Menopause :: Sinus Congestion/ Headcold 1week Before Period
Mar 11, 2016
Does anyone else suffer from sinus type problems during menstrual cycle.
I have been keeping a diary and have noticed that about a week before my period is due I start suffering sinus problems eg stuffy nose, blocked ears, congestion and fuzzy headed sometimes dizzyfish.
I keep explaining to my Dr that this keeps happening but he is not convinced there is a link. I'm sorry but my diary says otherwise.

56 and my last period was 17 months ago. I remember as I was away on holiday and it was really heavy but nothing since. It's been really lovely not having to worry about pads and tampons. Then about 2 weeks ago got really tender breasts like I used to but not the old low feeling etc. Yesterday a period started , at the moment not heavy more spotting really. Am guessing I need to go to GP but am thinking this might just be a last hooray so to speak. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Three weeks ago, to my great surprise, I started to bleed after one year. The 2-3 weeks preceding this, my breasts were so sore, I was bloated and I has the typical "stringy" discharge that I used to get before my period. I was really not expecting another period but the bleeding was heavy and lasted for just over a week.
I saw my doctor a few days ago and she that she is obliged to send me for an ultrasound and possible biopsy if the lining looks thick. She said she is not worried but I am freaking out.
Can anyone share a similar experience? I read on one website that it is actually possible to ovulate and have a period after you stop menstruating for a year. I have not had any spotting - just this one "period". Of course, everything I have read says how abnormal it is to bleed after menopause and now I'm scared that there is something serious going on. My ultrasound is booked for two days from now.

Is this possible? My period just started today. It's been an awful day (month, really) with horrible indigestion, horrible cramps, and for the past hour or so I feel an intense heat rising in my face and spreading through my neck and chest, then it goes away. I've been wondering if I'm getting hot flashes because this is fairly new. But also, can they happen now...while I start my period?

I'm in the menopausal stage of my life and it sucks. Suppose I just want to know i'm not crazy by hearing from others in the same boat.
I just can't believe how much i've changed in such a short period of time. I use to be so social and always having visitors. Now I never want to go out, just getting to work is a mission. My friends rarely visit as I just don't encourage it anymore. They all think Its because I have a new man in my life but it's not even that as I just need to be on my own a lot of the time. Lucky for me my new man is so understanding and gives me the space I need. How long is this going to go on for. Would really like to be me again and will I turn back into the old me or is this it. Omg Im starting to realise why its called "The change of Life".

After 5 weeks of waiting, i finally received a letter in the post yesterday fromt he Hospital regarding my MRI scan. It states in the letter that everything was normal APART from "a incidental 14mm calcified, extra axial lesion in the left frontal region, probably menigioma". It goes on to say "no further action will be required but a copy of the letter will go to visiting neurosurgeon for further clarification in this regard".
i've just googled menigioma and it comes up with brain tumor - should i be worried about this do you think? :-( i honestly didn't expect the letter to say this as i have waited over 5 weeks for these results. Can anyone advise? thanks

i've had AF for 4 years now but a recent X-ray showed lung congestion which they think is being caused by the heart. I also get excessive facial sweating - does anyone else suffer these symptoms. Also I am breathless going uphills and stairs which is a new development although I can walk miles on the flat.
When is AF just AF & not a heart attack?

My problem started about 6 years ago. I don't remember triggering it, but my nose got fully blocked, I couldn't breath through my nose at all. I went to see an ENT specialist, done the allergy test. He said that I was allergic to dust mites, and that I needed a surgery to trim my middle turbinates so the nasal spray could get through.
After the surgery my nose was fine for fine, but it was very short lived. After a few weeks it was just as bad as before.
I tried different nasal steroid sprays, antihistamines, saline, capsaicin prays, acupuncture, and noting, not the slightest improvement.
My ENT said that the hot humid weather was the problem and if I moved to a cooler climate it would get better. So I did, and indeed it got better. I no longer live there, moved about a year ago, but still having nasal congestions. At night times one side is always congested, during the day it's better, but sometimes it can get really bad, no idea from what. Maybe the change in the weather, pressure.
I also noticed, that if I bend forward my nose immediately starts to get blocked.
I also read that it could be a nerve damage in the nose, and that the blood vessels lose the ability to constrict.
I think doctors looking that problem from the wrong way. Trying to reduce the inflammation in the nose without knowing what causing it. It's like if you had a swollen gum from a bad tooth, and they would only treat the inflammation. There wouldn't be any point to do that without treating the tooth itself, which causing the problem at the first place right?
So I assume that's the case with this awful sinus congestion, cause unknown therefore most treatments fail.
I'm very suspicious from ENTs, I heard many horror stories where surgery not only didn't help but made things much worse!
I'm wondering if anyone had or having similar problems and how you managing it.

I started Yasmin a year ago (21 active pills and a week break. Always start the pack on a Sunday) to help with my PMS symptoms. I've been quite happy with them with the only exception that my period always starts about a week before my last active pill (I don't stop taking them when this happens, just take them as usual until the 21 days are over). My doctor said this can happen and that it's nothing to worry about.
Now I am going to visit my boyfriend from the 17th to the 25th september and would hate to be on my period then . I got my period today and i still have 7 pills left, so again, it's a week early. Looking at the calendar if my next cycle goes like this i'd start my period in the midst of my visit. If i wanted to postpone/skip my next period should i continue taking my next 21 pills without a break after i finish this pack? And then a third pack after which i'd have a weeks break? Or could this cause my period to come even earlier because my body is not used to this?

My periods are usually regular - 28 days but there are a couple times in a year where I get my period on the 21st day/a few days before or after the 28th. I last got my period on November 2 and it lasted for a week. On November 11, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and he ejaculated inside of me. I took the Nordette ECP (4 pills at first and then 4 pills 12 hours later) about 5 - 10 minutes after. On the 16th, I started my withdrawal bleeding. I usually get withdrawal bleeding, but this time it was a lot heavier. The first 2 - 3 days, I had to wear a pad and every time I coughed I felt blood coming out. It lasted like a period and eventually died down. It weirded me out a little because my withdrawal bleedings were usually quite light - light enough for me to wear only a pantyliner.
Last week, I got my usual PMS symptoms (slight sore breasts, a bit of cramping, and acne breakout). It has been 36 days and my breasts are back to normal, my cramping is very mild, but my acne breakout is CRAZY. Usually I only get maybe a pimple or two on my forehead but I have them on my forehead, cheeks, and chin! I've had no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever and no implantation bleeding as well. However, a few days ago my boyfriend and I had sex and my vaginal discharge was brown. I'm quite positive it can't be implantation bleeding because if it were, I should have bled a week before that.
Every time I've taken the ECP, my period is always on time. It's never been this late. I'm getting very anxious even if I have no pregnancy symptoms. My acne breakouts are usually my #1 indicator that I'm about to get on my period but it's been 8 days and still no luck! I've read around that some women really do miss a period and some can come as late as 70+ days. There's a high chance I'm not pregnant since I took the ECP in the window time and I wasn't ovulating that day, but any advice would do me well!

I had surgery on the 21st August to remove 3 fibroids in my womb. The surgeon entered through the vagina and burnt them out so I was told?
I started my last period on the 20th August which was late as the first day of my last period prior to this was the 11th July. My period usually lasts around 5/6 days. I used to regularly have a period every 28 days but following a miscarriage at 3 months in December 2011 and a miscarriage in July 2010 at 7 weeks my periods have been a little irregular. This year I had a cycle of 32 days in Feb, 28 days March, 31 days April, 28 days May, 33 days June, and 40 days in July?
On the 21st August I informed the doctor that my period had started the night before. They said dont worry we will be able to wash out the period to do the surgery. I should have been out of hospital same day but I felt really rough, and after 2 days they sent me home. The following day I was taken back in as I felt soooo ill, with lack of energy, temperature, high & low blood pressure and shallow breath. After a further 3 days in hospital they found protein in my urine and told me I had a urinary tract infection and gave me a course of antibiotics. Today is the 29th September and I still haven't had a period. Is this normal?
I am 39 and would like to try for a baby again next year. I am concerned something has gone wrong. I even thought I could be pregnant due to the late period last month. Plus, I currently have tender heavy breasts, and I feel nausea every morning, and my stomach feels bloated. It was very unlikely I would be pregnant though, as my period started last month on the 20th? I did a pregnancy test anyway and it was negative. I am still waiting for my period
Any clues as to what could be going on? Post surgery, I had a light bead for around 2 weeks, and the bleeding stopped on 10th September, im not sure if this was a period or post surgery bleeding as my periods were soooo heavy prior to surgery I am due to have a follow-up appointment on 21st November 2012.

I've been on Junel birth control for a few years, I originally went on the pill at 14 due to heavy prolonged periods. My pap was normal last year. I've started dieting last week and lost 5 pounds so far, however, I skipped a pill, and now I'm cramping and bleeding heavily. It's still a week before my scheduled period with the pill, and I've been bleeding 5 days. It's still kinda heavy. It's South beach diet I'm on and I'm 22 by the way.

I had unprotected sex almost everyday starting about a week or 2 before I was to get my period. After I got my period ive had sex almost everyday but just started taking birth control today. Last night I noticed that I had a brownish period that wasn't normal to a regular period. I have normal periods. But its very very light and it is darker in color. I just ended me period between a week and a week and a half ago. I can't get in to see my gyno for another month. Could I be pregnant? Or what could it possibly be? I'm 20.

So here is the story, I had sex a week before my period suppose to start. But before I had sex, I've been having lots of stress and been skipping meals sometimes not eating much in a day. So I decided to have sex to relieve the stress, and on the day I had sex, I had finally gotten a good healthy meal.
During sex, I had it a couple of times, twice with condom and thrice without but he pulled out before he ejected.
After a week, or actually a few days. I started feeling giddy. And started to eat a lot and get really hungry often. I'm having body aches and feeling tired.
Sometimes I get cramps coming and going.. Recently it was more cramp than the first few ones I had.
After a meal I feel slightly nauseous.

I take the 21 pill pack of tri cyclen lo and am usually good with taking the pills on time. Last month I skipped my period by going straight into the next pack. I then stopped after the first week of the next pack so that my period could come then. (AKA I used birth control to delay my period by a week). Then I resumed with the second week of the pack after 7 days.
I was sexually active without protection during that second week that I resumed my pills and I am now afraid that I made a big mistake and could be pregnant.
Has anyone done this? Is it really bad?

Me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex around July 25th, 2013 and i went to planned parenthood two days later and took plan b. I got my period about a week late in the beginning of August when I usually get it around the 28th, then in September I got it around the 14th, and I haven't gotten my period yet, could it just be late, or could there be a chance I'm pregnant. I really need some help because I'm freaking out here. And I knew I got my period because it was heavy like it usually is and I had severe cramps too, so is it normal to miss my period after taking it? Or is my period going to be late?
