I wake up every half hour during the night - is this menopause sleeping pattern? Any good supplements for insomnia - magnesium doesn't seem to help.

View 7 RepliesI have been suffering from insomnia for the past 2 months. It all came suddenly. I had shifted to a new country and had been living there for one month when this problem started. Initially, I stayed up extremely late- till early in the morning at 5 am and would fall asleep and wake up at 12 pm or later. But slowly, I ended up sleeping less and less. Nowadays, I can only sleep for 2-3 hours at most, and I end up waking every hour, and have extremely vivid dreams. I yawn throughout the day. When I do fall asleep during the day it is only for 30 mins or so, during which I have vivid dreams of me doing something or talking to someone. When I wake up I realise it was just a dream- but it was so like real life that its hard to distinguish it from reality. I also sometimes wake up drenched in sweat. I am so scared this might be fatal insomnia. What should I do? Try as I might, I cannot go off to sleep at night. I am so scared. Its as if I have lost the power to sleep. There is no history of fate insomnia in my family. But I have heard of a disease called sporadic fatal insomnia which doesn’t require a family history. I am 27 years old.
View 2 RepliesSo I have a question about taking the pill half an hour late. Is it normal to get anywhere from spotting to your actual period a few days after taking the pill half an hour late?
I'm 20 and have been on the pill since 14. I've tried YAZ (the best by far but not covered by health care) and a few others, currently on the generic brand of Levlen Ed.
Only recently, say the last 1 - 2 years I have noticed that my body is working almost like clockwork when it comes to taking the pill. If I take it anywhere from even just 15min late (though typically occurs from half an hour late), I will undoubtedly get spotting or even my period a few days later.
I cannot find anyone on internet forums who experiences the same. A couple of hours maybe but not to this extent. Most women say they can take theirs hours apart with no effect.
My question is, is this normal and why has it only been the last few years? My body used to work just fine with the pill.
I'm lucky to get 3 hours of sleep even with taking ambien. I've tried every natural supplement there is. Within the past 3 weeks I wake up at 3am no matter what time I go to bed like clockwork.
Feels like a shot of adrenaline or cortisol at that time. Even though I'm exhausted my mind will not shutdown.
I find it really hard to sleep at night, It almost like my body is exhausted but my brain won't shut off.
I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and one of the symptoms is insomnia. I can't sleep at night but when i finally get to sleep and my brain has shut down when it comes to getting up in the morning for work, I can't. I sleep through alarms, people could be screaming down my ear, world war 3 could be happening and i wouldn't wake up.
I don't have any problem falling asleep, the longest it takes if 20 minutes sometimes. But I ONLY sleep for 5 hours, maybe 6 if I'm lucky. So I try to make myself stay up until 11pm so I can get up at my normal time of 5am. This is very hard because I will usually fall asleep in front of the tv around 9/930.I get up from the couch around 1030/11 and go to my bed, but then wake up at 3 am like clockwork. Last night I fell asleep in front of the tv at 930, got into my bed at 1030, but then woke up at 230! I usually can't fall back asleep either, or maybe dose in and out if I'm lucky. My mind is already awake then.I tried Melatonin years ago, and it worked for the first couple of days to a week. But then I built up a resistance to it and I had to keep increasing the dosage until it didn't help at all anymore.I have gone through different prescribed meds that didn't really work. The one that worked the best(Trazodone) had a side effect that I didn't like(woke up with an extremely dry mouth), and I built up a resistance to that too. I just wanted to see if there were any other meds out there, OTC or prescription, that may work?
View 1 RepliesI'm curious, I'm still trying to determine whether I have RLS or just normal insomnia. Here are my questions if you would be so kind;
Are you waking up at totally random times at night or do you wake up at the same time every night?
How many times do you wake up per night?
Can you feel it's due to leg movement?
I've been on Propranolol 80mg for my migraines which have worked very well. One issue with them is that I can wake up during the night and I have great difficulty in getting back to sleep. This results in me being quite tired during the day, as I drive 45mins to get to the office and sometimes 4-5 hours if I'm on site then it was a concern.
I saw the doctor on Friday and he suggested trying Pizotifen, he told me they can cause drowsiness but if I take it at night then I should be OK by the morning.
I've been reading through the experiences here and I'm not too sure about taking them now, I haven't been to the pharmacy with the prescription and I'm unsure whether to bother.
Hi since last ear in April I've had really bad anxiety . Its to the point where I wake up and in my head I say ' whats the point of living if I dont eat much , if I'm constantly thinking of things , and the fear of me dying soon ' . Is this normal ? I'm scared to sleep at night cause I'm afraid I won't wake up ! I often pray to God that he doesn't take me or neither of my family members yet . Not till we're 100 !! But I feel like he will take me soon . This is really stressing me out ! To the point where my appetite is off and I overthink so much . I'm in tears.

View 1 RepliesI'm currently taking Zopiclone (7.5mg) and am now on my third consecutive prescription of it having had an initial 7 days (which didn't work), a further 7 days (which worked some of the time) and now have 14 days, which my doctor has told me to "take as and when needed".
The problem is, most of the time they just don't make me sleep. I become drowsy, fall asleep but then ALWAYS wake up at least once or twice during the night, regardless. I end up waking up feeling groggy and fuzzy headed.
Years ago I was prescribed Temazepam followed by amitriptyline, both for insomnia, but neither of those worked either. I think I'm running out of options.
I hadn't realised until very recently that 7.5mg was the higher dose of the tablets (as opposed to 3.75mg), but is it ok to take one and a half or two at night (occasionally) when I'm in desperate need for some proper sleep?
I'm already on Sertraline (100mg) and Propranolol (10mg x 6 per day) so I'm conscious of not being irresponsible with them... But I REALLY need to sleep!
I have been reading up on Premarin and I see the lowest dose is .03 mg is it possible to cut that in half .15mg and will it help hot flashes? I need help with menopause symptoms I am in full menopause have not had a period since age of 45 and am now 52 and in full menopause. Not sleeping, hot flashes...... Am kinda of scared of taking this but need help I also have Graves' disease.
View 6 RepliesI've had a lot of mucous in my throat for over 10 years but have had constant heartburn for 5 years.. For the past 6 or 7 months I wake up through the night choking on acid.. Could there be something seriously wrong?!

View 14 RepliesI am 45 years old. I had a normal period in Jan and Feb. Then nothing in March, April or May, then in June and July severe cramps, bloating and light spotting. When I urinate there are blood clots but no bleeding. Im also experiencing night sweats. Should I be worried, I don't have an appointment till late August.
View 1 RepliesI posted in epilepsy earlier. I couldn't find the sleep boards. I am suspicious I have epilepsy but I wanted to see if anyone else has experience with this. I have severe sleep myoclonus that occurs every night all night. It causes me and jerk and I usually see a flash of light and hear a clicking sound. This occurs over and over so I hardly ever sleep. Does anyone have any experience with this?

View 5 Repliesanyone at 28 weeks or more actually keep track of the 10 movements every hour?
Is less really a problem?
my baby moves around the same times everyday but there are certain times a day that she doesn't but its always been the same since i could feel her move at 20 weeks. Like if she's sleeping or something so my question is, do you really have to call your doctor if for one hour she/he doesn't move at least 10 times?
Have any of your baby's had a similar rotation or schedule i guess you can call it, for movement?

View 1 RepliesThe doctor told me I could take it anytime but it wasn't working. It was only after being admitted to hospital for Hypertension that the nurse told me I should take Omeprazole 2 hours before breakfast. I now make sure I take it at least 1 hour before breakfast and it works much better .
View 1 RepliesI recently had a cold, with some sinus issues, first time ever and I'm 36, not allergic to anything. The sinus has now cleared, 95%, still have some yellow mucus coming out when I blow my nose, but only on right side and not as much as yesterday or day before, but left with an ear that is half deaf and crackles when it hears a lot of noises at once (crackles or sounds like a waterfall, difficult to explain). Can hear fine with my left ear. There's also some ringing in the ear. Slight. Is this something that will clear up with time or do I need to see a doctor? I did finish my antibiotics this morning.I can also say that I'm a bit off balance, I won't say dizzy or vertigo, just half off balance when I walk. Not enough to fall over. Thanks in advance
