usually once a day I'll have a cup of tea, but I don't drink a ton of coffee or any soda at all. I am always thirsty, feel dehydrated all the time, mouth is dry, lips are chapped, light headed and dizzy often, even on the days I'm drinking 100+ ounces of water. I work in an office and don't do anything strenuous that results in sweating. When I do pee, sometimes it's only ten or fifteen minutes before I have to go again. Most of the time, I'm producing a full volume of pee, almost never is it just a few drops or a little bit. My urinalysis and cultures come back normal.
Went to the gynecologist today, he said my bladder is working fine and that when I pee, I am emptying my bladder all the way. His suggestion was to drink less. I'm thinking a 31 year old woman who does not have diabetes or a UTI that's lasted for 2.5 years shouldn't not only have this constant need to pee, but also this constant need to drink and feeling of dehydration. I went to a neuroendocrinologist because I truly believe with my other symptoms, I have some kind of pituitary problem going on (Cushings and/or GHD) but he laughed and blew me off because Hey, it's rare, therefore you don't have it.
Should I ask my PCP about looking into MS? In addition to the frequent urination, I have a great deal of cognitive issues (memory loss / retention problems, concentration problems, shortened attention span, sometimes can't speak properly), depression and anxiety, eye issues (wicked light sensitive, blurry vision, hurts to look up or to the sides), stiff and painful joints and muscles, muscle weakness, occasional tingling in hands or feet, INCREDIBLY fatigued, dizziness and lightheadedness, vertigo, occasional balance issues, and trembling / vibrations in body.
I have entered week 17 but still I am still facing frequent urination problem. does anybody have any idea about it.
View 1 RepliesAbout 3 weeks ago I had a brief encounter of unprotected vaginal sex. it lasted about 15 seconds. The last day or so, I have had the urge to urinate often. Maybe about every 15 minutes. I go a small amount and then its ok, for another 15 minutes or so. I see no other symptoms...Could It be an STD?
