Lymphoma :: Inguinal Lymph Node That Is Enlarged
Aug 24, 2013
I have an inguinal lymph node that is enlarged. 2cm long verified by ultrasound. It has been like this for 7 weeks now. Pain started in June with testicle pain. Doctor diagnosed epididymitis. All testing came back negative. Eventually testicle pain went away but turned into groin pain in mid July. This prompted ultrasound that found enlarged lymph node in groin. The doctors deemed the lymph node as questionable. My doctor said it is nothing to worry about. My concern is that it is causing minor discomfort since mid July in the node itself as well as my upper right thigh, my right hip, and also in the area on my right side between hip and ribs. My doctor says the node is not an issue and I may have an inguinal hernia that is pressing on my femoral nerve causing referred pain. I think my lymph node hurts and whatever is causing it seems to be spreading. My doctor is not worried at all. I'm freaked out. I have no night sweats but I'm so scared that I barely eat or sleep. I lost 10 pounds my doctor said from stress. I gained it all back afterwards. Does this sound like lymphoma? My doctor thinks I'm paranoid and tells me not to worry. I am freaked out because it feels like no one cares or believes I'm in pain.

Husband having trouble breathing, especially when lying down, lots of gagging, and trouble swallowing. Been to the doctor several times. Elevated white count, enlarged lymph node in neck, one with black spot. Still 3 weeks until we see the ENT specialist. What can I do to help him while we wait 3 weeks to see a specialist?

It has been swollen for over a month, no pain, about the size of a pea. I am 22. Should I be worried?

I am 20 years old and I am worried about a swollen lymph node behind my ear. It has been there for 3 years and it fluctuates in size. It is hard, immovable, and painless. Currently it is over 1 cm, it is about 2 cm large. I have not had it checked out by my doctor. Is there a chance this is cancerous?

I have a swollen lymph node just below the thyroid cartilage. It's been there for months. It doesn't change in shape or size (I think) and it doesn't hurt. I know it's a lymph node because I had an ultrasound for the six-moth thyroid check-up (I have Hashimoto's) and the doctor told me that's what it is. He was very hesitant when he told me I shouldn't worry about for now it and that got me thinking. Could it be something alarming?

I found a lump behind my ear and it moved to the base of my skull. I was told it was a swollen lymph node. Do lymph nodes move? What would be the cause? I haven't been sick, so I am curious.

My name is Kevin I have movable lump under/around my left collarbone. It seems to have become slightly larger over past three years, feels smooth and round but is firm (cant be squished too easily). It sits almost behind collarbone but just on the underside of it. It can be moved on top of collarbone and also from side to side a bit. Not sure size (possibly 2 cm). I am concerned that it is lymph node and possibly lymphoma or liposarcoma. I have no other symptoms. Male age 38 non smoker.
Anyone with a similar experience would be a huge help to share their story. Thanks in advance

I have always suffered from health anxiety and about a month ago, I grew a small lump on the left side of my neck. I was told that it was a lymph node, but it seems odd as it hasn't disappeared for a month now.
It is sometimes sore, but generally there is no pain and no fatigue, and I am generally healthy. Currently, a pimple is growing right on the lump as well, so I am wondering if that has to do with anything.
I do have acne so bacteria there is a possibility, plus allergies have been bad this year.
I had it checked and was told by a doctor not to worry and it was harmless. However, I am still worried. Could this develop into something if it doesn't go down, and why has it stayed there for so long?

I've had a swollen lymph node under my jaw on the left side of my neck for over a month now. It's very hard and it hurts. I was tested for mononucleosis and it came out positive, but I have had none of the symptoms except for fatigue and the lymph node. Today, I found a very small but also hard bump on the back of my neck, very close to the left side. I was reading online that this could be related to the fact that I have a swollen lymph node. I was also told by my doctor that my spleen has gotten very large. I know all this is because I have mononucleosis, but is there any way I could be having something worse? I'm a teen female if that helps with any answers. Also, the lymph node is not getting any smaller and I've taken three different antibiotics given to me by my doctor. Also, I have had a cold and pneumonia since i got the swollen node.

I'm 36 year old female, have had headaches x6 months along with an enlarged lymph node at base of skull just above hairline (occipital I think it's called). MRI was normal, ultrasound revealed enlarged lymph node, neurologist wanted to treat as headaches and sent me to ENT to evaluate enlarged lymph node, routine blood work just revealed low b12 (taking supplements now). Vision is good, already had eye exam. Usually over the counter meds treat any pain I have and they haven't relieved headaches at all, neurologist tried migraine meds which haven't helped either. ENT Dr. seems to think the headaches are causing the enlarged lymph node and wants to treat headaches to see if lymph node goes down any, but I can't help but think the node is causing the headaches because when I press on node it makes headache worse. (I know THEIR the Dr. and spent years on schooling, etc and specialize in this stuff but doesn't make since to me) The node itself isn't sore to touch, just worsens headache. So far the new meds from ENT isn't helping either, and am told my node is just about nickel size and they don't biopsy it until half dollar size. I'm tired of going from dr to dr when I have to work and my insurance is about to end, I just want answers, so any help is greatly appreciated to steer me in the right direction.

Back in Jan. I had a lymph node in my groin (only one side) that felt hard like a pea and was tender when I pressed on it. It lasted about 4-5 days total with no other symptoms (no flu like symptoms, no lesions, etc). This occurred about 10 days post contact. Since my previous negative tests for HSV 1 and 2 I've only had unprotected contact with someone who told me he has never been tested for HSV but has never had symptoms (he's 24). I believe him completely on this. The unprotected contact was maybe 5 minutes or so for two different occasions in total where I believe I was on him without either of us having underwear on. I only did this at all because I had been drinking. Should I be worried about the lymph node? Should I get another IGG at 3 months (so next Tuesday) and would it be accurate? I don't have HSV 1 (at least according to my test).

I am a 29 year old female. Around 19 years ago, I had slipped capital femoral. Around 6 months ago, the same pain started to occur. I went for a dye injected MRI and the results were inconclusive due to the pins interfering with the magnets. The pain has gone away for the most part with a few outbreaks but about two weeks after the injection, I found a pea-sized hard movable lump in my groin, painless unless manipulated a lot . I spoke to my general practitioner about it going on 6 months ago, and he said keep an eye on it but confirmed it was a swollen lymph node. I am scared to go back but the lump has stayed consistent, possibly enlarged. Should I be worried? I have had insomnia and I have narcolepsy, so it's very rare for me. I am always tired, but again have narcolepsy and hypothyroidism .

For the past week, I've had a headache. It started out with being one of the worst headaches ever. I've been dizzy and lightheaded with ears ringing for the past week and a constant headache that varies in pain. Yesterday, I found my occipital node is swollen and if I push anywhere on it or on the left side of my head, I feel pressure and it hurts in my face all through the left side of my face and in my eye. I've been having awful muscle spasms in my neck and body, and now there is a constant dull pain still in the left side of my head that will not go away. I hear cracking and popping in my head often since it started too. Please help! This is killing me. What could it be? The headaches get to almost unbearable and sometimes it's just a dull agitation.

I have a swollen lymph node on the right side of my jaw for about 10 months. I finally decided to have it checked out and it was confirmed by a recent ultrasound. Ive no health issues to report other than tmj which I've had for many, many years. No gum, teeth, throat or ear issues. My understanding is this is normally caused by an injury or infection. I do not the remember the last time I was sick or injured as I've been fortunate to enjoy good health the last few years. I'm scheduled for another ultrasound in 6 weeks. Wondering what is causing this and what else I can do?

I'm 28, female & I recently checked my lymph nodes after a friend was diagnosed with cancer. I found a lymph node in my neck on the right about 1/2 an inch down. It was noticeably bigger than on the one on the left (I can only just find the one on the left) so I went to see my doctor & he said it was an infection & gave me antibiotics (Flucloxacillin). I told him I'm allergic to amoxicillin but I have since learnt that this is almost the same. He asked me to do a blood test which I did the next day.
I started taking the antibiotics & it made the node worse, it got even bigger. My mouth started itching & my tongue & throat swelled up. I decided it was an allergic reaction & stopped taking the antibiotics & went to A&E. I was now very tired and my body was aching where my lymph nodes are (groin & particularly under my arms) and my neck, back of head & upper back hurt. Dr at A&E said it was glandular fever but when I went back to my usual doctor the next day he said the blood test had come back clear. He said it was just a general viral infection. I don't believe him because I haven't got any symptoms like fever or cough or cold, it's just aching & tiredness.
I'm really worried now because the node has been swollen for 3 weeks in total & I am aching, particularly in my back and my neck always feels stiff & the node hurts off & on throughout the day. I don't know what to do, I feel like I'm just annoying everyone with it & don't feel like I can go back to the doctor again with this same problem. I touch the node every day, could this be why it's big? I touch the one on the left though too & that hasn't grown. There is just the one swollen node.

I had a panic attack last night because I think there's a lymph node swollen behind my ear, like right under it tucked behind my jaw. I'm freaking out. I keep checking it and it's still there. And last night when I felt it, I had this feeling that this was it, this is the one time I'm gonna have cancer. And then I just freaked out. I just had a blood test done three weeks ago and everything is normal but people online are saying that blood tests don't always detect lymphoma or other cancers so what's the point? Will we ever find relief? I don't know what to do. The bump is the size of a pea or smaller.

I recently had a lymph node on the left side of my neck that lasted three months and is now going away. However, the entire side of my neck now feels hard as a rock. Why would that happen?

I had my lymph node on the right side of my neck swell up about a 2 weeks ago. It hasn't gone down at all and I have gone to the doctor. I had a negative strep test and I am going for a blood test soon. My hearing seems to be dulled as if I am flying to a place with high altitude, I have a really bad sore throat but not white spots or anything on the back of my throat, I have occasional mild headaches, fatigue, and a little bit of loss of appetite. I have tried antibiotics but they didn't work so obviously it is a virus. I am so confused with what i have to do but i hope it is not cancer..... I am only 15 and I am female.

I had a sudden swollen lymph node under my right side of my neck near my adam's apple. you can see its swollen to look at and is about the size of a cream egg it gets really painful sometimes when i eat especially crisps and things what make my tastebuds go, i have been on antibiotics for 3 days now but it only seems to feels painless when im sleeping but as soon as i eat swallow talk throughout the day it becomes more painful, i do feel run down some days and iv'e been taking co codamol for the pain as antibiotics don't take away the pain, iv'e just started to have cramps in my stomach this morning and diarrhea which maybe because of the tablets iv'e been taking. but im worried that the lymph node is never going to go down as it feels constant in my neck and i get the odd twinge around the area in pain and am just worried, could anyone give me an insight of when i should see my gp again if this doesn't die down in the coming days please?

So been trying push on from my health anxiety, thought i was getting somewhere until last night.. I was laid in bed last night and where my leg joins my hip was very tender, further investigation i could feel a lymph node (well I presume its a lymph node)
This was at like 11 o'clock last night, obviously started googling, diagnosed myself with cancer and got about 3 hours sleep. Not the first time I've noticed a lymph node and gone to the doctor's, happened twice before, one in my neck and one my groin a couple of years ago but they wasn't tender to touch.
Google was spurting all stuff out, it said to look for cuts on your legs etc if the lymph node is in your groin, I got bitten or cut myself on my left knee (the lymph nodes on the leg hand side) but that's a full thigh length away from the groin node! surely that can't be the reason for the lymph node been tender/swollen. It says to wait for 2-3 weeks to see what happens but health anxiety doesn't allow patience when it comes to stuff like this.
