View 2 RepliesAfter being advised by my GP a few months ago to stop my Evorel conti (I was using half a patch) my symptoms returned with full force. So I put back the full patch 50micrograms. I have been experiencing spotting and period like pains, breast tenderness and slight headaches. I am attributing this to upping my dose of Evorel. I was actually doing fine on my half a patch. I have started to trim down the 50 patch now and see if that helps.
View 4 RepliesI never suffered from migraine attacks until I was in my mid-40's.
They seemed to be linked to the beginning of hormonal changes related to the start of menopause. I would get a pain over my left eye (usually, though right occasionally), with a feeling of nausea and sometimes slight numb feeling on the side of my face. I would turn quite a pale white colour, and also feel very tired, yawning a lot. I would take medication, migraleve tablets and lay down in a darkened room. Usually, I would recover within 24 hours, though I would feel 'worn out' for a few days after the attack.
Since I have discovered by self analysis, that citrus fruits, especially orange juice (which I no longer drink), chocolate and strong coffee all seem to be triggers, which I try to avoid.
For the last five years, I have been clear of migraines, but have now started to get them again. I have passed the menopause but have had a lot of stress in my life recently, so I wonder if this is the cause of the recurrence? My last attack was quite different from the others I have experienced, in that I was feeling fine (though had been really tired the day before for no apparent reason) when I suddenly developed black zigzag lines across my left eye (very frightening at first). These went on for about 10 minutes and then slowly I developed a severe migraine, though this was not over one particular eye, but both. I had feelings of nausea and also felt cold at times. I took Migraleve pink and yellow but the headache is still persisting the next day. I wonder why I developed these other symptoms of visual disturbance. Can stress really do this to your body?!
PS I know there is a family history of migraine.
I had classic migraines through my teenage years which stopped for a couple of years before continuing at on average one every couple of months with the odd instance of a back to back cluster of 3-10 at once. They were always the same 20 minute aura then axe in the head pain and repeated vomiting for 6 hours followed by a 24hr hangover. Over the years I have tried all preventers with only Epilim and Topiramate working for 18 months. I built up tolerance to Epilim and Topiramate gave me side effects that ended in a blood disorder so cannot take either any more. Beta blockers and antidepressants never worked and Lisinopril was also a short lived waste of time. The only triptan that ever worked was Maxalt rizatriptan but again it lost its effect after 6 months. Something weird has now happened and I wonder if others have had this? I am now 36 and in the last 6 months my migraines have totally changed. I still get the aura but if I take Express Nurofen and an anti sickness tablet straight away or use a heat pack on the back of the neck no pain or sickness comes just 6 hours of extreme tiredness. I always used to throw up any tablets so this is a miracle however the frequency has stepped up to between 5 and 20 a month so it is really impacting on my life. I have had an MRI and all is normal. I have also tried supplements and alternative therapies with no success. Botox and nerve blockers are the next suggestion but will they treat this scenario if there is no pain? Will it stop the aura too and prevent the whole episode? Help!
View 13 RepliesI've gotten eczema rashes for the past few years in very small patches on my upper arms and back. While annoying, it was not a big deal. But last week I washed my face and it felt irritated on my forehead. The next day when I looked in the mirror, the entire left side of my forehead had become a rough leathery patch. I was able to get it to go away by softly rubbing away the thickened skin in the shower, but over the course of the week, I have started to develop the same irritated, flaking and thickened skin on my eyelid, below both my eyes, under my bottom lip and on one of my cheeks. I went to the dermatologist who prescribed a ketoconazole and to start washing/moisturizing with cetaphil.
But I'm pretty embarrassed about these patches on my face and the dryness is super uncomfortable so I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get it to go away faster.
I went to the doctors 3 weeks ago with red patches under me foreskin and a single spot on the head. Doctor diagnosed a fungal infection and prescribed canesten 2%. 3 weeks later, it's not getting better. If anything, it's getting worse and I'm starting to worry now. I've never had unprotected sex and I haven't had any sex in a few years.
View 6 RepliesI have brown patches on my face and my doctor has told me they may be a side effect from the contraceptive pill, but that is just a possibility.I don't want to change my method of contraception but i'm willing to if these brown patches disappear my doctor doesn't seem to know a lot and there's just no way I can afford to see a dermatologist.

I discovered the herald patch last December and noticed pink blothes appearing on my stomach and back which I assumed was dry skin so just moistuirsed, they eventually faded to leave pale patches so I consulted my doctor and he diagnosed Pityraisis Versicolur, I was sure it was P.R due to the herald patch?? Anyway I used Nizoral cream and went on a sunbed determined to get rid of it before my wedding in May. The faded patches began to tan and no further pink patches appeared until I returned from my honeymoon, the tan appeared to have fallen off my pale patches and the doctor assumed it had returned so prescribed a course of Sparanox capsules and selsun shampoo, after this lots of pink and very itchy/burning pink patches appeared so I stopped the shampoo and they seemed to calm down, with the use of sunbeds they would dissapear then only very slightly reappear. We were taking our young children to Spain for a week so I was really depressed about either pale or pink patches re-appearing I've never felt so down in my life. Much to my surprise I was fine and it kept at bay until again I returned home and more pink patches appeared again very itchy.
My doctor now thinks I have Chronic Urricaria but I'm not convinced, has anybody else experienced pale patches with P.R and how have you managed to keep it at bay? It has been 8 months now on and very slightly off and it is affecting my relationship with my husband and children due to my mood swings and being very irritable :-(
I posted earlier about problems getting evorel sequi patches and now my consultant has advised me to carry on with my evorel conti patches until I see him again on the 21st January.....this is despite me only seeing him a fortnight ago when he advised a change of my patches as I was suffering from really bad anxiety attacks!
So, if I've got to stick with these patches until then has anyone got any really good tips for helping me deal with these, the attacks are bad enough in the day, but when they wake me in the night they seem twice as severe.
I'm 18 and 7 months pregnant with my 2nd child. I also just found our my ex gave me HPV. We had had sex even after I got pregnant and it kinda hurt but I figured it was just the pregnancy b/c that's how it was when I was prego with my son but for months now my whole "area" has been itching and burning really bad. And now I have this really creamy discharge type stuff all over my labia and these little flat bumps. I'm not sure if they're warts or not. I still need to talk to my gyno. But I can't have sex and if I touch or scratch that area or pee is hurts really bad. But I'm worried b/c it hurts and burns and itches sooo bad and I've heard all kinds of things about cancer and warts and whatnot so I could really use some advice.
View 1 Repliescan anyone tell me which way they found the best, i don't really want to go on patches etc and i've heard bad reports on champix. I,ve tried acupuncture and found i cut down, but we all know what happens, creep back to full smoking again.
View 12 RepliesI had a vitrectomy for a macular pucker a year and a half ago. The main symptom was distortion. After the surgery, I had gray patches in my field of vision, which I hoped would go away in time, since the surgeon said it might take a year for full recovery. Needless to say, I still have the gray patches, cannot read with that eye, and the doctor brushed me off without ever explaining what was going on, as did two other ophthalmologists. I developed the expected cataract and had cataract surgery two days ago. It went fine and was "successful," but I still have patchy vision in that eye. Does anyone know anything about it and if anything can be done? I assume it is the damage to the receptors when the scar tissue was pulled up.
View 1 RepliesI now have a date for a vulval biopsy as the specialist thinks it may be LS. There is a white patch there - which amazed me because two GPs told me that there were no white patches.
Anyway I need to have this biopsy done mid July - my GP told me that if it does show LS then in all likelihood they would want to remove the white patch (vulval surgery scares me to bits!). He said the steroid creams are not much good and they prefer to take the bit away in the hope that it will remove the risk of cancer developing. I am left wondering a) how painful is that op, has anyone had it done? It will be under a local anaesthetic I think. and b) would LS come back and I need to have it all done again?
2 weeks been there someone help don't know what they are !?
View 2 RepliesI have ulcer type sores covering my mouth, random patches of bleeding on the inside of my mouth and behind my lips and white marks on my mouth cheeks. I am concerned this could be mouth cancer, but I am only a teen. How can I determine whether this is an infection or an abnormality?I am currently on no medication,
View 1 RepliesI have just been diagnosed with LP vulvar, it has also affected my breasts and small patches on my torso. I've had it for a long time and just didn't know what it was, with flare ups that come and go- everywhere but the vulva, which has been rather constant and suddenly got worse about a month ago. Been in agony with the vulvar part for the past week because taking antibiotics for an ear infection meant severe thrush also got thrown into the mix.
The doctor said it was unusual for someone of my age to suffer from lichen planus (I'm 26), so I have to go to a dermatologist for their review. I'm also an IBS sufferer, I noticed on a lot of other posts that many people that mentioned LP/LS also have IBS.
I've been given Trimovate but, so far, the only thing that stops the itching long enough for me to get to sleep is Vagisil, which I'm worried will cause problems long-term even though it brings temporary relief.
I'm dreading going back to work tomorrow and don't know when/whether I'll get my sex life back with my amazing boyfriend. Feeling really rubbish
For the past year, I've been losing my eyebrows in patches. Patches will grow back, but then fall out weeks/moths later. I'm a 38-year-old female, healthy and fit. Recent blood work all normal. Thyroids normal. I'm not losing hair anywhere else, and my skin has no redness or dryness. It is just my eyebrows that keep falling out. The only thing I could think of was my birth control--I was on the Mirena IUD. But I removed it and ceased all birth control several months ago and the problem persists. All doctors I've visited have been stumped, thus my online question.
View 2 RepliesBeen suffering from migraine since I was 18. I am now 41. My migraines are changing and at the mo the pain is coming from my neck and back pain. I have had this horrible migraine for more than a week now. Pain in the neck, back of my head and side of my head. I feel sick and dizzy. I have been signed off from work, but need to get better as I can't afford to be off work. I am at the end of my tether. I feel so down and to top it all I came on my period today and am in pain with that. I don't know what to do anymore.
View 1 RepliesAs of late I have been suffering with a multitude of symptoms, starting about 4 months ago with stiff neck. From there it progressed to chronic "brain fog" (or feeling like I had one too many beers) sinus pressure, now a 4 day "head ache" on my left temple, behind and above left eye and left side of neck. The pressure is insane, I went to the doctor about it yesterday and she told me to just take an antihistamine and get massage. I have seen a neurologist for the brain fog and have an MRI schedule but not until September. I am due to go away in a week to work at a camp for 3 weeks and wondering if this pressure persists if I should go to the ER before I go away to get checked. My name sister died from a brain aneurysm and so I am nervous I have one! Any info or advice would be helpful. Oh I also have had stomach pains like dull ache, my eyes are also sore but I got t eyes tested and they are fine a little dry that's all.
I should also mention I just had a baby 6 months ago.
Is anyone else getting headaches like constantly? I literally get headaches every day sometimes more than once. Some times like a migraine, sometimes just like a little pinch in my head, I don't know what to do.
