Microgynon ED 30 :: Take It To Control My Periods
Jun 1, 2015
I have been on the pill (Microgynon) for a year and a half now. At first I was taking it for contraception, but now I take it to control my periods. I have not experienced any of the side effects that are listed in the leaflets that come with it. I have always been lucky with it and not had any issues!
A couple of weeks ago I decided to take one pack after the other (I've done this before - no issues with it!) as I was going on holiday. Everything is going fine and there is no sign of my period.
I go away again in under two weeks, my period will be due on the Sunday (my first day away) and obviously I don't want this.
I have two options here, leave my last 7 pills and have my period early (again, I am NOT using this pill for contraception at the moment) or take another pack immediately after this pack has finished and miss another period.
(I have not experienced any bleeding whenever I have taken one pack after the other, I have not missed two periods in a row before though).

I'm going on a holiday in a couple of days time, and My period will clash with the holiday. So I went to the doctor to request for pills to delay my period, and the doctor gave me microgynon 30. After taking the first pill yesterday, my 'period' came. The 'period' is really light, unlike my previous month's periods.
So firstly, is that 'period', my actual period? Or is my actual period going to come a few days later. My actual period is due to come around this period too.
Secondly, if the 'period' isn't my actual period, do I still continue taking the pills to delay my period?
Lastly, if it's my actual period, am I able to stop taking the pill completely and let the period continue? Would it have any effects on my period only?
P/s I know that this pill is a birth control pill, but I'm only taking it to delay my period and not for contraceptive purposes

This is my third month on Microgynon 30, and I ran two packets back to back because of a party I was going to, but a few days after I started taking the second pack I had some slight bleeding. I didn't think anything of it because I was told this can happen for a few days. It's a few weeks later now and it's still happening. It's only very light bleeding (it does vary a bit, sometimes there's nothing, but it's never been enough to have to wear a pad). I think I've learnt my lesson that my body just doesn't accept two back-to-back so I probably won't do it again, I just wanted to make sure it was nothing to worry about!
Apart from this everything has worked fine for me on it so I really don't want to swap to another pill!

I take Microgynon 30 and have been for 10 months, I've never missed a pill or taken one late until this month. I take it at 8.10am everyday but on 26th June took it at 10.20am instead (2 hours 10 minutes late).
I had condomless sex 3 times in the week before (20th, 21st, 23rd), will I still have been protected?
I then waited seven days to have sex again after I took it late.

I started taking Microgynon 30 about half way through my cycle (I think I had finished ovulating when I started, but I'm not completely sure). I was wondering if I would get my period as normal this month, or if the Microgynon would delay it until I finish the pack (like it would if I had started it at the start of my cycle)? If I do have my period as normal, will it be shorter/lighter this month?

I've had a lot of breakthrough bleeding the last few weeks and am looking into changing my pill. However I'm going to a spa weekend this weekend and read online that to help with break through bleeding you can take two pills on one day and then carry on as normal. I have done this and hope to carry on with my normal pack tomorrow however all day I have felt very nauseous and have had a dodgy tummy constantly on the toilet. Is this because of the extra hormones my body isn't taking it very well? I did take them on an empty stomach stupidly as it was early and I didn't really think. Just worried I'm going to be really ill.

My boyfriend and I wanted to have sex the 2nd time around. We are both 19 years old and still not ready for any pregnancy. We were planning to have sex the day after my period (which I think would be on March 26) and we agreed that he should STILL wear condoms for extra protection. We used condom before, before he reach climax he pulled out of me, removed the condom and worked on his buddy for about 3 minutes and ejaculated. Someone on other site that pulling out with condom is unsafe, that's why i'm a little confused now. So my questions are:
1. Is our plan of having sex right after my period okay as one of our birth control methods?
2. Is pulling out (w/ the condom on his penis) before he ejaculates really unsafe?
3. Sex right after period ends plus condom: are there still any chances of me getting pregnant?

I had hormones tested and I am in menopause. I have not had a period in 4 years. Only been off the pill for a month after being on it for a long time. I am told I should still use condoms for birth control, which myself and hubby don't like at all. Chances of getting pregnant may not be likely but can happen. I really prefer to use nothing, but I don't want to end up with a pregnancy at this age. Anyone in their 40's and 50's have gone through this? What was your choice of birth control when the doctor takes you off the pill? Should I not worry about it and use zero protection? Do you think my doctor is being ridiculous?

I've had my implanon out for two weeks after having it in for 2 yrs and 8 months. I did not have a period the whole time I was on it. Now after 2 weeks I have had a couple days of brown discharge and 1 day of light pink discharge. I have not had sex since having it removed but did have sex about a week prior. Does anyone know how long after removal it takes for flow to return and why I keep getting the discharge?

I've been on the Implanon Birth Control for a good 4 months now. I had a weird discharge of old blood a week after it was effective. Since then i haven't had a period at all. It's been months now. Also having stomach pains every night for the past 2 weeks. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

My doctor has me on the nuvaring to skip periods altogether. I was having 2-3 of them a month. For the first 4 month of the nuvaring it was a godsend. Zero periods to speak of, and finally I had a sense of freedom. The pill didn't he'll regulate them at all and this was the first time I felt comfortable just leaving my house. Last month I had some breakthrough bleeding, which I was expecting, I had read then happened, but now I'm on my FOURTH week of a period that just won't stop!! Some days it's bright red, some days brown and clotty. Some days its very light and not very noticeable but he cramps are ever present!! It started halfway through the end of one ring and now we are 1 week away from the next new ring.

I'm living in a country where it's hard to get the contraceptive pill (Japan). I brought some with me but have almost run out, which doesn't really bother me as I am not sexually active and don't plan to be any time soon. In a few months I will go on a vacation and I really don't want to have my period while on vacation. If I save the remaining pills (seven), would it be okay to take these before the vacation to ensure I won't get my period? Is it safe to take the pill for only 7 days as a once-off, and if so is there a specific time before the vacation I should take them?
