Lactulose Reaction? Growling, Grumbling, Rumbling, And More Flatulence

Right, background info - a month ago I was prescribed proton pump inhibitors to reduce acid production to allow a small esophageal ulcer to heal. I have been experiencing quite bad constipation while on the PPIs, and so went to see the pharmacist to see if there was anything I could take, and explained to her the medication I was on, and she recommended lactulose as it's more gentle than things like senna.
That was a few weeks ago - I haven't felt the need to take it until today when I had a bowel movement, then a couple of hours felt like I need another and couldn't go, but yet felt the pressure downstairs like I really needed to go. So I took 15ml lactulose - the lowest suggested starting dose for adults. Very quickly, I felt sick ad started to experience flatulence. A couple of hours after taking the dose, I experienced severe diarrhoea with abdominal pain. I was sat on the loo for about ten minutes I'd say, and it was very watery.
Since then, my gut has been *very* noisy with growling, grumbling, rumbling, and more flatulence.
Any advice? I'm reluctant to take it again tomorrow incase it does the same - I need to go out and about, and had I done so today, I would have pooed myself, quite literally, because it came on so suddenly.
Obviously if it continues I will go back to the chemists on Monday.

My problem started in 8th grade. During 4th period after lunch, my butt would start making noises. It would feel as if I had to fart or something. I don't even know how to explain it. Of course I couldn't try to fart because it was always quiet in that class. The noises came from my butt area and sounded like my butt was whining or something. I don't really remember having a stomach problem or anything near what I dealt with freshman year but that's when it all started.
Summer passed and I started high school. During first two weeks, the noises started happening. It would happen in mostly second hour and sometimes in other classes too. It felt as if I was about to fart or something and then my bum would make a loud whining sound. Like I said, I can't really explain it but it was EXTREMELY embarrassing. I would always text my dad and BEG him to come get me. Nothing I did would stop it from happening. I thought it would go away and that it was just stress because I started high school but I was wrong. It started getting worse and worse.
I thought that this wouldn't happen if I didn't eat breakfast and that it was just gas. I tried that and every period until lunchtime, I would have REALLY bad hunger pains and it felt as if I haven't eaten in a week even though I only skipped breakfast. The stomach growling and butt noises happened regardless if I ate or not. It got so bad to the point where I started missing so much school. I dreaded going to class every morning and would always fake sick and always make my parents come get me from school. I even skipped classes and hid in the bathroom because of this problem and I would cry my eyes out because I couldn't go to school and be happy like everyone else did.
By the time the year was half way over, it had gotten to the point where I had no hope. I started dealing with a bad stomach growling problem along with the butt noises. No matter how much I would eat, or what it was that I ate, by the time second period came my stomach would be growling nonstop and very loudly. I had stomach cramps and hunger pains also. It was no matter what I ate. If I ate, then I would have to deal with the butt noises and if I didn't eat, I would have to deal with the stomach growling. I couldn't escape the problem no matter what I did. EVERY SINGLE DAY, all I would think about in all my classes is my stomach. If it was going to growl, if my butt noises would happen, etc. It ruined my life. My grades were terrible because I couldn't pay attention to the class. Usually I would get a feeling in my stomach before it would growl so I would know when it would. Please do not tell me that 'everyone's stomach growls' because it was not normal growls. It was SO loud and would happen no matter if I ate or not. Most of my classes were quiet and when it was quiet in class, no one else's stomach was growling as much as mine and no one else's butt was making farting and whining noises. Someone else's stomach would growl every once in awhile but it was very quiet and it only did once or twice. But it was different for me. It would happen ALL CLASS and in EVERY CLASS until lunch time.
After lunch time, my 6th hour wasn't very quiet so I didn't really have a problem in there. The butt noises still happened no matter what. In 7th hour, my seat was in the front of the class and EVERY DAY my stomach would growl really loudly and everyone would look at me weirdly. The class was ALWAYS quiet. I was always looking for reasons to leave and every time she said to work independently I would start to panic and would literally start to cry in the middle of class because I knew the noises would happen. I would stare at the clock the entire class period and all you could hear was my stomach and butt growls. Everyone in that class thought I was the "freak with the growling stomach and farting problem". It was so quiet you could hear a piece of lead hit the ground. It was horrifying.
I constantly had bowel urges and when I went to the bathroom I didn't pass anything out. Sometimes when I did (very rarely) I would feel a little better but the stomach growling and hunger pains would still continue. Before my stomach growls, I would get this feeling in my throat that felt as if I had to burp or there was something stuck in it and It was actually hard for me to breathe.
I was embarrassed to talk to anyone about my problem but I knew I had to because I couldn't deal with the embarrassment anymore. It wasn't only embarrassing but it was also really uncomfortable and distracted me. It's all I thought about. My body would make all kinds of noise and I began to have anxiety because of this. Every morning me and my parents would fight over if I had to go to school or not. I began going over the amount of absences allowed and would get letters sent to my house. My parents thought I was overreacting and that what I was going through wasn't serious enough to miss school. I would cry myself to sleep every night, when I got home I would break down, and I began having signs of depression. I used to play sports and go out and had lots of friends but ever since this problem started everything has changed. I have developed a phobia of quiet places. I know this sounds really dumb and unless you're me you won't understand. I was starting to become suicidal and it ruined my self esteem. I wish I could go to school with a smile on my face, I wish I could wake up every morning and say "I have a feeling today is going to be a good day" and not one day freshman year did I have a "good day". I wasn't bullied at all but I know people thought I was weird and gross because of it.
My dad finally made an appointment with a gastrologist. He had me do a couple stool tests and that didn't help. Everything came out as if nothing was wrong. He thought it was an physiological problem or that I had IBS. It was so frustrating because I knew neither of those were the case. I thought it might be a bacteria overgrowth thing but no one would listen to me or even consider it. I felt so alone and frustrated. I was taken out of school by my dad and did school at home for the last two months of school. I almost failed freshman year and only got four credits so now I'm going to be behind everyone with my credits. It literally felt as if I was the only one experiencing this. Every single day, I was always looking things up online. I've read countless amount of articles about different things it might be and read other people's experiences. Believe me when I say this, it basically ruined my life. I thought it would stop but it hasn't. Everyone keeps telling me that it's physiological and my dad got me a therapist. I tried explaining to him that it is NOT physiological because it would happen NO MATTER what situation I was in. I'm sitting in bed right now all relaxed and my stomach is growling and my butt is also growling. My butt not only makes fart noises and whining noises but it also growls a lot. I feel as if my intestine might be twisted or something but I honestly don't know. This has taken over my life and I'm TERRIFIED of school starting in the fall. All I can think about is if my classes are going to be quiet or loud.
While most teenagers are out having fun with their friends on a Friday night, I'm at home googling every possible thing looking for something that could help. It sucks because no one understands what I go through and how much it has impacted my life. Believe me when I say this, ITS ALL I THINK ABOUT! It happens no matter where I am or who I'm with. When the noises are happening I try to calm myself down but nothing helps no matter how relaxed I am. You have no idea how hard it is being told by numerous doctors that they don't know what's wrong with me. I get told that it's because of anxiety but ITS NOT! I have a bad anxiety problem BECAUSE of the NOISES! I have depression because of the NOISES!
I know what you're thinking. That I'm selfish and that I have no reason to complain because some people have way worse problems. You DON'T understand. All I want is to be happy again. All I want is to go to school and sit in a quiet classroom without my butt and stomach making loud noises all period. You have no idea how much I dread going back to school. My parents have no idea. No doctors have any idea. No one understands what I go through.
It's the middle of july and I've had this problem for over a year now. For the passed couple months, right after I eat I would have diarrhea no matter what it is. Sometimes I even get constipated and I can't pass anything out. My butt growls for about two hours and then the stomach growling starts immediately and I get really bad hunger pains. It never ends. I can't even smile anymore. I'm so alone and no one understands. No one.

For the last 2 weeks I have ben having some rather strange symptoms. I am a 32 year old male. No medical conditions. for the past 2 weeks, I have started feeling a strange sensation in my stomach area. It's not really painful (1/10), its more like an uncomfortable irritation (tenderness?). Almost like pins and needles, but not quite that (hard to describe this 'pain'). Its kind of like sharp pressure pain, and focuses on random, small areas of my abdomen. Sometimes i dont feel it all, other times, it just kind of comes up, then goes away. It started near my bellybutton and now i can feel it in a few places like: about 3 inches to the left and right of belly button, upper abdomen, sometimes bellow navel area. its really quite random, and sometimes I can also feel like almost an itchy/burning sensation, which I cant figure out if it is on the skin, or beneath it. But the uncomfortable irritation is definetly under the skin (maybe on the abdominal wall?). I have had an ultrasound done, but the wall shows no hernias or anything. I've also been having a change in bowel movements (used to go twice a day, lately just once, and less stools). I got an xray done about 10 days ago, and the only thing the doctor said was I have a lot of stool in my intestines and told me to take a laxative. It sort of helped with the constipation, but not much.
Today I went to the doctor because I woke up with intense cramps, likely due to the constipation. He gave me sodium phosphates cleanser and emptied out my system and got diarrhea for a few hours. Now, I am sitting here, and although the cramps stopped shortly after they came, the irritation/pain/tenderness is more than before. before i had to almost notice it, and now I can't miss it. Its still not really painful (like 1.5/10)...its just something that is there, and its annoying and has gotten me worried about what it could be. I noticed that when I bend over, I can feel it a little more, but at other times, it comes on when i am completely still. Also, my stomach has been growling for a few days quite a bit (even after eating). does anyone know what could be causing this strange problem? Could it be feces in my intestines, or could it be gas? Doctors are not sure, and want me to wait it out. So...in conclusion; random pains around my abdominal area, they are sharp and focused on one little area at a time, come at random times, but more often if I bend over or pick up a heavy object, and sometimes I feel an itchy/burning sensation on my stomach.

Is it normal to FART at the time of intercourse?

For the past couple of nights I've had quite bad indigestion and I just put that down to eating too much food cause it's Christmas. But I went to the toilet earlier and when I wiped my arse there was blood. I then went to go for a wee a bit later and I farted and blood came out. I'm only 17 and really worried. Please help

This is pretty self explanatory but I have IBS and occasionally I get more regular than normal flatulence that smells very similar to bile... I can't seem to find an answer on google. Has this happened to anyone?

For over two years she has been experiencing an excessive amount of flatulence. She works at a baking company and gets harassed because of her farting problems. She gets called stinky and other names pretty much by everyone at work on a daily basis and I feel completely depressed because I can't do anything to help her. I feel angry at these people because my mother doesn't even speak much English and I am disappointed that people would do this to my powerless mother. She is single and have been battling to work everyday to make money for us. I have tried taking her to family doctors but no one has found a cure to this type of disease yet, and we have been changing doctors. She refuses to eat anything now in fear that she's going to fart again at work. Please help me I am desperate, I fear that one day my mother will leave us to commit suicide because of the bullying she receives at work. It is sad to me because my mother is the greatest mother anyone could have. She doesn't want this and I want to help her stop the cruelty at work.
For further information about my mother, she is 47 years old. I took her to a Gastroenterologist before and I think he tried everything, but it never worked. The first doctor gave us all the gas medications to try out and none of them work. I also went as far as buying her flatulence underwear from UK and they were 100$ each from myshreddies.com. I brought her two of them for Christmas. It took them 3 months to deliver it, and they don't even work. We switched doctors several times in hopes of finding a miracle..... Please help my mother, she deserves this. She really is a great mother. If there are anyone out there that could give me some tips to help her with her farting problem I will be forever in your debt. You will save a life Because at this point my mother is so embarrassed that she would do anything at all in order to stop farting. Almost everyday she comes home crying to my grandma about work and we are powerless to help her. Once I heard her say "I'd rather die than keep farting like this and letting them make fun of me. Why don't I just die already?" in our foreign language. This hurt, and I went to my room to cry because of it. Please help her anyone. She wasn't like this 3 years ago, and she was actually a very happy person. I really want to see the happy mother I knew three years ago. I'd like to know what can I do to help her farting problems? I know that farting is something we cannot stop but she literally is a walking trumpet, and I know for sure this is not normal farting.

Am I the only person that can't fully break wind unless I'm sitting on a Toilet?
I'll get horrible Gut Cramps and feel like I've definitely got to fart and then even if I DO fart it's not enough and the pressure just keeps building till I sit on a Toilet and fart hard enough that it hurts. Sometimes I'll be in there for several minutes just farting and it feels like razors are slicing me open.
I know that I've got significant prolapsing Internal Hemorrhoids that I'm going to take care of in the near future. I'm wondering if they are large enough now that the only way anything can really leave my rectum is if they are already out. I know it's getting harder and harder to shove them back inside.
I'm also thinking that the razor pain could be from fissures but don't fissures bleed? All I ever do sometimes is spot on the Toilet Paper. Like there will be a few dabs of blood not like a streak or anything and none on the stool or in the toilet bowl.
The Doctors have also diagnosed me with IBS but I've never heard of this happening with somebody that has IBS. Even with me, I take Laxatives at night so I can go during the day. If I can have Bowel Movements why can't I just fart like a normal person and why does it have to hurt?

I am 22 years old. Five years ago, when I had to go through our national examinations to go to University, a problem appeared. I started farting at an unusual rate. I thought it was anxiety, so I did not visit a doctor asap. Instead, I waited for my examination period to end before I get an expert's opinion. I was then given some pills. "Ibutin" and "Silicates" are the ones I remember after all those years. I think I've taken other medication as well, but unfortunately I don't remember their names. Nothing helped. In addition, when the air does not find a way out from "the bottom side", it goes up and gets out from the mouth (aka burping). Over the years I've managed to somehow control it, but it still is painful. Most doctors say it's actually Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is magnified by anxiety.Or anxiety which CAUSED the IBS.

The problem starts 6 years ago and it was accompanied with severe gastric problem. The problem with my gastric is better after taking H-pylori. But I feel severe pain if I eat beans specifically lentil and drink any fraction of alcohol. I also made check up for ulcer through endoscopy and the result indicates that I don’t have any ulcer in my gastric.
This time I am feeling more tired and weak throughout the day. I am also having the feeling to go to the toilet frequently but most of the time nothing is going out except farting.

The week before last I took co-codamol in the evening and went to bed feeling sick which isn't unusual, a few hours later I was woken by severe cramps and knew I had to get to the toilet, I was sat on the toilet and went dizzy and blacked out, I woke up on the floor sweat pouring off me, finally managed to move myself got a drink of water and made it back to bed, a little later I was sick and emptied my bowels, I wonder if it might of been a reaction to co-codamol as i've not really been able to take it since.

I went in Macmillan hospital for an Iron Infusion, as chronic anemic. I had the iron, and the then administors Cyclizine via IV, i was resting in reclined position on the chair. Suddenly almost not long after maybe 5 mins as if i was either having a heart or stroke, i was struggling to breath serious chest pains,i don't know what my heart rate was since i have Tachycardia, i can say my heart was pounding and chest wall was very fast, i thought i was having a cardiac arrest. Bp from 126 shot up 186/90, i would not speak, my eyes were dialated, my eyes were reported by the nurse as "rolling back in my head", i felt as if paralysed as i could not lift my hands or head, i could not call help. I had tears rolling down my face,it was a few minutes before i could talk. It was the most awful, shocking,distressing,alarming,horrible,frightening experience, to have gone through. To add insult to injury i was sent home, and when i called the Dr acted as if he had never heard of this sort of serious reaction. Not a single note in my after care summary, now covering up. Not a single note about i had no warning about possible side effects, the care has had many failures.

I was prescribed this drug yesterday for a supposed urine infection. I had suffered with urine infections alot in my teens and into adulthood, however had not had an infection since having my son 8 years ago. I had problems during my pregnancy high blood pressure being one of these problems. As a result I only have one fully functional kidney. I was told that my blood pressure would probably go up again in later life and therefore have had it checked each year since.
On a routine checkup a couple of weeks ago, it appears that the high blood pressure is back and at the checkup I also had my urine dipped. The nurse asked me if I had any problems passing water etc. When I said I hadn't, she said there was something in my water and would send it off to the hospital just in case. I said that I thought I would have noticed if there had been a problem.
Anyway, yesterday I got the results and the surgery informed me that my doctor had left a prescription out for me. I picked it up and took the first tablet at four o'clock. By seven o'clock I had a severe headache, and the most awful chest pain, I thought I was having a heart attack
On reading the side effects we rang the hospital, got an appointment, by which time my back and chest were covered in a rash. My Blood pressure had reached 240/140 extremely high....
The doctor confirmed that it was an allergic reaction to trimethoprim and injected me with an antihistamine. Having checked my urine again, they said I did not have an infection in the first instance and should never have been prescribed this drug and confirmed that it could have been fatal.
I am going to make a formal complaint to my doctor and would like to take this further. Why is this drug being prescribed? I think I am very lucky to be here today and my children could have been left without their mum.

Was hospitalised for a week 18 months ago with temp over 40 and severe pain in my arms where all the muscles had gone totally solid. Couldn't walk, move or anything. Half way through my week my tongue swelled up and my throat covered in ulcers. Had morphine and antibiotics to treat.No reason ever found as to why -tested for cancer, meningitis and lupus -all clear
Last friday took trimethoprim for urine infection. Within hour all the symptons i had in hospital were back. Doctor told me to take double dose - got worse - went to hospital - got treated - went home. When had enough strength to ring doctor i asked if i was given Trimethoprim before and guess what? I was prescribed it five days before admittance to hospital 18 months ago

I received a typhoid vaccination as I am going overseas in a month. There was no initial pain, however my arm did feel very numb. A few hours after the vaccination my arm was suddenly severely sore and I felt quite nauseous. The only slight relief I get is when I'm not using my arm or have it resting on my lap. Apart from that, I can't even manage to move it upwards or to the sides or even cough without being in extreme pain. Is this a normal reaction after a typhoid vaccine? What can I do to relieve the pain?

I have been on quetiapine 25mg tablet 3 times a day for 3 weeks! Within an hour of 1st tablet I started itching but carried on with tablet as I was told it was anxiety! Went to see gp yesterday who told me to stop them as I had a rash! Has this happened to anyone and if so was it down to colour of tablet? I am sensitive to some colours! Do I ask psychiatrist if I can try a higher dose that's a white tablet but cut it up?

I've had GA for 2 years now but was only diagnosed today, It appeared a short time after a skin reaction- Erythema Nodosum. This was brought on by Rigevidon, the contraceptive pill. Has anyone else experienced GA as a consequence of contraceptives?
