Menopause :: Internal Tremors, Shaking, Jitters

Apr 2, 2016

The only way to get through this "transition" in the best possible way is to stay informed as to what is going on with our bodies. Being as though every woman is different, what may work for one may not work for the other. But knowledge is key to being able to live our lives the best and healthiest way possible.

With that being said, I came across some information on the internal shaking and jitters. Now this info may not apply to you, but if if does, by all means take it and do more research on your own to help yourself. Some of the first symptoms that I experienced that started to really ramp up anxiety for me is the racing heart and the internal shaking. I felt the the shaking in my chest and stomach mainly, but I could feel it all over. At times I would get the racing heart with it.

The shakiness and jitters first. We already know that the decline in estradiol can affect blood sugars, and digestive issues. For some the shakiness and jitters can be due to the blood sugars and dietary changes can help to stable that during peri/meno if you are not a true diabetic. It can also be due to anxiety and adrenaline surges. The other possibility can be digestive related. Since the digestive system is affected by declining hormones we digest food slower and have more gas than we usually do as well as an excess of stomach acid. I since have been diagnosed with GERD as many women do in peri/meno and I do have excessive gas and stomach acid which causes that burning feeling. For me what has been causing that internal shaky feeling in my chest and stomach is stomach acid putting pressure behind the breast bone which irritates the vagus nerve that can cause the anxiety type symptoms. If I chew a tums or take an acid reflux tablet the internal shakiness and jitters stop. Drinking chamomile tea, ginger capsules or tea, tums, rolaids, omeprazole, zantac, cal/mags or whatever you choose to use calms the stomach acid, calms the vagus nerve and neutralizes excess gas. Also when the vagus nerve is irritated it can cause heart palps and that is why when your reflux is acting up the excess acid pushing the vagus nerve can start palps. Now again this may not be the case for all, but it may be for some. So I thought that I would share the info just in case it may help you.

Menopause :: Vitamin B Complex / 5 Htp? Panic Attacks, Shaking, Sweating, Hot Flashes

Need help as I've been suffering terribly with menopause, severe panic attacks, shaking, sweating, hot flushes, legs like jelly!

I had severe chest pain, it woke up from sleep at 4am Easter Sunday. Ambulance came and took to A/E. Hospital said ECG fine but it was a heart spasm probably caused by panic attack in sleep, can that happen?

I shake at any sudden sound? Get that nervous pit feeling in your stomach, goes right through me! Even watching tv any sudden movements make me jump. My question is would vitamin b complex help plus 5 htp at night to help with sleep? I'm in the menopause also, have hot flushes during day and night. Have used menopace but not working now.

Any advice would help as I feel so not myself, low energy, nervy all the time even my speech sounds jittery !!

Anxiety :: Only Inderal? Terrible Tremors

I noticed tremors on my body since I was 12. But it was mild tremors that I didn't care about. But since November 2014 my tremors got worse and now I have tremors all over my body. For example, when I try to do abs my trunk starts to tremble, when I lift my legs against the gravity, they start to tremble a lot, when I try to smile my face trembles, when I'm with my friends and try to drink some tea from a tea cup my hand and my head starts to tremble, and I feel that my neck and my head will start to tremble if I move in a "No" movement, and sometimes when I am in a place with lots of people my legs starts to shake and I get very embarrassed about that and they start to shake even more. So I went to a neurologist and I showed to him the positions that I tremble and my situation, and he said that some people has more physiologic tremor than others (even though I think that I have essential tremor), and he had to give me something for the anxiety, but I tremble a lot, and when I'm cold my body trembles a lot (a lot more than normal people). He gave me Inderal 10 mg to take 3 times a day . But it's not working on controlling my anxiety. I also tried to take 20mg and it didn't work as well and I'm not having side effects too. But the problem is I get anxious because of my tremors and not the opposite . If I had no tremors, I wouldn't have a reason to be anxious.  I already went to the only 2 neurologists that I have on my city and only the second one gave me some medication. I really want this tremors to stop. I know he gave me that dosage because the anxiety makes the tremors worse but not even for the anxiety it's working. And I'm going to work out of my country with people that I don't talk and I will get very embarrassed with this tremors... So what should I do?

I have only been on Gabapentin for 6 wks. 100 mg. 1 x day.  Do I need to taper off.  From what I read, I don't want to continue or increase it.  I have essential tremors and they have been a lot worse.  Also, I have extreme fatigue.

Cymbalta (Duloxetine) :: Severe Hand Tremors

Has anyone had this happen?  I had gone up from the 20mg dose to the 40mg dose and was doing better.  Less depression and the goal was to ease my fibro pain (I currently take Gabapentin and Tramadol) and eventually stop taking Tramadol.  I suddenly started shaking.  I had muscle jumps (can't think of another way to describe it) in my  legs and I literally shook so bad I couldn't turn pages on my Kindle without trying a few times.  It was disturbing.

The doctor called me back said to go back to the 20mb dose.  I continued to shake...but it lessened.  I am now going off it by taking it every other day (20mb) and can't get the Dr. to return my call.

I have tried all the Fibro drugs.  Lyrica didn't work.  Savella caused bad rapid h/b.  Effexor caused muscle jumps in my legs too (but not hand shaking).

If I continued to take it would the hand tremors go away?  No one can answer that.  Pain is worse since I have eased off so it was actually working.  I want to continue if it will lesson, but I don't know if it will.

Parkinson :: Bad Tremors - Sodium Valproate / Lovan?

I suffered severe depression and anxiety and began to get bad tremors around 6 months ago, this was a first for me. My psychiatrist and GP thought it was because I was taking Sodium Valproate which is a mood stabiliser, however I have now come off that (still taking antidepressants, 80mg Lovan daily) but I still have the tremors.

My GP suggested Parkinson's but that I shouldn't have the brain scan now because medicare are not covering them.

Could anyone give me their thoughts on what I should look for in Parkinson's other than the tremors?

Movement Disorders :: Tremors/involuntary Slow Finger And Hand Movements At Rest

I'm seeing a neurologist next week because of the above symptoms.   I'm a 68 year old woman and my GP said it's the way my body is aging!  I'm not so much worried (about for example Parkinson's) as intrigued.  I know lots of people suffer hand and finger tremors but I am a bit unnerved by my hands and fingers moving very, very slowly on their own.  As I stop typing for a moment my right little finger has raised itself from the keyboard as if it were being pulled but very very slowly.  My whole hand will slowly curl and even my arms will move on their own if I am "at rest".   It's probably something with no explanation but I wonder if anybody else who has been diagnosed with a neurological/muscular  condition has experienced this symptom.  I do feel as if I am trembling right through my body and my feet will also move independently if I keep still long enough. I don't seem to have any other Parkinson's symptoms.

Trimethoprim :: Vomiting And Shaking Within 10 Minutes

My wife had a bladder infection (the second within a month) and was prescribed a 7 day course of trimethoprim. On the 7th day (having taken the last tablet) she began vomiting and shaking - within 10 minutes of this starting she become disorientated and lost her memory. She was immediately hospitalised and given a MRI scan of her brain plus various blood and urine tests but all tests proved negative. For 24 hours she suffered from extreme short term memory lose. She could not remember events that had happened just 10 seconds before hand. Very scary. I have found this web site on the second day and am relieved to see she is not alone and that the events she is experiencing are probably related to trimethoprim. 36 hours later she is still bed bound (now back at home) and has a bad headache and hot/cold sweats, neck pain and diarrhoea. Sleep seems to be the best aid but she is finding it difficult to sleep as her brain is a hive of activity trying to reconstruct the lost bits. The only drug she is now willing to take is paracetamol which helps a little. Thankfully her short term memory is now working again. How this drug has obtained a licence is a question that needs to be asked

My Son Had A Seizure This Morning - Shaking, Clenched Fists

My son 16 years 10 months of age had a seizure this morning while partying post school exams with his friends wherein they had food from KFC, played XBox games, watched a movie and gossipped till 330 a.m. The seizure happened soon after he was woken up at 8.30 a.m. to be taken home from his friend's place. His whole body was shaking, fists were clenched and he was drooling. It lasted for close to 45 seconds after which he slept for 10 minutes; then woke up and could talk normally. He of course doesn't remember anything happening to him.

Previously he had febrile seizure at age 4 for which he was treated & had never had an episode since then. Then, he was on a dose of Valparin which was stopped at Age 6 after two incident free years.

This incident has left me worried & tense. I would like to know from you how serious this might be and what are the next steps.

Alcohol And Shaking (tremor) - Functioning Alcoholic

I am a mature adult female, I drink heavily. I'm a functioning alcoholic. I do not drink before work or when I have an appointment. But after I'm done for the day I often drink to the point where I cannot remember the next day. I have developed a tremor, that's an easy way of saying it, I shake during the day. Even after I've had nothing to drink for 4 or 5 days it persists. This is something that I noticed with my mother, who was also a functioning alcoholic later on in her life. I noticed it later on in her life. I'd like to know, is this a given for alcoholics or should I be looking for a deeper meaning?

Banding For My Internal Hemorrhoids Worked

I've had my hemorrhoids for several years. It started out as a bit of blood on toilet paper after going to the bathroom. I did see a doctor about it and it was suggested it could be a hemorrhoid and was given suppositories and it was suggested I schedule a colonoscopy. I was 28 at the time. I tried the suppositories and they seemed to work so I didn't go through with the colonoscopy, which was probably not smart on my part.

The bleeding stopped for awhile but would come back. Over the next few years the hemorrhoid became large enough that it would stick out when I went to the bathroom and I'd have to push it back in. I finally worked up the nerve to have it checked and found a doctor I felt good about.

I went in this morning to a colorectal surgeon. He and his nurse were very nice. We talked for a few minutes, and then he had me get on the table for an exam. He used a small scope to look inside and said I had several hemorrhoids and that for the kind I had, banding was the recommended treatment. He said he could do it right now and that most people say it feels like a dull toothache for a day or two after the procedure.

The doctor banded the two largest hemorrhoids. The whole process took less than 30 seconds. The procedure was painless. About a minute after, I started to feel some discomfort like I really had to go to the bathroom. That sensation lasted for about 30 minutes. Then it became a dull pain. It's now 10 hours later and the dull pain remains. But, it's nothing unbearable. I was able to go about my normal activities (I was sure to have the doctor be clear on this) and I have been fine. Sitting in a car is most discomforting. Standing or laying down is best. I did sit in a hot bath and that has helped the discomfort quite a bit.

My doctor said the discomfort should go away in a day or two and the band should take about 5 days or so to fall off. I have a follow-up appointment in three weeks to probably band more hemorrhoids. I really thought I only had one big hemorrhoid but it turns out I have several. At least I know and feel much better about getting them taken care of.

All in all, I'm glad I finally had this done. The discomfort isn't a big deal and totally worth not having to worry about it and dealing with it when I go to the bathroom. I was able to take a nap this afternoon despite the discomfort.

I plan to update this over the next week, and maybe through my next appointment. I'm anxious to see how I feel in the morning!

Internal Hemorrhoids :: Doctor Cannot Feel?

My sister is 60 years old and is experiencing amounts of blood in her stool lately . She suspects that it is internal hemorrhoids (she had similar condition approx. 3 years ago.) She went to the doctor who examined her and told her that she could not feel any internal hemorrhoids but gave her suppositories and told her to return in two weeks time for another look. My sister has no other symptoms, no pain except for some itching after she goes to poop and no changes in bowel habits, appetite etc. My question is therefore, is it possible for someone to have internal hemorrhoids that a doctor cannot feel?

Only Fresh Blood - Internal Hemorrhoids ?

So - been to the GP today as had fresh blood from backside now for about 3 days with no pain.

She had a good feel around (much to my dismay!) she said no fissures but that I could 'possibly' have an internal hemorrhoid as she felt something 'squishy' but to be honest... She didn't sound very confident!

She's given me some hydrocortisone suppositories (lovely) and said she hopes the problem will disappear as quickly as it came about.

Other than the fresh blood I have no problems whatsoever and no other symptoms.

Also, she mentioned a camera up the bum if it doesn't resolve or gets worse. Help me god!!!
